Traveling through and thought home cooking would be good. Absolutely awful. The chicken fried steak was so grisly you had to saw and saw to get a bite. Once you started chewing you had to spit it out because it would not break down. The cornbread was burnt and the Mac and cheese was like wall paper paste. Found this spot when we were looking for a place to have a lite dinner. Shared a baked potato and ordered salads. Only house made dressing was the ranch, which was decent. The potato was large, and came with plenty of toppings. Had that "family owned" vibe, and the service was attentive. read more

For a little diner off the main highway going south from OK into TX - this place is a hidden treasure!! Food was GREAT! WORST SERVICE EVER. Didn't catch the name of the 'server' (and I use that term lightly), but the big, tall blonde girl should not be in the food service industry. Never received our meal. She didn't notice because she was too busy meandering around with nothing to do but chat with her buddies in the corner by the kitchen. She didn't notice our empty drinks or our food that never came out. We sat for an hour waiting before deciding to leave. SHE DID NOT CARE ONE BIT about her her customers. She didn't check on us. She didn't refill our drinks. She never came back to the table once she took our order. She ran up to us as we were standing in line at the register to pay for our drinks and the salads that another waitress brought to our table, and made some kind of lame-o excuse about our ticket being lost and she had no idea where it went. Do you think an actual server might notice their customer has no food? Or that their drinks were empty? Maybe??? Here's a thought...Maybe she could've asked the cooks??? - OR -Maybe she could've done her job and CHECKED ON US??? JUST ONCE?! I previously gave this place 5 stars. Because of this experience, I take my 5 stars back and give them 1, and they are lucky there isn't an option for a zero rating. I'm SO angry!!! We recently had the pleasure of eating here while visiting family in Sherman Texas. Wow this place I can't say enough about. The place is clean. The people are really nice and the menu has plenty of choices. I opted for the chicken fried steak. Bcz I make an effort to try everyone's chicken fried steak. I do the same with carnitas. I love both. So I make it my goal to find the best. Well this places hands down has the best chicken fried steak I have ever eaten. I haven't been too impressed with most places chicken fried steak lately. But this one had perfect breading. Excellent steak with gravy. It's just tasted great. I went all out fat boy. I had the mashed potatoes with gravy and green beans. Then I saw someone get the Mac and cheese. So I was like oh hell yes. I hollered to the waitress and she promptly brought me some. Man this food was so good. That I'd be a regular if I lived near by. Which may happen soon. The waitress was very friendly and had a great personality. I have to say we were a group of six who were disappointed in our meals. My husband loves chicken fried steak. My daughter boyfriend also ordered chicken fried steak. The steaks were spoilt. The meat was green/gray. My husband discretely told our waitress that the meat was spoilt. She offered to replace it and he declined. Next we have what we assume is a manager come and tell my husband that the steak is fine it just tastes that way because it is soaked in buttermilk. My husband explained he knows when meat is spoiled. She dropped of a piece of German chocolate cake that was probably close to a week old "on the house". He didn't eat it either. They spilt ranch all over the boyfriends steak. I ordered the jalapeño grilled pork chop. It was tough as boot leather. Thankfully the potatoes (instant) were edible. The 4 layer chocolate cake was chocolate pudding with whipped cream on a pie crust that wasn't edible. The mandarin orange cake was decent. The pinto beans had absolutely no seasoning at all. After paying $120 bucks we will pass on this place when we come back to Gainesville. read more

Me and my mom were passing through Gainesville and we were dying of hunger. We looked on yelp and saw Wolf Den and thought we would give it a try. I got the chicken tenders and they were perfectly cooked and very crispy on the outside so it had a nice crunch. The prices are very good and the employees are very kind and they bring the food out very quickly. If you are looking for a lot of food they have the wolfden challenge which has 5 chicken fried steaks and some other stuff and if you eat it within the time limit it is free and if not it is only $35 which is a really good price if you are eating with a few people. They have special sides depending on the day you go there. When we went they had black eyed peas and Mac and cheese. I recommend this to anyone passing through Gainesville with an appetite. read more

I usually am very critical of chicken fried steak because it is over done or has to much batter however my meal at this places had perfect seasoning, texture and fry to it. The plate was much larger than I needed and portions were huge. This easily could have been 2 meals for me even after a busy day and being very hungry. The service was very quick. I guess I was a little confused on their cheeseburgers, even though it's clearly written on the menu I couldn't decide on what I wanted, everyone in my party had ordered so I hurriedly ordered "just a regular cheeseburger, Mayo no mustard", expecting cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles...the whole normal toppings. What I got was some type of white cheese- it wasn't Swiss - mustard, tomatoes and lettuce. Which it was fine, just not my favorite choice of toppings. By looking at the choices of hamburgers on the menu, I'm not sure they have a "regular" one, if we go back, I'll have to pay more attention, lol.
