Wok n' Roll was a third choice for dinner this past weekend, my brother and sister-in-law meant to grab some fancy pizza, but unfortunately those place were too crowded! However, even though there was a line, we were seated at Wok n' Roll fairly quickly; it's actually quite a large space, and there is a sushi bar as well! The Chinese-Japanese menu is convenient if, like us, you wanted to enjoy a sushi dinner but still order a crab rangoon appetizer (see pictures above). The sushi itself was nothing to write home about, and some of the california rolls were not structurally sound, but it was a tasty meal nonetheless, with friendly and efficient service and great prices! I would come here again if I was in Chinatown, and you should definitely check out if you're not sure if you're in the mood for Chinese or Japanese food. read more

Great Chinese restaurant right in the heart of Chinatown in Washington, DC. Super-convenient location. The food is delicious, the beers on the happy hour menu are really cheap, and they are accommodating for food allergies (I'm allergic to MSG, which is in most Chinese dishes, so they simply sauteed veggies and meat for me without using any sauce, which contains MSG). read more

I went here for happy hour, and the food was awful. The chicken was cold when it was served to me, and the "sushi" was a block of rice with a piece of imitation crab/fish on top. The management also refused to offer us anything (alternative food, refund), etc. when we did not feel comfortable eating the food. I would not recommend eating here. although this place is known for their sushi, i highly recommend you guys to try their noodle soups. i had their honey california roll, which tasted basically like any other california roll. Came here with a group of six people. Four of the six ordered Sushi and the other two ordered typical Chinese dishes. Everyone enjoyed their food and would definitley recommend to someone heading to China town. **The place doesn't look like much from the outside however, everything tasted good and the place looked clean inside. The karaoke rooms are very clean, but it is missing a lot of the songs we really enjoy from doing KTV in New York City. It also had strange cover songs in place of several of the songs we tried to use. Also, they charged a 20% gratuity on the room charge and a 20% gratuity on food and drinks. My entrée tasted good, but a couple of my friends didn't eat theirs because they thought they were too salty (and they got carry-out from next door after we did our two hours of karaoke). The food prices are fairly reasonable At the KTV places in New York, there is no fee for the room, but you are required to order a minimum of $50 worth of food and drink per hour. Here, the fee was $35 for a small room ($45 with taxes and gratuity), which only covered the room, and the cost of food and drinks was separate. We had four people, but the room could have comfortably seated about eight people. read more

This restaurant was one of the only asian spots open for delivery after 11pm, so we decided to get a few orders of appetizers. Not only were they out of what we had ordered, but they also arrived TWO AND A HALF HOURS after we had placed our order. The woman on the phone was enormously unhelpful the three times I tried calling in to check on the status, and refused to offer any courtesy discounts. The well-awaited dumplings themselves were not at all worth our trouble, and were completely cold... and more dough than filling. I was really looking forward to the sushi and General Tso's Chicken I ordered from here. I had placed an online delivery order last night from the eat24hours site, as I had never tried Wok and Roll before and the menu looked really good. I have never been so dissapointed with a takeout order in my life. I'm one of those people who could eat sushi every meal for the rest of their lives, and I ended up throwing half of it away. No flavor whatsoever. Even the items listed as "spicy" had no heat or taste at all. The General Tso's Chicken, while good, was nothing special either. I have religiously eaten at this restaurant since the summer of 2008 when it was right around the corner from my office. I suggest that you do the same. Everything is fresh and delicious, particularly the soups and any of the noodle dishes. The wait staff is great, and no matter what time it is, you can always expect the place to be moderately full to full with patrons. Good food. my only issues was that it seemed like it had a lot of food coloring, like maybe it was artificial & not as fresh as I like. We were all attended to though and it was somewhat affordable. Good place if you want good service, not-too-expensive food and a quiet atmosphere. If you're very sensitive to artificial dyes and preservatives, etc, not as much. Spider roll was amazing tho and sashimi and all yellowtail dishes were perfect. They don't overuse rice. Seemed pretty clean as well. I would also advise fixing paper towel dispenser in bathroom. I would never feel safe eating at a place where all employees' hands are not thoroughly washed. I would also advise removing the over excess of stickers from the front of the restaurant and working on overall cosmetic appeal by fixing little things like chipped tables, lighting, etc read more

Got delivery on a Sunday night. Food was just okay. Some rolls had imitation crab where the menu didn't say it would be imitation. The smaller usual rolls were good but the spicy yellowtail had more cucumber than yellowtail which is odd since most don't come with cucumber at all. So this filler technique was disappointing. As an out of town visitor, My observations are the following: The wait staff upstairs in the karaoke room are just plain rude, inattentive and indifferent! The staff makes no effort whatsoever to make the customer feel comfortable... the atmosphere felt as though they were bothered by our presence... Staff was more attentive to their phones and gave priority to texting than attending to customers. As a businessman, I am fully aware that this results in loss of sales. Furthermore as a businessman I would be more attentive to the behavior of my staff... Staff behavior is a reflection of the leadership and it leaves a lot to be desired. read more

The food was subpar. Sesame beef was inedible - the sweetness of sauce completely killed the flavor of meat. Thai ice tea was served with 80% ice and barely any liquid. When I asked for a second glass of ice tea with light ice, the waitress looked shocked and said the drink would be too sweet. Upon insistence, she gave in. The taste actually approximated the Thai ice teas I've had in good places but it was still watered down. My daughter's udon was also not what was expected- she left it all. To top it all off, when my husband left a 10% tip (a generous offering given the experience), the waitress had an audacity to say that 15% was a REQUIRED minimum! The food was excellent and we ate there twice. We had General Tso's chicken, sea bass filet with vegetables, sweet and sour shrimp, hot and sour soup, won ton soup, chinese tea and rice. The fish was very fresh and good with a delicious, smell with greens and a sauce that was just right. The General Tso's chicken was a hit and was ordered both meals. Don't order frozen drinks at a Chinese restaurant. That should be obvious, but we had this badly timed craving and paid for it by pretending to enjoy an excessively sweet mixture with vodka (instead of rum.) The sushi was decent, especially the Crunchy Salmon Avocado roll. We also had the spicy tuna, California, and salmon roll. The salmon roll was bland, California was snackable, and the spicy tuna was worthy. I had the wonton soup and it was average. We saw a family with what looked to be General Taos Chicken and it looked too saucy and sticky. The general feel of the place was grimy, I would probably not return. My friend and I went there because we had a groupon coupon and we would like to give that place a try. The sushi were okay, but just okay. The Chinese food was REALLY bad. We ordered the dumplings and honestly they had the thickest dumpling skins I've ever seen. Ended up we wasted lots of food. We had a bill of 50 and minus the coupon was 30. It's expensive for the food we had cuz u definitely can find much better Chinese food in Chinatown. Their drinks were way too expensive also so probably water is the best choice of all.
