On Jan 24 2022 i was with my Poodle Conchita to Wintemere Pointe Vet as emergency visit. My dogy show a problem with the right back leg for that reason was the emergency. I don't be Veterinary but i understand some happen with my dog health, a lady with many tattoos (don't remember the name), take my dog and she talked to me about the process, i had wait 2 or 3 hours for the Vet. she sayed me (leave the dog) and they call me when ready to pick up. My dog is 8 years and 3 months, always good and healthy, never been sick. well, the lady called me to pick up my Conchita, when i was arrived the first she told me (i need to checkout first and after the Vet talk with you about your dog) (money first, oh my God). finally, she pass me a small room, few minutes the Vet come with my dog, he told me: Vet: We did see you as a same day sick pet drop off appointment. We did not receive any other previous medical records from you besides the vaccines certificate. During her visit, we did examined her and walked her a few times. Conchita's physical exam confirmed the limping, along with patellar luxation on both knees. Based on the physical exam findings and current symptoms, Conchita received pain management immediately with an injection and medication to achieve pain control at home. Me: Good Vet, thanks, what medicines do you prescribe for Conchita? Vet: Conchita received pain management immediately with an injection of Meloxicam 5mg/ml, and medication to achieve pain control at home. Such as Carprofen 25mg Tabs and Gabapentin 250mg/5ml oral solution. Me: I 100% was trusted on this Vet, and followed I went home with my Conchita, i was saw she a little better this night, but the next day a little lethargic, i called to the hospital to consult the Vet, but was never an answer. Conchita looked stable, but in pain, night came, Conchita began to vomit around 1 am, I took care of Conchita and checked her body, looking for something abnormal, breathing a little faster. At that time, I waited for dawn to take her to another Vet, but was already too late. Conchita pass away in my arms. Me: I made a Question to the Vet: Do you perform a Conchita blood test? Vet: Conchita was presented to us for limping. We did see you as a same day sick pet drop off appointment. We did not received any other previous medical records from you besides the vaccines certificate. Me: obviously, if you receive a new patient and he comes with symptoms of illness, the first thing you should have done was performed a blood test, to rule out any disease not visible, with a simple physical examination. Vet: Conchita was weight bearing and limping intermittently. She walked for us and even urinated fine during her visit. However, the radiology has limitations as far as assessing ligament or meniscus injury. The test of choice is an MRI or CT scan for this type of presentation. Nothing in the history noted by the staff at the time of the drop off or during my conversation with you suggested she had any other clinical signs that day. Me: THE WORD IS NEGLIGENCE: you, as a veterinarian, must performed a blood test before prescribing this strong's medication to my Conchita. all the medications you prescribed have side effects directly related to the internal health of pets, including (Gabapentin is not FDA approved for pets). Meloxicam, Gabapentin and Carprofen. The most common side effect of Meloxicam in dogs is decreased appetite and vomiting. Dogs can overdose on meloxicam, resulting in many different serious symptoms. Me: When you take your pets to the vet do not trust 100%, if possible, look for a second option. for now, i lose my Conchita, in keeping with my full pain. My mistake was no be more alert before. God bless all pets in the world.

The staff took the carrier and cleaned it up and lined it with puppy pads for the return trip home. How awesome is that!! We have recently adopted a kitten that was a rescue by one of the staff members. It's clear to us by the way things were handled that the entire staff here truly cares about taking care of our furry friends. They have helped us with our new fur babies and we really feel like they are always there for us during our transition and getting these critters good and healthy. Bless the entire staff here at Winter Garden Animal Hospital... and just know that your pet will be in very good hands.

During a visit for my 11-year-old dog, I was by Dr. MacDonald that my dog has liver cancer with multiple tumors, congestive heart failure and that euthanasia should be considered. No biopsy or referral to a specialist was offered and I was not shown or walked through the ultrasound results. I was told no follow-up appointments were needed and was given euthanasia pamphlets. I left completely devastated. After the visit, I called the clinic requesting my dog's records. Because the file is under another name, communication had to go through that person. When we received the records, they did not mention cancer or the ultrasound findings. We were initially told the ultrasound recordings were not available. I had to request the records again through email and specifically ask for the ultrasound findings. Eventually, we received notes referencing a "suspected" liver or splenic mass and stating that my dog was vomiting which was not true. The notes also mentioned seeing a specialist if interested but this was never discussed during the visit. I also had major difficulties with my dog's heart medication. I was told that refills typically take 24 to 48 hours and that heart medications are usually expedited. Since refills cannot be processed over the weekend, we had to wait until Monday to call. We emphasized that this was a heart-related medication, were told the request would be expedited and submitted the request on 12/22 around 8:15 a.m. It took two days and a call from the office /practice manager before we could pick up her medication on Christmas Eve. Because of the delay, we had to go to VEG to get my dog's medication and she was in distress. Since starting the treatment plan we had to request because we did not agree to euthanasia, my dog has been doing great. She is eating, drinking, playing and going to the bathroom normally. We were referred to an internal medicine specialist and a cardiologist by another vet for a second opinion. The internal medicine specialist confirmed that my dog does NOT have cancer and walked us through each ultrasound finding step by step. We also have an upcoming appointment with the cardiologist. Our experience highlighted serious concerns. The first suggestion was euthanasia rather than further investigation. No referrals or second opinions were offered. Communication around records and critical medication was slow and inconsistent. While the staff may have had good intentions, this experience has been distressing and costly. My dog is doing well thanks to proper follow-up care but I hope the clinic takes steps to prevent similar situations for other pet owners.

We had a wonderful experience with Chain of Lakes Animal Clinic. REVIEW (AS OF MAY 2026): This is a local run office, and the care and attention is clear with continued follow ups through texts and phone calls. We came to this practice after having a horrible experience at our last vet. Everyone was kind and understanding from our first visit and even more so when we brought our cat in for the last time. Exam rooms were clean, and they always had different treats to try to tempt my cat out of her carrier. Like most cats, she hated the vet, but they always tried to work around her moods. We saw a few different doctors through my kitty's time with the practice - all were fantastic and knowledgeable. They were open to discussing the pros and cons of treatment with us, as well as their honest opinion on what to do if they were in our shoes. Their technicians were stellar. Marianne and Ryan at the front desk were fantastic and very responsive. It's clear they all enjoyed caring for the animals. The last visit with my cat really stood out to me. They gave us the choices, including services hospice-like services to help with an ailing animal. There wasn't any pressure on which course to take. It ended up being my cat's choice as she crossed the rainbow bridge that night. They were there to help with the after services, and the tech helping us made the process a little easier. Thank you for all the care, attention, and love you showed my cat, one of the members of my family. Some Minor Details: - Yes, you have to pay a deposit for your first visit, but it makes sense with how flakey people can be. (The deposit was then applied to my first visit costs.) - The only quirk to the smaller practice is that their availability is limited but somehow always worked us in if there was an emergency.

I have never had a complaint about Dr. Close's veterinary care, but today's experience ended any possibility of my returning. Between Leroy's extensive treatment and the veterinary care paid for by his owner, Joe, and those who helped with his recovery, a substantial amount of money has been spent with this practice. That made today's interaction particularly disappointing. The irony is that earlier today, while waiting at Ocoee Animal Hospital, I posted a positive Facebook update about Leroy's progress and checked in at the hospital feeling happy. He had gained another two pounds, and I was genuinely pleased with how far he has come. I certainly did not walk in looking for a confrontation or with any existing complaint about the quality of his care. Ocoee Animal Hospital has a policy charging clients $50 if they are more than 15 minutes late. I have never been late for an appointment. Unfortunately, long waits for the doctor have been a recurring issue, and today I waited approximately one hour. What made the delay even harder to understand was that there were no cars in the parking lot while I was there. I understand that appearances do not always tell the whole story and that veterinary practices can get backed up for many reasons, but from a client's perspective, waiting an hour in what appeared to be a quiet practice was frustrating. When Dr. Close finally came in, I raised the issue calmly and, frankly, more diplomatically than I sometimes do. I simply pointed out that if the practice expects clients to respect its time enough to impose a $50 late fee, it seems reasonable for the practice to show the same respect for its clients' time. I explained that the recurring wait times were actually why Leroy's owner, Joe, could not bring him today. He could not afford to lose that much time waiting, so I volunteered to bring Leroy instead. I suggested that perhaps the practice was overbooking appointments. Rather than acknowledge the concern, apologize for the delay, or simply discuss it professionally, Dr. Close became defensive and told me not to come back. I was genuinely stunned by that response. I was not angry, confrontational, or questioning her medical ability. In fact, I was unusually measured in how I raised what I thought was a legitimate customer-service concern. My opinion of the practice changed only after that conversation. A veterinary practice is certainly entitled to expect clients to arrive on time. Clients are equally entitled to expect reasonable respect for their own time, especially when the practice imposes a financial penalty for being late. After the amount of time, trust, and money that has gone into Leroy's care there, being told not to return simply because I raised that concern was unnecessary, unprofessional, and deeply disappointing. I won't be returning, as requested.
