I live in Westwood (NorCal not SoCal) and I had been struggling with Frontier services for years. Wanted to give Wisprenn a try. I've wanted to work from home for quite some time and got into video editing. Frontier upload and download speeds were so slow, I'd have to wait at least a whole day to download videos clients sent, and upload videos I edit for them. Wisprenn services proved to be stable when doing other tasks such as gaming, watching streams, etc. However, when uploading and downloading files the internet crashes often making my work impossible. Online and over the phone they sounded like they'd be better than Frontier, not extremely better, but better non the less. But, as I already said, at least with frontier and having to wait a whole day I'd be able to upload and download video files. Wisprenn let me down. Felt like I was finally going to catch a break, and do my work more efficiently, but instead I'm left having to tell clients I can't do any work for them because the connection is so unstable. If you're in the Westwood area I don't recommend either Frontier or Wisprenn. Please find something else because these two are garbage. read more

UPDATE - I worked VERY hard to get another provider for us out here in Lucerne Valley and thankfully they finally came! I left Wisprenn early 2020 and it was the best thing I've ever done! I appreciate them being a small startup and trying to create something, but they just couldn't do it. The frustration with them was immeasurable! New internet is now a RELIABLE 25 mbps, and goes out rarely. When it does its only for a few minutes. Even better, it costs less than Wisprenn and is backed by a bigger, well known provider! To those people who keep saying Wisprenn USED to be great. Guys I am one of their first customers. I've been with them longer than probably everyone here. They were NEVER great! lol. It has been the same frustrating mess for almost a decade. SLOW speeds all day, numerous outages, numerous trips to the house to switch me from one tower to the other. It did not matter what they did, the service sucked! They were nice people at least. God help any of you who are still stuck with them ... I KNOW your pain. read more

Worst internet provider I've ever had. We would not have them if we had any other option in oak hills. I cannot stream Netflix without buffering. I can't have my phone connected to wifi without making streaming even worse. The internet completely goes out at least twice a day. It's incredibly frustrating and upsetting because this is 2018 and our internet is equivalent to 1999. Do not give them your business. We will discontinue service the second a better option is available. Extremely disappointed and beyond frustrated. read more

If your in the hwy 18 and milpasarea there is now frontier internet available. Just letting people know we don't have to be tortured by this company that has horrible service and customer service. Oak Hills Area , so far so good ! I honestly am thankful I finally found a internet service that is actually better then others out here. I have not had a problem at all ! We finally can use our Smart TV's like we should . The customer service was awesome got someone to install us the next day ! There is a installation fee $145 Residential $60 Business $99 You can always upgrade , Month to Month , Unlimited! NO CONTRACT ! How amazing is that . read more

Seems their reliability is swirling down the drain. Outages are now routine. It seems to be a standard reply "the issue is outside our system, with our internet provider". Who cares! Very slow Internet speeds at my home. Speed checks on my ipad and laptop routinely return less then 1 Mbps while doing nothing at all other then the speed check online. The upload speed seems to be close to advertised. So while it may be up to 8 Mbps advertised on their website, I have yet to see anywhere near those download speeds since installation with fast times being about 3-6 Mbps. For me, my download service speeds get even slower during prime time from about 4 PM until 10 PM at night where the connection essentially becomes unusable to even download simple things like emails in under 5 minutes (just one text email with no attachments or media content mind you). The unlimited download was a selling point at installation but means nothing when the internet speeds are sub dial up speeds often times. I am very disappointed with my internet service. I have Verizon unlimited download now on my devices and am seriously considering dumping my service with Wisprenn at this point since it is only usable internet during late night/early morning hours for media content downloads like software updates and streaming videos from Netflix or Amazon Prime. Update: I finally did dump Wisprenn service and went to verizon Hotspots which only give you about 25 gb of download so not true unlimited before being throttled and quite costly. My fiancé uses T-Mobile but the coverage is spotty for a 4G hotspot setup compared to Verizon but they five you 50 GB of download data at 4G hotspot speeds. My final solution was to go with Viasat Satellite Internet. Their speeds are returning 20-30 Mbps download. I pay a pretty penny of $150/month for sat internet but it is worth it for me since Frontier and Wisprenn were useless at my location with severely throttled speeds for whatever their reasons. I can't wait for microsats to get launched to space for sat internet provider competition to reduce the price for future satellite internet but it is as good as I can find for now. read more

Okay this is a long time coming. So I've had this service over a year! They have never been able to provide any kind of constant service. They have put the dish on my new roof, I told the technician not too but he removed a clay roof tile to do so and hid it in the bushes. I since have been calling for better service. They sent out a technician he moved the dish to the west facing tower. Well that gave them the opportunity to tell me I'm blocked by a mountain and need to go buy a pole to put the dish on. I have never in my life been asked by a provider to go get my own equipment to run their services! Today I was called to be informed that I will not get a credit at all for over a year of shit service! So my advice to anyone considering this company! Don't do it! You will spend more time on the phone and not getting any signal. Despite you unplugging and rebooting your boxes nothing works unless you call them. Then maybe you'll get an hour of decent service... However it won't last. Never does! So if you like paying for no service this is your company! read more

When I first signed up for this service, I had about a year of great connectivity with rare interruptions. They must have switched their upstream provider (to Spectrum, I'm guessing) because now my internet goes out at least several times a month, sometimes for an entire day. Once they said an outage was due to construction near the upstream provider, but it was after eight on New Year's Eve, so I'm not buy it. I'm losing valuable work time because of these service gaps. I can't do my job on a mobile phone. We never get a credit on our bill for these long outages either. I'm going to have to find another provider if this keeps up. Avoid. read more

Wisprenn, are you paying attention? I think I speak for the vast majority of your customers when I say we are beyond frustrated. Service was ok some time ago but has become a joke. My family relies on it for business, school, etc., but it routinely cuts out on us at crucial moments--sometimes gone for hours. Forget watching Hulu, etc. We are in the process of evaluating our other options, as I resent having to pay one more hard-earned penny for this sorry service. read more

We have had WiFi thru them for a while now and it's absolutely horrible. Can't even stream Netflix or any other app without it constantly buffering. Sometimes I can't even open an app. Everytime we call they send someone out to try and "fix" the issue and it only lasts one day if that. Do not recommend this company at all. UPDATE: 04/02/2020 Extremely poor customer service. ...again. I have been paying for my service with auto-pay through my debit card. A few days before the C-19 (COVID-19) self-isolation order, there was an unauthorized charge (unrelated to Wisprenn) on that card. My bank cancelled that card and issued a new one. However, because of the C-19 order, a lot of things at my bank (like a lot of other organizations, including mine) almost grinded to a halt. With reduced services, I have yet to receive my card. I also have a credit card where my payment is past due, however since my payment record is spotless, they were more than happy to give me a lengthy penalty free extension until I get the new debit card. Wisprenn would only give a 5-day extension of service, of which 4 are only left, then they will suspend service. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told that person would not be in until the afternoon. Apparently Wisprenn does not have a supervisor available during the most critical time periods in the midst of a world-wide crises. With RACE rapidly expanding in the area, improving their service and offering competitive prices, you would think that Wisprenn would be concerned about keeping their customers. UPDATE 04/03/2020: Curtis from Wisprenn did call me back in the afternoon, however I was on a very long video meeting and was unable to take it. He did leave a message indicating he was available until 10pm. I received my replacement debit card from Chase w/in less than 24 hrs. and paid my bill. Awesome customer service by Chase!! read more

I have had this service for 6 months now.I have called in several times just to have to lady tell me I don't know what I am talking about..I could not open email or get on line..when the teck came out right away he saw the little dish was not right,but because I was so close to the tower I was getting a signal..even though he corrected the problem I can't use my wifi on my cell to make a call..when I asked about that the lady told me she never herd of wifi calling before..I came from a smaller town than Lucerne Valley and had better rural internet service..Frontier is putting over 2 million dollars into Lucerne Valley I can't wait..And then they don't tell you not to buy a Belkin router because its not compatible with there system.. only did I find this out after spending $100. Buy a Netgear if your going with this company...Be ware Horrible Internet!!!! read more

Sure from time to time they are upgrading equipment. It took a few years but they even have a backup line when the main line goes out. The alternative at the moment is Frontier plus fighting for 1.50 mbps and talking to their tech support out of the country telling them you pay for 6 mbps. I'm done with the days spending hours every month on the phone with Frontier. Fortunately the leg of Wispreen's network I'm on is not super crowded. At the exact time of this review I am getting about 4mbps down and 1.45mbps up. It's decent enough to still stream. When kids are in school it's as high as 11.5mbps down and 1mbps up. Some of the more crowded areas of their network in Oak Hills can get a little gnarly at night and when kids are out of school so I do understand the frustration. Typically if you contact Wispreen they will work to get it corrected. For the area I live I give them an A+ and I am grateful Wispreen for the 3+ years of great service! Thank you! read more

I signed up with Wisprenn the first year they were in business. I live in the far east end of apple valley with no cable or land line internet available. I was on satellite, but dumped them due to the high cost and high latency and went to Wisprenn. At first, my speeds were decent and I was very happy with them. After about three years, my speeds took a huge hit. I could barely get 150 kbps at times, which was slower than my old phone internet service. I hung in there for a while hoping they could resolve the issue, but they never could get my speeds up to a consistent level, but it was usually less than 1.0 mbps. I finally cancelled them and went with an LTE wireless plan. At first I was with a company called 4GAS internet, which has recently changed their name to Infinity Internet. They were fantastic at first. I was getting 30 to 40 mbps download speeds, then after about a year with them, their speeds began to slow considerably. I put up with it for a few months and after my 3rd or 4th complaint they canceled my account without me asking them to do that. So I searched for another fixed wireless provider (there are a lot of them out there) and am now with a company called UbiFi. They have been decent so far, good download speed usually between 10 mbps and 20 mbps, but I lose connection frequently. These fixed wireless providers utilize unused bandwidth from cell phone companies so your speeds vary depending on the amount of people using their cell phones at a particular time. If you have a cell tower located close to your home, you get better results. There are three towers within 2 miles of my home, so get decent speeds. The all utilize the 4G bands, they will send you a modem with an LTE slot to plug in their micro card which enables you to communicate with the towers and connect to the internet. It's a good option if you don't have cable and you don't want the high cost of satellite. If you are a gamer, the low latency is a big plus. Like I said there are many companies out there that have bought unused space from cell phone companies and sell it as internet service and at a reasonable price, usually at around $90 per month, with no long term contracts. Use cellmapper to locate the cell towers in your area and if you are near a tower, check into using fixed wireless LTE service. read more
