Open just 3 days a week for 6 weeks in the summer, it's completely free for kids 12 and under only. (8 and under on Tuesdays). It used to be a sanitarium & still serves as a place for kids to play, relax and eat free soup at noon. Seriously. It's been open for basically ever & is kind of a local secret. Unless you are a carousel expert, then you would know about their famous Ferrari carousel that is still operating and worth a trip just to experience alone. Look up the history online for an interesting story. The grounds are large enough for some soccer games etc. & I saw what looks like a volleyball court there too. There are old trees scattered around, so you can set yourself up with a blanket & camp chairs in the shade if you'd like. Or there are 3 large pavilions and multitudes of picnic tables all over the place. I also saw people with coolers of their own food. A huge slide, swimming and wading pools, free lunch at noon, plus snacks at 10 & 2, a playground, tons of swing sets and even old-school wooden see-saws = happy kids. http://southjerseyexplorer.com/2013/05/06/soupy-island-revisited/

She just turned 13 and was with her summer camp. She was told she cannot come back due to her age. Now what is she supposed to do next week when her summer camp goes back? If she was a problem I could understand but she's a good kid and now will have to stay home with nothing to do because I will be at work. I get that they don't want a bunch of teenagers hanging out...whatever...but she's with a summer camp being supervised. And to approach my child and make her feel horrible and tell her she can't come back....seriously? She was very upset.

There were some shops in the front and a couple of food trucks, for additional cost of course. There was also an ice skating rink, which also cost extra. Towards the back there is a little face-painting shack with another long line and... you guessed it... costs extra. At the center, there was a free small carousel with a long line. There were a couple of carnival type games in the back, which used to give out cheap prizes, but I guess they don't do that anymore. Outside of that, there is nothing to do, and the kids wanted to leave. We went into the tent and it was disorganized and overcrowded. Their balloon drop was a cluster of balloons balled up in a small area of the tent which everyone tried to cram up underneath, but only about 2 dozen kids could fit under it. There was no live band on the stage, even though they happily charged extra to rent out the igloos, where I guess you can sit and look at an empty stage. You have to walk through the mud to get to the igloos, or to use the bathrooms. So for $100 we listened to "baby shark" playing in the tent, watched about a hundred balloons drop at noon, and walked around. Everything is an additional charge, and I didn't see much value in the $20/person that we spent. I felt bad watching a larger group that was coming in as we were leaving, and felt like warning them. Disappointing after this property was overhyped years ago during construction, and just seems like it was never fully completed. Not sure who this venue is marketed to, but I didn't see many adults or kids having a good time. I don't see us coming back here again.

It's a large wooden structure playground with little forts, slides and all manner of fun stuff for kids of all ages to discover. It's even more fun than it looks in the photos I posted (methinks at least). The structure is really large & adults can can follow their kids most places on it if so desired. There are just a few spots where a young child could really take a tumble to the ground below, but that's the hazards of childhood. I kept a sharp eye on kid #1 until pretty recently. He loves this playground the best out of our small rotation though. There are also swings, a balance beam thing, slides and a sandbox. Picnic tables are around for parents & there's a small pavilion area I've seen co-opted for birthday parties. I don't think they do reservations like at Chestnut Branch park in Mantua. There's a much larger pavilion there, but the playground itself is not nearly as nice. The location is off of Crown Point Road past the library & police station if coming from Delaware St. Take the first right AFTER the light at police. There is a small sign. Follow the winding road back to the Little League field. Ample parking and a bathroom that is usually open are available. Sometimes the baseball snack bar will be open during season. We even caught a game once on a whim. Well, part of an inning! 3 year olds are notoriously fickle.

They offer finger foods like pizza, wings, and mozzarella sticks. You can have a party in their party rooms. The party rooms are time limited (about two hours or less), and while the staff isn't rude, they do come in frequently to remind you how much time is left. It makes the transition feel a little rushed. Once your time is up, you're kindly moved out. There is seating outside the party rooms, but there aren't enough tables to comfortably accommodate everyone. They do have lockers for your belongings, a small arcade area, and separate trampoline sections based on age, which is a big plus for safety. The food was average at best. The pizza wasn't great, and the mozzarella sticks were just okay like pre- frozen. Another downside is the parking lot. The plaza also has a Chuck E. Cheese, a nail spa, and an Olive Garden, so parking can be pretty chaotic especially on weekends when birthday parties are happening everywhere. Overall, it's fine if you just want to bring kids to jump and burn energy. Personally, I wouldn't choose it as a party venue because the time feels limited and rushed. Would I attend another party there? Probably. But once the two hours are up, I'm heading out.

(To be fair, they have mini golf, which was closed when I was there today, and ALLEGEDLY an indoor simulator, but when I called to inquire, they never picked up the phone and never called back.) Went there to hit a large bucket of balls today, along with every other single person in Deptford; or so it seemed. Large bucket is $13 and is about 100 balls, so the price isn't bad, even though everything else was. First, the mats are beat to shit. They are grooved, indented and just crappy. There are no tees. I even went to the shop to ask, and was told, "nah...we don't have any." So, you just have to hope to luck up and find an empty mat with a tee on it. I had to move from the upper deck to the lower, outside level to find a mat with a reasonable tee, as everything else was taken or without a tee. As bad as the mats are, the balls are 10x worse. I went to Ginos Driving Range in Mantua, and I thought THOSE balls were bad. The balls here are abysmal. Scuffed, cracked, bald; a mixture of range balls and found top flights, etc. Just terrible. (See the pics.) The range is a muddy mess with an old rusted out plane sitting on it. I guess to give duffers something to make noise at. No yard markers or anything constructive. AND, something I found weird/dangerous, is the the range kind of horseshoes, with people on the "sides" hitting off the actual grass, almost BACK INTO THE OTHER RANGE MATS. The grass crowd was basically perpendicular to the other hitters, AND to the LEFT, so a slice from them would send the balls straight at the people on the range. I didn't have that occur to me today, but a ball DID come passing behind us from the other direction. (No idea how....) There aren't many ranges in the area, and this one is maybe barely better than Ginos, balls not withstanding, but I'll still be in no rush to get back here.

****Wintertime Only Review****…read more We heard this park was a great place to sled in the area, so when we got enough snow this year to partake, we pulled out the sleds and headed on down. Gotta say; they were right. While the park WAS a bit crowded, there was still enough room for everyone to get a "lane" to sled. I particularly liked how there was a big hill, for the teens and more adventurous types, and then a smaller, but still useful hill for the little ones. (Also, if you came in basically sideways, where the entry way to the park is, it was basically a medium sized hill.) There is a playground and tons of open space, and even though it was PACKED, there was a lot of room for parking. Signage was a little off, as there is a "bridge" in the parking lot, and someone literally drove their car off of it in the snow, because it wasn't marked. *shoulder shrug* I'm nitpicking at this point. I'm sure this park is just as nice in the nice weather, and it's definitely our first stop for sledding if an when it snows again.

Ample parking and close proximity to Dippy's ice cream stand on route 45 make this park worth the extra miles in our book.
