It's my turn to sing his praises. First, his office staff are personable, friendly, and professional. They follow through when they tell you something will get done, and their communication skills are top notch. Dr. McNeil and his assistant are true professionals, have a very calming bedside manner and work well together. Before getting any work done he gave me a thorough evaluation, including x-rays. But they are so so so good. They are calm and relaxing and put you at ease. They also don't seem to push things you don't immediately need. He called and I said I had a tooth to be crowned. We set the appt. He *never* said he'd clean my teeth first. Worst cleaning I've ever had. Came out covered with rinsing fluid on my face. The cleaning was not thorough! Not an ultrasound cleaning at all. He was leaving the building and I called him back because I wanted that molar attended to. So he did that work up. Should have let him go on and do the crown elsewhere. When I came back for the setting and refinement work, he did NOT have any patience for my feedback. He took all the points off the crown. It is now rather flat. He said what I was feeling after the grinding was the teeth in front and back of the crown and that is correct. No longer do I have any grinding points on the tooth. Also, the other work he'd numbed me for he chose to postpone, he was so angry. So much money wasted!! Found out later that a friend had the same experience with him. All her crowns are flattened, too. There are other significant errors I experienced that day which are truly strange - forgot he'd turned down the RPM on the drill (assistant didn't remember, I spoke up), and somehow he got the inside of my upper lip caught in the turning part of the drill! A blood blister was created. Never ever have I had that experience with a dentist! Unprofessional? For me, yes. Also, do NOT question his procedures - he reminds you in an offended tone of voice that he's been a dentist for 40 years. Oh - he also likes to gossip about prior clients and other dentists. Yikes! The 1-star rating is for the very rude, unprofessional, very "catty" like attitude that Elysa the front receptionist gave me over the phone (3 separate times about different occasions over a few months total) and the face to face communication and interactions I had with her in the office, as well. I do not take my time to write 1-star reviews ever so this really upset me as I come from a customer service background myself and know the power that attitude, friendliness, kindness and appreciation really means to people when it comes to service. She does not seem happy to be working and does not seem to care about customer service kindness and friendly attitude. She honestly doesn't seem to care at all. Not sure how she is allowed to talk to people like that but even while sitting in the office lobby and listening to how she speaks to other people over the phone and checking them in in-person, she has this attitude towards everyone. She is the reason I chose to take my insurance elsewhere to find a dentist where I feel appreciated and spoken to kindly by all the staff.
