This place was a HUGE disappointment! The customer service is LITERALLY the worst! Some friends and I took my girlfriend there to cheer her up and although we had reserved a room and were already in the room... spending money... they gave our space away. Not only was there no remorse for their error and inconvenience ... they acted as though they didn't care at all. Also... one of my friends got really sick off their food and while she was in the bathroom vomiting, they wouldn't let us bring her Gatorade to help her recover. This is the most unorganized establishment I have ever been in. Not only is it completely disgusting and smell horrible (someone should honestly call the health department) but on top of that they gave several peoples karaoke rooms away. My group along with other waited 1-2 hours for our reservation just to be told that they gave our rooms away. The Singapore noodles were pretty tasteless, not spicy but still full of the necessary ingredients - the meat was plentiful but was just very bland. I almost let the other low ratings discourage me from going. The place was nice though. It was clean. I was seated quickly and the food came out quickly. Specialty sushi rolls were fresh and displayed nicely. Servers weren't particularly attentive. You had to waive one down if you needed anything. It wasn't hard to get their attention though. One was friendly. The other seemed to be in a bad mood. Sushi is $1.25 per piece for happy hour. $2.50 beers. I'll be back for that. A neat piece of history about this place too. With so many Chinese restaurants in the area, we weren't sure where to go, so the kids chose this because of the name. The atmosphere is nothing special but the menu is extensive. I started with the won ton soup which was good, 2 others had the miso soup and the hot and sour soup and they both liked them. I ordered the chicken chow mein and couldn't understand the server telling me it was served on hard noodles. It arrived extremely hot, and the hard noodles it was served on was like a bird nest. It's like nothing I have ever had, and I didn't really like it. Chicken was scarce in this meal. My niece ordered chicken fried rice, and it was a nice size order and had a good flavor. Again, very little chicken. My nephew ordered shrimp lo mein, and didn't realize until he was half way through eating that it was chicken lo mein. Again, very little chicken. He did enjoy the meal. My husband had the sesame chicken which was the best meal of all of ours. The chicken was tender, and the sauce was tasty. As we were eating, several bugs started crawling up the wall next to me. This restaurant is located near by job so my co-worker and I decided to come in for lunch one day. It is located in a very touristy area and we went during the holidays so it was very packed at lunch time on a Tuesday. We were able to sat immediately. They serve crunchy friend noodles at the table. I ordered the general tsos chicken and my coworker had a shrimp and broccoli. The lunch portions were reasonably priced and a good size. We also had hot saki. The food was pretty good. We didn't have to wait long despite the crowd. The service was fine. I have no complaints but I can't say I loved it and I'm not highly anticipating a return visit. Definitely a good lunch spot if you want a quick sit-down experience. read more

They have horrible customer service. I placed an order online and I had to call to update my order by asking that they make sure to put my 3 orders of chicken on a stick in separate bags. Apparently they're trying to save money at the expense of the customer by putting all the orders in the same container. Rather than just saying no problem and fixing this issue the employee and/or manager started an argument me with me about how they do multiple orders of this item and that I should make sure to put this in my initial order next time. This was very disappointing and I will be sharing my experience with my family and friends and suggest that they never order from here. And nor may I ever again. read more

Great place for a night with friends. I've never actually had the food here, but if you like making being a fool in front of your friends this is the place. Drinks are a little pricey but they have a lot of different sized rooms for you and your friends' karaoke needs. The largest they can fit is around 25 people with the smallest around 6 to 7. If you like sing alongs and being loud this is the place for you in D.C. The system is a little confusing so don't be afraid to ask how it works. It only takes the first letter of each word when you search. Also some of the songs are in Chinese or the live version so make sure it is the artist that has the original version for the song. Drinks can be pricey but at least they use a lot of alcohol. It isn't mostly mixer when you buy a drink. Which means you are in for a good time read more

Wok & Roll is Washington, D.C.'s premier venue for those who can't choose between their love of Asian food and terrible singing. This authentic Sino-Japanese restaurant is located in the heart of D.C.'s cultural center, only a short walk from Madame Tussauds, the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, and the historic Ford Theatre. That last bit is probably why it was a convenient place for John Wilkes Booth and his co-conspirators to plan the assassination of President Lincoln. Of course, Booth and his buddies didn't organize the murder of a president over some sushi while someone was butchering Don't Stop Believin' in the background. Back in the 1860s, it was just another boarding house owned by an old landlady named Mary Surratt. Located right down the block from Ford Theatre, it was one of many short-term apartments for struggling-actors-cum-dumb-assassins. Booth and his other conspirators lived at Surratt's boarding house from September 1864 to April 1865. When Lincoln was shot, Booth was arrested and Surratt got to pocket a security deposit. Or she would have, had she not been executed by hanging after being named as one of the co-conspirators. And if she thought her reputation couldn't be tarnished any further, now her boarding house is a monument to drunken confidence and bad vocal training. read more

Super creepy and suspicious security check to get into karaoke. The security guard checked our bags in every crevice, and seemed obviously looking for something thats not a drink or food. Made both of us really suspicious what kinds of things was going on in the "karaoke" rooms. After having our bags checked and dumping out our water bottles, which took forever, they only afterwards proceeded to tell us they didn't have small rooms for the two of us. It seems like something they should have done before bag check. We considered getting a larger room but was just too creeped out by the process. I've been to a bunch of other similar karaoke places in DC, and none of them operated like this. Was afraid that the security check was because they have a drug or gun problem prior that they were trying to catch and I just didn't feel safe being there. So strange and creepy! read more

This review is strictly based on its karaoke merits. I really love the fact that I can go there and sing to my heart's content in a private room with my friends, but the place leaves a lot to be desired other than that. The staff are rude, the impose silly minimums, the drinks are outrageously priced, and the actual karaoke system requires a Ph.D. to operate. They definitely gets points in my history nerd book, though. Little known fact: Wok and Roll is actually the Mary Surratt House where the Lincoln assassination was plotted. read more

We had a Groupon to come to this place. The person I was with and many of her friends rave about this place, but I didn't find it all that special. Good sushi, don't get me wrong, but I felt as if it's sushi you can get anywhere. The crab rangoon didn't have very much filling and the egg rolls were very greasy. I rented out a room for 10 for my birthday and it was amazing and worth the rate! I initially thought people would come to serve you drinks with the gratuity but you had to go to the bar which was no biggie! They had a ton of hit and newer songs and me and my friends sang and danced the night away for our 2hr rental! One of the best and affordable Chinese lunches in the area. Singapore Stir-Fried Noodles non nom and you cannot beat the lunch price and portion size. I've been trying to get to this place for months now. Finally booked for my birthday yesterday I'm very disappointed. The set up is awesome but the song selection is trash. They need to update the song list. They don't have a wide variety of artist if they did it wasn't many songs to choose from. I'm a occasional drinker every once in a while so a glass of wine will have me drunk and not wanting any more. Anywho the drinks are to expensive to be watered down I had to argue with the bartender about making me a mixed drink with less then a shot of Hennessy. I had 4 Hennessy and pineapple juice and went home sober as hell. They charge 18% gratuity on even a single persons check when you go to the bar.
