She was knowledgeable about starting a small business with an LLC, so I will give her that, but after working with her more, my husband and I have decided she's just not what our business is looking for, especially since we are now growing. We were happy with her service in the start but overtime it was just not up to par. Yes, she can advise on how to start an LLC on our own and do our tax returns, but that is it. If you are looking for someone to help you plan ahead for your business for tax strategies and tax planning, this may not be the place. We only ever heard from her for our returns and that was it. Upon going with another company, we also discovered some forms we did not file but were supposed to, which Kara did not inform us of. For tax returns, there is a portal to download your documents, but there is no "list" or things that we should consider uploading, so it can be a lot of back and forth on- send your expenses, send your mortgage, send this and that or cannot finalize return, etc. It just seems unorganized and if you're dreading taxes, this will make it worse. I also had a return for a different state in 2022 that was not filed (unsure why a different company omitted it). However, I decided to do it independently since Kara mentioned there would be a nominal fee if she did it because she does not know about another state's filing regulations. I asked the previous accounting company if it would cause any problems since it was omitted, and they said it would be ok since the IRS has a matching system and will send us a notification if anything was excluded so we could wait for that. Upon getting the notification, we can decide whether to make an amendment. Kara failed to mention that part. We felt she just wanted us to spend more money to have her do it or something. We moved from MY Personal CPA to her because yearly we would get a different tax preparer so we thought if we went with a smaller company (First Choice Accounting) we would get more personalized help but going with a one person team means getting emails at odd times like late at night and getting missed. Also, even though I did not go with Kara submitting my out of state return, I got charged a one-time $150 fee for Kara reviewing the 2022 tax return which I was not aware of. She was not upfront about the fact that there would be a charge when she asked if I could send her my 2022 return so she could look at it to figure out why the other state W2 was omitted. When I brought up that I was not expecting a charge, she did not reply to me. Finally, she always apologizes for responding late. Her cat got spayed, stayed up late, and was busy. You call her, and she doesn't pick up, but she will reply via email which increases more of the back and forth. This pretty much sums up why we are going with someone else even if we have to pay $400 to part from her since she said she already worked on our return even though she was still asking for documents and more clarification.

She was thorough with her filing of my tax & helped me through a lot of forms/things I was not aware of for filing as a 1099 contractor, as well as with multiple W2s.

This year has been yet another example of what his knowledge and experience can do for me. This has been the best return I've had yet and it keeps getting better every year. I can also give a big Thanks to President Trump for no tax on OT! It's Real! I tell my family, friends, and co-workers about my experience here at RP Tax Service all the time. I think everyone should know about Robert and RP Tax Service and see what's possible for you. Thank You Robert for all that you do for me and our community! See you next year! I truly recommend this business! Aloha and God Bless Robert Berasis

CAUTION: RP Tax Service - Cannot Recommend…read more I am not a current client of RP Tax Service but I requested help from them with tax preparation and a more urgent tax planning project. Note that are three (3) comments on the Yelp website under their RP Tax Service name that are very similar to my complaint that is shown below. (See "Ask The Community" section for those comments on the RP Tax Service page on the Yelp website.) Attempts were made on August 4, 2026, August 5, 2026 and August 20, 2026 to connect with RP Tax Service: 1.) NOT ONCE did anyone pick up the phone when I called at different times on different days. 2.) My telephone number and email address were provided with EVERY voicemail I left and EVERY message I sent. 3.) As of the date of this review, voicemails left and messages sent requesting a response have still NEVER been responded. Not a one. 4.) I also requested a courtesy response from RP Tax Service even if they were not accepting new clients so I would know asap to begin looking elsewhere for help. Even that request as easy and fast as it could be, was ignored by RP Tax Service. 5.) Additionally, today's advanced technology permits a.) pop-up messages or flags to be placed very visibly on websites; and b.) automated messages to be composed and sent as responses, both of which can serve to inform people of the following: 1.) Intentions or abiliity to respond; 2.) Accepting new clients or not; and 3.) The existence of response delays and explanations for them. It is disturbing and puzzling that I saw NONE of this on the RP Tax Service website. Of course, the RP Tax Service website includes all the usual boastful, sentimental and pretty language stating how great they are and how devoted they are to customer oriented service. Big deal! So what! Anybody can talk the talk but walking the walk is what counts. Actions are what matters. Please note: 1.) I check my email spam folder 2-3 times per day. The spam setting is set up to ONLY delete messages that are 30 days old. 2.) My voicemail setting is set up to show all calls AND attempted calls even if no voicemail is left. So what do we have here? What should I, and what should you, the reader of this review of mine, make of this experience of mine? What impressions should be drawn from what I write here? RP Tax Service: Lack of professionalism Lack of basic, common reasonable courtesy Lack of a conscientiousness, caring & concerned attitude Lack of organizational skills & management Lack of time management skills Lack of adequate staff Lack of cutting edge technology Are these fair and reasonable conclusions? Tax preparation, tax concerns, IRS problems and issues, and accounting all require tax firms to possess timeliness, effective technology, proper communication and responsiveness AND NOT LACKING in any of the skills and qualities that I mentioned directly above. Am I wrong? Please keep in mind and don't lose sight of these facts: 1.) RP Tax Service can just as easily fail you as they failed me, client or not. Given my ridiculous and unacceptable experience, what do you think the odds are that RP Tax Service will also fail you? Is the gamble worth your hard earned money and potential IRS problems and fines? 2.) If and when RP Tax Service responds to this review: Please ask yourself if the RP Tax Service response adequately justifies their failure to respond to me and more importantly, does it provide you confidence that you won't also suffer the same experience as me at some point when working with RP Tax Service? As an example, if RP Tax Service mentions any reason that's related to the skills and qualities I mentioned above, what changes have RP Tax Service now made to ensure their failure with me, doesn't ever happen again with you? 3.) So even if you and I are convinced that RP Tax Service may be lacking in professionalism, basic, common reasonable courtesy, a conscientiousness, caring & concerned attitude, organizational skills & management, time management skills, adequate staff, and cutting edge technology, and choose not to take any financial risks you don't have to, both you and I have alternatives. Yes, yes we do. There are so very many competent and caring tax professionals out there and as an example many on Yelp with outstanding customer reviews praising and complimenting them. There's way too much quality competition out there for any one of us, to have to settle. I have a list of many highly recognized tax professional organizations to reach out to for my critically important tax needs. So I can easily cross RP Tax Service off my list, never look back and contact many others worthy of my consideration. Why couldn't you do the same? Why wouldn't you do the same?

Sadly he was no longer actively running it so we got the hand off to the kid. It started with some up front dialogue on getting started; jump on his portal for communications, uploads etc, add then to approving him for access banking, GET taxes and some other areas. All the typical new CPA working so fun prep steps. Then comes the long long gap of communications. To be exact zero replies on multiple emails requesting support and guidance on his own portal. When monthly GET was due we had no trust it was being handled, as it was not. So we paid it ourselves then emailing, reaching out but again Reyn decided to do it last minute without telling us. So now we've paid twice. Weeks months pass and more zero contact we are running our business not thinking about it which is sole purpose of this relationship from start as an owner my plate is overflowing with to do's, until another month the two and more lack of transparency lack of replies to countless messages about credit cards Quickbooks and so on. Terrible management. Now knee deep into mid year and no trust this guy has done a single thing for us (as had not) since double paying our GET. Sadly we are now back to square one and bookkeeping backed up so so much more. It's sad to feel this was so frustrated with a CPA. Especially of which was referred from a local and respected banker back in the day who knew his father personally. I suggest stay far from this CPA. Sometimes hard work and building a business from scratch you respect your clients you communicate with your valuable clients, not ignore them. Pick up a phone Reyn make a phone call. Reply when a letter has been written to you. Take responsibility. Well that's where entitlement comes in in our eyes with Reyn. He likely has no idea what it takes to build something from scratch and all the hard work to do so. If he did he'd know the importance of transparency and good communications.
