The Big Bad Wolf- carve off the bone ham
    Jacklyn P.

After a long morning working from home, my partner and I decided to head out for lunch in Leonia, NJ. We had a few errands to run and wanted something quick, but not the usual Chipotle or fast food. Craving Korean fried chicken, we wandered around reading menus posted in windows, but nothing jumped out. Until we stumbled across Wolf It, a retro sandwich shop. At first glance, the sign made me laugh. it looked like it had a few beer barrels, but they turned out to be pickle barrels. Initially I thought it was a bit misleading, but actually, it's kind of brilliant. From the outside you might not expect much, but once you step inside, you're pleasantly surprised. The vibe is straight out of the 50s-70s, cozy and nostalgic. Since it was lunch, we went with their $10 special: 1/2 sandwich with homemade soup or salad. Yes, you read that right, ten bucks for a full lunch. The menu is stacked with sandwich options, but I landed on the Highwood (carved prime rib, brie, tomato, sautéed onions, and horseradish sauce). I'd give it an 7.6/10. My sides: a fresh garden salad and an orange cream soda. My partner went with the Big Bad Wolf (carved-off-the-bone ham, shredded lettuce, tomato, avocado, chipotle mayo, and house vinaigrette). I rated it a 9.5/10. He paired it with chicken soup and a green apple soda. We decided to swap a few bites in through. his sandwich was so good I had to claiming it. The owner was incredibly welcoming, even telling us, "You always have a place here. come anytime." And honestly, we definitely will. For $10, the portions are generous, plenty of meat, fresh ingredients, and tons of flavor. The retro decor adds to the charm, and they even have milkshakes on the menu (next time for sure). Overall, a solid 8.5/10 experience. If you're in Leonia and craving something hearty, affordable, and unique, Wolf It is worth a stop!

I have seen this spot before while just searching thru Yelp and I'm glad my friend suggested we eat at this spot Friday afternoon. I ended up getting the regular #7 Allaire ($14.50) which is a grilled chicken sandwich with fresh mozzarella, sun dried tomatoes, broccoli raab, oil and balsamic vinegar. It was tasty and the bread was fresh. Solid sandwich. Solid sandwich spot, I would recommend if you're in the mood for it and in the area. * Street parking and free parking lot nearby * Lunch special $10.50. Pick two: half sandwich, salad and soup of the day

Nice to have a sandwich place in town! May not be the best place to go on Saturday. On my first visit I learned that there were no pork products (I don't think they had the lamb either). Not sure if that's still the case though. We had the Highland. They didn't fully make it based on the description. They added the fig jam, which is typically on the Pailin. The sweetness kind of threw off the flavor. On my next visit I ordered a full of the Highwood. When you order a full they essentially give you two sandwiches. It's not one large load cut in half. This sandwich was okay. Definitely lacking in flavor. There was not much meat and the meat was good! The Brie didn't really seem to work with the sandwich. It could've used more onions and horseradish sauce along with more meat. There's potential. You can dine in and there are a few tables outside.

A cute cafe with sandwiches, shakes, salads. All the sandwiches are named after Leonia streets. My sandwich (Allaire) was tasted fresh and my OJ was freshly squeezed. Love seeing new restaurants open in this town. Will definitely be back next weekend!

So glad we found this local place! Ordered the Oaktree sandwich and it was delicious. Exactly what I was craving and the bread had the perfect texture (not too soft and not too hard). I don't like it when you get a sub and by the time you get home the bread is all soggy. This sub was delicious and ingredients tasted fresh. Will definitely come back and support our local business!

Amazing service & food! We were visiting from out of town and wanted an authentic family style sandwich shop - and this was perfect! The staff was all very pleasant and the food was 10/10!

#17 Van Orden - picture doesn't do it justice. I could TASTE each meat which combined to a flavor explosion

We now have a wonderful sandwich shop in town. Puts the franchises to shame. Let's start with the bread. Some are served on what I will call a focaccia. Just the right amount of chew and full of flavor. Others are served on a crisp baguette, crisp crust and fluffy crumb. Now the fillings 27 varieties of proteins and cheeses. When was the last time you saw pork loin on a sandwich menu. It was heavenly. Roast beef was tender and tasty with just the correct amount of horseradish spread and the addition of egg salad to the sandwich put it top of my list. The #17, Van Orden is the "Italian" sub that mocks everyone else's. Find parking in public lot behind store. The interior is cute with a few table. But get it to go and walk down a block and enjoy under a tree in the sculpture garden or down Fort Lee Rd to Overpeck park.

    Highwood !

Generally don't give 5 stars anymore but Wolf It is deserving of it. Randomly found this spot and the menu looked interesting so we grabbed a few sandwiches. I had the Grandview , it's a take on a Cuban and they really got it right. Will definitely have this again and highly recommend it. Wife had the Highwood and she was vet happy with her choice. I had a bite and loved it. My son had a turkey and cheese (which they made exactly as he wanted) was delicious. Excited to explore the menu as there are a some delicious sounding choices.

Awesome little sandwich shop with great bread, coffee, smoothies and salads. The owner Ron is really friendly and makes everyone feel welcome. They have a cozy seating area if you want to dine in and tables outside in the Spring/Summer. I love this place, I'll definitely be back.

    Where is there outdoor seating?

There is usually a small bistro table right outside the window. However they might have taken it inside due to the constant rain.

With our options limited, we decided to try Café August. We ordered the strawberry Nutella croffle, matcha shaved ice, pineapple sparkling ade and white peach sparkling ade. Everything was 10/10. The croffle was the perfect "appetizer" to introduce us to a night of sweets. It came out promptly, looked gorgeous, and was ideally crunchy with juicy strawberries on top. The shaved ice was my favorite. We opted for the bowl, which easily fed three people, and could have possibly fed five. The shaved ice was sweet, fluffy, dusted with matcha powder, and had what felt like endless toppings, including matcha ice cream, red bean, mochi, and more. There were enough toppings for everyone! The drinks deserve their own review- they are spectacular with a frozen teddy bear ice cube on top. Such cute presentation! The pineapple flavor was slightly stronger, and the white peach was subtler and very refreshing. We could not stop playing with and admiring the frozen teddy bears. Overall, this shop feels underrated compared to other spots on Broad Ave. Would would definitely come here again and so nice that they are open late. Thank you, Café August! PS. Their dainty silverware is very classy, too.

I didn't care so much for the injeolmi which was on the harder side but the red bean with the ice cream that drizzled all over the ice was the perfect combination. The ice cream had a very rich milky flavor which I feel like a lot of shaved ice place's ice cream do not. - Mango Shaved Ice - I didn't like this one as much but I did appreciate the huge chunks of mango. Overall, I'm definitely excited to come back to try more of their unique shaved ice flavors especially the sweet corn!

Considering how I had an impulsive meal at McDonald's for $13 of similar portions not too long ago, Marty's is a better deal by miles. The chicken sandwich is nicely battered and arrived slathered in their house sauce that reminds me of In N Out's 'animal' sauce. I like the addition of the sweet pickles, too. And their Cole slaw is actually good; also made in house. The fries used to be thinner, which I miss. But I can't get over how good the salt and vinegar ones are. I will just have to accept the regression in quality. Nothing lasts forever, after all.

This simple makeup of ribeye, cheese, onions, and fresh bread is what makes the sandwich so alluring to anyone. A great cheesesteak requires an even mixing of the parts. That means the cheese is melted and mixed with each crevice of the beef and onions. The bread encases the entirety. Every single bite should be consistent with the last and the next. However, in Jersey, one might think the best cheesesteaks only come from the boardwalks. Voted the Best Cheesesteak in Bergen County according to their website, my partner and I decided to pay a visit to Bob-O's Cheesesteaks, located on Main Street in Ridgefield Park, for lunch. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the staff at a simple and clean interior. Lighting is basic and bright with a row of full windows with single seating providing a more spacious feel as well as 4 tables indoors and 5 tables for outdoor dining during pleasant weather. Their big-size menu is featured on the wall with cheesesteaks, egg rolls, sides, and much more. We decided on the Bob-O Sandwich, Chicken Cutlet Sandwich, and Onion Rings. Food was prepared fresh per order. The sandwiches were really delicious and served hot. However, the peppers used on the Bob-O killed it. It looked like roasted peppers from the jar were used and not the fresh peppers sautéed with onion. The onion rings were hot, crispy with no oil or sogginess and didn't skimp. The portions were huge, and the price was comparable to the area. Service was fast and friendly. Despite this hiccup, we would give this place another try.
