I went to Wood Floor planet after being told the white oak Mirage floors we selected would be special order and would take 2-3 weeks. We wanted to start our job immediately and that would have been a major setback. We did not hire Wood Floor Planet so this review is only about customer service. Our $2,000 booked hardwood floor installer canceled at the last minute. They were to install the floors over the course of 3 days but canceled by text days before the install date, Labor Day weekend. We had to scramble to get a new installer. We checked reviews and booked an estimate. There was a mix up when Eric sent a text around 7 am to reschedule from Tuesday to Wednesday, but we had already booked for Wednesday. Eric arrived over an hour early, after confirming it was okay, since he was nearby. He took measurements, looked over the materials on site and confirmed my email address. The quote arrived within 48 hours and was in line with the $4.50/psf price quoted by phone. The quote included installing flooring, plus prepping the floor with Ardex or level set for $500 and $700 to install the underlayment. That quote did not include removal of the existing flooring in the foyer and kitchen, which should have been included in the quote. We were happy with the quote and customer service but went with a different installer who was recommended by our flooring retailer. read more

Wood Floor Planet is a business focussed around integrity and customer service. Eddy was an incredible pleasure to work with and was professional and kind from start to finish. I had an extremely small window of time to complete the project, and everything from the initial quote to the final product was completed with transparency and care. For instance, I only had two short mornings in my schedule set aside for quotes, and Eddy made a special effort to see my apartment on Easter Friday as that was the only remaining day that worked for me. Of the four quotes I received, Wood Floor Planet was the only one that provided a precise breakdown of all labor costs and materials. Eddy brought samples of the wood I was interested in to my apartment so I could get a better sense of what the wood looked like on site. I also had special soundproofing requirements, and Eddy was flexible in adapting my design to the project. He spent time to research the materials I suggested to make sure there would be a positive result. Finally, I was out of town for most of the project. While it was nerve-wracking to be away from my apartment while the work was being done, Eddy communicated consistently throughout the period and sent me photos at every stage of installation. He always addressed my concerns with clarity and patience. I have worked with wood flooring businesses twice before, and this experience exceeded my expectations. I give this place 5 stars for the following reasons: 1) Eddy has one of the best prices for the bamboo wood floors that I purchased. You can find cheaper goods elsewhere, but not the level of quality in his shop. 2) Eddy is also very knowledgable about wood floors. He did this key test where he drops his keys on the floor and see what type of marks it makes on the different wood floor he carries. This was very effective in helping me to choose a stronger commercial grade floor. 3) Wood Floor Planet has great customer service!!!!! We hired Wood Floor Planet after reading reviews online, meeting Rosie at the office and having Eric came out to complete the estimate. We were installing a new floor throughout our entire apartment which was full of furniture and personal belongings. We were out of town for a majority of the project and Rosie and Eddy communicated with us continually with pictures and updates. Aside from the fact that they are one of the few places that still provides natural, vertical bamboo flooring at a decent price, the Washington DC representative, Bernardo, is fantastic! He has a professionalism and work ethic that is rare in today's business climate. First, he provided the contractor who was working at my place with pictures of my flooring. When I had a question about the photos, he followed up with me by email, immediately. Moreover, even though the contractor who ordered the flooring for my place would not work on Saturday, Bernardo still drove into the city to bring me a floor sample...on Saturday. Then knowing that I was trying to have the flooring installed in less than two weeks because of the holidays, Bernardo got the flooring delivered in THREE days...an early delivery. What a great surprise! After delivery, Bernardo then followed up with an email. My experience with Bernardo and Wood Floor Planet was both professional and efficient. I can't say enough great things about this company. We needed to replace the wood floor in our East Side Manhattan apartment. We met Eddy and it was hassle-free from the estimate to the work to the final bill. Eddy did exactly as promised. Wood Floor Planet just redid my apartment flooring in Manhattan! From the first call I made to inquire about their services till the very end I had an extremely pleasant experience. Rosie coordinated the entire project flawlessly - from explaining me in detail steps they will take, to ordering materials, to billing, to providing forms and being available right away to answer any questions I had. Eddy (the owner) himself came to take a look at what needed to be done and then visited multiple times while his team worked in my apartment to make sure everything was going well. My apartment is in a 100 year old building so the entire floor was uneven and squeaky and Eddy's team worked diligently from from end to another to level and secure it before laying down the new flooring. They were extremely courteous and show-up exactly on time every day and took extra care in making sure that my neighbors were not disturbed or have reasons to complain. As one instance of how good they were - after they had completed the entire apartment and already removed the tools I noticed a small section which was sightly uneven, they immediately brought their stuff back, ripped the area and redid from sub-floor level to fixed it properly. Great advice and outstanding service. Eddie suggested the floor and installation method that was best suited the apt. and subfloor that covered asbestos underneath and came to inspect apt. before sending the estimate. The floor I ordered was Mirage engineered Admiration collection hardwood floor which was glued and nailed down over existing parquet. Rosie was extremely patient, fast and helpful in sorting out building permits, permissions to enter, certificates of insurance, etc. in my condo and rescheduling: work was delayed due to other projects in my building limiting access. Rosie kept me updated periodically regarding a start date. Eddie went to the job site at the start and end of the installation, made some more good suggestions, and when installation was in progress, patiently explained everything by remote control via skype from my apt (I was away on a business trip outside the US). I couldn't ask for better service. There was also a slight savings vs. estimate due to a change order on the baseboards. Most importantly, the floor looks beautiful and is well installed. Wood Floor Planet also left me some additional flooring (in case of water damage) and a small floor section in case I need to do color matching. Highly recommend without reservation. read more

Wood Floor Planet just replaced the floors of our co-op apartment from old, beat up parquet to new strip wood, engineered maple. Eddy the owner was there with us and available at all times from when I walked in the store and met him/got his recommendations to completion of the job. He was fine to just order the wood and have someone else do the work, but his quote for the work was incredibly reasonable (it was the same as or close to two places located in the Bronx and Brooklyn, and thousands less than quotes from at least two other Manhattan companies). Eddy gave me his cell # and always responded promptly to calls and emails. We were getting the place painted at the same time, and despite this hurdle, his team was professional and worked hard to meet my short time frame (from ordering of the wood to completion of the job it was about three weeks).
