It's been quite a while since we have been in a Winn Dixie supermarket. They closed the one near our house many years ago. We were not far away and searching for a particular item that we thought WD might carry. We'd already found Walmart Neighborhood Markets didn't have it. And WD used to be known for their meats per their promotions in their old advertising. So we took a quick walk around. The store is large, neat, and well organized. But since it's in an upscale and touristy area, prices are a bit high. There are not many regular supermarkets near the beach, so they do have an advantage, however. After checking them out, we were not successful in our search. But we are glad we stopped in to see what they do have here. read more

This is the closest supermarket to where we stay when in town, so it has been the go-to for years while being quite adequate and not unreasonably expensive. When the new Publix opens down the street from us, I suppose that will be the new go-to. The key to W-D is the rewards program. If you don't sign up, you don't get the discounts. Make sure you get a membership tied to your cell number. My number one complaint is that most of the "fresh" bakery items are not in fact fresh but frozen first and then stocked on the shelves. Not too big of a deal except when it comes to the bagels (at least for me). Good beer and wine prices. So that helps win me over. read more

Going into this store makes me feel very uncomfortable because the employees are not friendly. They do not give a friendly "hello", and they don't smile. They act like they are doing you a favor when you ask for help, and it is not that clean. It is difficult to get help as many do not understand or speak English at a level for basic communication. You would think they could the first thing customers see upon entering the store, which is the front doors. Take a look at these pictures. Last time I was at the store, I noticed some really fun items that are really cool to serve when people come over, like the sweet Meringues..which are very popular in Latin America and many people in the US have not had yet...or.... cheddar crisps with exotic and fun flavors....Popcorn made with Himalayan Pink salt and coconut oil.....some vanilla toasted cakes.....some ventaglini (Italian puffed pastry) .......or some Hot Pickles. This Winn Dixie is located close to the beach. There are lots of seasonal & beachy stuff available. The store is clean. The variety of food items are not as plentiful as Publix but not bad for the most part. The BOGO's are worth the trip- for sure. The checkout lines can be long & that's annoying. However, most of the time they are ok. The workers are very nice & usually pack for you. Sometimes not. It depends on when you decide to shop. read more

Beware of the pasta at this location. It is infested with beetles. Over a year ago you could see them inside the boxes. I took a box to the manager and he stated they knew about it and had already taken measures to combat the problem, yet it was still on the shelf. I should not have let this stand at that time. I went a long time not buying it there. I recently bought some thinking the problem would long have been resolved. It isn't. I am reporting this to the health department this time. I would say this is the first time shopping Winn-Dixie and I was intrigued by the flyer that was sent for this week's BOGOs. No fault to the delivery driver but to the store that half of my $110 order had to be refunded. If you advertise products, have them in stock. That's business operations 101. Especially when the sale is through next week and I'm early. Really what could be improved is not the disappointment of missing items and don't send flyers for items you didn't think to stock. Ok, so again Winn Dixie advertises (Whole Beef Tenderloin) for $7.99lb. Sale started today Dec 29. I drive there at 11am and don't see any in the cooler. I ask the butcher and he said they're out of them with a stutter. I ask him, are you out already or they never came in? He said, they'll be here tomorrow! This place is notorious for false advertising. They place an ad in their flyer which they never had intention on selling. They know that a beef tenderloin at $7.99lb is extremely cheap so it will drive customers to their store and if they don't have the tenderloin in stock, then they are hoping customers will shop for other items. Clean and good deals ..i came in this morning for beer and water for my poolside lounge time..i went over to seafood for crab legs.. I asked did they steam them..i told them I would return this afternoon for my lunch. When i returned Ignacio really took good care of me. I got 1.5lbs. Of steamed crab legs loaded with old bay... they were delicious...and i was stuffed.. check out their deli they have a full hot bar with delicious looking dishes. Ribs, Chicken (different varietes) and wings, baked fish, and a host of side dishes to complete and compliment your meat choice. Gotta check that out on my next visit. Check out with Barb was a hot. Winn Dixie at Galt Ocean Mile. 3800 N Ocean Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308 To whom it may concern?, On 4-17-22 at 5:11pm my wife and I shopped your store located above. First of all I want to say that this is one of our favorite Winn Dixie stores located in close proximity to our home. Unfortunately I have some concerns that I want to bring to your attention. I am attaching photos that I took so you can see the issues. I am an elderly disabled man who enjoys shopping. I also look forward to utilizing your electric mobile shopping carts that assist me comfortably. Unfortunately in this case your store has 2 electric carts. One of which is defective because the seat actuator does not engage thus making the scooter inoperable. This caused me to be stuck in the middle of the parking lot with an inoperable scooter. My wife returned back inside the store a SECOND time to get the other remaining cart for me. Both of these scooters are inundated with rust as you can see in the picture. Nevertheless I chose to use this cart to proceed in our shopping. First thing we always do is go to the COVID sanitary station to use the wipes in hope of disinfecting the scooters driving handles. This Unfortunately was not achievable because your COVID sanitary station was in disrepair as evident in the photos I took. This disturbs me because of the germs that are laden on the scooter and the overall appearance of this RUSTY cart. Fortunately for me my wife had returned to the parking lot a THIRD time to retrieve some sanitary wipes we had in our car to resolve this. What can Winn Dixie do to make the shopping experience for the elderly and disabled a helpful and enjoyable time??? First purchase 4 brand new electric scooter shopping carts. Secondly maintain the Covid sanitary stations. Third utilize the people that were milling about in the lot to do their jobs as helpful attendants!!! As a matter of fact one person ATTENDANT who watched our ordeal was quick to mention the fact that the one cart had problems, but did not offer assistance nor got the other cart for us. NOR in the end of our shopping time assisted us in loading our vehicle. Enough of that. On a positive note an individual you have working in the meat department stocking was above and beyond helpful. In fact after disrupting his stocking several times he did not complain and offered help with a smile. We truly hope all this does not fall on deaf ears. Thank you. read more

I only run in here when I need a few items and don't want to drive to Publix. Many times, the items are not there or the dates are very close to expiration, you have to check every date in this store. The check outs are always crowded with maybe one cashier working, so always a wait even if you have one or two items. The sale items in the brochure are not in the store or not marked, you need a copy of the brochure when checking out so you can argue for the price. Last year and now this year, not one Christmas decoration, not a wreath, lights, nothing. Just one very large Chanukah light set up when you enter. Between the two remaining standard supermarket chains here, Publix is closer to me, but I prefer to come to Winn-Dixie, mainly for their weekly sales. Publix may be the South Florida monopoly (two across the street from each other?), but it shows in their monopolistic pricing. I am a budget-conscious food shopper, and tend to stay away from the high-end gourmet/organic chains. This Winn-Dixie has clean, wide aisles, a huge if not varied produce section, a big deli and bakery, and not a lot of shoppers. I've never had more than 1-2 people ahead of me in line. The store focuses on its upscale, retired residential condo Galt Mile customer base. I like their small senior citizen shopping carts so much that I use them every time! I guess I'm aging into that bracket! With its customer base focus, the most ethnic item will be LaChoy soy sauce. Any Asian produce, such as ginger root, will be marked up at least 3-4-5x prices at Asian markets. Unfortunately, practically every single time I go here on Sunday to shop for their advertised special Sat-Sun only meat sales, they are out of it. It's as if the butchers are told to not restock the sale items. Sometimes I can hunt a butcher down and he'll be able to accommodate with cutting and packaging more in the back. But it's a wait. Keep the meat weekend specials stocked and displayed, and I'll shop here more often. read more

the customer service here is HORRIBLE!!!!! i got into a issue at the check out center and explained to the lady that i was having a problem with the machine. she rolls her eyes and sucks her teeth and tells me its because my child keeps touching it when he was NOT it was already glitching before he stood by me. Then it happened in front of her and she suck's teeth rescans everything then select my payment option as if i told her what it was (she picked EBT) by the way and walks off. problem still not solved so i proceeded to find someone else spots this short indian woman and asked for a manager she starts laughing and sticks her head in freezer then i opened the door where she was hiding in and asked where is the manager she tells me shes off the clock!!!!! so i politely went back to self check out and put all my items on the belt at a register with a human and paid with my debit card. at this store i was profiled judged and disrespected never again!!!! read more

As far as South Florida grocery stores go, the area is pretty much dominated by Publix and Winn-Dixie though Trader Joe's, Fresh Market, Whole Foods and some of the like are moving in on the action. Basically, in my opinion, Publix is the best and generally dominates the market with Winn-Dixie trailing a distant second. The stores vary in size from one to the other along with the selection of their offerings. This particular Winn-Dixie is one of the better ones, has an enviable location between the highways of Gult Ocean Drive and the A1A section of North Ocean Boulevard, catering to the rather affluent high-rise condo dwellers of Gult Ocean Mile. Hence, it's somewhat more upscale than most. It's one of Winn-Dixie's larger stores, has a very good expansive produce section, a super great deli and one of the better meat sections of any grocery store around. The store is spotlessly clean, all of the employees are generally polite, well-mannered and more than willing to be helpful. What it seems to lack, however, are certain off beat items generally ethnic in nature. For example, when I last visited they didn't have any pickled ginger, though they did have jarred ginger slices, no fig vinegars or any of the out of the ordinary or more exotic vinegars, no dry ice and one thing sort of personal to me that I miss, being a scale to weigh myself, the results of which I tend to keep in mind with regards to my shopping selections. But maybe that is exactly why they don't have a weighing scale. That or maybe due to the obesity of some of the shoppers, all their weigh scales are broken. One of things which some people like but which I find annoying is their Winn-Dixie shopping card. For me, the cards are a pain in ass to carry around, offer only marginal savings hardly worth the bother and, though I have no way of knowing for sure, seem to be the root of a certain informational distribution of my shopping habits. For example, I had to get a supply of baby food for an elderly person who had just undergone stomach surgery. After purchasing large amounts of baby food and using one of their cards, my mailbox seemed to soon get stuffed with all sorts of coupons and baby product advertisements, even some "congratulations on having a baby" cards; a matter difficult for me to write off as merely being coincidental. read more

Want to use a store advertised 50% OFF, or 75% OFF holiday markdown which perhaps has never been keyed into the computer but requires a "manual" override to ring up the new sale price? Be warned! Your 2 minute request may take an extra 20+ minutes because of either poorly trained, or apathetic personnel behind the registers and a manager behind the service counter that is only capable of cashing a paycheck, not tending to customers' requests. I used to enjoy the local supermarket service at this Winn-Dixie location. of course the rank and file employees (clerks, stockers, etc.) are 95% competent and diligent, hard working individuals who deserve our admiration. Now unfortunately, the management is not today, in my opinion, at all conscientious or customer centric. Employees who either aren't trained to accept a simple clearance discount at the register, or could not care enough to bother learning, should never have been promoted to a manager! It is a shame that this once-great market is no longer really worth my time, unless I have a lot of time to waste, which I really shouldn't any longer after all they put me through that night in the store when I was accused of shoplifting and illegally detained. After I finally let the manager know that I was not too happy with being held up over such price discrepancy matters every time I'm in the store, her lack of valid responses to alleviate the situation, accepting no responsibility whatsoever for any of their possible accounting mistakes, really irked me more than the $15.00 in overcharges on my latest receipt. I could have accepted a difference of opinion, except that it felt like Ozy, the acting store manager at the time, had turned everything I said back on me and started to fault me for buying things off the wrong shelf. She claimed that I was getting charged correctly, and that I must not understand how her store operates because I did not work there and she did. I cannot accept that ridiculous explanation, because the package in question before my very eyes and hers, had been marked down from 9.99 each to 2.50 each. The orange sticker was pretty plain as day, and was in no way a labeling error as the acting clerk manager, Ozy, continued to pretend. Fed up once and for all with being labeled as a cheapass or a crook, I subsequently left the store and sent my complaint in to SE Grocery's corporate office. I am pretty convinced they do not even value my future business. I am currently waiting for the response from corporate, during which time I shall probably never set foot in the store again, but will have to drive the extra distance to use Publix and Target instead (like 90% of most everyone else from around here already seems to do, anyway). read more

What can I say about this store without sounding horrible? They NEVER have enough checkout aisles open. I went there on a Friday at 6:30 pm and there were 2 aisles open + the express lane that also does the lottery and returns. Between all aisles there were probably 15-20 people wanting to check out. It took me well over 15 minutes and the same guy was in the express aisle as when I first got in another line. My checker made repeated mistakes on the customer in front of me so she called the manager over several times and while waiting he never bagged a single item. NOTE: they had no baggers. The store always feels a little dirty/poorly maintained. The carts could use a good washing. Their overall selection is okay. Most things are in stock. Customer service at the deli is always helpful. Back to my original issue of the checkout. This issue is the last impression before you leave and it is the main problem. And because this issue is the same issue I've had for three years and it has NEVER improved, I won't be going back anytime soon. Drive the extra mile to Publix in LBTS. read more

I once in a while shop at your 3800 N Ocean Blvd Store and I must say your cashiers are the rudest cashiers I've ever experienced. I must of shopped there 30 times I the last year and I can say all my experiences with check out have been negative. I do most of my shopping at Publix and I must say every time I shop there from the minute I walk in the door until I check out everyone seems to value my business and have been friendly. Never again!! I recently moved to the Galt area and began shopping at WD after shopping at Publix in my old neighborhood. WD is the only store anywhere near where I live now. Never again. Today I left my cart for a minute (literally) to pick up my last few items, then couldn't find it again. Spent five minutes looking for it with no help. Found out that their policy is to remove unattended carts. They returned the cart to me but half the (unperishable) items had been removed so I had to start over. It will be worth it to drive to Publix for higher prices and better service. read more

Employees are generally helpful, I have been shopping here for 7 years, and for 7 years the women who work behind the deli counter are awful. It's a race to see who can be the slowest, and first prize to the employee who can ignore you the longest. This Winn Dixie is located at the far end of a strip mall, and though the parking lot isn't large, I've not had a problem finding parking relatively close to the door even on weekends. This store is relatively small compared to some, which means they don't have the largest selection of some items such as meats for instance, and if you come here later in the day once those things are picked over, the selection is even more limited. That being said, they have a decent bakery and deli, the employees are friendly and helpful, and as a bonus, this Winn-Dixie still has 4 self-service check outs so if you only have a few items or if you wish to scan and bag your own items, you can. read more

Popped in to get a few items on a Sunday, store was "messy", the staff that I did see couldnt care less - bagger and check out person passing a phone between themselves and saying they cant wait to leave "this *%÷( place " (they thought I didnt hear that...) Got double charged on 2 items (thanks!) I purchased some beef - got home, saw that it was imported, not usda graded only inspected, and it tasted like a leather boot. That's right I wandered wearing a swimsuit and tank. And no one care. Clean, well laid out, had the basic items I needed to enhance my beach adventure. Winn Dixie is not my favorite grocer in the area, but if I had to go to one again, I would only go to this one. Located in a prime location I figured it would be packed, however the lines were very manageable and the line moved quickly. They have a large hot bar slash wing bar. The guys behind the counter were young and not very fast, but the customers in line didn't make things any better. The food was hot and was very fresh. Nothing is worse than getting food that has been set out all day long. I like my dinner hot, not luke warm. The grocery was very clean and even through I didn't need anything from the produce I made sure to look at it because I wanted to see if it was fresh and it was. The lines at check out went well. They have an assortment of self-checkouts which always cause delays. They had a manager around making sure to speed up any hiccups that occurred. They offer free coffee in the morning. If I lived closer I would stop their daily. Free is free. And if you sign up for their card you'll save on your purchase so that always helps especially when you're cheap like I am. read more

If expired or soon to expire groceries are your thing, this is the place for you. If you're really into mismarked items and like to come back into the store and wait in a super long customer service line for adjustments after already waiting in a long line to check out, you'll love it here because it happens all the time. If you like rude, slow, careless employees who rarely smile, go here. The ice cream and a lot of other frozen items are all covered in frost. Shelves are never fully stocked and stock is not rotated. Tasks are more important than customers, Bread is never fresh. most times very hard, store is not clean, cashiers are not friendly...what's up with all this.
