    Sigh

I had bad experience with take out from here recently. However, it was the end of the night and was to go so I wanted to give them another chance. They have a nice variety on their lunch menu, both traditional Chinese restaurant meals and sushi options. I had the duck special and was sorely disappointed. The duck was crispy but cold. The sauce tasted burnt. All in all, it was off putting. I added on the Cali-roll for $1 to try it. But when gas station Cali-rolls beat yours, you make me glad that I didn't pay for the real sushi items. I wanted to find a solid Chinese option in the area, but this isn't it.

Food was nasty , tasted old drove 30 minutes away to try this place and was sadly disappointed , chicken was decent but my chow mein and ragoons I was sadly disappointed spent 37$ and gas on a waist of food , when called they said to bring it back so they could look at , it keep in mind I live 30 minutes away and didn't get my first bite until I got back on the highway heading back home , I have 2 full time jobs so turning around just wasn't an option , just lost a potential valued customer will not be returning

Women looking for a new place for Asian food since we moved to San Marcos earlier this year. I'm so glad we tried wok n roll. Very nice little restaurant with plenty of seating and great atmosphere. The food was absolutely amazing. Had some Kung pow chicken and some sweet-and-sour chicken and it was delicious. Well prepared high-quality chicken meat. I recommend this place to anybody who wants to have a nice Asian dinner. It's my new favorite.

I'll call this "Not worth the Drive" review!! Let's start with the white rice: From experience and home cooking, this rice was an absolute flavorless failure! Mu best guess, they gave us 3 or 4 day old rice, and very hard. In no way would I ever throw my wife under the bus, but with her zero cooking experience I would prefer her "I'll give it a shot" rice over this established restaurant. I would except we just opened, or our rice cooker broke. Second thought there's no excuse to screw up white rice. Sweet n Sour Pork: Flavorless cardboard, cold, dry and sis I mention tasteless. I did add the sauce, of course think g it would help. But hot damn nothing could help this dish. As I'm typing my jar hurts from chewing the pork jerky, oh I'm sorry there failures of sweet n sour pork.. Chicken Lo mein: I'll call this "strike 3"OMG, you can't be serious another tasteless dish. No salt, no flavor what so ever, we had to doctor this up garlic salt, hoisin sauce I have in the fridge. And let me tell you there is no helping this dish to even be called edible. Moo goo gai pan: Let's call this "Your outta here".... Same theme here, like the above dishes. Wait this had a bit of flavor, that is still lingering around in my mouth. And it's not a good lasting flavor either, I wouldn't recommend this dish. To be completely honest I will not recommend this establishment to anyone I know. Unless there's a change in the cook(s), someone with experience in Chinese flavor cuisine. If the owners like I would recommend they go to dine at "Broadway Cuisine" in downtown Los Angeles, with their authentic Chinese food. So all n all, I will not be going back to this non authentic Chinese tasting food restaurant in the near future. I would however return on a few conditions. 1 - When they hire a chef that is familiar with Chinese spices, flavorings. 2 - When the rice cooker is working properly, or I can bring my own washed white rice. 3 - When I can bring Szechuan peppercorn, ginger, garlic and sesame oil to help the cook acquire some flavor to their dishes. Lastly, here are my final thoughts. Wok & Roll, please contact Chef Gordan Ramsey "Kitchen Nightmares" to be placed on his list to help y'all. To think I drove 9 miles for this disastrous dinner, and could have eaten a Panda Express. Wait there's 1 silver lining to our order. The Thai tea was on point, not sure y'all could have messed this up.

I have heard good things about this place.. But it kind of honestly disappointed me. The entrees were good, the egg drop soup was good but the crispy for the soup and the crab rangoons were soggy.. the lemonade says it's freshly squeezed which is NOT true at all, so they don't give free refills on. the ambience of the restaurant was very nice and decorated beautifully. I wouldn't mind giving it another try maybe get something different...who knows maybe it was just a bad day..

Still on the hunt for a good Chinese restaurant so we tried Wok & Roll. Hubby got general tso's and asked for chicken fried rice, and egg roll. Mom had Mongolian beef-spicy , fried rice, and egg roll, and I had something new, garlic beef, fried rice and egg roll. I also got crab Rangoon. The restaurant is really nice and the bathrooms were clean! Hubby said General Tso's was ok and he thinks they gave him pork fried rice. He liked the spice level and the rice. The crab Rangoon did not have crab at all and the egg rolls tasted old. The beef in garlic sauce was sweet and not tasty to me, but it's not my normal entree. Mom said Mongolian beef was ok as well. They were really nice. We were greeted as soon as we entered and our order came up fast. We will keep looking for a good Chinese restaurant.

Really enjoyed the food here. I got the wonton soup. It was a broth with a bit of cabbage which I loved and two wontons on the smaller side along with crispy noodles on the side. I have to say the wontons are the best ones I have ever had. I can usually decipher different tastes but I can't figure this one out. Maybe a bit of a smoky flavor. The egggroll was very good and all the ingredients inside it were fresh! That says a lot if you can notice that. I had shrimp with broccoli and all the ingredients were fresh and perfectly prepared. My husband got chicken fried rice which was a rather hefty serving. The only not so positive were the plants on the edge of the window sill. It just makes it look junky. I definitely would request another booth. We will be back!!

The second we walked in it was cozy. It was also Christmas time so they had a Christmas tree and it was decked out in Christmas decor. Surprisingly there was only one other person besides us. We ordered gyoza as an appetizer. Took a little longer than expected but it tasted pretty good. I personally like mine crispy and this was a little more soft but flavor was good. Then we ordered either the General Tsos or Chicken Katsu (can't remember which!) My husband said it was ok. (But he's also a bit picky). It did come with soup which was your average Asian soup that comes with the meal. I believe it was the clear soup. I ordered the Otsu roll and that was delicious!!! My hubby tried that and he liked it so we ordered another! In fact, we've been back 2x since just to get that roll. It's deep fried with cream cheese, cooked or smoked salmon and eel sauce. Yum! The reason I gave it a 4 stars was for the softer gyoza and for the very slow service. The waiter was very kind and pleasant but he was the only one serving so at one point my husband had to get up and look for him and ask the chef to place another order because we had been waiting again for the waiter which we had to do a few times during our visit. All in all, we will be back! Loved the coziness, the non crowded space and most of the dishes.

What is our purpose? It's a question asked and never answered. As we sit on this floating rock…read moreaddicted to our curated algorithm, I worry our drive and desire for purpose is lessening. One weekend of whimsy and joy is enough to refuel the tank and bring that drive back. One $23 expenditure at Kobe Steak House & Sushi is enough to turn the light back on in my mind and create a divine spiritual experience. While visiting San Marcos for a friend's birthday, we were ultimately led to Kobe for dinner at the recommendation of his roommate. My friend was very excited to put some work in. We arrived a little before 7:45, and after a confusing queue where they messaged us that our table was ready before it was actually ready, we were seated at 8:00. Once you're seated, the waitstaff takes a drink order and explains the process if you need it. I'll explain it here: you're given a piece of paper where you mark what you want from a list identical to the menu. With a group, it's important to collaborate and make sure you get a good order in but not overdo it. Every piece you don't eat is a $.75 charge, so unless you have someone like me who locks in, be careful. For starters, they serve soup, appetizers like edamame, fried rice, rangoon, wontons, and more, plus salads. You order them at the same time as the sushi, but they come faster because the sushi has to be prepared at the bar. The sushi includes your traditional nigiri plus maki and specialty rolls. Once we threw in that first order, we were shortly munching on wontons, rangoon, fried rice, and everything in between. Everything here was good. Nothing too extreme flavor-wise or anything too memorable, but there was nothing I didn't like. Our first plate of sushi came out about 20-25 minutes after we placed the order. Off the dome, we ordered octopus nigiri, salmon nigiri, red snapper nigiri, a Philadelphia roll, a Shaggy Dog roll, a Spider roll, and a few other things I can't remember. I do strongly remember how heavenly the Shaggy Dog and Spider rolls were. It's important to understand that Kobe is not a premium sushi restaurant. Similar concepts that are higher-end can cost $50-$70 a person, and I think you can obviously tell how amazing higher-end sushi is. That concept and this concept are playing a different game. Kobe is in a college town where hungry college kids will shove as many rolls down their throats as they can. For the value, the quality is shockingly high in my opinion. However, I was moving sushi rolls through my system with such efficiency that it's hard to figure out if the rice was old or the sushi had freezer burn like another Yelp review said. Who cares. This place is doing exactly what it's advertising, and you're getting a better deal than what you're paying for. How can this be profitable for Kobe Steak House & Sushi? Our second order had another Shaggy Dog roll, another Spider roll, a TNT roll, and some more nigiri. By the time we burned through that, most of the table was full. I personally could have kept going, but everyone else was a quitter. At least that's what we thought. After our great waitress brought us our checks and we all paid, one of my friends made a big stink about how no one else wanted more and she would've had another Shaggy Dog roll. I wasn't going to let that slide, as I had voiced my opinion of getting another roll going well in advance. The waitress was nice enough to get us another roll after I proceeded to embarrass our entire table about it. We left Kobe before the managerial staff came out and beat us up one by one for being the most annoying table in Kobe history, but it was all worth it. Kobe is one of the best $23 meals I've ever had. A place that made me wish I had gotten a degree at Texas State. It opened my third eye. It was a meal so good we had to pull out the Tarot cards. RIYL: Tim Allen's 2006 family comedy film The Shaggy Dog

I first want to say that our server Madison was wonderful and so friendly!…read more Outside the service, we were disappointed in Kobe. We may be a little spoiled after living in Vegas when it comes to fish quality, and the $15.99 AYCE lunch price may have been a clue, but this was not a solid meal. Some of the fish, specifically the albacore nigiri, was not fresh and was almost dry on top. The salmon was fine, but the tuna was cut poorly and had no flavor. The salmon, tuna rolls had a substantial amount of rice instead of fish, and I've never seen a tuna avocado roll with cream cheese before? At the most maybe some cucumber, but not cream cheese. And the fish in the salmon/tuna rolls was shredded like it was the leftover shreds from nigiri or other rolls. The rice was dry and old, perfect for fried rice, but not sushi. The only rolls that were OK were the Mexican Roll and the Tokyo roll, and they were fine, but then my son had the albacore nigiri and stopped eating. The seats were all torn up as well. The restaurant would benefit from a refresh. I'm not looking for a super fancy, especially when the prices are what they are, but there was a lot of opportunity here.
