Interesting concept, been wanting to check it out so finally did. This to me is not a true "food hall." A true food hall is one that has different restaurants with their own spaces inside the building (think The Bourse or a smaller version of RTM). But I digress. I decided to drive down and place my order when I got there. The place itself is small and sterile, and you order at the little kiosk things. I decided to go with MS's Streetbird. I waited only around 10min and it was ready. I got a spicy sammich combo with mac/greens and also a side of slaw. The portions were very generous for the price (altogether paid less than $17). As you can see from my photos, the sandwich was a bit of a joke - it honestly looked like someone sat on it?? The bun was SO THIN I've never even seen a bun this thin before! Lettuce was completely soggy. The chicken itself was tasty but the sides were the real stars. The mac/greens were delicious and the slaw tasted very fresh! Overall, it was an ok experience. I will definitely give it another try in the future to check out some of the other restaurants on the list. read more

Checked out the Wonder Food Hall in Ardmore. I have been to the one in Fishtown so I was already familiar with some of the restaurants at this location. The Wonder chain has been blowing up everywhere in Pennsylvania. Similar to the Wonder in Fishtown, you have to order from an app that gives you the option to choose from several types of restaurants. I had a discount code but apparently it didn't work because it is only able to be used once in the Wonder chain. I ended up accidentally ordering my meal and it is basically impossible to cancel once it is ordered. The meals come out real quick leaving no room to change orders. The bot they utilize for customer service was less helpful. I literally had to call to speak to someone to cancel which took a longer time than it should have. The customer service lady did end up giving me a discount so I got some food from this location. Also, beware, they have options to order that aren't picked up at that location (which makes no sense to me). Like they have several restaurants in Center City to order from but you have to go to those locations to pick up. Food I got at Wonder: Hanu Poke- I had the build your own poke bowl. It was pretty amazing. It tasted better than the bowls I get at an actual Japanese restaurant. I liked the rice pearls and the amount of salmon/tuna in the bowl. I liked the quality of ingredients as well. Yasas by Michael Symon- I had a build your own bowl and the spiced sweet potato and kalamata sandwich. The build your own bowl was so healthy looking. I really liked how I could get bulgur and greens together. I wasn't just limited to rice. The pickled red onions were good and I enjoyed how they made the chicken souvlaki. The chicken pieces were so tasty. Tejas BBQ- I had the brisket, pork ribs, and carrot soufflé. The brisket and pork ribs were average. The brisket was definitely on the juicy end which was nice. It's a ghost kitchen that's less deceptive and more reliable than the average ghost kitchen while producing better food than most ghost kitchens. But at the end of the day, it's still a ghost kitchen. When I first saw that Wonder was opening it was a mixed reaction that ranged from still having remorse for the loss of the local art supply store that it replaced, to confusion when trying to comprehend how so many restaurants could possibly fit within this space, to disdain once I realized that it was going to be a ghost kitchen concept. Rather than summarize my reasoning for having mistrust towards Ghost Kitchens, I can link Eddy Burback's spot-on video about their often deceptive practices (https://youtu.be/KkIkymh5Ayg?si=az7byOYjxrvz8yy3). Despite this disdain, I was still curious and intrigued. After all, right off the bat, Wonder was a lot more transparent about what they were compared to other ghost kitchens. I was also even more intrigued when I realized that it was essentially Blue Apron partnering with chefs like Bobby Flay, Michael Symon, and Marcus Samuelson to serve their menus. And I appreciated their efforts to pay things forward to sustainable food organizations like City Harvest and Philabundance (https://www.wonder.com/mission), and their efforts to support and be involved with local events in the area. Combine these reasons with the many coupons that they dropped on people in the area upon opening, and I had good reason to check it out, and overall it was decent. Would I actively order from Bobby Flay Steak over seeking out a dining experience from a local steakhouse like DePaul's Table? Absolutely not, but I do like that they have multiple menu options at various price points. And down the line, I may pop back in and do reviews for some individual standouts like Hanu Poke, Yasas, and Streetbird. While Wonder might be a lot less deceptive than other ghost kitchen concepts, it doesn't mean that it isn't without its deceptions. When I ordered chicken wings from Streetbird during one visit, and some from Wing Trip on another, while the sauces on them might have been different, I was also able to confirm that the wings used were exactly the same. And I had a similar experience when I ordered cornbread from Streetbird and Tejas Barbecue. While this isn't to suggest that the product was terrible, it is also why I'd rather seek out wings from a local restaurant option instead.. There have also been a couple of other snafus in ordering, but to be fair, the helpful staff have been quick to rectify them, and the app has been generous about providing a $5 credit whenever I encountered an order being even a couple of minutes past the original ticket time. When it comes to my dining exploits, something like Wonder will NEVER replace my going to local restaurants for good food. But in a pinch, Wonder does provide a better and more diverse dining experience than most chains for takeout, especially when you come across a good promo code to use. And overall, it is a tolerable and less deceptive ghost kitchen, which is something that I NEVER thought I'd be able to say! read more

I visited this new location last night with a couple friends. We were excited to check it out. The space is bright and clean, and even though the concept is definitely centered on delivery and take-out, there is a small seating area with about half a dozen small tables if you want to dine in (although your order will packaged for take-out anyway by default). There's also a restroom and a fountain for cups of water. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and I was offered assistance when one employee noticed I was taking a while at the order touchscreen, but that was just because there were so many choices and I was a bit overwhelmed at first. The ordering process is organized by restaurant rather then food type, so it you're not familiar with the restaurants (I wasn't) it can take a fair amount of scrolling and clicking to get a true sense of all your options. We all ordered from different restaurant menus. I went with Limesalt for Mexican. I was disappointed. I got a make your own burrito bowl with brown rice, black beans, steak, corn salsa, cheese, and lime crema. It was just really, really bland. None of the components seemed to have any seasoning or actual flavor. No seasoning on the steak, no heat with the corn salsa, very little cheese, and I couldn't taste the lime crema at all. I was really hungry so I ate the entire thing, but it was a struggle to get through because it was just so tasteless. I also got chips and queso. The chips were very good - light, crispy, ample salt. But the queso was as bland as the burrito bowl. Just flavorless. One of my friends got a chicken sandwich and fries from Streetbird, and she liked it. Although she found the sandwich a bit difficult to eat as the chicken kept trying to slide out of the bun. My other friend ordered pasta from Walnut Lane. She thought it tasted good, but we all agreed that it seemed more like a $15 dish based on portion size than the $19 they charged. She also ordered a banana pudding from Magnolia Bakery that we all tried, and that was absolutely delicious and the highlight of the meal for me. It's a shame the food was so blah, because I think this is an amazing concept and has such potential. It is new, so I may give it a few months and try again. Tried the Newtown Square location and it was horrible. We ordered a Baby Burger or Burger Baby cheeseburger and it came with no cheese, was overcooked, and it must have sat for a long time before we picked it up because the bun, which looked a lot like a Ball Park bun, was hard as rock. We also ordered a $19 lamb shawarma and the meat was mostly fat and the portion was small. The dark chocolate brownie came in a package! When you read about this company and their mission, they make you think their chefs trained at all of these great restaurants and make everything fresh at their locations - then they gave us a packaged brownie! It's a reasonable place to go if you need a broad array of food types, but Ardmore has so many good restaurants I can't really see myself going here again. For each of the cuisines, there are 2-3 better local spots. Great location and a good variety of dishes. I initially thought this would be a traditional food hall with a variety of stand alone stalls, but it seems to actually be one kitchen serving different cuisines under various restaurant names. You can order on the app which works much like the Uber Eats app, or you can order in store on the iPad. The service is extremely friendly and the interior is very cute, although a bit small. It seems they're more geared towards take out orders than dining in. I had the Mediterranean bowl which was pretty similar to cava. I will say the rice ratio was off for me and I wish there was more rice. However, the portions for everything else was very generous in the bowl. I also ordered chips and queso but was given a second pita bread labelled queso? Wish I got to try the queso but I didn't notice until I had already gotten home. For my bowl I tried the green goddess dressing which was very lemon forward. To be honest, a lot of their sauces tasted similar to me from the lemon Caesar to the green goddess to the tzatziki. Two of my friends ordered Mediterranean bowls and salads respectively and both said their chicken was very rubbery so I would avoid. Overall a decent quick lunch with multiple options for when the group can't decide on one cuisine, but definitely more of a fast casual level of quality. We received a flyer in the mail plus saw ads on social media. We decided to give it a try. There are a few tables and a few people eating at the tables. Otherwise, most tables had people waiting for their orders. It's overwhelming how many menus and options there are. Once we looked through the physical menus, we placed our orders at the kiosk. We chose the Streetbird fried chicken sandwich and slaw as well as the Tejas Barbecue classic brisket sandwich and potato salad. Initially we were going to eat there but no one was cleaning the tables. Not that they were dirty but they didn't seem clean with people sitting at them while waiting. The food was ok. My husband thinks it's great if you have a group of people who can't agree on a single restaurant since there are so many options. If we try Wonder again, we'll order online and then pickup. It's on Lancaster Ave so there's only street meter parking in front. Fast food that is reheated. I thought all ingredients were locally sourced and this could be a cool concept but it is not that at all.

First off, I'd like to highlight Beth! She has such a great spirit and welcoming personality!! She explained the entire concept of the "Food Hall" to me and my wife, which made ordering pretty easy. I had a burrito from Lime Salt. It was a build your own so I made it with chicken, queso, rice, veggies, lettuce, and crema. I can say it had 80% rice, 10% veggies, 5% chicken, 5% queso and none of the other ingredients. It was basically a rice burrito. It was very dry and not mixed well at all. I live in NYC and order from Sri Pra Phai in Woodside all the time. In town visiting my parents so we ordered from Newtown Square. The food was nothing like the Sri Pra Phai restaurant. Drunken noodles were not remotely the same. Massaman curry was too strong, way too much curry paste for the amount of coconut milk. Has to thin it out with more coconut milk to eat it. It's all right. You get pretty good food for the price of very good food. Di Fara: It's NY style and has some crust char, but the quality isn't remotely close to the actual Di Fara's in Brooklyn. It's not bad as far as NY style pizza in the area goes, but don't think you're getting a taste of Brooklyn here. The lack of quality makes me suspect that the other name brands are quality in name only (e.g. Bobby Flay, Marcus Samuelson). Fred's Meat and Bread: Had a pretty good cheesesteak here. Not any better or worse than any other good cheesesteak in the area. A bit small for the price. Limesalt: It's hardly west coast or Texas quality, but for the area, pretty good. I'd actually come back. Now, it may be the case that Wonder is catering to situations where you want to order in, but one person is in the mood for Mexican, another for a burger, etc. In that case, this place is great. But if you know what you want and can get it all from one restaurant, this probably isn't where you want to turn, given that the area already has good options for each of the cuisines represented here (except Mexican!) Wonder is in a fabulous location in the heart of Ardmore. I live relatively close by and was excited about the new addition to the local businesses. I got a coupon for takeout in the mail and decided it was time to give it a shot. Me and my partner ordered from Burger Baby. Unfortunately, the burgers tasted like nothing. I mean that literally. I don't think they were seasoned at all. I tried the ground beef by itself to make sure I was being objective. Nothing. Basically a hockey puck and actually one of the worst burgers I've ever had. The fries were tastier, but extremely underdone. I wont lie, I'll never order from Burger Baby again, but my meal ended up being refunded which I appreciate, so maybe I'll try again someday from another vendor and have the opportunity to update this review. The quality of the food is akin to what's served while flying on a transatlantic flight in economy plus and the concept of the place seems like it would be a skit on SNL. The speed of delivery was impressive but I am still not quite sure what the point of this place is. There are so many great local places on the Mainline that deserve support for great food. The food was awful. Fast food reheated. Seven people ordered and each meal was awful. I ordered from Streetbird. I had the deluxe chicken sandwich. The roll was a thin, flat piece of bread. Lettuce soggy, so much dressing on the sandwich it spilled out everywhere. It was difficult to eat as all the food on the so called "roll" slide every which way and I finally had to use a fork and knife to eat a chicken sandwich. The fries were rubbery, lukewarm and soggy. There was some cabbage in the vinegar that was passed off as slaw. This place is a scam. As I said before seven people ordered and all or part of their meals were tossed. We ordered from SRIPRAPHAI (THAI Food). I got the Panang Chicken Curry. The veggies weren't fresh and the chicken was terrible, tasteless and dry. The sauce flavor was okay. My son had the Basil Fried Rice with beef- it had mushy rice, the veggies were not good and the beef was terrible, there were big flat pieces of boiled beef like you get in Pho. It's not the staff or even the management's fault- im sure they're Just following the protocols of the Wonder business model. I should have been alarmed when 5 minutes after placing my order online it was already "ready for pickup". I got the Fred's Meat & Cheese double stacked burger and fries. The burger patties actually tasted like they were thawed & microwaved (which is im sure exactly what happened) and the fries were terrible- I only managed to eat about a third of them. I was excited to try Wonder because I thought it sounded interesting, but frankly I wouldn't rush back. I used a 50% off coupon and I still felt i was overcharged for what I got, lol.
