Recently we rescued a stray cat that had started sleeping on our front porch. Not wanting to make a huge investment in our new little buddy we decided to try out YGF. There are definitely pros and cons to the low cost vet approach as we soon found. Pros: really reasonable prices on basic procedures and vaccinations, friendly staff that genuinely care about animals and pretty good availability for appointments. They also have a semi separate room designated for feline patients which is decorated with creepy cat paraphernalia. Cons: Not very thorough with checkups, you have to be specific about what is/might be wrong with the animal, the waiting room is often full of big, noisy dogs which can be stressful for little dogs and cats. All things considered, this vet is a great find. Maybe not the best place for primary care but definitely great for cost efficient, last minute health concerns. read more

The veterinary care provided by Dr Pyle is top notch. I drive 25 minutes to go here and it's always worth it. She genuinely cares about your pets and takes the time to explain things fully. She is not just out for your money like many vets, and offers solutions that are over-the-counter, in addition to the much more expensive diagnostic and therapeutic testing. (And doesn't make you feel awful for turning down more expensive testing like other vets do!) The support staff is also awesome. I know my cats are in very good hands with Hailey, Dana, and Brenda. A tip- if you're going as a "walk in" it's best done near the end of business hours. So if they tell you to come at 3pm, ask if 5 or 6pm would work. You'll wait a much shorter time (30 minutes instead of 2 hours), since the vet is very much in demand. read more

Well, this place was recommended to me as a great low cost clinic, which it is. But from reading various pros and cons regarding this business from various sources besides Yelp, this company has it lovers and haters... I agree completely with Rosemary and Mike. Great care, but come in knowledgeable of what your animal needs. And watch what is done, they are known for giving full shot updates when only one shot is needed... Their costs are alot lower than local vets and lower than my regular vet back home. For me to have a dental cleaning on my dog, the cost here is $200. They explained to me what is done when they clean, and their explanation matched my regular vet at more than half the cost! My neighbour is getting his dog fixed for less than $100 by them. Their record keeping is mediocre at best. Don't be surprised if you have five separate records for one animal. I will say that they have a great groomer that I use. I am happy with what they have done with my dog so far... and I hope they keep the good service I have received so far... read more

I have heard some positives about this place, but the constant negative is that the tables where they put my pets are disgusting, and it needs an overhaul, or at least a good cleaning. I entirely concur with Rosy's review. YGF is an excellent service to the community. I honestly wish there were a few more places like this. I'd like to add that this place is not intended for use as a "primary care" veterinarian, but as a low cost clinic. However when you are in a pinch (and typically when your beloved pets are sick or injured it's not at a convenient time) this clinic can REALLY help you and your furry friends out. There is also a groomer on site. Trust me, it is NOT where you take your champion poodle "Prancy" for a checkup and a manicure. YGF is perfect if you need an animal fixed or made current on immunizations and doesn't have $100 extra cash on hand. Also, due to the volume of customers the staff doesn't seem to keep extensive records on file, so keep your receipts for future vet trips. read more

I visited You've Got a Friend today for my puppy's last shots and had a great experience. The office itself is not fancy, but the staff is very kind. We had a really bad experience with our old vet of almost 13 years over on the East side of Orlando and I vowed to never return. As we are relatively new to the Clermont/Groveland ares, I've been looking for a new low-cost vet closer to home. I didn't have an appointment for my pup's shots; however, we were called in in less than 15 minutes. I went around 9:45 and, while the waiting area was extremely busy, the wait time went fast. My pup received her bordetella, rabies, and nobivac shots, alone with a heart worm test and Trifexis for a month for $100. The only reason why I didn't give this vet five stars is the fact that I couldn't go back with my pup when she got her shots. I realize I am a crazy dog mom, and just a weird person in general to be honest, but as they were taking my pup to the back room, she looked back and started whimpering. So, there I am awkwardly sitting in a room full of people because I'm crying and I keep thinking that my pup thinks I'm abandoning her. The staff was very kind and raved over my little nugget's manners and that she was a trooper, even though she was scared. I'll definitely be back to You've Got a Friend. read more

I was out of town when my little Savannah decided to stop eating...I called from out of town and asked for an appointment for Saturday Jan 2nd... they squeezed me in.. Let me say from Brenda- who greeted me with a very warm and comforting greeting.. then Lisa came out and asked me questions to try and understand Savannah's symptoms.. Chris came and took my Savannah to see Dr Thompson... They were all wonderful and very professional.. They squeezed me in which I appreciated and saw my Little Savannah.. Chris was amazing taking good care of her and diagnosing her and giving me an antibiotic.. Amanda took good care of us... They were all very professional and extremely affordable... The clinic is older, but VERY CLEAN, the staff are knowledgeable, and friendly and the Dr. is very empathetic and eager to help. The only thing this place is good for is low cost shots. The front desk is always crazy and they never seem to know what is going on or where your records are. My dog had surgery with a biopsy and never got a call back about the results. I have called to get my sick dog in and was told I would get a call back and never got a call back. I won't be back there again. We have found a new amazing vet in town. read more

The Best! I have full confidence in their vets & their techs are so caring. I truly appreciate "not feeling like I've been taken advantage of", meaning.. my previous vet, every visit, no matter for what, I could not afford to pay for. I ended up putting it on a charge card. Made an appt. to get my cat de-clawed and neutered. I was told that I had to pay up front, which I totally get. We get to YGF and my immediate impression was a dirty hole in the wall. The building was not well maintained from the outside, and had a dirt parking lot. The inside wasn't much better. The walls were dirty, floors were dirty (ok I can see that from animals running around), the air filter in the ceiling looks like it hadn't been changed in a year, but it's obvious they don't spend much effort in keeping the place clean. Made me wonder how clean the surgical areas are??? We go to pick up my cat the next day, and all I can say is that their record keeping is horrible. They overcharged us $25 that we had already paid the day before (the receipt was taped to the BACK of the paperwork). They had to void the whole transaction, got confused, and then said we owe them $5. Now mind you they are charging $30 for meds that (according to their website) are included in the fee. So we think all is good and leave. Get my cat home and he smells like piss. I don't know where they kept him overnight but obviously didn't try to clean him up before sending him home. Gee thanks. They give us pain meds in syringes that says give once a day for 3 days. However they gave us 7 syringes. I'm confused.... So then they call us later that day and say there's a mistake, that we owe them the $30 for the pain meds that were supposed to have been included in the price. Ugh. (There's the record keeping thing again). Overall if you have an animal and don't have much money to get them fixed I'd rather you go here and get it done (rather than not fix them), but I'd say avoid going here. (Honestly if you don't have enough money to properly take care of a pet just don't get one!) At this place you get what you pay for. I'm sure the doc does good work (so far my cat is doing ok), but the lack of organization and cleanliness does not convince me to recommend them fully. read more

I apologize to Dr. Pyle and the attending staff for this late review. I only want to say that if I ever need assistance with any of my cats or future pets I will come back for YGF services at Mascotte. I was there for the first time in late August and in September. I brought them 4 outdoor female cats for spaying. Dr. Pyle took care of them. As they were all outdoor cats and new to travelling in carriers, the trip back home in stitches was heavy on my nerves when a couple of them were keen on breaking out of their carriers. I thought for sure they would tear their stitches out and would need emergency care. But thankfully and to a great set of stitch work, they all recovered well. All received their rabies shots and are still outside thriving in their natural environment (with other predators). I learned about YGF from a staff member of a beloved vet who took great care of my previous dogs for more than a decade. I visited another popular low-cost vet clinic in Lake County, but I found the environment too busy, its staff seemed a bit stressed and the parking space was tight. Dr. Kelly Pyle and her team are absolutely amazing. From regular shot visits to minor and major surgeries we've always received exceptional service. Recently we had to put our 10.5 year old dog to sleep and as much as we hated having to do so this office went above and beyond for us. They allowed us to wait in our car until it was time, they picked a room where we could come in and out without being near others waiting. They set up a blanket for our girl and Dr. Kelly even cried with us during the procedure. Please, please...whatever you do, do NOT take your animal here. He's what happened to me. I adopted a puppy from a local shelter and included in the adoption fee was neutering at this place. We dropped our puppy off at 8 a.m. And came back around 3 to pick up. Well, upon seeing him I knew that something wasn't right. His eyes were so watery and he had excessive drool coming from his mouth. They told us that they had given him a 24 hour pain shot. The whole car ride home he was whimpering. I thought it was just the movement of the car. By the time 5:45 rolled around we had a puppy in some very serious pain. He couldn't lay down, he could barely stand up and he was yelping so bad. I knew I had to get him some pain meds and quick. Because they didn't send us home with any. Like I said they said they gave him this mysterious pain shot that I have absolutely no record of in my paperwork that they gave me. So I got on the phone with Banfields, they said as long as I could get there before 6:30 they they could see him. We jumped in the car and flew. They could only give him certain meds because there was no record of what pain meds he was given. They prescribed 3 days of pain meds and something to help the swelling that he had. Why couldn't YGF give us this much?? It really makes me question what kind of place this is. They didn't even send him home with a collar to keep him from licking. We got that later. Just please do your pet a favor and take them to a real vet. read more

I just want everyone to know what a great job YGF clinic does! My husband and I have been bringing our Boston babies here since we moved to Groveland in 2013. There is nowhere that has a more caring staff! Today I requested one of our boys to be seen as a walk in with the full expectation to be at the clinic at least several hours. Because of the clinic's efficiency we were out of there in about an hour. I love Dr. Pyle, she is so great at her job. Knowledgeable, personable, approachable ...she is everything that makes an anxious fur baby mom comfortable. And the education that they do is amazing, today the vet tech Sara went out of her way to be sure I understood just what needed to be done and even took extra time to write down recommendations for supplements that might be beneficial. Front desk staff is impatient and rude. A dog was barking in the lobby and one of the front desk ladies was actually complaining about how annoying it was to her coworkers and OTHER customers, rolling her eyes and all.
