** The Kindest Staff ** ** Chill Atmosphere ** I've passed Sal's Philly a thousand times heading to XC but was always too full to try it out, that ended today! I had the pleasure of walking into a place where the people working may have been some of the kindest I've met in a long time. I don't want to go into too much detail but they really seem to care about their customers. The Philly Cheese Steak was delicious! Not perfect, little over cooked, but definitely better than most. Ordered 6 wings dinner-fried hard with lemon pepper seasoning. It came with thick cut fries and Texas toast style garlic bread and a choice of hot sauce/bbq sauce. Food was hot and tasted fresh. Price was reasonable-about 10 bucks. Service was friendly. The guy taking orders provided a menu and told me I could call the order in ahead of time so I wouldn't have to sit & wait long (about 20 minutes) if I didn't want to and he explained the wait is because they cook the food fresh to order. The place was clean and bright with a nice painting of Chicago buildings and sports teams on the hallway walls. Definitely plan on going back. read more

And here we are again. Sal no longer owns this place. It has been bought out by Wingz It Iz. Sandwiches still taste good but we have been spoiled by Sal and when we asked for things like extra meat and sauce, he hooked us up. The sandwiches I got today had no extra meat and if if they did, you wouldn't know. Sal packed the container with fries and today, there was only a handful. Came in on a Tuesday, only one person working. It was a group of us so it look a while to get our food. The food was hot, fresh.. good quick bite. The guy working was super overwhelmed when five of us came in but he took all of our orders then started cooking. I didn't like that I couldn't use cash that day but it's fine. Sal's is the best Philly around! Sal and his wife are so nice. They make you feel like family when you walk in the door. The Philly Cheesesteak is by far my favorite. We just recently had a large work order & everything was perfectly wrapped, hot after being transported 15 min & everyone loved it! This place is terrible! I order a pizza puff, Italian beef and fries. my receipt time stamped my order 12:32. Waited 30 min for my food. When I asked the owner why the customer who ordered after was getting their food before me, he decided to stare me down and then said it was cooking. We pulled into the lot with the intention of grabbing a couple of Subway sandwiches, when my husband noticed the "specials" signs in Sal's windows. We decided to give Philly steak sandwiches a try. Glad we did! Their classic philly cheese sandwich includes the beef and cheese, plus green peppers and onions, all deliciously mixed together in a finely-chopped blend. The Turano bread was fresh and soft. The sandwiches were tasty, and the fine chop of the meat made it easy to eat, as well. They have daily specials, including Kronos gyros. Food there to me is always delicious. However, the place itself is small, so was disappointing to see how many people were there eating in such a small, packed area while you were picking up your food, during these times as there was no separation at all. Also, I saw customers there ordering, and waiting for their food that were not wearing a mask (notice they were not eating, but simply ordering), as well as some employees did not either. Would've thought they'd worry about the safety of others and enforce these rules that every other restaurant has enforced. Hopefully they can do better read more
