We had a great time. Just a fun place. Sports bar with a huge menu. Had a hard choice deciding, I went with the Cajun chicken sandwich but I really wanted the $15 T-Bone ( Fri-Sat-Sun special). Unfortunately my wife was with me and closely monitors my red meat intake. It's a sports bar, a lot of tv's and a touch loud, we sat at the outside bar where Zee took very good care of us. I ordered a beer batted fish sandwich, The only thing harder than the fish was the bun..I asked for extra tarter sauce, I got only one blue cheese dressing ugh! I put it on my fish before I realized what it was. I got the side of mac and cheese. It was a kids box version with a bland sauce, Horrible! This cost me $13. That a lot for someone who usually brings their lunch. But today I decided to treat myself. And this was the one in Beachwood, Ohio. Visited for lunch and enjoyed wings, wings, and more wings. With so many sauce flavors ranging from lip-smacking good to burn-your-lips-off, it's hard to decide which is the best. We also had a chicken quesadilla, which was a traditional preparation (chicken, cheese, onions, peppers & salsa on the side) and was flavorful. The restaurant was not busy on a Sunday afternoon, and our waiter was quite attentive and pleasant. Although we didn't imbibe in any brews on this visit, it's impressive to see the huge line-up of beers. Maybe next time.... read more

When it's 5:30 on a Friday night in the parking lot is half full as well as the restaurant you've got to wonder am I making mistake? Generally the Winking Lizard close to our home is relatively a decent experience but this one seemed like a different restaurant altogether. The nincompoop at the front door could not understand that a party of nine it's not that hard to put together when half the tables in the restaurant or empty. Moreover we told her we could just have two tables close to each other one for the kids one for the adults and we would be okay with that. I seriously think she broke something thinking about it. My main complaint was not with the food but with the service. It appeared our server was either really busy or just not that good because our server seem to have tables all over their floor of the restaurant. It took her about 15 minutes to get us refills on our drinks and with this kind of service you better know what you want next time she comes by cuz that may be the last time you see her. I ordered a buffalo chicken salad and it came with no less than 2 cups of cheese on it. And it was cheddar cheese which was really weird to put on a buffalo chicken salad. Ordinarily you would have mozzarella. Now I like cheese but even I scooped off at least a cup of cheese. Overall the veggies were fresh the salad was a good portion but it just took our server forever to come back in and check on the table not to mention some of the order was missing. There was no management present at all and not one time did a manager stop by the table to make sure everything was okay which is standard protocol. Short of the fact they have a franchise named locked on and they're in a very busy area if they had to rely just on their service alone they would have been closed tomorrow. The waitress let me know I couldn't take it to go even though this isn't on the menu of the wings I was ordering. Instead I asked to just have a side of fries and the fries literally came to me immediately which let me know the food was not fresh. I immediately cancelled my order. This was a terrible eating experience for me and I will NEVER return to this establishment or any of their sister restaurants either. Also from an ambiance standpoint I sat at the bar (only black woman here) and had to get the attention of the waitresses SEVERAL times just for my order to even be taken or me to be acknowledged. 0/0 Stars. I had one disappointing experience at this Winking Lizard but I've returned a few times since then and have had consistently good experiences. I have been here twice since the lockdown and was really impressed. They have plexiglass partitions at the bar, every staff member was wearing a mask and there was a lot of cleaning going on. I felt very comfortable in the restaurant. I was very pleased with how normal everything was - the food was great, as usual and the service was fast and efficient. I don't like to go out to restaurants very often these days but I enjoyed my visits to this Winking Lizard location. read more

Lunch after CWRU graduation and firepit the night before--recommended! Beachwood location. We were in Cleveland for a college graduation (near Little Italy). Checked into our hotel across the street from Winking Lizard Tavern on a Saturday in May 2022. Looked across the street and saw a huge fire pit and several chairs and tables on their patio. Decided we had to go sit next to that fire pit before we went to bed! It was a lovely evening and we had a couple of drinks while sitting outside around their huge fire pit. Nice wait staff and nice people there. The next day we couldn't find a place that would take lunch reservations for right after the graduation ceremony--maybe because it was graduation weekend? We decided to go back to our hotel (only about 15-20 minutes away) and have lunch on the patio at Winking Lizard. It was a beautiful day and we all liked the hamburgers and salads that we ordered. Great place in Cleveland to watch football on Sundays and heat selection of food, tons of parking. It's just easy!

I can sum this place up rather quickly. Having worked in food service for 27 years, from dishwasher to general manager to owner, I've seen it all. Their website makes clear that they have a uniform menu, between locations. This one only leaves you waiting for a half-hour. The best way to understand them is the BBQ Ribs that they serve. They're probably praised by affluent people who've never missed a meal in their entire life, or asked for a To-Go container. Word of advice: You could cook a good rib by actually removing the membrane, and making them whole, rather than chopping the whole side down the center. Poor form. read more

I have been eating at the Winking Lizard since it was just the one location on Miles, and as they have expanded I have eaten at the majority of their locations in the Cleveland and Akron are, as well as Columbus. The food is consistent across all locations. In 20 plus years of eating at the Lizards, the food is always great (if you are looking for bar type food). The service, however, is not consistent and this location has the most mediocre service of any of the Lizards. Every time I have been to this location it's a struggle to get a drink refill. At all the other locations, the servers and food runners are on top of things. The service here is still passable, but not up to the very high standards of the other locations. It's still a great spot for a very reasonably priced and satisfying meal, but it's worth the drive to the Miles road or Mayfield locations for the same food with better service. read more

Solid post-work happy hour stop. That really sums it up for me. It's a great stop for drinks, and the food is just your standard American fare. Burgers, fries, wings, some wraps, and throw in some potato skins or whatever. This location is pretty large, with a outdoor patio (with a stunning view of the parking lot), and some event space in the back for parties. During the week they have some good happy hour specials - which wlil always and forever make me happy. I love happy hour. Good selection of beers, local craft in addition to the typical bud light selection. Service can vary, but overall this place is A-ok in my book! read more

When I first started traveling to Cleveland I quickly learned The Winking Lizard is a staple, especially for beer drinkers. The reviews are always split. Either people rave about the beer menu or bash the food. Quite frankly I really enjoyed both. The beer list is INSANE! So many options. Most of them are on draft, but they also have bottles available. There are also some liquor and wine options (full bar) for those who don't drink beer. The paper menu on the table is your beer list on one side and all kinds of tips and updates on the other. This changes monthly and you can tell a lot of thought is put into it each month. If you're a local and a beer lover it may be worth it for you to sign up for their Beer Tour. Drink 100 beers in a year and you get a special finishers jacket. In early January there is an event for everyone who finished the prior year. It costs $20 to join, but you get it back in the form of a $20 gift card upon finishing. So really it is a win win for beer drinkers. The food is way better than I think people give it credit for. There is a monthly menu with seasonal options. This is my favorite menu to order from. Everything I've had was delicious. The November and December Beer Cheese options have been my favorite. Their standard menu has a ton of options. Burgers, sandwiches, wings, salads, entrees, appetizers, dessert. They have it all and they have many options of each category/type of food. I've heard quite a few people call it "typical bar food" but I really think this is not giving it the proper credit. The downside is wait time and speed of staff. There is no one assigned to bus or clean the tables. The wait staff have to clear their own table. On top of actually serving their other tables. There won't be a time when you are there and don't see several empty tables still covered in dirty plates. It's frustrating. And it seems like it could be an easy fix. The hosts could chip in and help. They could have one person dedicated to bussing tables and doing other things in their down time. I've never seen this anywhere else. Probably because it takes away from service being provided to the customer. The wait staff have always been fabulous and friendly. They are as fast as the possibly can be, but the business model works against them. I think really what is going to draw you here is going to be the beer list. If you enjoy trying something new or having a huge variety of options, this is your place! read more

We were staying across the street at the Homewood Suites, and didn't feel like driving anywhere for dinner so we just walked across the street to the Winking Lizard. It's obviously a pretty popular spot with the locals, probably because they have some decent dinner deals every night of the week. Thursday night it was burgers for $7.69, so we each had a burger It was still happy hour so $1 off drafts and $1 off my house Margarita. For two burgers, one beer, one margarita, and up charge for onion rings, the bill came to just over $30. That was a good part. The not-so-good part was when the food was delivered to us the onion rings were barely warm, definitely not hot. Same thing with the french fries. We asked the server who delivered our food for ketchup and vinegar and gave up on them about 10 minutes later and just ate our food as is since without he condiments. We both ordered of our Burgers medium. They definitely came out medium rare, tending a little bit more towards the rare side. If you're just looking for a quick bite to eat and don't want to break the bank, this is a decent place to come. read more

My coworker and I decided to visit this place since it was convenient to our hotel. It was a bit crowded but we didn't mind. It happened to be the opening day of baseball and the Cleveland Indians were playing. I ordered the shrimp and crab quesadillas and my coworker ordered a cheeseburger and fries. Typical bar food, right. Also, let me add that it was a Monday night and on Mondays, wings are $0.55 each. I was unimpressed with my meal. While my quesadilla had a nice taste, there were way too many chopped onions on it. Every bite was a bit crunchy from all of the bits of chopped onion. The quesadilla was a nice size that came cut into four pieces. After eating the first piece, I was ready to stop eating. I ate another piece and by that time, I was done. Our waiter offered a to-go box, which I took. I ended up throwing the rest of that quesadilla in the trash later. I don't think I'd visit this place again. read more

Recently my family came in for a quick and casual dinner at this location. We often frequent Winking Lizard's around CLE and this was the least impressive service and meal in our experience. From our arrival we knew it was going to be an off experience. The hostess was slow and confused on where to seat us, as it appeared that she truly had no idea what was going on or how to perform her job duties of determining a seating location. It had nothing to do low availability, it was simply her seeming on the entire process. Once seated, the dining area was quite messy, food on the floors, and slow bus service to come and clean tables around us. Additionally, our waitress, though nice, was exceptionally slow and delivered several incorrect orders and got confused several times. We spent an extremely long period of time here just for a quick dinner, and there were only six of us. The food was fine, as always, but that was with us settling for incorrect meal orders and just going with the flow. Honestly, to have said anything would have prolonged our time here exponentially. Even to get a beverage refill took at least 10 minutes after ordering it. Overall, we are fully aware that Winking Lizard is not fine dining, nor is it 5-star service. However there is solid casual dining food, so we do expect a clean environment with proper service to go along with it. We will return, because this was not quite enough to deter us from our casual "nobody wants to cook or get dressed up" frequent family catch-up dinners here. However, one more experience like this will most likely deter us from continuing to bring our business here. read more

While there I ate the cheese stixs, and had the shrum burger it was delicious, maybe the best burger I've had in a while, their french fries I can live with, they weren't good at all. I would say Wink's is a good lunch spot or a good place to come drink beer and watch sports. They have a good draft beer selection and flat screen TV's everywhere. I came here for lunch one day and I had the pressed buffalo chicken wrap and it was very delicious! They serve it with bleu cheese dipping sauce but I asked for ranch dressing instead. The fries were excellent and were seasoned perfectly. I've been to Winking Lizard many times before and I wouldn't say Wink's is a step up but just more geared toward being a family friendly restaurant rather than a bar. They have a huge outdoor patio space which is nice in the summer. Our service was good and our waitress was very nice. I've heard from some co-workers that they have really good wings so I would recommend trying that if you go there. But don't forget you can't go wrong with the buffalo chicken wrap as well! read more

Came here with some friends to hang out and catch up. They have been here a lot, since it is handy and kid-friendly. Seriously, reading the menu I thought it was just for kids. Chicken wings, of course, and chicken in various other guises. Burgers and sandwiches, etc. The adults can have a drink, there's music and TV plus popcorn and games for distractions, and you're set. It is loud, but not crazy. Service was very good. Overall it's a bit like Roosters or Applebee's. The wings were fine, though not great: meaty but small. Plenty of interesting sauces. We had the seasonal bourbon (sweet, tangy, very good;) spicy garlic (not super hot, plenty of garlic, perhaps my favorite;) spicy sesame (just a little heat, plus sweetness;) and goldfinger (sweet and tangy, pretty good.) Upcharges for celery (4 measly pieces) and dressing (generic tub.) Seriously, why do these places charge extra for that? And if you're going to, at least make it worth it. I had wings the other day and had to add-on, but I got 10 fresh big pieces of celery, plus a container of very good dressing. /Rant. It's a little expensive; we paid $60-plus for three adults and a kid, and we were really just snacking while we talked, not eating a full meal.
