We went for brunch on a Sunday. It was fairly busy but we were still able to grab a table for 6 without much of a wait. The vibes are casual and fun. There is a bar as well as upstairs seating. The location is perfect in the heart of downtown Alexandria, and we walked from the house we were staying Service is awesome. Everyone was attentive and friendly. Waters were always full, and they brought us fresh plates and utensils for sharing. Our server even memorized all of our orders perfectly! All food portions are enormous. Each dish can easily be shared. Biscuits are buttery and fluffy. Fried fish was tender and crispy. Fried chicken portion was too fried--very crispy but a little dry. Needed to smother with syrup or gravy. Cheesecake pancakes were delicious fruity pancakes but didn't notice any hint of cheesecake. Biscoff waffle was made to perfection. Overall, highly recommend Milk and Honey if you want a Southern inspired, hefty brunch.

The place was amazing we had to walk upstairs for seating. The waiters Josh went over the menu with us. The atmosphere was nice with a nice vibe. The fried green tomatoes was good and the biscuits was soft and good. The chicken and was was good and the chicken was cooked and seasoned definitely will be trying again

I loved the service we got a few days ago! Our server, Dana was very hospitable. She was so friendly and very helpful to our larger, loud group of Cali folks. We had a great time and she was a big part of it! The food I tasted was good! I ordered the shrimp and grits which were super flavorful and hearty. It was a very big portion which I appreciated! Some of my colleagues got the chicken & waffles which smelt amazing, I didn't try it. I highly recommend this casual bar spot for some very yummy food!

I was in the mood for a chicken sandwich and milk & honey did not disappoint. Chicken was tender and juicy and the tots were delicious. Beautiful bar area and they have upstairs dining area. The service was very friendly and efficient. Welcoming for groups. Ty is an excellent bartender and all his customers are treated special.

Sunday brunch with friends. I think a restaurant called Hen Rooster was at this same location. We had reservations and arrived shortly after the restaurant opened. Our table would have been great since it was by the window, but there were no blinds or anything to protect you from the glaring sun. It was quite uncomfortable. The restaurant was busy, so we were unable to move to a more comfortable table. We ordered: Tail of two fish, Biscoff waffles, biscuits, and mimosas. Biscoff-flavored items seem to be everywhere right now. The waffle was okay and wasn't overwhelming. The biscuits were probably my favorite, and I was glad the menu included turkey bacon and turkey sausage. My friends liked the catfish and the collards. The staff was...okay, perhaps a bit absent-minded. The restaurant was quite busy, and thankfully, we didn't feel rushed and were able to enjoy our time.

Always wanted to try and finally visited over the weekend for brunch. Some tables upstairs have impressive window views! Everything sounded tasty but what I tried was all just okay. The fried whiting, then the wings were the best part. If the biscuits were warmer that would've helped them a lot. The hot honey and spiced cookie pair interestingly on the waffle, I would've preferred just a plain waffle. The service was the star of visit, Jenna is such a gem - she was friendly, prompt, professional & the right amount of playful. I was impressed with her menu knowledge, top tier descriptions and would revisit just for her - THANKS JENNA!

Parking is a little complicated as it is street parking available The place is pretty and has two floors the staff is super nice and friendly. The food is amazing. We got to shrimp and grits, and the chicken with biscuits and I must say I am in love. The waitress told us about a deal with a discount for us to apply to our bill. So nice. This is an great place to eat

I was so excited when this restaurant got an old town Alexandria location - they were wasted on the Rt 1 corridor. And now I see they have a handful of other DMV locations. Last time I had their fried fish and grits-this time I had a quick fried fish sandwich at the bar for lunch. Very friendly server (Thay)- I only wish I had time to try one of the appetizers too (calamari? Fried green tomatoes? Yes please!)

I love to see the expansion and growth of this restaurant. It's come a long way from College Park/Beltsville days. This particular location did not disappoint. It sits right in the bustle of Old Town Alexandria, on King Street (old Hen Quarter). Hats off to the interior decorator. The place is beautiful. We came here on a Sunday for Brunch. Seating was plentiful, but intimate. I could see there being a wait without reservations. Shoutout to Jenny, our server. She was kind and patient and super friendly! I heard her single-handedly sing happy birthday to a guest to make her day special. That kind of top tier service Is rare nowadays. I got my usual, the crispy salmon hash. I like what i like!! And it didn't disappoint. Great addition to the area!!

My friend and I went to Milk & Honey in Old Town today, and it did not disappoint. As two Georgians far from home, we woke up craving some good ol Southern food, and this was the perfect choice. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon with no reservation and were seated right away, which was great! If you're hoping for a window seat, though, it's a good idea to reserve ahead. The restaurant is beautiful inside with bright artwork and lively music that gave it a really welcoming atmosphere. Our server was super friendly and helpful, and made us feel taken care of from the start. She also made the best suggestions for meal options based on our likes and dislikes. We ordered the biscuits to begin, and they were warm, buttery, and the perfect way to start our meal. For our entrées, my friend chose the shrimp and grits and absolutely loved it. I went with the Cajun pasta with shrimp and crab. It initially needed a bit more flavor, but our server brought out some Cajun seasoning when I asked, and it really enhanced the dish. Highly recommend that little extra seasoning if you enjoy a stronger Cajun taste. The portions were generous, and I left with plenty to enjoy later. For a drink, I ordered a Hugo spritz. It was refreshing, but just a heads up that cocktails and mimosas are both priced at $14. Something to keep in mind if you're planning on doing a standard bottomless DC brunch! Overall, Milk & Honey delivered great food, friendly service, and a great brunch vibe. The biscuits are a must, and both the shrimp and grits and Cajun pasta are solid choices. We will definitely be back next time our cravings hit!

10/10!! With so many incredible sounding options on the menu, the decision on what to order was difficult. We decided to order the Cheesecake Pancakes and the Shrimp and Grits. Both were soooo delicious! Also got a spicy guava margarita and a watermelon margarita that were both really good. We sat at the bar and the service was pleasant. The music was good for a moment, but they kept turning the music off and on, so that was strange. We did order the peach cobbler hand pie and while I love the concept, it just wasn't great. There weren't enough peaches and the pic crust was a bit chewy. Overall, I had a great experience and I'm looking forward to trying more items on the menu.

I had brunch at Milk & Honey in Old Town Alexandria today, and it was such a great experience overall! To start, I ordered the Honey Old Bay Wings, and let me tell you--they were absolutely delicious. Crispy, well-seasoned, and packed with flavor. I would come back just for these alone. For my main dish, I had the Blackened Salmon with Creamy Cheese Grits topped with a Cajun Cream Sauce, and it was by far the best fish and grits I've ever had. The salmon was perfectly cooked, the grits were creamy and smooth, and that Cajun cream sauce tied it all together beautifully. Truly a standout dish. I also tried the Biscoff Espresso Martini. While it was strong (which I appreciated), the flavor fell a little flat since it didn't really taste like Biscoff--though they did sprinkle cookie crumbles on top, which was a nice touch. The vibe of the restaurant was lively yet comfortable, making it a perfect brunch spot. Service was friendly and attentive as well. Highlights: * Honey Old Bay Wings = must try! * Blackened Salmon & Grits = incredible. * Drinks are creative, but the Biscoff Martini could use a little more Biscoff flavor. Overall, I really enjoyed my brunch and will definitely be back to try more dishes on the menu.

There's a new Milk & Honey in the DMV, and it's located in the old Hen Quarter space in Old Town. I was in the area and decided to check out their Restaurant Week lunch menu. It was 3 courses for $25, so not a bad way to check out what a new restaurant has to offer. Milk & Honey's menu is expansive, and they serve breakfast/brunch, lunch and dinner. I started my meal with the biscuits. This was probably my favorite item that I tried. The biscuits are really good by themselves, but the butter and jam that they provide alongside are a nice accompaniment. I also ordered the Biscoff Espresso Martini, which is one of their signature cocktails and was unique, interesting, and presented well. My first course was the fried green tomatoes. I'm typically not a fan, but these weren't bad. The chicken sandwich is topped with honey butter and pickles. I ordered mine without pickles, and I thought the sandwich had good flavor, but I had to request extra honey butter as it was a little dry. The sweet potato bread pudding wasn't my fave, but it was okay. I think it would have been better if it came with a scoop of ice cream as well. My servers were nice, and the clearing of dishes was prompt. The inside is huge and beautifully decorated, with outdoor, indoor downstairs/upstairs, and bar seating. And they also have TVs in the restaurant. Overall, it was a good experience and I would come back to check out their brunch menu.

    Delicious fried green tomatoes.

Capo Italian Deli - Old Town Alexandria…read more I reviewed our new Old Town neighbor - Capo Italian Deli - early in 2026. Time for an update. The deli is outstanding. Taking up a tiny footprint on the N. Washington Avenue thoroughfare, a few seconds from King Street, the deli delivers both hot and cold deli entrees, soft drinks, and salads. There's maybe half a dozen tables inside and a couple of tables outside, but from what I have seen thus far, most of the trade is with carry-out service, drawing from the excellent reputation Capo brought with it as it arrived in Old Town (the restaurant has siblings in Shaw NW, and Western Market in the District, Tyson's Corner in Vienna, VA, Annapolis and Potomac, MD). Fresh Philly rolls for those seeking a traditional hero sandwich, with go-to seasonings and all of the essential protein groups. My favorite is a large half roast beef half turkey with lettuce, tomato, and mayo (I skip the Italian dressing, which is part of the default, and I skip the cheese). I can and have made this $18 sandwich last three meals (so I ask them to cut the sandwich into three pieces), and the ingredients stay fresh for the next 24 hours. The last time I did this the sandwich fed me from 4:45 a.m. to 9 p.m., as I served as an election officer at one of Alexandria's polling places. Neat, trim, and completely satisfying. Just a point of concern: given its location, the opportunity to double-park while picking up an order seems to be just too tempting. This location, however, cannot over the long term sustain double-parkers. The deli is about 100 feet from the intersection of King Street and N. Washington Street. There is a dedicated lane for cars seeking to park adjacent to the deli. And then there are two northbound lanes on N. Washington Street. That's it - just two lanes serving one of the busiest intersections in Old Town. If a delivery-service car pulls up alongside one of the parked cars, all hell will break loose by drivers who suddenly find a delivery vehicle double-parking in front of Capo, leaving but one northbound lane open for however long it takes for the delivery agent to gather the order and beat it out of there. This happens with remarkable frequency, starting at about 11 a.m. and running throughout the day. That's not going to make good neighbors of Capo's nearby shops. Alexandria Parking has its work cut out for it, but here the rule prohibiting double-parking has to be enforced - it's both a safety issue and an issue of common courtesy. Doesn't matter if you think you'll just be in and out of the deli in seconds. We know it doesn't work that way, not always, and here - not even often. More often than not the double-parker will be creating a traffic hazard just by parking alongside a parked car in front of the deli. Please, don't do this.

This review is based solely on the customer service I received over the phone…read more I had placed a $62 order through DoorDash and chose Capo even though there are plenty of other deli spots nearby, because they normally make really good sandwiches. Unfortunately, the customer service this time was extremely disappointing. I called with a simple question about the bread since I have braces and needed something soft. The person who answered the phone was rude and dismissive, acting as if my call was an inconvenience. When I asked which bread was the softest, he cut me off to say they were "super busy" and could only change the bread on one sandwich, not both. I asked again for clarification, and he continued sounding irritated and uninterested in helping. He repeated that they had a line of people and needed to know which one sandwich I wanted to change. For the amount I paid, the lack of basic courtesy and willingness to answer a straightforward question was unacceptable. This will be my last time ordering from Capo in Alexandria, VA.

Second best sandwiches I have ever had, but best on the East coast…read more I'm in Arlington on business from the West Coast and was looking for a quick lunch spot when I stumbled into this little hidden gem. I've eaten at plenty of delis over the years, but Eddie's Little Shop completely surprised me with flavors I've genuinely never tasted before. The sandwiches here are incredibly unique, creative combinations that just explode with flavor in ways I wasn't expecting. What really stood out were the huge, fresh chunks of real mozzarella, paired with their homemade-style dressings, sauces, and condiments. It's easily one of the best sandwiches I've ever had, and I've tried a lot. The portions are generous, the bread is spot-on. I'll definitely be back before my trip ends. If you're in Arlington, do not miss Eddie's Little Shop Deli. Highly, highly recommended!

Saturday, midafternoon, I stop by for an Eddie Mootz ($17) (salami, ham, sopressata, mozzarella, on seeded italian). I'm handed this brown paper bag that weighs, I dunno, 3 lbs? I have to carry this back with me to the Metro. Twice along the way, I have to stop and catch my breath. I get home, my kitchen counter sags a bit where I put the bag down. Cripes, Eddie's. And the sandwich itself? 2 meals, easily. Thick thick piles of meat and a shovel-full of mozzarella. Very chewy bread. I work up a sweat just eating this, there's so much labor involved. I ordered online from the Metro, around the DCA stop, and got a notification it was ready before I got to the King Street stop. Fast turnaround. Eddie's is now on my list of places to make a point of going to for sandwiches in the DMV. Really good sandwich, and a lot of it.

A fantastic sandwich location. I love a good sandwich!…read more I was able to place an order for pick up just before I got on the train to head back. Brilliant! I will definitely for this again on my next trip. I ordered a BLT on multigrain, and a PBJ w/honey drizzle on sourdough. The PBJ is off the kids menu. I'll ask for extra peanut butter and jelly so it's to my liking. I couldn't tell if there was honey on it, it could have been. The BLT was fantastic. I loved that it was not oiled high with all the ingredients. A simple sandwich. It fit the bill and didn't over fill me. A true classic. The multi grain bread was the best! I need to find out where that is from. It was that good. I hope I'm able to try the tuna fish and the egg salad sandwiches sometime they look delish! The staff were quiet, but got the job done. There is a small bar like area to eat in, and outdoor tables in a covered area to enjoy your sandwich.

Great little sandwich shop!…read more It's very popular at noontime. I took a break from my 4 hour long painting class upstairs in the Torpedo Factory to snag a bite. My timing was good, because I arrived right before a work group of maybe 10 people or so came into place their orders. In addition to a substantive sandwich menu, which includes both hot and cold sandwiches, there's plenty of beverage (including wine) and snack selections. Wearing an oil paint-smudged apron (FYI: the reality is that you're still going to get paint on your clothes even wearing an apron), I aptly ordered the Torpedo Artist. The Torpedo Artist is a hot Panini-like sandwich. You can select your type of meat, cheese and toppings. By default it includes lettuce, sweet peppers and deli oil. My sandwich was well-crafted with plenty of turkey and Swiss cheese. However, I didn't especially like this sandwich. I wish I had asked them to hold the deli oil because it was overly pungent with oregano. All I could taste in my sandwich was oregano. But older and wiser now, I know in the future that if I have them hold the deli oil, I'll end up with a great and tasty sandwich.
