It was because…read morethis is what fast food used to look like: friendly cashiers who asked if we had any questions and then happily took our order, rather than directing us to a kiosk or telling us to use an app. The dining room was clean and inviting, and they still offered free refills on soda. I ordered the chicken strips with fries, while my partner ordered a two-piece chicken dinner with macaroni salad and spicy rice. Although we had to wait a little while for the food, it arrived hot. We both agreed that it was some of the best fast-food fried chicken we had ever eaten. The chicken was moist and the batter was crispy. My fries were good, and my partner's macaroni salad and spicy rice were both flavorful. We especially loved the biscuit. I also couldn't help noticing that although the dining room feels like something of a relic, it is very well maintained. There were no dirty tables and no trash on the floor. I was genuinely shocked when the cashier came out to ask how everything was and whether we needed anything else. Most fast-food chains seem determined to eliminate as much human interaction as possible. Pioneer Chicken was a refreshing reminder that fast food can still be friendly, clean and satisfying. Pioneer Chicken is a winner in my book!

It's a chicken joint, but I wanted to taste the fish. I'm glad I only ordered one piece, it was too greasy. The chicken was pretty good, not as good as I remember, but good. The chicken was also greasy, but not as greasy as the fish. Would I order again? No. Not because it wasn't good, but because there are much better chicken joints that are not greasy.

The pacific oysters are a good size and I really enjoyed the yuzu-kosho ponzu sauce on it. The spicy tuna crispy rice have a good amount of spicy tuna on top & I loved how crispy they made the rice underneath. The Kodo trio comes with uni, toro, & wagyu and the Toro sampler comes with o-toro, chu-toro, akami. All of these handrolls were phenomenal & just left you wanting more. The Wagyu katsu you cook on a hot stone at the table which I liked as an interactive dish. The Wagyu cheeseburger was dripping with juice but still had those crunchy edges. The Uni pasta was beautiful & delicious. The Chimichurri prawns I could eat multiple plates of- the shell comes sliced down the middle so you just have to peel it off. For dessert we ordered the Kodo basque cheesecake & Miso chocolate torte. I love a basque cheesecake & the sesame crumble added great texture. The miso chocolate torte made me wish I ordered my own. Everything from start to finish was amazing, it's hard to pick favorites. Parking- valet $13

She was also so sweet in helping us figure out what to order. We decided to order the chicken tenders, potato wedges, and the cheese curds. Absolutely no complaints. The chicken was SUOER crispy and super juicy. It's also huge, so next time I will be ordering two instead of three. I've also never had actual crispy potato wedges until trying this one as well. Even after finishing all my chicken, everything stayed crispy. The cheese curdles were also good. They're like mini mozzarella balls, nothing too crazy but still super delish. I will be making a return soon because this is so far, my top chicken place!!!

The menu is simple but creative, perfect blend of Filipino and Spanish cuisine. Inasal cesar salad: calamansi dressing is refreshing. Grilled chicken is perfectly grilled add a nice twist to the salad. Kare-kare tamale: signature dish. The braised oxtail is so moist and tender..the veloute sauce is milky. Bucatini and rigatoni are also so yummy. We can't decide the winner. Bucatini is spicy. Rigatoni is milky and buttery... so you decide. Grilled escabeche white fish: the fish is moist with crispy skin. Ribeye is melt in my mouth. For desert, panna cotta is a.perfect ending of a beautiful dinner. Every dish.is beautifully presented. The service is impeccable. There is paid parking across from the restaurant for $10. It is probably one of the best meal we had this year. What a way to elevate Filipino cuisine for western palates. Parking: paid lot directly across the restaurant for $10 for the day. Street parking was extremely limited. Service: Jaden was our server and he was attentive with checking in on us. We had ordered a steak, but did not receive a steak knife. We tried to get by with the butter knife at the table, but obviously it did not pan out well. Our server was occupied with another table, so I was patiently waiting to make eye contact. Miraculously another server saw my desperate eyes and before I could even raise my hand or say "excuse me" to flag her down, she came right over with a SMILE no less (!!!) and asked how she could help. That level of attentiveness was very much appreciated. Even the tall white guy came to clear our plates. I don't know what he does, because at the end of the meal, we saw him hauling in and hand-carrying 5 bags of ice. The level of hustle across the team is obvious and helps round out the experience of dining out and choosing to spend money on a dining experience. Even the bus boys were attentive with filling our water cups, which was quite appreciated. Can't say any more good things about the service and truly appreciated our server Jaden because he seemed so personable to have a genuine conversation while running around. Really seems like a hard worker. Ambiance: kudos to whoever set the playlist for Friday night -- Kaytranada songs came up a couple times and really helped to set the mood to kick off my weekend.

We had to wait for some people to get their orders and leave so that the three of us could all sit together. Otherwise, the cashier was very pleasant, and the food was top notch. We got an original chicken sandwich, a spicy chicken sandwich, a breakfast sandwich, an order of tots, a lemonade, and a cookie butter latte. Everything was delicious. The chicken was big and crispy. The sandwiches were filling. The order of tots was small but honestly that's all we needed with the size of the sandwiches. The lemonade was perfect and the latte exceeded expectations. The ranch on the sandwich was good. I got some ghost pepper mayo on the side to try it out. My fiancée got her pickles on the side but ended up liking them. The spicy sandwich had kick but was not unbearable. Overall, we'll definitely be back and we're glad we found a late night spot in Downtown with reasonable and tasty food.
