Fun store for surfers. Boarders and the rest of beach goers .... Daughter in law bought a new pair of reefs.... Plenty of sandals to choose from.... The staff is helpful and friendly... Witt has been a friend of my family for decades now. We all grew up knowing, "you go to Witts", Now....every time I see my kiddo on his Carver, or throwing his pipeline hoodie onI get to enjoy childhood memories all over again..hopefully for generations to come. Witt and his wife are absolutely amazing people. I've been shopping here for 30 years and every interaction has been great. Today I needed a new wetsuit in a difficult to find size and was fortunate Witt had worked with the manufacturer to stock just what I was looking for. Witt personally verified the fit and ensured I knew how to take care of this new high performance suit. This is why this shop has been in business for over 40 years. I love this place I called to see about getting my board fixed and they don't do it here but gave me a reputable guy to call and I went right away and Mark is fixing my board as we speak and for only 60 bucks!! It was freezing. I needed a hoodie so I sadly got one here, a hoodie that targets me as a tourist. I kept saying in a fake eastern European accent: "Look at me. I am to be riding American surfing board yes?" to help alleviate the shame. Anyway, when we were rung up, the guy clearly asked for $43, which I questioned because it was supposed to be 20% off of $38. Nope, no mistake. Hmm. Is tax more than ten percent? Nope. Hmm. But 20% off of 38 is 32... it can't be...more than $40 with tax. Finally, the manager comes by and in an attempt to show me that I'm wrong, gets the calculator and confirms that the correct price $38 or so, and the kid says "Yeah, that's what I said." I was upset to see him lie, so in frustration, I asked my wife if we should buy somewhere else, to which the manager replied, "Do what you got to do." So, in that spirit, this yelp review is me doing what I got to do. I'd also like to point out that almost ALL of their five star reviews are from Yelp profiles with 0-1 friends, a suspicious coincidence that, in my opinion, stinks of disingenuous solicited reviews. Anyway, I would've returned it if I was given a receipt, which I wasn't. read more

This is hands-down the best surf shop With a fantastic honor and great employees that give great customer service and attention. We have been using the shop for a handful of generations now and very pleased. Don't forget to stop by and grab a sticker T-shirt and a pull over hoodie as well as any wetsuit surfboard Street wear skateboards and anything else you need for shopping or even gifts with gift cards. Great surf shop and very helpful sales associates. I was able to trade in my wetsuit that I bought online and didn't fit. I had tried a few surf shops in the OC area and nobody would take trade-ins so I'm glad I found this place. Picked up a nice Xcel 3/2 chest zip wetsuit along with a free tide calendar. This place has been in business for quite some time. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. This is not a Mega Surf Shop, but a great small shop to get what you need to get wet. In the 80's and 90's this place was a vital part of my childhood, and every time I come back to visit my hometown, I always make sure to support local businesses like Witt's. I bought my first McGill deck here in 1987 and my first BZ bodyboard and Victory wetsuit in 1988, and have been coming back ever since. Also, seriously one of the friendliest and most knowledgeable surf shops you're ever going to encounter. Anyone that says otherwise here is a kook. read more

We popped by a bunch of surf shops in the area and Witt's was by far our favorite. The owner was super helpful, kind, and friendly. We got a good deal on a blanket and had a really nice conversation with him and the woman working the counter. If you're in the area and looking for beach supplies, this is the place to go. read more

Best service in town. Called to see if they had a wetsuit top for my *ahem* nutso 12yo.. phone was wacky & we lost connection.. but they called me back! (Who has that kind of customer service nowadays?!) I got anxious and wanted to score beach parking so I sent nutso & his sane twin in while I stalked parking. We showed up at Witt's with no idea what we needed & wanted for our 7 year old, but were hoping to get a skateboard in time for her lesson that morning! They were super helpful, took purple trucks off another board for us AND had the perfect board all decked out in well under an hour -- and even called when it was ready 10 min earlier than expected. Haven't seen a better run store in a long while. Witt continues to help out the locals with great stuff and the tourists with the much needed essentials of a beach day. He only carries the best stuff that's out there and that is all you need to know. This place holds a big place in my heart. Just got my surf board from these guys, they're not pushy at all. I walked in and asked for the dimensions I was looking for and was helped right away. Service and advice was great for a beginner surfer like me, the guys even showed me how wax my surfboard when I found the one I wanted. Totally worth it. I've stopped at this store every time I've been in the San Diego area. Have to give 2 stars this time though. My fiance and her daughter (who are black, which I hope had nothing to do with this) were looking at sunglasses, and, ended up buying a pair. But, one of the employees was watching them like a hawk. Standing like 7 feet away just staring at them for the 5 minutes they tried on glasses. Didn't say a word. He could have said, "could I help you find something". Nope, said nothing; just watched intensely. I've been in here many times; first time back around 2007. I never felt watched, or, uncomfortable in here; until this visit. Named after his father's plumbing business, Witt's Carlsbad Pipelines has been a cornerstone for the surf and skate community here in North County San Diego. Witt has been privileged enough to work with and sponsor local athletes like Tony Hawk and Taylor Knox as well as many others.

Started Carlsbad Pipelines on Street Fair weekend in May 1984. We've been in business now over 39 years, one block from the beach, helping locals and tourists alike. We offer surf gear, skate gear, and everything else in between. Our alumni include Tony Hawk, Taylor Knox, Matt Hensley, Ray Underhill, Chris Miller, Adrian Demain, and of course locals like the Barr family, Chuy Reyna, and to many other to list. Costumer service has always been our strong point whether it be product information, local knowledge, or just a friendly greeting.

Had a few friends come visit Carlsbad for the surfing a couple of weeks ago. Unbeknownst to me, they brought friends of their own...No matter! upon recieving my guests, we took a stroll through downtown carlsbad and stopped at Carlsbad Pipelines where my guest's guests rented surfboards of their own. The employees were very helpful in helping my friends find the right size board for their experience levels and even gave us information on some of the best spots in Carlsbad for beginners. As long as I am recieving guests this summer, Carlsbad Pipelines will be my go to. read more

This guy runs a great shop, the people here are always so friendly and helpful. My daughter just picked up a board there today. A 9'0 longboard shaped by a local favorite. The price was killer and the board looks sharp. i'm sure she will have lots of years enjoyment on it. Also we always buy are wetsuits there, cool selection of skate boards as well.. read more

This is the go to beach shop in North San Diego County, CA. If you need the essentials from beach supplies, skate gear, surfing accessories and they also have beach rentals this is the place to go! The shop has been there for 29 years, great staff, friendly and knowledgeable. A plus is that they are a block from the beach! read more

Rich?) was incredibly helpful explaining the differences in sandals, how to fit them, and with helping us figure out which were best for my kid. He let him try on all the pairs, talked to him about which were better for his needs and how they should fit. He didn't have to do any of this, but did! Challenge was they were sold out of my son's size. This man coulda tried to talk him into something else (wherein we would have left temporarily happy but ultimately displeased), but he did not. He sent us down the way to another local shop in the hopes they'd have what we needed (they also did not). We returned and he made sure to give my son the model info so we could buy the right ones on our own and was super helpful and pleasant about all of it. Sure, I would have preferred to buy them directly at the store, but it wasn't to be and unlike some big box or online place, he gave wonderful human service like only a small shop can. 100% recommend coming here for some shopping. They have a good wetsuit selection, body boards and surf boards for sale, wax, Vans, swimsuits, sandals, clothing and more. The inventory is great and the staff is a bonus. Thanks again, Asylum!

Prices of course as quite inflated since it's so close to the Strand. If you need essentials stay inland for your sunblock and whatever. I love the Oceanside Low Life gear. It is homage to the locals and the surfing culture. Typically representing Oside with this hat more often than not. Worth supporting the real locals!! Check it out.
