It's also never good when you have that feeling that you can't trust the vet and staff to have your pet's best interest in mind. I walked out feeling both. Brought my dog in for a swollen ear couple weeks ago. They found so much more wrong with her that I'm skeptical that she actually even needed treatment. Within a couple days, after over $1,500 treatment (and hard sell tactics), the dog's ear reswelled. Doubt she actually had a foxtail in her ear (the one on the tube they showed me could have come from anywhere). Told to come in for a recheck (not a follow-up) for another $160. Same vet seemed ok with the swollen ear this time around. Was draining really needed? Going to this vet...it feels like they're trying to pad the bill...a lot. Lesson learned. Time to find a new vet practice.

It was pricey, but they seemed to really care for their patients, so we put our trust in them. That trust was betrayed. In the 10 years our cats patients here, we repeatedly brought Lily's perpetually dirty nose and ears to the vet's attention, only to be brushed off each time. It was only after we got her a small procedure and they did a horrible job with the suture removal (see photo for the 2" piece of suture material they left in her that we had to extract) and pushed for many expensive tests that turned out to be unnecessary that I began to doubt their competence. We took them to another clinic where the vet immediately diagnosed a serious ear infection, based on her dirty ears and nose. We've now been fighting the infection for a month, with no end in sight. The new vet is culturing the infection to figure out what to do next. It appears that she has had this infection since our first visit to Park Center more than a decade ago. Park Center's incompetence has imperiled our cat's health, and is costing us hundreds of dollars (so far). It turns out that there is a deeper story here. Like many vets, Park Center has been purchased by a private equity firm, which means they are being managed to extract profits. I honestly cannot remember the last time I wrote a review for anything -- but I'm concerned about…read morethe care here and think other pet owners should know what happened, especially if you care about getting clear, honest communication about your pet's health. For context: we'd been going to this clinic for five years and always felt good about the care. That changed after our most recent visit. I specifically scheduled a full examination (with specific concerns about allergies and seizures) for my dog before we left town for an extended trip, so she'd be fully checked before we were away. The vet didn't speak with me at all after the exam. It was only after the visit (around three days after) that I noticed a mass on my dog's side, so I emailed the clinic to ask whether the vet had happened to notice anything during the exam, since nothing had been mentioned to me. I was told that the vet had noted a mass and recommended monitoring. And, I was also told the vet was "happy to look at the mass again at no charge." The need for reexamination worried me so I followed up to ask if it is urgent. I was told "consistent monitoring is fine, not urgent at all." There was some back and forth with scheduling another visit, which prompted me to email asking for clarification on the inconsistencies during our communication. Instead of a written response, I got a phone call from the medical director. On that call, the medical director told me the vet actually meant to write that she did not see a mass -- the opposite of what was shared with me via email. When I pointed out that made no sense (if there was no mass, how could she have advised it wasn't urgent?), I was then told the vet's note reflected me telling her I'd found a mass, and that masses "sometimes don't show up" at the vet visit. I had to explain that this was also incorrect -- I hadn't noticed anything until after the appointment, which is why I'd emailed asking in the first place. So, I was given three different, inconsistent explanations. I tried to ask and understand what happened. I can accept a missed diagnosis--as long as we can work together to address it. However, their explanation was very opaque. As I asked more questions, I was told that she has a family and has to go (which I understand as it was 6pm). But I was disappointed when she followed that indicating that I wasn't a good fit for the clinic and should go elsewhere. I was only trying to reconcile the inconsistencies in the information they provided and have only been requesting explanations to what happened (and not refund/ compensation). Not to mention, she made various comments about my personality as I was trying to understand what happened and requested answer to the questions I outlined in my email to the clinic. To her credit, the medical director stayed on the phone with me for 25 minutes (with me pushing for more information and understanding what happened) and did offer to have the mass checked herself at no charge. I've gone ahead and scheduled that follow-up, since I already paid for a full exam that should have covered this. But I'm left unsure whether this is the standard of communication and record-keeping I should expect. Meanwhile, I've reached out to other vet clinics, which these days, may take awhile to get off the waitlist. I'd encourage folks to review their own pet's records closely and ask questions if anything seems off, because not all information may be shared with you otherwise.

I went to Dr. Holmes after doing a FNA at another clinic for my obese senior cat. The results…read moreshowed had a malignant sarcoma high on his left leg above his knee. I then went to a few other vets prior to JLPH who gave me quite high prices for tumor removal surgeries, so I was weighing my options when coming to JLPH. Dr. Holmes came in whopping with telling me a full leg amputation would actually be the best bet for him to live a long, complications and cancer free life since there is a high chance the removed tumor would grow back and it would leave the leg very weak. She mentioned other vets probably didn't suggest an amputation for my cat was because he is obese but she was transparent and said she has seen cases where they do just fine as tripods. My husband and I decided to take the plunge and let her surgically amputate his entire leg. Not only was the procedure and care for him done exceptionally well, the aftercare the team showed me and my cat was also very kind and reassuring. It's been a month and a day since the procedure and our big tripod is doing great! He's currently on a weight loss journey (thank you Dr. Holmes for the prescription diet) and is able to walk down AND up our flight of stairs. We truly want to thank Dr. Holmes, our vet tech Luna, and the Jack London Pet Hospital team for not giving up on our big guy!

Our last visit was even moved forward, and the front desk was very prompt and courteous about accommodating the change. Staff is respectful, prompt, knowledgeable, and professional. What has been most frustrating is that I have tried repeatedly since July to speak with Dr. Ossiff about my concerns and have never received a call back. More than two months later, I'm taking my dog back to her previous veterinarian to have her senior testing done again because I no longer feel confident that she received the screening I paid for. I tried to resolve this directly with the clinic before posting a review, but after months without a response, I'm extremely disappointed in both the care and the follow-up.

Long belated review…read more We used to have a Pekingese named Bobo that was super grouchy with groomers. Honestly, I think the groomers we used before Under One Woof may have been too rough when grooming him so I am so glad Under One Woof is here. I believe Seiji was the first to be able to groom him and I remember he kissed our dog the moment they met. Then, Naomi took over his grooming. She did phenomenal with him and he loved her so much. After our dearest Bobo passed, we waited years before getting another dog. Now, we have our baby Remy. I requested for Naomi because she is the only one we trust and because we know she does such a wonderful job. Now, Naomi takes care of Remy. My mom does have specific requests for shorter cut and Naomi understands and executes the request so well. I asked for pictures and they sent it to me. So cute. I'd definitely like to try more poodle like cuts when it gets colder! I usually do drop off at 8:30 and I pick him up some time from 12pm - 1pm.
