I found AK Cell repair open- working in a cold office - after only recently getting power back to there shop as much of the valley is still without electrical power. I walked in with a dead phone- and out with one that was alive and functioning. They offer practical, price conscious solutions and options other then "you need a new phone" which is often the big box store solution. Prior to going over there in the windstorm I called to see if they would even be open at a time when many businesses are closed due to the weather. Their reply, "We will be here, as long as the power stays on." With out reservation I reccomend them to care for your phone which may have sustained trauma and may be on lifesupport at a time when you don't need an expensive new phone to pay for becuase your are trying to figure out how to pay for the repair to your roof that is flying down the street, or how to pay to get your pipes thawed out. I called the number on the GCI website (long wait) and spoke to someone who checked my address and told me the modem would work at my place. I immediately go into the store, wait 15 minutes to speak to someone, and get my modem. I paid $74.99 upfront and was assured I could get the internet up and running that same day. I go home, plug it in, nothing happens. I call the GCI customer service number (long wait again) and they assure me GCI will work at my address, I just have to wait for a service technician to come and set it up. No one was available that day. At this point, I'm getting anxious. I use the internet for work and every day without it is a day I miss getting paid. Someone finally comes in the next day at around 10:30 AM and tells me no way GCI would work at my home. Confusing since I'd been assured by three different people that it would work. I immediately go to return the router. Refund has to take 5-7 days to process. Poor service. Company run by idiots.
