Chicken sandwich, tenders a burrito, fries and a pudding. I got the 3 tenders and slice of bread. Spice level mild. Great portions. My chicken was hot, fresh and succulent. Well seasoned and flavorful. $13 or so. No fries. Service was fast and the restaurant is clean. I love Nashville hot chicken. And this place didn't disappoint. I saw they have other locations. My friend recommend this place years ago but I've just never been near by. Luckily I was hanging out with some friends so we decided to go. Love that they have so many spice levels to choose from. I asked for the medium level and honestly it could be considered spicy to some. So if you're sensitive maybe go one lower than you think. The flavor is more than just spice though. Wooboi! New fan of their hot, spicy, juicy fried chicken. Not as crispy-crunchy as my all-time fave Roaming Rooster, but that's OK: I'm here to test out their spice levels. For context, I regularly enjoy spicy food: always top my pizza with crushed red pepper flakes, eat deli sandwiches with a layer of pickled jalapeños or banana peppers, and generally order medium-to-spicy levels for Thai, Chinese, and other cuisines. But I'm not one of those ghost pepper extremists, so I hesitated to try Wooboi's Code Red or Blue on my first visit and ordered Level 3 (Hot). Let me be clear: Level 3 is spicy, but I was proud of myself and ate the whole thing with no drama. It's got a little delayed effect and will make your tummy feel warm the rest of the day. Overall, a delicious spicy sandwich I'd make another trip to Alexandria for. I will be brave and try Code Red next. The piece of chicken they put on this sandwich is huge, it eclipses the potato bun and then some! Dining room is pretty standard for a quick service joint. It's clean and well lit. Not much more to say. Waffle fries are a very standard frozen product with that starchy coating (not anyone's favorite). Had a delightful early dinner at WOOBOI Hot Chicken and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Located in north Old Town Alexandria less than 30 minutes from downtown DC, this spot had great reviews and was not super crowded when we arrived around 5:45. We ordered a level one chicken sandwich each with added cheese and slaw on the side, as well as the waffle fries. Our food was out within ten minutes and was super tasty and fresh. The chicken sandwich has pickles, the slaw, a mayo based sauce which I asked for on the side, and the chicken breast. Despite being breast, rather than thigh, the chicken was tender and moist. The coating was excellent and the spice level one (not spicy at all, so don't worry if you choose this one) was smoky and well seasoned. Next time, I aim to try the spice level two or three. The fries were also seasoned at that level and were perfectly crispy and quite large. The sauce was not remarkable in terms of flavor and is there more to provide contrast between the crispy chicken, the crunchy slaw, and the bun. The bun itself was top tier; not only had the cheese melted into the top bun to form a soft upper layer on the toasty bread, but the bottom bun took on a lot of the flavor coating the chicken and was a highlight of the meal. Between two people, one order of fries is probably sufficient. The slaw is also apple cider vinegar based, not mayo based, which is a rare treat and was super tasty and refreshing. And it is attractively priced for the size and the area in which it resides (which is to say overpriced, but on par with everything else that is overpriced in this area). If you're not careful, you are going to feel the WOOOOOO for quite some time afterward as well. Those heat levels printed on the wall are not just for show, nor are they understated. Consider with great care if you want to go above a 3 on your first visit. I am someone who likes things pretty spicy, but flavorful. I don't want heat just for heat's sake. A 3 would be plenty for me, so until you can set your personal barometer here, I'd suggest not going too hard too fast. Food was great. They give out big portions of food. Chicken was good. Not as crunchy as other places like Popeyes or kfc but it was breaded and fried very nicely. The place was very clean and organized. They sell bottled drinks, in case people worry about the cleanliness of a fountain dispenser. They also provide water via a filtered dispenser. Yummy! How have we missed this place. We were on our way to the boat show a week ago and stopped in for dinner. The setup is kind of weird inside with a large island in the center for trash and a tiny counter but that didn't take away from the delicious food we got! I'll start with my toddler daughter who got the chicken and waffles. They were fresh and yummy. The chicken on all the dishes were on point. There is no kids menu but we enjoy the leftovers. I've been to a lot of chicken places back home, and in terms of the taste this is right up there. As usual, they have several levels of heat to choose from. Very fresh and juicy chicken paired with a nice dipping sauce. The sandwich is a good size too. The picture I took hid the toppings, but it had some. The one thing that falls short to the others I've seen is the lack of options. Many of the menu items are pretty similar varying by a topping or two, but my go-to restaurant also offered mac-n-cheese, fries, and rice combos (both standalone and with chicken + toppings). With that said, this place is still a great spot for a chicken sandwich. Also note, I usually get the sandwiches with no heat, so can't speak for that. Known for their digestive system disruptive Code Blue chicken sandwiches, this review covers the flavors of the sauces and dishes instead of the self-torture. Is the chicken really tasty? No! The sandwiches? Yes! They use white meat chicken filets that are big, thick, and moistened with brine. The filets have a plain chicken flavor with a hint of salt water. Since the filet is big, this plain flavor makes up a good part of the flavor in their dishes. With that in mind, let's see where the flavors are coming from. They have 6 spice levels. The heat comes from chile powders, applied twice. First, it is added to their Love sauce, which the cooked chicken is dipped in. Then, the powder is dusted onto the sauce coated chicken. The ingredients listed are the ones that contribute to the heat. Many other ingredients make up the flavor profile of their Love sauce, such as salt, sugar, onion powder, spices, etc. 1) Classic has no heat. 2) Level 1 is paprika and mild cayenne. 3) Level 2 is jalapeño and hot cayenne. It's about 100,000 Scoville heat units (SHU). 4) Level 3 is habanero pepper and mitmita powder. It's about 300,000 SHU. Mitmita is an Ethiopian spice blend of bird's eye chile, salt, cardamom, cloves, and other seasonings. 5) Code Red has ghost pepper, mitmita, and berbere. It's about 1 million SHU. Berbere is an Ethiopian spice blend of fenugreek, ginger, and red chile pepper with warm spices. 6) Code Blue has Carolina reaper pepper, Trinidad scorpion pepper, ghost pepper, mitmita, and berbere. It's about 2 million SHU. Orders are placed on a kiosk. They have 2 kiosks located in front of the wall menu. The wall menu doesn't list everything that they have. Their sauce descriptions were useless, so I wrote descriptions down below for the 4 sauces that we got. We bought 3 dishes. 1) Sando sandwich Breaded chicken breast filet, ciderslaw, butter pickles, and comeback sauce in a potato bun with 2 choices of sauce. We got this at Level 1. It wasn't hot. The sandwich was large (5.5 inches in diameter). The chicken was moist and tender with a typical white meat flavor and a hint of brine. The thin, crispy coating was well-seasoned with a touch of spiciness. The bun was soft and moist with a typical flavor. The ciderslaw had cabbage, red onions, vinegar, salt, sugar, and seasonings. It works in the sandwich, but I wouldn't buy it as a side. The slaw has juices that drip out, so make sure to cover the bottom. The breading, slaw, and comeback sauce give this sandwich flavor. We poured sauce on EACH bite to overcome the bland chicken. The chicken itself needs a marinade. The owner used to claim that the chicken filets were marinated in buttermilk, shio koji, spices, salts, mirin, and saké. That's not happening now! That's a pity. It must have been great. 2) Michael sandwich It had breaded chicken filet, mushrooms, monteray jack, cheddar, mozzarella, and slices of red and green chile peppers in a potato bun with 2 choices of sauce. We got this at Classic level. This was the same size as the Sando. The chicken and breading were the same as above. The chiles were not very hot. This was tastier than their Sando because the cheeses added more flavor and savoriness. It still needed sauce. I prefer this over the Sando. 3) Burrito Grilled chicken, egg, cheese, and rice in a flour tortilla with 2 choices of sauce. We got this at level 2. It wasn't very hot because there wasn't enough chile powder in it. Only the meat had some. The chicken was breast meat that was moist, tender, and seasoned. The egg was cooked over-medium. The melted cheese tasted like a blend. The rice was lightly seasoned. We added Somi sauce, which was flavorful and complementary. Overall, the blend of flavors was satisfying. Here are the 4 sauces that we tried. They were in condiment cups with lids. It costs extra for more than 2 per entree. 1) Comeback sauce It had mayo, ketchup, and sweet relish. It was thick and heavy on mayo flavor. 2) Mumbo sauce It was very sweet, peppery, and slightly tangy with flavors of sugar, tabasco sauce, and ketchup. 3) Somi sauce It had a nice balance of mayo, cilantro, and lime juice. It's named after the owner's dog. 4) Zard sauce It had level 2 heat. BBQ sauce and mayo with ground red chile pepper & jalapeño oil. It was hot and enjoyable! They also have Honey mustard sauce and Michael's bbq sauce. The service was polite, helpful, and very informative. The dining room and restrooms were clean. There is street parking and garage parking at Harris Teeter. The food had good flavors on the first couple of chews, and then the bland chicken took over. As long as you have enough sauce, the food can be flavorful throughout. The quality of the food was excellent, and it was pleasing after we figured out the sauces. Wooboi has two locations. One in Alexandria and one in Herndon. It's a causal takeout place known for their fried chicken. There were only few items on the menu - sandwich, torta, and tenders (2 big pieces in each order). Their comeback sauce was very creamy and delicious! You can add a side of fries or slaws on the side. Their slaw isn't too heavy or creamy, which I like. You can choose different levels of spice: 1 (low), 2 (medium), 3 (hot), code red and code blue. We had to give this location a try because the Herndon location makes our favorite chicken sandwich. We ordered two Sandos (Levels 2 & 3) and Fried Okra. The sandwiches were huge and the chicken was super crispy and tender! The toppings, however, did not compare to Herndon's. The ciderslaw and butter pickles lacked the acidity and tartness that we loved. We weren't huge fans of the Fried Okra and ended up only eating a few pieces. The batter gave it a nice texture, but lacked flavor. Since we basically had the whole box left, we offered it to someone waiting for their food when we headed out. read more

If I remember correctly, a Yelp NoVa (thanks!) Insta shot led me to this spot. On a Saturday afternoon around 4:30 it was quite. Nothing fancy with an understated dining area and some outside seating. A simple menu with almost as many Power (heat) levels as food items. Ordered a couple of Sandos (most popular) at Level 2 and Level 3 Power levels. I can handle spicy and enjoy it. That said, Level 2 (medium) was just right. Level 3 (hot) was almost like a delayed Ghost pepper heat and sneaks up on you (& we also enjoyed this heat level.) 4 (code red) and 5 (code blue) must be off the charts which is why you have to sign the Waiver wall. (Hmmm, a big maybe for next time.) The chicken was tender, not greasy and the Sando was a substantial & tasty sandwich with Cider Slaw and pickles balancing it out. Tenders came with a slice of bread/pickles and were delicious. I'm usually not a fan of waffle fries but these were legit with their seasoning making the difference. We need a Wooboi in Maryland! This is if a hot chicken and Indian restaurant had a baby, and it had 90% of the hot chicken genes. Super well seasoned, made to order, massive piece of chicken on the bun. Would recommend if you want a different hot chicken experience. read more

Alright the price was a bit of a shock based on what the restaurant looked like and not having ever eaten there but the food was incredible and was enough for two meals easily- this coming from a girl that eats. The fries were huge and should have been split with a friend or two. It's got a fast casual vibe but I will say the cashier was so not interested in taking our order it was actually kind of humorous. I think the food absolutely justifies the price, just keep in mind how much food it is. My hot tip is to ask for more sauces... I'm not sure how I was supposed to know to ask for more sauces but my friend who ordered right after me got different sauces and they were delicious (and unmarked lol) read more
