We love our Bo dog! Leah is excellent and good people. She runs a huge farm and you can just tell she loves the animals. We asked realistic questions and were treated with kindness and respect. As a responsible, potential pet owner you have to do your research and have a good vet lined up. You will have to have your puppy seen the first week and avoid areas like Petco and dog parks until your pet is fully vaxxed! They can pick stuff up anywhere and get sick. 6 years ago, I purchased a Maltese/Yorkie mix puppy from the WinterHill Kennel. The price was fantastic - cheapest in Massachusetts for a Morkie at the time. I was also able to meet the mom (a Maltese) and dad (a Yorkie) upon request. We named her Cinnamon and she is the healthiest dog - the vet says she has a "strong heart" and is doing so well. Do not purchase from here!! Puppy mill type situation. This place needs to be shut down. My dog was used for breeding in this place when i adopted her from a shelter she was in rough shape. Underweight, low muscle tone, literally had just given birth when animal control picked her up. She had to get half of her teeth pulled due to them rotted. She had a mass that got removed and was treated for severe yeast infections in both ears. She was filthy. She is thriving now but has some health issues due to the neglect she faced and kept in a cage most her life. Had to learn how to be a dog. This person needs to be held responsible and not let other dogs go through what my dog endured. I am honestly not sure why she is still in business as there are multiple complaints on different sites. read more

I asked this breeder some very simple questions before bringing a dog home. She immediately terminated the agreement. Told me I was being ridiculous and she doesn't fee comfortable with us taking the puppy. I simply asked if the dog had any fleas, ear mites, etc. I received one picture of the dog with its eyes half closed. The dog didn't appear to be heathy and before I exposed my dogs to a new one I wanted to make sure. She can health guarantee the puppy but what if my dogs got sick? This place is on the Humane Society's top 100 worst breeders list. Called me Karen for asking normal questions. Run don't walk away from this place! We contacted Winterhill in November about bringing home a puppy for our kids for Christmas. They were amazing from the start suggesting to keep our Sully until Christmas Eve to be sure he went directly from them to us. When we went to pick him up everything was great and they went over everything we needed to know and answered all our questions. I have reached out several times since with questions and they are so responsive and helpful. Our first vet visit our vet told us how healthy, happy and all up to date Sully was. My kids were very surprised on Christmas with this lovable, sweet natured, busy little dog, he has continued to grow with us and be just as healthy and become a great fit to our family. This is the most cruel and thoughtless owner. She had a family who backed out of a puppy because it was too snowy out, so she offered a discounted rate on a 10-week old puppy. No deposit required. We already had an application submitted and approved, so we swooped in that day and said we would take him. All week of conversations back and forth we set up a time and date to pick him up. On the morning of going to pick up our puppy, literally 30 minutes from getting in the car, we get a message saying the family who backed out wants him back and we can't have him. We spent the whole week buying stuff for our new boy. Name tag, toys, and everything else. We have messages saying that we were the first in line and people were behind us waiting. After telling us this she showed no emotion and was very rude in her messages. She is doing this so she can sell the puppy at the normal rate to the original family and not the discount rate she offered to us. She offered us her puppy (a female) that she was going to keep. She has no emotional attachment to these animals, even ones she considers "her own." Had she told us this scenario could happen, we would have picked him up the day of the posting. We were told we didn't need a deposit, so why would we think that this cruel and thoughtless thing could even happen. But according to her very condescending reply "we have no obligation to anyone." We are heartbroken and devastated this happened to us and we want to make sure other people don't have to deal with this on the morning they are going to pick up the newest member of their family. read more

Let me start by saying I never purchases a puppy here or used their services. But Leah has to be one of the most unprofessional business owners I have EVER encountered. After discussing meeting a left over pup she had for sale, I decided not to purchase from them after doing a simple google search and reading AWFUL things about their pups. Things from dogs covered in fleas and infested with ear mites, to deadly blood diseases and infections, to puppy mill conditions. I nicely told her that we decided to adopt from a shelter, we really couldn't afford the cost of a pure breed, never insinuating she was over priced, just that I simply couldn't afford it. She then wrote a Facebook post BLASTING me for being a loser and going to a shelter yada yada yada. I saved all the screen shots if anyone would like to see them. When I nicely called her out on the situation she deleted my comment and blocked me. Her Facebook reviews were also all posted on the same day, about dogs that are years old. Almost like she was trying to bump out the bad reviews. Just all around shady. I strongly encourage anyone considering them, to do a google search and poke around. I understand not everything on the internet is true, but there are way too many to be false. read more

When I picked up my my puppy from Leah she had green snot crusting around her nose. Her and her daughter assured my family that it was from the kennel cough nasal spray and it would clear up. We brought my pup to the vet and we were told she has a respiratory infection. Our vet also told us kennel cough does not cause green snot and that our pup should not have been sold to us with that condition. She was on antibiotics for months. We love our pup but if we did not treat her infection as fast as we did, the vet said she might not have survived. Thankful she fought hard. read more

We bought a golden from Winterhill. It was odd to us. The dogs were in the back, and she would carry a couple out at a time, bring them to us and put them in a pen so we could meet them. We were claimed by our guy! But then, the poor pup came home super sick, coccidia which can be common, fleas and tapeworms then kennel cough. I was blamed on my dog getting kennel cough from the vet we took him to. They were nice and paid for the medicine for his first visit for the coccidia, but as the issues piled up, there were excuses and I just stopped bothering keeping them posted. You can tell they are not the type to own up to their mistakes. He also has a small trachea from xrays, which could end up being an issue. I wasn't going to leave a review on Facebook, because it looks like they find a way to take them down. I'm sure there will be some sort of rebuttle on here too, but I think people should know, they are selling sick puppies. read more

My poor Copper has been nothing but sick and has been to the vet over 12 times including emergency visits. We are so devastated and have still no answers as to what is wrong with him. I have nothing to gain from this review other than to state my own personal experience. First off, we were sold a beautiful, fat, healthy Lab puppy from this kennel. She is confident, happy and has a shining coat and vet checked healthy. Second, I find it convenient that all the reviews about the HSUS list came in at the same time. Considering the HSUS is a corrupt as they come and donates a staggering 1% of their donations to shelters; were forced to settle a $15.75 million dollar racketeering suit; have a charity rating of "D"; and have endorsed Michael Vick!!!!! I don't put much stock in anything they say or the people that are jumping on the band wagon and have no actual first hand experience with this kennel. Third, the contract we signed has provisions for returning the puppy is she is sick and/or if we are even unable for some reason keep her. read more

Very concerned about the welfare of a particular mother dog there. Extremely fearful of people and appeared not to be let out of kennel...ever. Crawled on her belly, wouldn't walk at all. Both Golden retriever mother and father were grossly under weight and it was painful to see. Not raised in a family atmosphere like the website leads one to believe. The puppies are extremely well socialized with not only people of all ages but all the other animals kept on the farm. This was to be my first puppy purchase, so I'm a novice at finding a breeder. I know enough to stay away from pet stores and was attempting to do just that. I found Winterhill on Facebook, probably my first mistake. Long story short, I had contacted Leah about her two 11 wk old goldens available. I did not know the questions to ask at the time. We were supposed to drive the 1.5 hr trip at the end of the week to meet the puppies and hopefully come home with one. Excited, I started reading up on golden puppies. Through that process, learned more questions to ask, and red flags to make you run away. I thankfully also googled Winterhill and found all these bad reviews. Her fb reviews are glowing, I now know why. She immediately blocks people from her page as soon as a hint of dissatisfaction crops up. She did it to me WHILE we were having a fb chat. This was the conversation. ----- Hi Leah, checking in and I have a few more questions. Is the sire/dam onsite? Are they akc registered? Can you provide me with their information? I did some research and I have to say that I have read some things that concern me. Like I said before, I am interested in a healthy pet, not a show dog. And I realize that online reviews are subjective and I don't always believe them. I just want to make an informed decision. I don't want to buy a puppy that was brokered from elsewhere and shipped to you. Also, Is there a reason that the two males are still available after almost 11 weeks? I'm asking because it seems that most breeders have wait lists and so I feel I have to ask.
