I had my younger kids with me while my wife was at work so a nice greeting and prompt seating goes a long way with me. I started with the calamari and it's was Amazing. Very crispy. Had great colors on the plate, they even put a little char on the lemon garnish which was a nice touch. I gave the gumbo a shot and was not disappointed, best I've had since Jazzfest in Nola. Across the board disappointing experience. I liked my biscuit appetizer but that's where it ends. The smothered chicken and biscuits entree was awful. The chicken was fatty and gristly. Hard to cut even with a knife. Eggs were ok with the biscuit, wish there was more gravy with it to make it truly "smothered". The service was the true problem. Seemed very understaffed and unprofessional. Two bartenders seemed to be handling the bar, and all drink orders, and all first floor and outside tables. Staff was loudly complaining about other staff - very unprofessional. Multiple seemingly quiet conversations among staff that of course everyone at the bar heard. Discussions laced with obscenities. Other conversations complaining that tables were asking for too many refills so we should give them larger glasses. Those conversations shouldn't happen at all, let alone happen around customers. We went for brunch on a Sunday. It was fairly busy but we were still able to grab a table for 6 without much of a wait. The vibes are casual and fun. There is a bar as well as upstairs seating. Our table would have been great since it was by the window, but there were no blinds or anything to protect you from the glaring sun. It was quite uncomfortable. The restaurant was busy, so we were unable to move to a more comfortable table. We ordered: Tail of two fish, Biscoff waffles, biscuits, and mimosas. Our server, Corrine, was friendly, offered suggestions as well as customer favorites. They have a predominant brunch style menu. Some of my coworkers had the butter glazed biscuits with sweet potato butter and peach jam, the blackened salmon BLT, crispy fish sandwich, chicken wings and spring salad. I had the Cajun pasta with crab and shrimp. The shrimp was nicely cooked and well seasoned. The pasta was al dente with a cream sauce that was a wee bit salty. They were good, but I think they would've been even better served warmer with a little more honey drizzled on top. The fried green tomatoes were an 8/10 -- really good flavor and a great start to the meal. For our mains, we got the gumbo and added lobster -- 9/10! The flavor was really good with a nice amount of spice, so you definitely have to like a little heat. We also tried the lobster jerk pasta, which I'd give an 8/10. It had really good flavor and was a little different, with a nice kick to it. The star of the meal was definitely the Biscoff waffle and chicken -- 10/10! Such a good combination of sweet and savory, and the hot honey on the side took it to another level. This is a MUST TRY on the menu! For my drink, I got the iced honey oat milk coffee -- 8/10. It was good, just a little sweeter than I personally prefer. Overall, everything had great flavor and there were definitely some standout dishes. Took my sisters from out of town to Milk & Honey for their first visit, and it was disappointing. Four of us ordered the Biscoff chicken and waffles plus the honey milk latte. When the food came out, it looked nothing like what I've had at the Springfield location--no Biscoff sauce or cookie, and it tasted like regular chicken and waffles. Presentation was sloppy. When I mentioned it, the waiter insisted the Biscoff was in the batter and argued instead of checking. The manager came and confirmed they had run out of Biscoff ingredients, which should have been communicated upfront. I won't be returning to this location--I'll stick with Springfield. read more

I love to see the expansion and growth of this restaurant. It's come a long way from College Park/Beltsville days. This particular location did not disappoint. The restaurant is beautiful inside with bright artwork and lively music that gave it a really welcoming atmosphere. Our server was super friendly and helpful, and made us feel taken care of from the start. She also made the best suggestions for meal options based on our likes and dislikes. We ordered the biscuits to begin, and they were warm, buttery, and the perfect way to start our meal. For our entrées, my friend chose the shrimp and grits and absolutely loved it. I went with the Cajun pasta with shrimp and crab. It initially needed a bit more flavor, but our server brought out some Cajun seasoning when I asked, and it really enhanced the dish. Highly recommend that little extra seasoning if you enjoy a stronger Cajun taste. The portions were generous, and I left with plenty to enjoy later. For a drink, I ordered a Hugo spritz. It was refreshing, but just a heads up that cocktails and mimosas are both priced at $14. Something to keep in mind if you're planning on doing a standard bottomless DC brunch! I'm still amazed that every other location got an upgrade, except this one, the Camp Spring spot. Things that make you go, hhhhmmmm. The food today was bland and flavorless, honestly not what I've come to expect from this restaurant group. The fried green tomatoes were the one bright spot on the plate and genuinely great, crispy and well seasoned. But outside of that, nothing else really stood out. To start, I ordered the Honey Old Bay Wings, and let me tell you--they were absolutely delicious. Crispy, well-seasoned, and packed with flavor. I would come back just for these alone. For my main dish, I had the Blackened Salmon with Creamy Cheese Grits topped with a Cajun Cream Sauce, and it was by far the best fish and grits I've ever had. The salmon was perfectly cooked, the grits were creamy and smooth, and that Cajun cream sauce tied it all together beautifully. Truly a standout dish. I also tried the Biscoff Espresso Martini. While it was strong (which I appreciated), the flavor fell a little flat since it didn't really taste like Biscoff--though they did sprinkle cookie crumbles on top, which was a nice touch. The vibe of the restaurant was lively yet comfortable, making it a perfect brunch spot. Service was friendly and attentive as well. There's a new Milk & Honey in the DMV, and it's located in the old Hen Quarter space in Old Town. I was in the area and decided to check out their Restaurant Week lunch menu. It was 3 courses for $25, so not a bad way to check out what a new restaurant has to offer. Milk & Honey's menu is expansive, and they serve breakfast/brunch, lunch and dinner. I started my meal with the biscuits. This was probably my favorite item that I tried. The biscuits are really good by themselves, but the butter and jam that they provide alongside are a nice accompaniment. I also ordered the Biscoff Espresso Martini, which is one of their signature cocktails and was unique, interesting, and presented well. My first course was the fried green tomatoes. I'm typically not a fan, but these weren't bad. The chicken sandwich is topped with honey butter and pickles. I ordered mine without pickles, and I thought the sandwich had good flavor, but I had to request extra honey butter as it was a little dry. The sweet potato bread pudding wasn't my fave, but it was okay. I think it would have been better if it came with a scoop of ice cream as well. My servers were nice, and the clearing of dishes was prompt. The inside is huge and beautifully decorated, with outdoor, indoor downstairs/upstairs, and bar seating. The southern style cuisine is mouth watering excellent. My wife and I saw this small corner restaurant on King Street and decided to give it a try. Not disappointed. Service and staff A+. Ambiance was nice inside but we decided to enjoy the weather and sat outside cafe style. I tried the Gumbo cup which had a nice mix of traditional ingredients to include large shrimp then followed up with the Crispy Salmon Hash for dinner. Another excellent choice! I really wanted to like this place. Cute vibes and an interesting menu (blend of traditional and southern foods). We called ahead (day of) to ensure there was a table available for a party of 5. They said they could take us at 1:45pm - worked for us! But when we arrived it was a hot mess. I'm not sure if it was a new manager on shift or their computers went down but we waited ~10min for our table. Many tables open and bussed upstairs- so I think it was a new manager working (?). The waiter that served us was fine, but not stellar. We ordered food quickly but ended up waiting almost 45min to be served our entrees, and one member at the table didn't receive theirs until everyone else had pretty much finished. Ordered French toast, crab hash, 2x avocado toasts, one veggie bowl, 3 coffees. Service felt rushed, unprofessional and lackluster. The food was fine but I wouldn't take any other out of town guests here for food with or without a reservation based on this experience alone. I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt that maybe they had a lot of new members working the floor and kitchens. Rating 3/5.
