This was my first time purchasing a cake from this bakery and it will be the last. I ordered the cake and I explained to the young lady that I only wanted red, black and white on the cake. I also told her this was a cake for a man 50th Birthday. I go to pickup my cake and here they have very little red and black on the cake but had roses (that I did not order) with a green stem. I spoke to the manager name Linda and explained to her this is not what I ordered and I have a color scheme that does not include green. She told me that when I ordered my cake I should have told them not to put certain things on my cake. Since when do you go order a custom cake and tell them its for a man and to only put certain colors on the cake is not enough. She told me o well they have no one here that could fix the cake and that I was not obligated to take the cake. I have an event today and do not have time to order a cake from somewhere else. She was not helpful at all especially seeing that they messed my cake up for someone's 50th Birthday. I still purchased the cake but I will never come here again. Own your mistakes and try to make your customers happy Linda! Not tell me how I should have ordered my cake so the worker could have wrote the order up better. read more

I contacted Wolf bakery from COLORADO as I was planning my parents' 50th wedding anniversary party in Chicago.(I am a corporate event planner in Colorado by trade.) I sent them an old black and white photo from my parents' wedding album and hoped for the best. Wolf's not only delivered the cake on time to the party but... my Mother said it was better than her wedding cake! It was beautiful! Excellent work and caring staff! None better on the South Side!!! Ordered a chocolate fantasy cake. They are amazing cakes very rich. My son asked for one cherry in the middle. The lady told me "no we can't do that". I was like seriously you can't put ONE cherry in the middle. "Let me go ask my manager. She said no we can't do that, if we do it for you we will have to do it for everyone". You would think a business that has been around this long would have some sort of customer skills. I guess I should of said pretty please. Good desserts bad people skills. read more

It was ok. Walked in and the lady was at first ignorant. It smelled like bleach. The donut has no taste. The cookies left an aftertaste. Though service by the end was better then when we walked in, it wouldn't be our first choice of bakery considering how many there are on 95th street. read more

I love this bakery one the best red velvet cake so fluffy and not your average frosting. I have been come here for years and always good customer service and bad but good deserts. The butter frost is not to sweet but taste very light and fluffy. One time I order a birthday cake and unfortunately we had to celebrate a week later and the cake was still moist and taste after being in the refrigerator. After hearing so much about the little cupcakes and lemon cakes that everyone raved about online-- I decided to go to the bakery myself, when I was looking for bakeries for birthday cakes for a relative-- unfortunately there was a huge sanitation problem in the bakery as soon as we entered, there was a weird sour-y smell of dirty-mop-water that permeated the entire bakery and floors, that made me feel sick to my stomach, and I was not the only one in the group to notice-- I thought back to the times that a coworker brought in baked goods from Wolf's wondering if it smelled like this when they bought snacks for our meetings and just thinking about it made it (the nausea) even worse... I went to the display to see if the smell was everywhere or just by the door, and it was allover the bakery- I basically held my breath the entire time-- and the workers acted like they couldn't smell a thing-- when we inquired, they said the floors were just cleaned, so it may smell a little wet-- wet and dirty are two different things-- It smelled like dirty-mop-water and was literally like standing next to an open garbage bin-- nobody ordered anything we all left -very upset. It's not that difficult to change the bucket-water when cleaning and to sanitize with bleach or pinesol... I know a few reviewers complained about a 'bleach-y' smell-- I wish that was the case here, as bleachy or minty are very different from dirty and garbage-y... I know 1 or 2 people who own small restaurants (but-not bakeries) and if the employees used dirty water to clean - or if it smelled like that, for any reason, everyone would be fired for not meeting basic hygiene standards... I don't know anyone who would want to eat food in a smelly environment (or from an unsanitary establishment)-- Maybe they were having a bad day, but it really reeked-- Awful. read more

Oh. My. Goodness. Wolf's is outstanding- a great bakery with amazing selection. Their danish are among the best I've ever had, and my wife loves their cream puffs/eclairs. I've yet to try their Lemon Cake, but I've heard from two customers in store that I *must* try it! Great atmosphere, friendly staff (they seem to always have enough people to keep the line moving- which is appreciated). I'm 58 and Wolf's has been around for a long, long time. Growing up in both Marquette Park and Mt. Greenwood, IL., real bakeries were a staple. Our family predominately patronized Weber's in Chicago for just about everything, but Wolf's was always the second choice. Either way, the "W's" have it! Currently living in Orland Park the options for real and really good bakeries, are dwindling, so today I stopped at Wolf's and grabbed a fried raspberry jelly filled sugar Bismarck, a brownie with nuts, a cherry and apricot kolachky and a yellow cake cupcake with a rainbow swirl of pastel colored buttercream. The Bismarck and kolachkys were spectacular. The cupcake was just moist enough with good buttercream, pretty also, but a basic, just fine cupcake, not surprising and not out of this world. The brownie was fine but the chocolate is more spectacular over at Weber's and a bit moister. Weber's has that thing with their chocolate....hard to beat! Wolf's seems pricier tho in general with most things, and that surprises me. Wolf's is the real deal tho, don't miss it or pass it up.......these places are disappearing fast. Someday no one will ever know what it was like to eat at a real bakery! read more

I will preface my review with this, "I love Wolf's Bakery and have for close to 15 years. I have purchased from this bakery solely for all of my bakery goods." Having said that, it saddens me greatly that with their delivery service, apparently there is some growing to do. I spent a small amount (~$30) and live only about a mile away in a HOUSE with a fence in a residential area. 1st) I got a call about the delivery one day in advance announcing delivery will not be made to any apartment in a building. Well, I live in a house, so that presumption is alarming. 2nd) I ordered a day ahead, just as the app only allows and still I wait until 2 pm for a delivery. Fine! But, I am most disappointed and most upset that the delivery person arrived and placed my order OUTSIDE the gate to my HOUSE despite the delivery note to place the order on the stairs and ring the door bell to alert us the delivery has been made. Who comes to a person's HOUSE and cannot distinguish that it is a HOUSE and not an apartment building and cannot see the gate, stairwell and the bell on the house to carry out the delivery? This was unacceptable and requires growth. Otherwise, I adore Wolf's and this tarnishes their image with me. read more

The lemon fluff cake is quite a delicacy, indeed! I highly recommend frequenting this family owned bakery, which excels in freshness of all its cakes and cookies, as well as in their exquisite taste. It was the best birthday cake I ever had - lemon cake and frosting - exactly what I wanted. Not too sweet - light and fluffy. Decorated so nicely. I have had their lemon fluff cakes for 25 years or more. Decided to order one for my mom's 81st birthday. What a disappointment. The cake was dry. No taste. It was such a disappointment since all the family were present (25 of us). Wondering if they are pre-making the cakes and freezing them because it was so taste-less. I grew up down the street from a great bakery and they closed about 15 years ago. When I walk into this bakery I am taken back to my childhood by the smells and lovely displays of pastries. Our delight as children 60 years ago was our often visit to Wolf's bakery with our Parents, Paul and Frances. As we walked thru the door the fragrances filled our noses and we knew we were in for a treat. Mrs Wolf would hand us a cellophane baggie with freshly made variety of cookies. Dad loved their yellow cakes with white icing and marble pound cakes, Mom's favorite were the danishes. Our family did not buy cakes anywhere else. We either made our own, which could not duplicate Wolf's, or bought Wolf's. Now that we live all over the country, whenever we visit Chicago, we must get a cake from wolf's. We even take them back home on the plane, to the glee of our children and grandchildren. I have called from the airport, asking please stay open so I could get two cakes for our weekend in Chicago. Our gift to friends and relatives in Milwaukee and Chicago is a Wolf's cake. Now they regularly get their baked goods from Wolf's. It would be a disaster for my diet if Wolf's were here in Las Vegas. Special ordered an 80th birthday cake (one week in advance and spent half an hour discussing decorations that should have been clear from the picture), complete with a picture, yet I didn't get what I wanted. Rather than apologize, somehow as the paying customer I'm made to feel the goof. I'm told too bad, the decorator is gone! But the girl did offer to let someone else work on it. If the "decorator" can't get it right, yeah let's just let anyone try their hand at it. I would have left that very expensive cake, but it is a hot humid August day and I'm on my way to the party to minimize this cake being in the heat. Plus a cake for a group isn't something you walk into a store and buy (perhaps Jewel....maybe I should have) Wolf's seems to think they are the only game in town and they are not. Between poor customer service, and the pricey options, I'm headed to other places. I am sure, despite my absolute displeasure at this transaction, and a request to have the owner call me, I'm sure I'll hear nothing further about it. If I do, I'll be more than happy to revise my review. read more
