Back to update my review about 6 months later - we still absolutely love Marina Village Veterinary and our vet, Dr Ashley. The team here are all super nice, friendly, and accommodating. Every interaction feels super easy and quick, and the staff is both knowledgeable and compassionate. The staff are clearly well trained and every vaccination, sample collection, and conversation is handled with expertise. The front desk staff are really friendly and It is really easy to communicate with their team to make appointments, ask for refills, etc, which is absolutely not the case with every vet. We are so grateful to have found this wonderful vet and I seriously recommend them to everyone I know because everyone deserves to have a vet this awesome. Also, the area is super nice and quiet, perfect for a nice walk before or after your appointment. There are some good human food options nearby too! read more

Clean facility. Super easy to book. My dog likes it here, but on two occasions some of the staff weren't very friendly; no introductions and skimped a bit on the bedside manner. I was also charged for a "nurse visit" in addition to being billed for the actual service we got. Not sure what the "nurse visit" entailed, and it said it was billed under the doctor's name, even though that was not who I interfaced with. If this keeps up, I might need to find a new vet office :/ read more

I'm updating my review. So my first impression of them was not off to the best start because they had canceled an appointment that I took time off from work for although they did offer other hospitals or vet clinics I could go to. The office manager reached out to me saying to make it right so I reached back out to set up an appointment, which was the one I went to yesterday. The waiting area is very nice. They have an espresso machine in the front lots of different flyers to look at in a cute board that welcomes your pet with their name. The front staff could be a little more friendly, but the staff in the back the nurses and Dr. Ashley were wonderful. They took the time to answer every question that I had and they were so great with my cat. The service the doctor and nurse provided me made me feel very comfortable and that my questions weren't too crazy and they really made me feel like I could trust them and continue to bring my pet back. It's safe to say that my cat felt very comfortable here. it's also just a short 10 minute drive from my house on the other side of the island. I will definitely be referring people here. Marina Village Review TLDR: If you would like to get obscenely over-charged, manipulated, lied to, misled, and then discarded when they can't get more money out of you, then definitely go to Marina Village. You don't have to believe me. You can see the actual EVIDENCE in the documents below: I had three bad experiences with Marina Village: 1). A quote from Marina Village for $3285.53 $3542.33 vs. the invoice for $1787 that actually paid at Modern Animal. That is almost $2K in "ad ons" that Marina Village charges EXTRA for (such as anesthesia and pain meds), but are "included" standard by Modern Animal and other reputable vets. See copies of the estimate from Marina Village vs the actual invoice from Modern Animal. Totally appalling. That is almost $2K more than their competition. 2). I needed a USDA health travel certificate, and they told me I could only get one if I transferred my dog's care to their office. The ONLY REASOn I put up with this vet is because of the travel certificate. I made an appointment (for $700 for an exam and paperwork), but two days later, Dawn, the practice manager, cancelled my appointment because their staff wasn't trained they didn't want to fulfill their promise. I changed vets exclusively for the certificate, and they refused to provide me the service because and untrained staffer decided to research everything herself instead of asking me for records that I had readily available, but she didn't ask for. No apology, no empathy, no nothing. See the email below for proof. Yet, they are still listed with the USDA and still misleading people and taking their money. Needless to say, I sent a message to the USDA to complain about false advertising. 3). I felt manipulated by one of the vets into a completely unnecessary procedure while I was reeling from the loss of my husband to cancer, and the pressure of taking care of my mom who had just had a stroke. Told us they would test my cat for various issues and called to tell us everything was negative. Went to a closer vet and was told that according to the paperwork they got from Marina Village Vet no tests had been done and my cat hadn't gotten the rabies shot she should've gotten. Dr. Ashley is great but there are issues here that are leading us to find another vet care provider in the east bay soon: (1) lots of veterinarian and vet tech turn over which means your fur babies miss out on building consistency with doctors for their care. Every visit, it feels like a whole new team which isn't a good sign in general (2) they try to sell you a lot. Upsells, cross sells, you name it. We understand they need to pay bills and take care of their staff but... it's too often feeling like a sales motion (3) if you get Hill's prescription Diet here, you are forced to make an appointment every 12 months otherwise your refill will be DENIED. Our kitty had full blood work done 2.5 months prior to the 12-month point but they forced us to make an appt regardless. Not cool. Hill's food is not a pharmaceutical. (4) Our fur baby needed an EKG and they quoted between 1400-1800. We have an appointment at CARE in Concord and their quote was 1100. Every appointment we have had with Marina has been 20-30% higher than other vets in the area. (5) On the most recent visit, our other kitty had an eye ulcer. At recheck, Dr. Hou said he was "healed" but over that weekend, he was still pawing at his eye and we emailed them about it along with photos. That very next Monday, we rec'd a text thinking it would be to check on him but instead, it was about "getting the EKG scheduled" for our other cat and asking if we like a quote for it. Not ONE email checking to see how the other cat was doing with his eye. Well, 2 weeks later we find out from specialist (referred by Marina) his eye is not healed after all. Ultimately, these are the primary reasons we do not recommend Marina Village Vet. read more

I've held off on writing this review for many months, because I greatly dislike the corporatization of healthcare and MVV is a small business, but we can't support them any longer. 1. Dr Ashley is amazing. If you must go here, don't settle for another vet. No exceptions. We've had average to terrible experiences with two other vets at this practice. One came across as if she didn't know what she was doing and the other was proficient but lacked bedside manner and piled cost on top of cost to our bill. Which leads me to... 2. It's unaffordable. They will present a ludicrously expensive estimate and stand there are you awkwardly ask for items to be removed because you need to pay your rent. If you take a sneezing cat in here that they deem mature age (about 6+ yrs) and you will basically be required to pay $500+ for a sr blood test and that's only the start. Expect to be presented with something upwards of $1,500 for a non-emergency checkup. And I can verify these costs are exorbitant because we moved our cat to another highly reputable, privately owned vet within a 5 mile radius and had our kitten neutered. Total cost, $335 out the door. No upsell and the vet even voluntarily took things off the initial estimate. I know it's not 1:1 comparison but... Also we noticed on their schedule while waiting that some patients have a "$" next to their name (literally). I won't speculate what that means... 3. The supporting staff is underwhelming. Expect conflicting communications (we would receive brochures and updates for dogs, after bringing in a cat). Don't expect someone to answer the phone, or reply back from their text messaging system. I don't know if it's broken, but sometimes they get the text and sometimes when you call after they don't respond to the text they say they never got it. But then you'll get a text from them at the same number they didn't respond to... so I don't know. Also picking up medication is a pain. We've called to verify prescriptions were ready only to get there and have to wait 20 minutes while they prepare it. And don't expect them to remember or think about your pet's preferences or personality. We have a picky eater and they prescribed an extremely bitter pill without even mentioning it. When we called they said crush it up in food... like, do you know our cat that will never work. Obviously they don't. 4. The parking is convenient. In conclusion. Dr. Ashley is an amazing. I wish we could support Marina Village Vet but our patience and our wallet can't. read more

We moved to Alameda earlier this year and are lucky to have found this vet office! They are easy to schedule with, affordable, have an online portal and the staff and doctor were very caring. They do a lot to try to make pets feel less anxious and overall we had a positive experience in our first visit for vaccinations and an annual exam. read more

I was very pleased with Marina Village a couple years ago when I went in to deal with an infected ear in my dog. The office is well kept, and the staff is friendly. They let you into the room while they examine your dog. They took a look prescribed two meds and I was out of there for about $150. The ear problem resolved Recently, the same dog had the same problem with the other ear. I was surprised and disappointed to find that it cost almost $700. This time they gave me four meds and did a culture to determine which antibiotic to prescribe. The culture was about $ 375. By the time I left the office my bill was almost $700 there were some extra meds beyond what I had gotten the last time including an antibiotic. Two of the meds made him sick and they told me to discontinue them. I asked about the results of the culture to determine which antibiotic and they said they didn't need them because they had already prescribed the antibiotic. In addition, they told me he needed some dental work, but their estimate for the cost was almost $2000 just for the examination and x-ray and $5000-$6000 for what they thought he would likely need. I ended up getting the whole thing done at the ASPCA for about $1200. It's appealing practice in many ways, but at these prices, I'd advise anybody to ask anout costs and be very careful before letting them treat your pet read more

The need for Urgent Care can be an emotionally stressful situation, but ... These TOP NOTCH professionals have everything under control! Front desk, Assistant, Doctor They love their jobs and it shows. We had just rescued a young dog that was transported to us from CA with a foot injury that had not been treated. She needed assessment ASAP. The staff here is everything a pet owner could hope for in this situation: Available, Knowledgeable, Friendly, Compassionate and Loving !! They were gentle with this disoriented, frightened girl who was in a strange state with strangers, in a medical facility, surrounded by unfamiliar smells and people. Fortunately, nothing was broken so anti-inflammatories, a short sequence of pain killers, and restricted movement were all that was needed to give her foot a chance to heal was what the doctor ordered. read more

Now every time we go back we see Hailey and Caitlyn and they make my dogs so excited to be at the vet! They are sooo sweet, super knowledgeable and definitely dog whisperers. My dog Ryu has never willingly entered a vet (or groomer, etc) office. He waltzes right into Marina Village and gets so excited to see Caitlyn and Hailey!!! They worked wonders getting him to allow them to give him vaccines. They allowed me to be with him and pet him while Hailey gave him treats and Caitlyn injected his rear multiple times. DO NOT TAKE YOU PET HERE. Our dog was a patient of Dr McCaughan and, although she is very warm and friendly, we spent thousands of dollars on bloodwork, a dental cleaning and nail trim and wound up living a nightmare due to their staff's incompetence and, even more insulting, a complete and callous disregard for our pet dog's wellbeing. Before the procedure we directly asked if Dr. McCaughan would be the one doing it, and were straight-up lied to that yes, she would. Turns out she wasn't, and they overdosed on the anethesia; when we picked our dog up (on a Friday afternoon), she couldn't stand or walk, and we received zero instructions on what to expect. Our dog couldn't walk, was distressed, unrinated in her bed/on herself multiple times and didn't eat or drink for over 24 hours. All for a routine dental cleaning. On top of everything, three of her nails (and counting!) have become infected as a result of their office's lack of sanitary standards. We have spent hundreds of dollars, gone through a month-long course of antibiotics, and her nails are still infected. She may lose one of her toes. Another vet has indicated that they've only seen this happen when dirty instruments and/or contaminated quickstop have been used. The very worst part is that we gave the office the benefit of the doubt because we really liked Dr. McCaughan yet were treated in the most callous and uncaring way imaginable. The front office manager is very unpleasant and their response was basically "sorry you're upset, we'll close your account" - they literally could not care less about the pain and stress they've caused our pet and the significant additional expense they've caused us. Took my sister's dog here to get vaccinated. They made my sister prepaid $85 for the exam, however when I got there they gave me a $250 bill. I repeatedly told them the exam had been prepaid, they tried to ignore me. After they finally removed the $85 exam fee, they tried to make me prepaid for deworming, and I told them no, my sister will paid for that if she wants to but I'm just here for the vaccination so you can charge her for that when she brings back the fecal sample if she wants. They told me the deworming was $88 and the vaccination was $77 and they were going to give me 2 free meds for ticks and fleas. So I was like fine, I'll pay $77 for the vaccination but I'm not paying for anything else. Left the clinic feeling like I just dodged a bullet. Came home and told my friend that I pay $77 for the dog vaccination and my friend said that is pricey. I then showed him the receipt and he said I paid $24 for the deworming med and the vaccination was only $52. By now I'm furious and could not sleep all night. Early in the morning I called the clinic and they said I agreed to the deworming. Why would I pay for deworming when my sister's dog did not even get tested for worms? I'm contacting the news station to expose these people scam! I'm going to make sure this is seen all over social media so that no one has to go through what I went through! Worst, incompetent customer service ever. Called at 10 AM to inquire about making an appointment for a new puppy. Was told to go to their website and fill out the form for new patients and they'd call back to make the appointment. Before hanging up, I confirmed that they had availability for the day I was looking for the appointment. Went online and filled out their form and waited. Six hours later, I finally called them. They were fumbling around transferring my call trying to find my form and finally was told that they needed to input my information and they'd call me right back. Another hour passes and I call back because they close at 6 and the time is 5:50. Still takes them a minute to find my form and then finally, I'm asked when would you like your appointment. Come to find out, they don't have any openings left on Wednesday. The whole point of filling out their form and wasting my entire day waiting was to get an appointment on Wednesday but they screwed that up. Now I'm kind of glad because if they can't even sort themselves out for simple paperwork, don't think I feel comfortable handing them my new puppy. In any case, you should avoid this place at all cost. Can't trust a vet with your pet if they can't even get the first thing right, take care of the customer who's actually going be to paying you. read more

We take our dog here and they do a good job. The staff seem very responsive and knowledgeable and our dog seems comfortable with them, especially Dr. Ashley. We have taken our dog there for check-up's as well as treatment for nausea or ear infections. Our pet insurance reimburses us for almost all of the expenses, which we're super thankful for. I haven't been going to Marina village Veterinary for very long. I took my cat in for worms and just under $500 and the worms are gone. I called at 2:30 today and left a detailed message because my cat seemed to be stressing. He was drooling like crazy. I was very worried. At 5:30 and no return call I called again and found out that they are closed. So my only option was to go to the pet emergency clinic and pay a lot more than I had to because Marina Village didn't return my call. There are lots of vets around so it seems odd that they were too busy to return calls. Maybe they don't need any more patients. Someone can have my spot because I won't be back. read more

They repeatedly messed up my dying dog's pain medication and took no responsibility for their errors once they realized that they were at fault. Instead, the office manager wrote hostile, accusatory emails and delayed filling my dog's prescription for pain medication by several days. I don't know how aware the healthcare providers are of the admin's transgressions, I never got a call back. After finding out today that Ayndi, the office manager, delayed forwarding the corrected prescription or filling it in office yet another day, I read the other one star Yelp reviews. I wish I had read them before. I see all the concerns I have reflected in other patients remarks. I'm in the position of letting my dog die without pain meds or euthanize her prematurely. read more

The reception staff is wildly unprofessional. This place feels like a fly by night operation. We came by for a first visit after moving to the area, and we had a good experience booking the appointment. We got a prompt email confirmation with instructions to collect a stool sample and urine sample if possible. When we came to drop off Oscar the nurse (Jackie) took him in and instructed us to wait in our car. Understandable during Covid. Unfortunately, she didn't ask for his medical records, or his stool or urine samples. We gave her the stool sample and let Oscar in with her on an office provided slip collar. They didn't ask for records of his previous care or vaccines. After 20 minutes waiting in the hot sun, with no word from inside, we called back and asked for a time and cost estimate. The receptionist put us on hold while we waited for a time estimate, which she later told us would range from half an hour to two hours. We were put on hold a second time as she couldn't discuss price estimates, and put us on a hold to get the Vet. Once the Vet (Ashley McCaughan) got on the phone with us and told us she couldn't discuss estimates, and the nurse had to do that. The Vet (or the woman claiming to be the vet) then told us we couldn't get Oscar heat worm medication without a test because it would be illegal (though they had the medication available over the counter at Costco last week). After being given the runaround, being told conflicting information, and being treated with the professionalism of a stoned teenager, we declined further exams for Oscar and told them we wanted to take our business elsewhere. We were charged $79 for the general exam rendered. Oscar was brought back out to the parking lot, hacking and wheezing, with his slip collar WAY too tight, and Nurse Jackie pulling him back without any appreciation for the pressure on his windpipe. We wrapped things up with the nurse and she told us she'd email us his results. Given the experience we had, we insisted on getting a hard copy of his report. It took the staff 10 minutes to print out the document, which had his weight incorrect (we weighed him prior) and his age incorrect (we were never asked, and I presume they chose a number of months arbitrarily). If the conduct of the office staff is any indication of their standard of care, I wouldn't let thier anesthesiologist near my dog. read more

Every pet parents' worst nightmare came true at this practice. On 7/15/22, our perfectly healthy dog with no underlying health condition went into this vet for routine teeth cleaning who has cleared my dog for this procedure with flying color per the blood test done DIED while still at premise in front of my own eyes. I also followed all the instruction given prior to procedure. On the day of her teeth cleaning, I received a post procedure update phone call from the doctor at this practice in late afternoon. Shocking thing is, the vet told me that the pre-sedative meds knocked her out (abnormal reaction) but she went ahead and took the risk of putting anesthesia in her. Why didn't she stop and called me, the owner, before she proceeded with anesthesia and told me about the abnormal reaction she had with sedative? Why did she take such huge rush of injecting anesthetic drug in My dog who already was having abnormal reaction to prior drug that was given by her? The conversation ended with me asking Dr. McCaughan "she's ok? She's going to be ok?" Which she replied "yea, yea." Trusting her, I never informed my husband who loved her as his daughter as a couple who was never blessed with human child to take off from work to be with our dog for her final moments. Shortly after, I arrived at Marina Village Vet. Dr. McCaughan said "according to the anesthetic expert, too much IV fluid was given." It was troubling to me to learn that she was not the expert, but still trusting her, I asked her if this reaction to anesthesia would result in our dog having any organ failure such as kidney failure. Her answer was a firm "no". Naturally, I trusted her and never informed my husband to come to the clinic to be with our dog for her final moments. Shortly later, I was led into another room to see our fur daughter. Her breathing was heavy and slow. I didn't have to be any kind of vet tech or medical professional to know that something was obviously wrong. I asked the tech, "what if she stops breathing?" He casually replied "agh, she shouldn't." He didn't even come over to take a look at how my dog was actually breathing. Dr. McCaughan came to speak to me and said "the expert now says she is just taking longer to wake up from anesthesia". By this point, it had been third time that this vet assured me that my dog was going to be just fine. After about 20 min. of this statement, our dog died before my very own eyes. During this 20 min. I witnessed that the techs in the room who were supposed to be keeping a vigilant eye on my dying dog were holding and playing with a kitten instead. I had previously spoke with the owner of the kitten in the waiting room when I arrived at the clinic and was told by the owner of the kitten that the kitten was not there for any serious health concern. Naturally, I felt that it was odd that the techs in the room were playing with the kitten instead of keeping a close eye on my dog in a critical state who would die just 20 min later. I also witnessed that one of the techs were speaking on a personal phone call instead of tending to our dog in critical state. Why couldn't she just hold off on being on a personal phone call after her shift has ended? I could only tell myself that it must be because there is just absolutely no concern for my dog's health. How else could a medical professional be on a personal phone call during her shift right next to the patient's paw parent? That is what I thought. After about 20min, I was the only one who noticed that her eyeball rolled downward in her eye socket as her heart stopped. The shocking thing is, I was the only one who noticed this and notified the tech. They then started working on our dog to resuscitate her. It was not successful. I repeatedly asked Dr. McCaughan "why did this happen?" She repeatedly said "I don't know. Her heart just gave out." It was beyond baffling to me that a perfectly healthy dog who was well under six years of her life expectancy according to her breed who was full of bouncy energy would be dead on their table and there was no explanation from them. How could this doctor have repeatedly tell me that she was just going to be fine until 20 min before her death in front of my very eyes? Had she been transparent with the actual condition of our dog, I would have told my husband to take off from work in time to be with our fur daughter for her final moments. Had the techs not been playing with a kitten or being on a personal phone call when they were supposed to keep an eye on our dying dog the last 20 min of her life, the life saving efforts could have made earlier. We had to since make the incredibly difficult decision to euthanize her senior sibling dog as he had lost all his will to live without his baby sister and stopped eating anything at all and was in so much distress for days. So we lost two fur kids in span of just four days. I don't wish this suffering and pain on any pet parent. read more

Thank you to the lovely staff for taking care of my dog! Everyone from the front desk, to the nurse techs and the doctors were all very helpful and empathetic. My dog is very nervous when it comes to the vet and the wonderful staff did the best to make her feel safe. I brought my dog in for a checkup after an ER visit and they were so gentle and attentive to her. They answered all my questions and were incredibly helpful. I highly recommend this vet! read more

I have been impressed with and thankful for this vet ever since our first visit. My dog, Ruby, is an elderly Lab who has a funny quirk: she wants to hold hands (paws) with everyone. If you meet her, she presents a paw and expects you to not shake it, but hold it. Well, she met Dr. Ashley and presented her paw and Ashley held it immediately, and started talking to Ruby, and within the first thirty seconds, noticed a malignant melanoma on her toe that could have spread and killed her. So our first procedure at the new vet was a toe amputation and it probably saved her life! Since then, it has been only good experiences. Most recently, Ruby hurt her back and Ashley had to refer her out for an MRI which turned into spinal surgery. The emergency vet had COVID procedures (needed) and it was hard that I couldn't even meet the vet doing the surgery. They were super busy and couldn't really answer my questions. I called Ashley -- who isn't getting a penny from this -- and she answered all my questions and reassured me, even though I know she's SUPER busy. The techs and receptionists are also wonderful, and really truly care about Ruby. read more

I made an appointment late last night (Thursday) for today, Friday 11:30am acupuncture/office visit session. Somehow, the system had a mind of its own, and it did not show up in their system. No worries. The front desk lady was super accommodating and got me in with minimal wait. Dr Ashley saw my old lady Nova, an almost 10 year old Aussie. Nova suffers from epilepsy. She is on pheno and pot. bromide. Dr Ashley performed acupuncture on her today, and prescribed some Chinese herbs to be added to her diet. I am optimistic and will be back for her 2nd session in two weeks, and will update this review as I go. Friendly and super helpful staff ... I would totally recommend them. read more

Called today to see if Marina (this was our regular vet) would be able to squeeze in our cat for a subcutaneous saline injection to stabilize and possibly avoid an expensive GI obstruction surgery. Called around 2 PM, was told we would hear right back, three calls later and still asking us to wait, and at the end of the day they told us that they could not fit us in - all the while we have been waiting with a deteriorating cat. Front desk people/technicians are incompetent and reflects poorly on the practice. Today you were unable to accommodate a long standing client for a 5 minute quick procedure, but instead wanted to schedule our next regular visit with complete disregard to the current health status of our cat and our distress - shame on you. Also, agree with everyone about the wild pricing, I'd say they are roughly 2x $$, but with exceptionally bad customer service. We will not return. read more

Amazing holistic full service Vet!!! The only vet in the Bay area that offers vasectomy and ovarian sparing spay. I wanted to sterilize my 6 month old puppy but wanted him to still get his hormones that are crucial to bone growth and health. The stars are based on customer service and cleanliness. I have not used their medical services. I had a delivery here. Upon entry i smelled nothing! Do you hear me? NOTHING. I've been in several veterinary offices and the animal odor hits you in the face. I'm still flabbergasted at the nonexistent smell. And i know there were dogs there. I had a few visits that were pretty good...then we had an appointment booked last week that was never really happened and made us very upset. I made an appointment about a week in advance for our very anxious and sensitive little rescue dog and was it was at 8:30am and we would "drop her off"...I assumed it was due to Covid because no people were allowed into the office. We were informed when the tech came to our car that it may be awhile, could be a few hours and that we shouldn't wait in our car...hmmm. I called 2 hours later and they said that we did NOT in fact have an appointment and that they would squeeze her in at some point in the day between appointments--she could be there all day! I was furious and immediately drove down there to pick her up. Of course when I got there she was so relieved and couldn't wait to go potty:( The tech was not apologetic, just defensive and said that she told us at drop off that this was the deal and we should have known. I was NOT told when I made this appointment, and I was NOT told when I made this APPOINTMENT a week ago. I was certainly not going to return, but to give them feedback, I followed up with the manager who was defensive and took no responsibility for the lack of communication on behalf of his staff. Waste of time and a few hours of trauma for my poor pooch--then not even a "sorry that you had that experience". Guess they forgot that the customer is always right??? read more

And veterinarians wonder why they get such a bad reputation from the public. Here's an example. I brought my senior cat into the clinic about two months ago and was very pleased with the conversation/interaction I had with Dr.McCaughan. She was very informative and made an attempt to examine my cat, who is spicy, and recommend and prescribed medications to help with the cat's issues. I also decided to get another opinion from another clinic and basically the same regimen that Dr. McCaughan prescribed was also recommended. However, after doing more research on the medication prescribed for my cat with both hyperthyroidism and kidney disease, the medication prescribed would cause much discomfort for at least three months and not necessarily work without leading to even more kidney issues. I made the decision not to put my cat through that process. I remembered that Marina Veterinary Clinic is also an integrative clinic utilizing herbal medicine and acupuncture. I decided to give them a call back to discuss my decision and plan out an alternative herbal route. I had already purchased several products and wanted to talk to them, since I am an established customer, and make sure I have the correct herbs. I was informed that in order to even talk to the vet, over the phone, that it would be $239.00 dollars! Blew my mind! I asked why and was told that because not many veterinarians do integrative medicine, it's a specialty and costs much more. WOW! So much for the holistic, calmer way of doing things. Maybe holistic medicine would be more popular if it was not considered so "elite." This kind of price gouging to people who are in a desperate state of emotion trying to make extremely difficult decisions as to what they think will be the best treatment for their fur baby is exactly why a lot of vets get a bad rep. I would gladly have paid a normal exam fee for that phone conversation. I'm not looking for anything free and time is valuable. But, so is the well being, and sincere effort in caring for my cat. Yes,it wS double charged and so I dicativelt ONE CENT was charged differently to give the appearance of a non duplicate charge..presumably and that is clearly my belief I had asked Dr Kornfield and two diffetent admin staff if the clinic had any recent deaths secondary to anesthesia..say the last 10 years.One needs to ask this be ause the risk of death is 20 in 10,000 so ANY death due to anesthesia is remarkable and should be considered seriously prior to putting g your animal baby in someone's hands. Long story short,I am on disability bit have a small settlement to pay for my dogs needs They know rjis and she attempts to be sadistic and tells me Good Luck Finding Another Vet!!! She also tells me to shit up and spend a good deal of time with gSighting insults Well here I am,I see you clearly and bank is temporarily fronting my reimbursement whilst they investigate for fraud. I hope the doctor really thinks about the cost to his practice visa vie reputation if he does not fire her and reimburse my money. Absolutely the worst vet I've ever visited! Made an appointment for my fur baby to get a wellness check up but was asked to prepaid because many people did no show no call. This was my first time experiencing this kind of situation, I've never been asked to prepaid for a pet visit before. The visit was unpleasant, there was so many issues and the staff seems like they do not know what they're doing or talking about. I had to call back multiple times regarding to my situation and every time the receptionist seems like she doesn't know what the hell she's doing. She kept having to ask her manager what to do and kept telling us she'll call me back, which she never did. I had to keep calling back for an update. The staffs kept bs-ing me and my situation the whole time. Do not go here if you don't want to waste time and money! There are so many better options around Alameda! read more

I have been coming here for 2-3 years now and absolutely LOVE them. My little bulldog has had every health issue imaginable (seizures, UTIs, ear infections, IBS, cuts/spider bites, etc etc) and Marina has been there every step of the way. They've kept me calm when things weren't looking good and talked me through every diagnosis and treatment with kindness and professionalism (and handle my endless questions very well lol). I love that they offer a holistic approach and can say that my dog is doing fantastic these days thanks to them! I'm truly shocked at all the low reviews because I've always considered them a great vet that really goes above and beyond to make Bailey and I feel at home. I've tried MANY other vets in the Bay and even as far as Sacramento and wouldn't ever dream of switching her primary vet from Marina. Thanks to everyone there! read more
