Every staff member I met was friendly, kind, and full of good energy--especially comforting during the surgery when I felt some apprehension. The follow-up visit was just as thoughtful and easy. On top of that, the procedure was more affordable than quotes I'd received on the mainland, and they didn't tack on any crazy emergency fees. The anchor tooth, was bad and should have not been used, and filled or pulled before hand. The whole bridge and a new front tooth crown had to be redone within 2 months. They redid it and had to use the new.,crowned tooth as the anchor tooth. Then they told me insurance would not pay for it. However, the insurance company said they did, and gave me the billing info. They said the bridge was not done correctly. Then their billing office charged me for a whole new bridge, front teeth, and would not talk to the insuran,e company, or give them their dental notes. I had to file a comp!ain't with the state and that's hard. Dr.Hello would not correct it and just said she does t do the billing. the same time she did a partial that another dentist looked at and said it was terrible partial. The insurance doesn't pay for things twice Hawaii Family Dental keeps trying g to make MT pay for the bridge at$3100. The amount kept changing, and the partial was paid for at $900. Only they can redo it. The billing office said the insurance co. doesn't pay for porcelin bridges, but they do,and it's in their coverage I was sent. Now Hawaii Family Dental will not get back to an advocate or send them their billing details. Now one of the teeth under the porcelin bridge has decayed under and through the bridge acter only 14 months. Another dentist said it was not sealed correctly and go back to them, but Dr. Mello won't guarantee her work. This is serious since I need hip surgery and I need a dental c!earance for surgery and can't get one because of the infection under the bridge. I am worried about my hea!th and life, as dental work can affect the rest of the body. Don't go to this corp. dentist. I've been on Maui for 26 years, and now I have to fight this some how. I looked at the state website and they have 7 complaints in 3 years. ​

Yo! My crown came off while eating on the plane to Maui. Super stressful! It wasn't painful but it…read moremade eating uncomfortable and didn't seem like a good idea for my vacation. I had Wi-Fi so I searched up emergency dentist" in Kahului even though I was going to West Maui. This place looked good and super close to the airport. While I was still on my flight, they told me they could squeeze me in when I landed. Meanwhile I texted them my insurance card and they gave me an appointment and said if I was late I could go between patients. When I got there, I only had to wait a few minutes before I was taken back to see Dr. Lena! She was so nice as was her dental assistant and the receptionists. She saw that in fact it was not only my crown that came off... but also part of my tooth! So she told me to make sure to see my dentist at home when I get home, and she took a picture to send him. Within a few minutes, she had cleaned off my crown and then she carefully and skillfully put it back on and cemented it. And they take Delta Dental! I paid $120 on top of what insurance covered, but it was totally worth it. The errand to come here from the airport only took about 30 minutes, and then I could start vacation. This is an incredibly thorough and responsive office. I'm so glad I found them on Yelp and they could set me up while I was still on the plane. Dr. Lena is super nice also and makes a patient feel at ease. Highly recommended, even if you're not going to start your vacation this way lol!

My teeth are very important to me, so when I had a toothache on a problem tooth that already had a porcelain cap- a molar that had three damaged roots, a crack, some calcification, and a possible infection, I went searching. I discovered, as with doctors, that not all dentists are there to help you; some are there to make money by heading directly to the processes and expensive procedures that are going to line their pockets, but may not be what is best for you.
