If you are ever in this area, you definitely have to try their selection of marshmallows! I picked up a box of strawberry and it was amazing! It was soft and gooey and just sweet enough. I don't think I could look at a store bought bag the same ever again knowing I have tried these. The also offer several vegan ice cream flavors in their line up which I absolutely love. GUYS! I had a bourbon-flavored homemade marshmallow roasted and handed to me on a graham cracker with a square of dark chocolate. IT WAS EVERYTHING! Wondermade is a cute little shop right on the main strip in downtown Sanford where you can get handmade marshmallows in a variety of flavors (depending on the day). They also have homemade ice cream in an array of interesting flavors. When I was there, they were featuring their cornbread ice cream which was surprisingly delicious. The girl that was working there this evening was adorable and sweet and let us sample some of their unique flavors of ice cream. Such a cute little shop! Ok, so here's the deal. This is a cool and unique idea! Homemade marshmallows are a fun treat and the concept isn't anything I've ever seen. But here are some problems I see, and hopefully the owners read these things and take it into consideration. The shop almost always looks closed or empty. The inside is nice, however the walls are stark bare. I would love to see Wondermade use some of the photos I've seen them post on Facebook, blow them up really big (like close-up's of marshmallow, etc.) and either have them made to wall canvas or matted & framed. They need some serious decor. My neighbor went today and it was her first time. She told me it looked like they are just moving in or something. Fill up the walls with some of your own shots using a vintage filter to give it that "Wondermade" feel. Next, add something more flashy outside the door when you're open. Some colorful balloons tied to a good-sized hot air balloon statue or something. People don't know you guys exist with the way you've got it going now. Marketing needs work to draw in customers. Granted, this isn't my business, but I'm going to guess that the way Wondermade stays in business is probably 85% online orders. I can't imagine what they are paying in rent, and it's a shame when the place has never looked crowded. Why aren't you guys saving your money and doing an online store only, or even doing the Farmers Market on Saturdays and getting rid of your overhead? It's bizarre. I'd hate to see this business crash and burn because it's such a cute concept. But I can't fathom how much longer it can be successful in Downtown Sanford without more street revenue. You NEED customers coming in off the street. Which brings me to another point.. Is it so amazing that I would literally leave my home and drive down to Sanford (I'm 10 mins away) to grab an almost $3 s'more? No. I would not. I'm not sure how many customers they could possibly have that love it so much they crave it and head down there. What you are getting for the $ isn't much and it's possibly overpriced. The boxes are adorable which could be why there is a markup on price, or maybe it's the rent. Either way, we need more product or more WOW factor. Again, most of their clientele HAVE to be random walk-ins or online sales. Neighbor goes today and comes back with not-so-great reviews. She tells me that there was no menu in sight. Nothing but packaging boxes, and the young girl behind the counter isn't very helpful either. Guys, put a nice menu up on the wall. Something that looks cool. Just do it. And include the pricing. That's a major turn off and it makes it look like you're hiding the price because you don't want to turn people away (meaning, it's overpriced for what you are getting.) She didn't leave impressed. My last suggestion would be that they blast this thing out of the water if they truly intend on becoming the next most popular shop down there across from the Willow Tree. Marshmallows alone aren't cutting it. Can you throw in some other fresh, homemade candy? Caramels?? Chocolates?? Taffy??? Something that brings that sweet candy smell out into the street. I know they brought in a little ice cream thing but I really feel like that's not going to get the job done. Wonderworks is unique, as I mentioned before, but it's obviously not unique enough to have people lining up out the door. I sound critical, but it's just truth. I hope they succeed and become an awesome attraction in Sanford, but I also hope they take the advice of the patrons who will be bringing in the cash flow! read more

This place has been popping up on my radar for months! I wanted to see what Wondermade was all about so we stopped in today after a big lunch at Hollerbach's. First off, this place has a really cute decor that is minimalist in a rustic kind of why. I love it! They had a handful of marshmallow flavors to choose from like Sugar Cookies, Bourbon, Gin, Peppermint, Fireball, etc that were both pre-packaged and those that were in cute little glass jars to be served up the way they are or on a skewer of thee and then torched for you! I choose to try out Peppermint, Sugar Cookie & Fireball torched in a skewer. They were amazing! What an amazing dessert! I seriously recommend popping in and trying out a skewer and grabbing a box of your favorite. Hopefully I like the box of bourbon ones as much as I loved the Fireball ones! I first experienced their marshmallows last summer when I purchased some from a local Northern Michigan market. When I discovered they are based in Florida, not far from my winter home, I had to visit. Their marshmallows are truly the best! I love the small bite sized bits and the variety of flavors are so much fun to enjoy. Mint chocolate is my personal favorite. They make a great gift for kids as well as adults. We were in Sanford for the Love Your Shorts Film Festival and came across the Wondermade Cafe. We had some ice cream and then I spotted the marshmallow skewers! They were DELISH!! I wanted to eat them every day!!! The staff were super nice and helpful. We were gifted a $50 gift card 8 months ago and when we went into use it they claimed that they are no longer accepting these gift cards, even though there is no expiration date on the card. If you're going to sell gift cards, you should either set an expiration date, or carry over everyone that bought the old gift cards. I first found out about Wondermade from the Orlando Blogger Meetup a few weeks back. The rep told me that one the first Friday of every month they host a workshop, during which you get to decorate your own marshmallows and really learn the process of creating their artisan marshmallows! Tickets to the workshop are $15 each, which includes unlimited coffee, hot chocolate, soda, and treats. Upon arriving for the workshop - Jack and I were offered coffee, none other than delicious Lineage coffee (see a few posts back for my experience with Lineage Roasting Coffee + Yelp's #OrlandoMade)! We were offered endless samples of some great flavors of marshmallows, strawberry, 24k gold Champagne, bourbon, Guinness, honey, Irish cream, and Irish coffee. I sampled one of each - all delicious, my favorite being Honey. Marshmallows were followed by strawberry rice crispy treats - yumm! After getting our sugar high on - the group of 12 people headed into the kitchen to see were the magic happens. We were giving a quick breakdown of how Wondermade came to be and then brought to stations to cut and decorate our own marshmallows. Both Jack & I selected the strawberry marshmallows to decorate. After the 1.5 hour workshop we left belly's full of sweet treats, and what seemed like pounds of our decorated marshmallows! We had a great time and cant wait to visit Wondermade again! P.s. You can get a cup of divine Lineage coffee and 2 marshmallows for under $3! If you are in central Florida, Wondermade is definitely worth a trip! read more

Sooo I was in the area for another event and remembered Wondermade was there! Just don't count on Maps to get you there.... it kept putting me about 5 stores down that was closed down. I happened to look around and walk down and some more and was like THERE YOU ARE! A employee was outside giving tastings away and making smore's. My son wanted one so I purchased one and he sat inside and chowed down. There were about 2 other flavors we were able to try and I ended up purchasing several boxes. Ask if there are any specials as the day I was in it was purchase so many and got one for free. There are so many different flavors and they are all delicious! Definitely try it out!! read more

The decor is adorable and bright, staff is friendly, the ice cream has both traditional and quirky flavors, and the marshmallows are tasty. As long as you don't mind the odd hours (sometimes they close at 5pm which is weird to me), and the teeny tiny spoons...it's a little bit of adorable that you should visit at least once. read more

I attended the Wondermade Workshop, where locals were invited to "tour the Wondermade kitchen, enjoy drinks and treats, have a Q&A session with an official marshmallow agent and learn to cut and decorate your very own marshmallows". I enjoyed the tour and the owners and staff were very friendly, and the workshop was a fun hands-on way to learn more about how Wondermade's creation process works. A few points of constructive criticism for future workshops: - I found the shop to be a little bit hot, so that kept us from ordering any coffee or hot chocolate. - With only having 4 tables available there was no seating for many of the guests of the event. It's understandable with the small shop space that you would only have a small amount of tables, but perhaps putting out more chairs along the walls would make it easier to accommodate a larger amount of people for these events? - For busier normal business days, perhaps a bar along the wall (you already had a couple of nice red stools that you could use) and outside seating would be a nice addition. - The decorating part of the tour had a couple drawbacks that could easily be remedied (lose the cookie cutters, they were a cute idea in theory but very hard to use in practice; provide tiny spoons for marshmallow toppings like sprinkles, pretzels and sugar instead of promoting that people use their hands, etc.). Overall the event was fun, informative and gave us a good chance to view their new shop and taste their creations. Wondermade is a great addition to downtown Sanford and I hope that they continue to do well both locally and with their online sales. read more

It's no wonder Wondermade has been included in several "best of" and gift guide lists: This gourmet marshmallow shop is the perfect place to enjoy the sweet end to a date night, take the kids for a well-deserved treat, or show out-of-town guests one of Central Florida's many jewels. One taste of a 'mallow here and you'll never want the store-bought variety made with additives and artificial ingredients. There are many treats available on a regular basis, with seasonal offerings that fit the weather and holidays: - For a classic Wondermade experience, get a s'more with the day's flavors and milk or dark chocolate (they offer only certain flavors for in-store treats each day, but there are plenty of options. Their packaged marshmallows are available in all flavors that they currently have in stock). Or for something extra special, get one of their gourmet s'mores with extra toppings and special grahams. We always ask them to melt the chocolate a little for us before they assemble the s'more. - In the summer, their s'mores ice cream hits the spot and has a marshmallow in almost every bite. They also offer coconut-based ice cream flavors for those who can't eat dairy (make sure you ask about food prep techniques if you have a true allergy, as I can't speak to how they make and serve the dairy free ice cream). - Don't miss out on seasonal pops, sandwiches, and new marshmallow flavors. The peppermint flavor is delicious in a cup of hot cocoa on Christmas morning, and a pumpkin mallow broiled and served on a graham cracker is reminiscent of pumpkin pie. - The prepackaged marshmallows make a wonderful gift for special holidays, birthdays, or if you're staying at someone's home in another town. We always gift them with the recommendation to eat them on an open-faced s'mores made in the oven (graham cracker, chocolate and 'mallow on top, broiled until the 'mallow is just golden). Or chop them up straight out of the box to mix into your favorite ice cream. - They offer online orders and occasionally have special offers around holidays. Watch their social media channels if you're interested. - Their owner, Nathan, has an interesting Ted Talk about how he and his wife started making mallows and eventually opened shop. We recommend watching it to get the background story. The prices are a little higher than your corporate chain ice cream shop, but the quality of ingredients is higher, their offerings are unique, and it's a local business. We've watched Wondermade grow and expand since discovering the shop four years ago, and with the owners' inventiveness, it's sure to be a sweet spot for generations of Central Floridians to come. read more

Best ice cream I've ever had! No joke. Just tried the chocolate orange (from locally squeezed oranges) and it may be my new favorite but I still love the maple bacon, peanut butter cup, lavender, cornbread and avocado flavors. They also sell their marshmallows and flavored hot chocolate mix. And they have a real (not fold out) changing station in the bathroom. I'm impressed!!! Four of us visited the Wondermade Ice Cream store on Sunday in Sanford. We went in specifically for the advertised Smores ice cream popsicle. According to our server, they haven't had the product in some time. We were disappointed but we decided to try some ice cream instead. Each of us ordered different flavors in a small cup. All of us had the same experience. The ice cream was dry and had a very strange texture. We noticed that it does not melt like normal ice cream. My wife's throat got very scratchy and she stopped eating hers. My sister was not at all happy with hers and tried my wife's to see if it was different than hers. It was not. Mine immediately made my stomach a little queasy. My brothers had very little flavor and he ate very little. The server was very busy with other customers, so we left without saying anything to her. I called the corporate office on Monday and left a message, asking them to call me. I have not received a call as of midday Wednesday, and that is why I am writing this review. I rarely give any establishment a negative review, this will be my first in a very long time. read more

Their ice cream is nothing to write home about and is overpriced. The employees are very nice, which is why it has 3 stars. Marshmallows smell fantastic and these tasted as good as they smelled! Unfortunately you had to buy boxes of individual flavors as they would commingle on one another. My boyfriend and I came in here after reading the reviews and I have to say I'm glad we did. At first I was a little hesitant because the decor isn't all that great but as soon as I saw they had FOUR vegan flavors I was immediately excited. I got the vegan caramelized banana and chocolate chunk ice cream and my boy friend got the sweet cornbread ice cream. Both of which were amazing. The vegan banana ice cream tasted like real bananas and not the fake banana flavor that so many banana ice cream flavors have.
