Travelers beware. They will absolute screw you in charges. First off, they make you pay a NON REFUNDABLE $495 deposit!!! This is so they can take your $495 either way when they tell you a 10 min service is going to be THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. Seriously such a scam. It's robbery really. And the fact they don't accept dental insurance? JOKE. DO NOT GO HERE unless you are dying of pain. You will be broke by the time you're done. Wait till you fly home and get it taken care of by your normal dentist. Unless you want to be out at thousands of dollars. Btw the fees are not listed on the website. And regardless of appt time, $3600 to cement back on a veneer, which again wasn't even done correctly is absolute robbery. Even with emergency fees, $3600 to cement back on a veneer is insane!!! So patients beware, if a simple task such as cementing on a veneer costs $3600, imagine what other procedures will cost. The veneer was cemented on crooked to the point the retainer wouldn't fit and my regular dentist had to redo it. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! read more

THIS COMPANY VIOLATED THE "COMPENSATED ACTIVITY" RULE FOR YELP REVIEWS : "Don't offer freebies, discounts, or payment in exchange for reviews--it will turn off savvy consumers and may also be illegal. For the same reason, you can't offer incentives for users to remove reviews. Yelp has a Consumer Alerts program that publishes a pop-up alert on business pages to let people know when we learn about this sort of activity." After I posted an extremely negative review last year, similar to another negative review that remains posted (6/4/2023), about being charged potentially approximately $4,000, with no warning, for an emergency visit on 8/31/2023 that consisted of taking 3 x-rays and filing down a chipped tooth, I was offered a PARTIAL refund of the $1687 I finally paid, in exchange for removing the negative review. When I didn't remove it immediately (I added the information about the refund), I was threatened with legal action until I deleted it completely (it was their action that was illegal!). After almost a year, I'm assuming they can no longer threaten me, and want to warn other unsuspecting people about these criminals. DO NOT USE THIS CLINIC - there are other emergency dentists on Maui. I hope Yelp follows up on their promise and publishes that alert on their page. read more

Dr Lewis is amazing! My wife and I had just landed in Maui for our vacation only for my wife's recently crowned tooth to cause her acute pain. After a sleepless night, we had to find a dentist (on a Sunday no less!) and after contacting Maui Dental Group, Dr Lewis and her nurse were able to meet us at 8am at the office and instantly put my wife and i at ease. After a quick consultation and x-ray, Dr Lewis diagnosed the issue and realized my wife's tooth was infected under the crown. She expertly managed to drill through the tough crown, flushed it out and neutralized the issue. We're now able to enjoy the last of our few days on Maui pain free until a possible root canal when we get home. We can't thank Dr Lewis enough for her professional and friendly help. They were upfront about all the charges which was great because we don't have dental insurance. We felt like it was affordable, especially for the quality of care. Their office staff is great too. Today was my first appointment. It was an evaluation and cleaning. These people are polite, professional and courteous without being stuffy. Dr. Vargas a young Dentist is efficient and knows her stuff beyond her years. Her employees are at ease and the office works as a very cohesive operation. I have additional appointments to follow so will keep you informed. 9/1/2016 I have now had several visits and this is quality Dentistry at a fair price. I had several teeth with large fillings that were leaking or broke and needed crowns. The Temporary teeth were like real teeth. The Crowns fit like a glove and were seated with gentle professionalism. I had two crowns side by side that had to be fitted leaving enough room to floss. This is so difficult to do and they idid it with perfection. I recommend Dr. Vargas and her staff no issues what so ever. read more

I thought my vacation was going to take a turn for the worse when a wave knocked out my crown and root canal (front tooth). Thank goodness I found Maui Dental Group! Maui Dental Group was the first place I called and am SO glad I did! I spoke to the receptionist, Andrea and she helped me right away. She was caring and extremely helpful. I was booked for an appt right away and they saw me an hour after the incident. Andrea also emailed me paperwork to fill out prior to seeing the dentist so they can get started on me right away. Best Dental Office EVER! I called many different dentist offices before choosing this one and I am so glad that I did. Not only did they have the lowest self-pay rates in Kihei for a basic exam and cleaning, they also were the friendliest group. They were fast but efficient. They were friendly and sincere. They didn't make me get new x-rays because my old dentist from the mainland was able to send some to them. They had mobiles on the ceiling for me to watch while they worked on examining and cleaning my teeth. Dr. Gupta, in fact, runs the best hospital dentistry practice that I know of. Its all that she does, so I know I can depend on her office. Dr. Gupta is extremely friendly and professional. You really get the sense that she care's about you and your child's teeth! I have been taking my son to Dr. Gupta for years because he has to be treated while he is sleeping. I have been extremely satisfied with every procedure that He has had over the years. . She doesn't recommend procedures unless they're needed, and when she performs procedures, she checks in with you all of the time to make sure you agree and understand. she explains everything in detail and answers every question thoroughly. All her work has been great and I have many friends with children on island who have seen her and would definitely agree. What a wonderful experience, I highly recommend this dental practice. I've seen various dentists in places I've lived over the last fifty-some years back on the mainland and I have to say Dr. Vargas and the whole team at Maui Dental Group are the best I've experienced. The care is exceptional and everyone is really nice and friendly. They have all the latest technology and equipment and their techniques and skills are top-rate. They have an ultrasonic tooth scaler for cleaning which is comfortable and effective, a digital x-ray machine so images are available right away, and compact, modern tools and instruments. And no annoying overhead spotlight shining in your face like you're being interrogated by the FBI! Just a subtle, effective, cool little LED headlamp worn by Dr. Vargas. There is actually a butterfly mobile hanging overhead when the spotlight would be! I went in for a cleaning and exam and both were very thorough. My teeth looked great! Better than any cleaning I can remember in a long time. The x-rays revealed two cavities that had formed underneath fillings I had had for a long time (bacteria can actually work their way under old-school silver filings after a few decades). Appointments were scheduled for the repairs, and in each Dr. Vargas and her team delivered compassionate, gentle care with no pain or discomfort. They used a special gel so I didn't even feel the Novocaine shot. Once that had taken effect, Dr. Vargas removed the old silver filling, removed the decayed portion of the tooth, and put in new ceramic filling. My first. Wow, it looked great! No more grey splotch on my tooth! She took great care to match the new filling to my bite, grinding a bit off, checking, taking a little more, and checking again, until it was perfect. Dr. Vargas mentioned that my tooth may be sensitive to cold for a while due to the procedure, especially since the cavity was pretty deep. So I was a little nervous waiting for the Novocaine to wear off. When it did, I thought I would just go for it and see what happened, so I ordered a hot sandwich and an ice-cold drink. I was thrilled to find there was no sensitivity whatsoever. The tooth felt just like it had when I arrived at their office that morning. And it's been that way ever since. All-in-all, a great experience. First-rate, professional care delivered by competent, friendly, caring staff, using state-of-the-art equipment and techniques, all with no pain or discomfort. Dr. Gupta is just a very happy person and easy to get along with. I found that she is also extremely informed. She's definitely wonderful with kids. If my family, friends and I could use her on a full time basis, I know we all definitely would. She is very aware of a person's concerns, fears, how to handle you as a person and not just their dental problems. For example, I am very fearful of needles and she knew exactly how to handle my fears of needles which is very intense, much more intense than the average person. She just kept calm, which kept me calm and relaxed. She knows how to use the correct words not to escalate the situation, which is something that a lot of doctor's don't know how to do. Everyone I interacted with at Maui Dental Group was wonderful; kind and caring, which helped more than I can say, as I was very distressed about a chunk of my back molar falling out randomly and the subsequent pain I was in (was worried about an infection spreading to my brain!). Monica, the receptionist, immediately got me booked to see Dr. Gupta, probably during her lunch break at noon. She patiently listened to all my concerns and kindly assured me that the doctor would be happy to see me. Dr. Gupta herself is angel. One of the reasons she got into dentistry was to serve on medical missions throughout the world, like in Africa and Southeast Asia, and even right here in very disadvantaged communities in the US. That experience has probably helped her to become even more kind and patient than I'm sure she already was, which was incredibly helpful, to sforay the least, for someone like me! Her breadth of knowledge on tooth (and health in general) care far surpasses that of most conventional dentists currently practicing, again, something crucial for me.
