We were very disappointed in the way we were treated by this company. They were referred to us by a…read morevery reputable company, and so we felt we were in good hands. We were mistaken. We had a very large spruce tree that had died located near the curb and close to PSEG electrical wires. We called La May for an estimate to remove the tree, cart away the debris, and grind the stump. We were given an estimate. We discussed with LaMay the possibility of PSEG cutting the tree to below the wire line, and LaMay completing the job. Well, PSEG did come, spent two hours cutting the tree below the power line and left the debris on our lawn and that of our neighbor. I notified LaMay that PSEG had cut the tree and left the debris and requested they come to complete the job - cut the trunk of the tree, cart the debris, and grind the stump. I was assured that the original estimate would be modified because PSEG did a big part of the job. Well, it wasn't! LaMay did not like the way PSEG left the debris! They were hoping to sell part of our tree as a telephone pole and now they couldn't! They claimed they sent me a new estimate, which I never received. LaMay did come and competently removed the debris and cut the remainder of the tree trunk. BUT they wanted us to pay the original estimate even though 1/3 of the job was completed by PSEG. After arguing with La May repeatedly, we reluctantly agreed on a price. Rather than accept 2/3 of the original estimate, they wanted more. Will never do business with this company again.

0 Star I would…read morestrongly recommend being careful with this company. My experience with KD Tree Services was extremely disappointing. They came out to my property, looked at the work that needed to be done, and gave me a price quote. Based on that quote, I agreed to have them do the job. We were under the impression that everything was agreed upon and that they were coming to complete the work. When the father came to start the job, his attitude was completely different. He was dismissive and disrespectful and basically told me that they were not going to do the job for the price they had originally quoted me and other work to get to. If you give a customer a quote after seeing the job in person, that price should mean something. If the company changes its mind about the price when they're ready to start, that's something that should be communicated professionally--not handled with an attitude after the customer has already agreed to move forward. My issue isn't simply about the price. It's about honoring the quote, communication, and treating customers with respect. Watch out and make sure you get everything in writing before agreeing to anything with KD Tree Services. I personally will not be using them.

When Carlo the owner came by to give us the estimate he pointed out a tree that had started rotting and suggested that was a tree that should be removed. When his men removed the tree they showed me the very large rotted area internally going up the trunk. Pedro his climber was so professional at his job and didn't hesitate to ask what we wanted cut and also made some very good suggestions. The entire crew worked in unison. Watching them work was a pleasure for my wife and I. What i truly appreciated was the fact that they all actually worked together. Not sure if it's a language barrier or a problem with their practice. It ended up becoming a "he said she said" scenario and we paid for more than we thought we were getting. Jokes on me for not getting an invoice in writing before paying them. I feel even more duped because they did some upselling once they came for the estimate. I took their word for it that it would be beneficial even if not necessary because we had them work with us before. I stupidly assumed they care about nurturing this business relationship. Needless to say, they did not offer a remedy for the miscommunication - no partial refund, no discount for future work, etc. Maybe they have too much business to be bothered?

K & D came in much lower than the other 2 quotes I had received and my neighbor opted to just have the trees removed due to the low cost. I booked a date for the removal only a few days in advance and the crew showed up on time and got to work. A fence panel had to be removed from my neighbor's fence, as one of the trees was located in the back yard, and the crew removed and replaced the panel without damaging it at all. They ground out the stumps and cleaned up everything very nicely. I was honestly a little worried about the quality of work that we would receive based on such a low quote, but was very pleasantly surprised when it was all said and done. I would absolutely recommend K & D to anyone needing this kind of work done.
