My college-aged daughter who was in NC for school brought her CRV in because the Check Engine Light and a couple other indicator lights were on. She called to tell me that Womble ran a diagnosis and recommended an oil change and replacement of three parts related to the solenoid. They said this is a common problem with CRVs. My research suggested that issues with these parts could lead to engine knocking, reduced acceleration, reduced fuel efficiency, rough idling, etc. She was experiencing none of that, and that was conveyed to Womble. My research also suggested that solenoid issues are rare in CRVs, and solenoids can often last the life of the vehicle. I called my mechanic in Pittsburgh, and he said if the oil was low or contaminated, it could trigger the indicator lights, and he would start there before throwing three new parts at the problem. We had Womble do the oil change, but they also charged us over $150 for a diagnosis fee. It's been almost three weeks now, and my daughter has since driven the car 14 hours round-trip with no engine issues, and the indicator lights have not returned. I called Womble to request a refund on the diagnosis fee, which I believed to be unnecessary and excessive since a simple oil change fixed the problem. The owner told me he had documented that my daughter said the engine was making noise, even though I have a documented text exchange with her from that day where she specifically said there was no noise and that, other than the warning lights, the car seemed normal. Then the mechanic who worked on the car told me they "inferred a solenoid noise" based on what they were seeing (How in the world can one infer a noise?? It's either there or it isn't). When I asked for a refund on the diagnosis fee, I was told that they pay tens of thousands of dollars on diagnostic equipment, so they can't work for free, and that slavery was outlawed in the '60s (an ignorant, ill-informed comment that I found highly offensive). The mechanic said I was not remembering our original conversation correctly, but he remembers our white CRV clearly (the car is actually silver). I had my daughter choose this business because they generally had positive reviews online, but I feel she and I were taken advantage of. It is my opinion, and the opinion of my personal mechanic, that they could have determined in just a few minutes that the oil needed to be changed and recommended that we start there rather than incurring additional diagnostic fees. read more

It was a bit pricey, but the place had good reviews. I asked them to replace both headlights and they only replaced one of them which is the only thing they didn't get right. They were pleasant enough and let me know the price before starting the work. I'd go back there again. read more

My family was in the process of moving from Colorado to Raleigh NC and 60 miles from our house the transmission line decided to let go leaving us on the side of I-40. We had our unit SUV towed to Wimbledon Automobile and Jeff said he would give us a call in a few hours (we were traveling in 2 vehicles). He was able to diagnose the issue and repair it right away. I left my Jeep here this morning to have the front tire/rim looked at because of the accumulating brake dust on the rim. Jeff called me shortly thereafter and explained that the rim in question was stock and that the other rims were vented (he also showed them to me when I arrived). This is the first time in my life that a mechanic did not try to sell me something I didn't need. Jeff explained that the rim would continue to be a little dustier than the others but that I didn't need a new rim and the brake pads looked fine. If this had been the usual mechanic that I've been going to in VA for the past few years, I would've left today with new rims and brake pads and a hole in my wallet. TOTAL SCAMMERS!!!! DO NOT GO HERE. My son's car broke the day before he was driving to NY so he stopped in around noon in a panic. They said they would check it after lunch and were not sure if they would have time to fix it. We called several times at 2pm and they finally answered and said that if we wanted it fixed we needed to stop calling (but they never called to tell us what was wrong so we didn't know). I told them if they couldn't fix it I found another place available. Womble said to come get the car and have them fix it. They charged my son $200 and gave him a list of things wrong. The OTHER SERVICE STATION fixed it for $60, common problem, easy fix, in and out in 30 min. WHAT A SCAM AND RIPOFF!!! read more

I am glad I found an outstanding automotive repair shop close to home! I had a problem on my 350z with various oil leaks and it just needed some overall attention in various areas. They addressed all issues and went above and beyond what I asked for a fraction of what the dealership would have charged. I have always been told to be skeptical of repair shops but not this one. When I returned with the service engine light on, they checked it at no charge. It was totally not their fault and the issue was that a gas cap was missing. Jeff and his crew are the only people that will be working on our cars from now on! It's hard to find a shop that you can trust to do a good job and be fair & honest but we found it here! Took our Explorer in to have a clicking noise evaluated for problem, also the heat & defrost were inop. Jeff, who said he'd worked on Fords for about 13 years, listened and said it sounds like an actuator (no charge for the eval/diagnosis). He gave us a price to fix it and we agreed. Went to pick the car up the next day and the price was about $25 less than what he quoted! Yay! He could have charged us the quoted amount (which we had agreed to) but he didn't. Jeff was honest about the fees. We really appreciated that. He was also able to inspect the Explorer while we were there and I noticed my Mustang was due soon so he inspected it also. Both cars were there, he had some time to do it and it was convenient for us since we were there to pick up the Explorer anyway. Everybody in the shop was friendly and fun to talk with. Also, there was an elderly lady picking up a car and she told me Womble's is the only place she trusts and she'd been going there about 6 years. Based on a recommendation from a co-worker, we've now been taking our cars to Chester for going on 10 years. This is the best shop around, hands down. We moved to Greensboro years ago and still travel to Chester's for our service work. He is honest, kind and hard working! I trust him 100%. Here's one reason why: I took my SUV to the dealership for recall work. While there, the dealership told me I needed new brakes. I wouldn't let them touch them. Looked on Yelp and saw a review for this place and am I glad I stopped here for my repair. Couldn't have been a worse day for Chester at the business. One mechanic out sick and another mechanic out for a medical procedure. Did Chester tell me to take my business elsewhere or I would have to wait a few days? NO, Chester himself pulled the car into the shop and started work on it immediately. Chester's technical knowledge of automobiles is amazing. He diagnosed, fixed then tested the car. Turning what I thought was going to be a huge repair bill into an incredibly affordable fee, This is a truly family run business that treats their customers like family. There was a problem that they did not fix. First they charged for a part and that didn't fix the problem. Then, when I brought it back they replaced another part. That didn't fix it either. I took it to my daughter who is a mechanic in another state and she said the reason it didn't work was they replaced two wires and connected them backwards. I spent over $1000 on just that one item and it could have been fixed by hooking up the wires correctly. They also supposedly fixed a leak in the transmission. Now, I'm having my daughter fix it correctly. Don't go there. read more
