Came here on a whim and had a good time. We posted up in the main area (small bar section with a karaoke machine and TV). They have a bunch of private rooms for groups and a good alcohol selection. I did not eat here so I cannot speak for the food. The karaoke was pretty fun, they had modern songs but the playlists were pretty funny. There were some random pics of unrelated artists and some singers had a very odd selection of songs that were available. All in all we had a good time here. I came here for an early Chinese New Years meal with one of my very best friends. She happened to have a restaurant.com certificate from her mom that had a minimum spending requirement. I came in and was warmly greeted by a hostess and she must of known I was looking for my friend because she pointed her out to me. Our waitress came immediately to take my drink order. I had a rough day at work so wanted some booze. I decided on a Scorpion. It was big, sweet, boozy and delicious. I think I was getting tipsy halfway through. That's the way to do it!. We ordered beef chow foon, half a Peking duck, and a specialty sushi roll. The noodles came out first, hot and delicious! Then our sushi with was good (not great). I don't remember the name but it was eel and avocado. Then there was duck! Oh maaaan, it was perfect! The crispy skin, the onions and pancakes, and the sweet and savory dipping sauce. We ordered extra pancakes and sauce and stuffed ourselves silly. Our waitress checked in on us a few times and we had no problems. I ordered the Hawaiian Roll ($14) and the Tiger Skin Roll ($11), and my friend ordered the Vegetarian Combo ($11.50) that included a cucumber roll, asparagus roll, and an avocado roll. We each ordered a glass of soda and used a Groupon. I thought in terms of payment it wasn't too bad. We didn't get hassled, and compared to using my Groupon at Old Dominion a day later, the process was much smoother. The Tiger Skin roll came out when my friend's veg combo did. The Hawaiian Roll arrived almost after she had finished eating. Tiger Skin roll was fresh and good. Eight pieces, reasonably sized. Hawaiian Roll was not quite as awesome. The tempura was either soggy or stale. It didn't have that crunch factor I am used to, and the tail ends of the shrimp indicated the shrimp itself was not as fresh but the rest of the roll was yummy. Despite the hole in wall exterior, the interior was nice. There were a couple of screens, and the spacing between each table made for a comfortable layout. Everyone got seated towards the back of the restaurant when my friend and I were there this past Saturday from noon to 1 pm. One lady was seated in the middle of the restaurant. I will definitely keep this place in mind if I want to get some sushi for a good price during Happy Hour. read more

I got the 8 treasure clay pot which was awesome - scallop, lobster, shrimp, pork, chicken, squid, tofu not sure what the last meat was supposed to be but it also had veggies and was a LOT of food. Happy hour $1.25/pc of nigiri from 3-8 and $2.5 bud light. The fish cuts were good, they don't cut it smaller for happy hour which is awesome. I got salmon, yellowtail, mackeral, spicy tuna, and masago I got the philly roll, cucumber wrapped roll and the shrimp and avocado salad. The philly roll has the smoked salmon which is very salty, but the creamcheese offsets it a bit The cucumber wrapped roll had salmon and tuna with a ginger sauce and tobiko over it which was really good only $7.95! The shirmp and avocado salad uses a wasabi type dressing maybe mixed with sesame dressing, only get 2 pieces of shrimp and maybe 1/4 of an avocado with mixed greens. I ordered this cause I was starving and just wanted something fast. You definitely get your money's worth here, not sure if the groupon is still available but the Happy hour should be enough to get you in here. The service was acceptable, but the food was poor. I had the Kung Pao Chicken was not. Everything g was chopped up tiny and the taste was very poor. I also had the beef Egg Roll. Also not very good. My diner mate didn't like her food either. We left a lot of uneaten food on the plate when we left. There are much better alternatives across the street or next door. You can order off menu ($1.00-$2.00 up charge on some items). Amazing sushi quality fish. Cleanliness: if you come at the height of meals time, or before something at the Verizon center, it's sometimes a disaster, but with so many people eating and rushing at the same time, it's expected. If you want perfectly cleaned tables, come before or after the rush. Service. To tell the truth, they rush you to order. Unlike other restaurants in this area that allow you to talk and take your time. came here for a friend's birthday. I was not expecting to be wow'd but overall i was pleased with our evening. Please not that this is a small establishment so if you have a huge party, it will be difficult to get seated. We started with a group of 8 and they were able to seat us at one of the 3 large round tables. 15 minutes later our group of 8 became 16. The employees were very accommodating and were able to put some tables together so we could all sit together. It also helped that it was past 9pm on a saturday night so the busy dinner rush had passed. We ordered a bunch of sushi and most of it was just ok. Some rolls were smaller than others and a little pricey but we sucked it up (DC prices as expected). We continued the celebration upstairs in the karaoke room. There is an open area with a bar where you can sing out in the open (not sure how much) or if you have a huge group, put your name down on the reservation for a private room as this place has become a popular spot in DC for karaoke. the private rooms are nice, the songlists are extensive and have a variety to choose from as well as other languages. Everything is electronically done on a tablet that is mounted on the wall. My only concern is that the tablet is not portable to pass around the room, so if people wanted to look for songs, you would have 5-6 people glued to the wall searching for their perfect song. read more

Been going to Wok and Roll for a few years now. Their shrimp and dumpling soup is my go-to dish. They always serve it piping hot in these huge bowls with generous portions. It is definitely my comfort food during the cold fall/winter months. Their sushi is pretty good. Ditto for the (many) other items I've had. The drinks are probably some of the most affordable you'll get in the city. Everyone that I've ever taken here has loved the food! The service is so-so. Most of the servers are good but the last 6 or 7 times I went they kept giving me the same server. Not to be mean, but the lady just isn't that bright... plus she hardly speaks English, so it can be frustrating trying to communicate what I need. A member of your party has to go pick up orders from the bar, taking out more time from your karoake experience. The pitcher alcohol mixture is below average as well. A subpar $40 pitcher will cost you nearly $52 for an amateur bar tender (not even a bar tender) quesstimate the picther portions and not bring it to you. They have a pretty good song selection in my option, and they room is very nice. They should just increase their hourly rate instead of a jacked up automatic gratuity, for no room service. read more

I had read numerous reviews, both good and bad and was in two minds when deciding to order here. But, I was away for the weekend, at a hotel and wanted something other than bar food. Bar food might have been better. The delivery was late, which wasn't unusual, but when the driver called to berate me for not being in the lobby, I was more than perturbed and informed his snarky ass that I was sitting right at the front door with the doorman and had been doing so for the past thirty minutes and so where was the delivery guy? He immediately became apologetic and said he would arrive with my food quickly. The soup was barely lukewarm - I gave it to a friend as I was afraid to try it. The egg rolls. Meh. I can't even describe them beyond that. Edamame was good. Just the right amount of salt and not over or under cooked. The eel roll was on a par with any found in a grocery store - nothing spectacular. The chirashi was so disappointing that I wanted my money back. When you pay that much for chirashi, you want more than one or two pieces of badly sliced fish and a pile of of imitation crabmeat. And the fish? I am not too sure just how fresh it was on one piece. This restaurant is right in China Town. I went at about 6 and it was not full. They have lunch specials available. They serve sushi and have pho(Chinese version) as well. It's China Town, so there's really no parking available. I ordered the teriyaki chicken pho. It was pretty good besides the naruto which I will remember to not get next time. The food was pretty good. I love the chicken. My friend ordered the pho as well and enjoyed his meal. Between the both of us, the meal was $23. We didn't try the Japanese food, just had some standard Chinese dishes that were tasted like good Chinese restaurants make them. Hot and sour soup had a good balance of hot and vinegar but at $2.95 a bowl higher than most other restaurants.
