Very nice bowling alley, clean, and the music's not too loud (although I'm sure the volume increased with every new set of bowlers that arrived. There's a lot of mechanical maintenance happening, which is kind of distracting, and we had to move to a different lane when our automatic scorer got confused and wouldn't reset. The lanes aren't completely level, but they're fine for casual family bowling. My biggest disappointment was that I wanted to join the family in one game but couldn't find a light ball with larger holes. With the number of elderly people in the area, it could be an interesting experiment to have a few 6 lb. (or less) balls that adults can get their fingers into. Bowling is a mostly non-strenuous sport that a lot of older people could do well in, and it would be a great way to get them out of the house. Overall, I could be convinced to come here and join the family to watch them bowl, again, or maybe join in, myself. read more

Just got back from a Saturday bowling trip with my wife and two kids (6 and 2 1/2). Had a great time. We've driven past more times than I can count on the way to other places, but heard that it's much nicer inside than out - and they were right. Clean lanes, shoes, balls and the most helpful / nicest staff I've run into anywhere in a long time. They made sure we had everything we needed for the kids, brought our orders from the snack bar to the lane and didn't flinch when our kids rolled balls down the wrong alley. We'll definitely be back and, if you're looking for a good bowling experience, I'd highly recommend Wood Lanes. (If the parking lot and exterior were a bit nicer, I'd give them five stars, hands down...) read more

Brunswick Zone this is not. Wood Lanes is an old school bowling alley with lots of local....um.....mullets?....yeah, but no.....rusty pick up trucks in the parking lot?....check, but not what I'm looking for.....patrons with coolers of beer, complete with NASCAR koozies?....uhhhmm....oh, FLAVOR. Yes, this bowling alley has lots of local flavor. And don't get me wrong...I love rural South Jersey flavor! Actually, this place is pretty great if you don't care that it's not the cleanest, most up to date, flashiest bowling center of all time. Or the 1980s for that matter. They're a little behind. So what? To me, I do not really want to partake in bowling that happens in these BRIGHT facilities with flashing lights and loud music in the middle of the friggin afternoon. I will probably get a headache from the sounds of bowling alone, plus the remnants of years of cigarette smoke...I don't need to get one the second I walk through the door (Brunswick Zone, I'm talking to you!). Just take one look at the hand painted sign affixed to the outside of the building and you know that this place isn't going to be your "upscale bowling" experience. But it will be fun. It will be cheap. And you probably won't have to wait for a lane (at least I never have, though I've only been here on a Friday or Saturday night a couple times). read more

Thanks to staff..school trips here are very pleasant, and the staff is very receptive to special needs children...we asked if some food can be heated on a microwave, and with a smile, the staff took care of it. Looks really dingy on the outside but the inside is updated and nice! Lots of lanes, byob, snack bar open the whole time. Didn't try the food but it smelled good. Average bowling alley food (burgers, fried things, etc.) Nothing fancy but definitely nicer than it looks on the outside! read more

Took the kiddo's here last Saturday and they had a great time, I'm glad to say that the place is much cleaner and they have been updating. The scoring console is now this small touch pad center, the games now have themes you can pick (we went with the Halloween theme), which was very cool. The snack bar was closed for renovations, but there were vending machines to buy drinks and snacks. The ladies bathroom was much cleaner than I remembered from my last trip here, overall a nice little bowling alley. read more

Great for taking the kids to for an afternoon out. They play country music NONSTOP which can be irritating after your first game or so. The place itself is a little run down but it works for me. Reasonable prices. read more

For being the only alley around for MILES, Wood Lanes is great. Don't let its name fool you,. the lanes are synthetic and very well maintained. And though the pins are old, they score pretty well if you hit the pocket right!!! Service staff was always friendly too. Owner/ managers are superb! read more

No, Wood Lanes is not a new bowling center. And Yes you may see some buckets collecting water on rainy days........BUT......it is a place to have fun. I have been bowling here for over 4 years. I bowl two nights a week and I really like the people I have met and become good friends with. The Owner, Barry, has invested a lot of time and personal money to keep this place open. And while everything can't get fixed at once, he has the place going in the right direction. So, come out and support the place.......join a league.....or put your kids in the Saturday youth bowling league. You will all have fun......and that's really what it's all about now isn't it? read more
