This is definitely a passion project and what a memorable one it is. I had copied a list of houses displaying Christmas lights and this house was one of the ones on the list. When we got there, the street was closed so we parked next street over. There was also a long line. The people just in front of us questioned if it was worth the wait. The people in front of them turned around and said they were here last year and it's definitely worth the wait. They said they even donated to help with this passion project. I started my timer to see how long it would take from the corner of the block to finish. When we were done, this adventure took 45mins and it was well worth it! I have attached some photos but no videos because I don't want to ruin the wonder of it all if it's your first time visiting this house like us. It is truly well done. It wa also heart warming how well behaved everyone was. It got a bit chaotic with people going in and go to take a look at the wonderful displays but no one actually cut in line. Everyone was in the holiday spirit and nice/respectful to each other. We really had a Christmas good time. Fabulous holiday exhibition at the Fairmont Princess Hotel in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Fairmont is a five star hotel found all over the world in the most glamorous of locations and is quite pricey. Their winter wonderland Christmas exhibition definitely lives up to their name. Tickets are $65 per person to enter their private section. We opted to purchase this extra and didn't regret it. There were fire pits where you could roast marshmallows and sip on hot chocolate. They also had an outdoor bar where you could warm up with some spirits. Snow tubing was my fave and the Ferris wheel was quite enjoyable as well because you could see the hotel grounds that were glowing and flashing with Christmas delight. Private crystal domes were available for purchase beginning at $1200 for 4 people up to $2800. The Fairmont also has free viewing for the public in 7 different themed areas, winding through the hotel grounds, including a nativity show, falling snow, light shows with music and animated singing characters. Parking was $40. Definitely worth the visit even if you opt out of the private section. Great family event that the kiddos would thoroughly enjoy and best of all you can bring your pups! read more

Mean man who lied to me about the place being closed - he said everything was turned off and unplugged but I asked to take a peek while I walking but he told me it was too unsafe to walk around once it's unplugged. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place. I saw all the lights still on over the fence and the motorized reindeer head moving still, completely all lit behind the fence. Not the nicest neighborhood either, a couple of the other houses are lit but it's lined off with cones as well. It reeked of marijuana outside as well. I truly hate people who lie straight to your face about things. There was also a group of several people standing out front I didn't find to be too friendly either who left right after I had walked up to the house next door - which also had deflated inflatables lying all over the driveway (which the guy said was the reason it would be too unsafe for me to be back there). Not sure why I was turned away but I guess they don't like parties of one plus their dog. I don't know if it matters I had his stroller or if dogs are allowed either way - I won't be back to find out. ***EDIT*** after writing this post I received a dead bird on my front porch. It's a tradition for me to visit this Scottsdale Valley home because I have a family member that lives down the street. This house puts up over 250,000 lights every year and has been doing this for over 35 years. Winter Wonderland runs through the month of December and accepts donations to walk through it. In addition to lights, there are Christmas characters, walk-through displays, pyrotechnics and snow that falls on you. They also have a window where you can order hot chocolate and marshmallows. There is a nearby firepit where you can toast them. For Halloween, they turn their house into the Haunted Graveyard which always draws a long line down the street. read more

"Winter wonderland", definitely a magical place here in Arizona. I can't even imagine how long it takes for them to decorate these houses but this was truly a magical place. It was even in a movie. God bless people like you to give so many people enjoyment. This was free to do, you park, and you walk around. It was Christmas Eve in Scottsdale and we were looking to celebrate the season. A light show sounded good this cold winter night. Music was playing. Bright lights lit up this one block. Hot chocolate and marshmallows were for sale. A castle was the centerpiece. Snow was falling. There was a backyard scene from the "Island of Misfit Toys". My DD and I didn't go home for the holidays this year, so we were bored and looking for something to do on the evening of Christmas Day. I opened the Yelp app and the first thing I saw was a Yelp friend's photos of this place. I checked the website first, which offered helpful tips (e.g. park on Granite Reef and walk to the house) and tidbits (a suggested donation of $5 is appreciated). There was a nice crowd already there when we arrived, but it never felt too crowded. I was able to park on Granite Reef, walk across the street, and to the house, about a hundred feet away. The display and light show was amazing. Keep in mind, this is actually someone's home, which they've opened (the outside grounds; not the inside. Please don't try to get inside their home.) to the public to enjoy. The front yard was completely transformed into a winter wonderland. During the light show, the lights will dance along to the beat of the music selection. There was manufactured snowfall at various times throughout our time there. It was so beautiful. There were lots of selfie and group photo opportunities, from the front yard's display, the humongous bear and sled, snowman, and reindeer on their driveway. Walk up the driveway and enter the next phase, which included a fire pit with tree stump seats and utensils for making s'mores and roasting marshmallows, and a makeshift festive walk-through "mine," which included a Frozen display, complete with the soundtrack. So if you heard a grown woman painfully belting out, 'Let it Go,' that was unapologetically me. They also had a stand, where you could buy hot cocoa (in regular or the family recipe), marshmallows, etc. I thanked the woman at the stand for opening up their home and bringing joy. (She said it was her son's house.) The public was well behaved and courteous, with the exception of a male who thought it was a good idea to show up (with his son) wearing a hat with Trump's words "Grab her by the ....." on it. Dude, politics aside, that was just plain ole bad taste. THINK OF THE CHILDREN! The display is open from 07Dec-31Dec (for 2016), from 6pm-10pm. I happily left my donation in one of the various donation slots throughout the property. I can only imagine what that APS bill must be by the end of the season. Great value, awesome display, but overcrowded and there's no one directing the flow of people and traffic. We stood in line for over an hour in a line that wrapped around the corner, and watched as several people cut the line ahead of us. One family who attempted it became very hostile and threatening! Not my idea of Xmas Spirit... hopefully things change for the better. read more

This is a MUST SEE for your Christmas light viewing adventures! There was a long line to get in to the main attraction in the backyard, but I found it was definitely worth it. There's plenty to entertain you while you're in line- with the elaborate light display coordinated to music, plus bubble machines and snow! I was in awe of what they've created in their backyard. I felt like I was in Disneyland, about to go on Big Thunder Mountain, as I walked through the mine shaft/tunnel. This place was truly a delight, and the sweet kids selling "family recipe" hot chocolate at the end were adorable. read more

BEST PLACE EVER definitely come here snow and bubbles were coming out from the roof I loved it everything was great they had a mine cave and they even decorated their pond with ice there was a present from the roof hanging up and down and after all that when it was the end of the mine was a bridge and Under the chain bridge was a big hole covered with glass when it finally was going to finish there was a box with glass on it and it had a bomb in it I'm not sure if it's fake there was also a fire place where you can warm up if you don't have a jacket or didn't bring one but if you did probably wear it but it was pretty cold besides all that the place was amazing now I know why it's called winter wonderland I most liked the chain bridge I think I put way too many details read more

The light show and snow were very nice. Edward Scissor Hands plays in the background while the home owners sell s'mores and hot coco. You can roast marshmallows over a real fire and walk through the back yard which has a Frozen themed pool. You get to walk through a mine shaft looking thing where the elves work too. There are villages and lots of sound effects. Very immaculate. Very cool! TIP: Try to go later on a weekday (before 10pm closing) and the place won't be as crowded. read more
