After two years, we had the opportunity to purchase our present location. It had been a Scandinavian gift shop for a number of years. As we moved into the new location and after extensive remodeling and decorating, we fell more in love with our Swedish heritage. So, we decided to try something very unusual and combined the two businesses. Over the years, we have added on to the property yet with a concern to keep the charm of the original building. We shop various markets each year as well as going to Scandinavia in order to offer the best selection possible. Now you will see beautiful handcrafted wooden pieces to the very simple smr (butter) knives - from the fine hand blown Orrefors crystal to the replacement glass for the Danish iron candle holders. We carry T-shirts to hand woven sweaters and so much more. My favorite items are: My #1 favorite item is their fragrance free goat's milk and Shea butter lotion. I have a small bottle I'm my purse at all times, as well as at work and home. It's not greasy, has no smell, and is hypoallergenic. Any of the lip balms, but especially the 24K Honey, which cleared up my dry and cracking lips last winter. I asked for more information about it and none of the 4 associates knew anything about the product they were selling. I walked around for a little while longer and finally inquired about engraving and the associate told me it was $6 for two words. Came back the next day and bought something to get it engraved, the lady said it was $6 a word not $6 for two. I had already paid so I was SOL. Sales associates don't know anything about the store and fail at communicating. Don't waste your time.

I would secretely love to meet the team of writers who come up with their witty and ridiculous cards. The last time I went in, I had a panic attack thinking they had limited their Fresh Ink selection, but calmed down when I found the rest on the bottom shelf. Three cards will run you around $8, though that doesn't include their oversized cards, ones with sound and the highly embellished ones. If you're looking for a deal, the back right corner of the store has clearance from 25-90% off. I've found thank you notes, mugs and beautiful photo frames for excellent prices on these wonderful shelves. Several years later I was informed that the replacement lights were no longer available which left me with the decision of having my tree restrung with new lights or buy a whole new tree. I was not happy with the attitude and service from where I bought the tree so I went to Ambrose. The restrung my tree with many more lights then it originally came with and it looks amazing. Best of all, after three years I have had to replace only two lights-that's two lights total after three years compared to replacing dozen(s) of lights each year from the garden center. Do yourself a favor and go to the pros first. You will save money in the long run.
