Pulled Pork Sandwich - Take Out
    Daniel D.

Excellent bar and restaurant in a very convenient area. This place has a secret Puerto Rican menu and I have to tell you the food was delectable. They serve very large portions, my wife and I both got the pork served with rice, potato salad and plantains. This is a must try restaurant that gives great value for your hard earned dollar.

Good food at a good price. Being a bar I wasn't expecting much when I order Mac N Cheese, but this was so good and fancier than expected.

My attempt at getting a pic of the cauliflower steak burger...it was a beast! Yay!

At first glance this restaurant looks like another typical sports bar, but looks are deceiving. It's a relaxed, family friendly bar atmosphere which I am seeing more of these days. We were immediately waited on by Erica O. She was sweet and courteous. The menu is refreshingly different from the usual pub fare, in that they have a cool $2 menu of tasty sliders and other apps. I started off with a Mexican mule made with some kinda cinnamon tequila. It was different but good. Then my hubby ordered a Cuban slider and a black and blue slider. I ordered the fried pickles. All 3 were just $2 each (what a deal) and really tasty. The Cuban slider did have a bit too much sauce on it, though. For our dinners we had the Classic burger with sage fries and the cauliflower steak burger with onion rings. It's really exciting for me as a vegetarian that there are items on the menu that I can eat other than the typical lousy black bean burger! Both burgers were tasty, but I found the sun-dried tomato aioli to be a bit too greasy for my liking on the cauliflower burger. I look forward to my next visit to Two Bucks so I can explore more of their interesting menu. Worth checking out if you're in the neighborhood.

A cold classic IPA and cloud fuel.

Girl behind bar was very friendly. Burger was good but well done - not medium well. Note to self medium next time. Fries were very good hot and fresh.

Food and service were outstanding. I had the Caprese Flatbread and Mom had the grilled cheese and bacon- cheddar with Pepperjack and tomato on sourdough with garlic fries- yum! High quality, generous servings, fair price.

Service is inconsistent. Tiffany is awful. Food is good. Bar atmosphere. It could be a good place but it needs better leadership.

I will say the service was very slow, especially considering it was a Monday and hardly anyone else there - but I do acknowledge that they are a from scratch kitchen, so it makes sense. "Hook and Hoof" has been in downtown Willoughby for quite a while so they must be doing something right. And the fact that there aren't that many high level dining establishments in the Willoughby area helps. The first thing I noticed was the facility is very narrow which lends to a crowded feel. And all you need is one overly boisterous table (which was right next to us) and the noise level can be overwhelming. The server we had for the evening was very pleasant. She did a good job being timely with everything. But, it was odd that she often did not listen to an entire request (or maybe just couldn't hear) before walking away. There were a couple of requests for simple standard items that she wasn't even sure they had. I just found it odd. The food however was excellent. The kitchen staff did an exemplary job all night. I had a marvelous cocktail from the well stocked bar. And my double cut pork chop was fantastic. So full of flavor, juicy, cooked exactly as I requested. The sides that accompanied it were just tender enough without being mushy. And my banana cream pie was great. Overall, I give "Hook and Hoof" a solid 4. I definitely can see us going back. They deserve another try. You should give them a try and see for yourself.

I also asked for a lemon wedge, not a slice, since you can't squeeze a slice. Next came our espresso martinis, one for each of us. We actually felt the bang for our buck -- strong, well-balanced, and worth every penny. For our appetizer, we shared the gluten-free BBT meatballs. It was delightful. Then our Cobb salads arrived, each with shrimp added. We requested a side of extra-virgin olive oil -- not a blend -- and the kitchen got it right. For dessert, we shared the cheesecake, minus the graham cracker crust because my friend is gluten-free. I would have preferred the kitchen plate it for sharing and provide dessert silverware with it, instead of us having to flag someone down. I'm also industrial seed oil free, and Hailey was attentive to both of our dietary needs throughout. The manager, Chris Nichols, stopped by to check in and ensure we were satisfied -- a clear sign the restaurant is customer centric. I actually thought Chris was the GM. Kudos to the general manager, Ben Lano, for inspiring great teamwork. Lastly, I give the ambience four stars, simply because we don't have a Michelin-starred restaurant in Ohio.

Our reservation was 07:15pm and we were greeted and seated promptly. The servers were spectacular. They were very attentive and paid close attention detail. The servers made sure we had beverages at all times. Now on to the food and drinks. I had the espresso martini it was of the best I've ever had. For dinner I ordered the catch of the day which was a seafood linguine and it was good little spice which elevated the dish to new heights. I also had the spinach dip very flavorful. My husband had the meatballs and for entree the prime rib sandwich which he said was delicious. Overall the ambiance was very pleasant and the staff were very welcoming. I can't wait to dine here again.
