Like many people in northern Connecticut I've been to Wooden Tap countless times. While I frequent the Farmington restaurant the most as it's closest to my house (and really enjoy the beautiful location), I do like to get over to the original Wooden Tap in Hartford that started at all! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also, this central location is a great meeting spot for my friends regardless of where they live in northern CT.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Also, there is usually ample parking. The food is consistently solid, and is largely textbook upscale tavern food. However, they do have a good selection of upscale, entrées, as well as salads, ribs, and their wings are pretty good as well. I think all of this, combined with reliably excellent service is why this local restaurant chain is so wildly popular!

Wood-n- tap always brings it. Great winter menu. Everything from the winter menu was fantastic. Service is always proficient. Any occasion from celebrations to I'm just plain hungry. Wood n tap has what you want. Cozy dining room and private room for larger groups available. I highly recommend warming up on a cold winter stay with the butternut squash soup pairs well with sweet beet and arugula salad. That's a meal in itself right there.. But the entrees they have like the bourbon glaze. Salmon is my go-to. Mixed vegetables and sweet potato on the side is definitely a nice flavor combination. Short rib is definitely a winter classic favorite. Especially with the mushroom risotto. And if you're a sandwich person they have you covered with patty melt They also have two desserts available. The flourless chocolate cake. Which is gluten free and lives up to its name chocolate divine. Also nice little winter classic is the walnut apple crisp. The amazing selection of winter inspirations on the cocktails as well. No matter what the season is, I definitely love a flight.... Enjoy dark cherry, winter citrus, a crisp ginger and finish it off with the classic. Margarita. Also, another favorite of the winter menu is the rise and chai cocktail. Also, the winter sangria is another recommendation.

Checked out the new winter menu at Wood-n-Tap at their Hartford location. I really enjoyed their bourbon glazed salmon and the mashed sweet potatoes that are served with it are incredible. The patty melt was also one of my favorites, but I wish that it had grilled onions like a traditional patty melt - really would have elevated the flavor profile. The dessert was hands down the best. The chocolate cake was so decadent. The creme brûlée was also delicious - with some hidden chocolate in the middle. Huge drink menu and some great bartenders serving them up!

Great party room at this location! Ben is a great bartender and our Margaritas were perfect. I really enjoyed my passion fruit Margarita and Nachos. So many varieties for both! Can't wait to go back!

I was here for a comedy show, which was hilarious by the way. All the comics were funny. The ambiance was casual, it felt real warm inside. You would be aight if you came here in jeans and sneakers. Food was delicious, I had a chicken sandwich with fries and a cranberry vodka. Everything came fast and fresh. Everyone was so accommodating and friendly. I need to travel out of NYC more often if this is how it's going to be. Despite everything being so casual, the service felt white glove. I'm not sure how else to say it. If you are in CT sometime, look at this place.

Tater tots (second side with salmon; came with like 10x more than this)

3.5 stars. Atlantic salmon was decent. Got broccoli and tater tots as sides. The broccoli was excellent, covered in butter. The tots were great too, very crispy and I think parmesan crusted. Only complaint is there was no sauce, and the salmon was too dry to eat on its own so I had to add my own sauce from home. The fried chicken sandwich fine. The breading was a bit unusual, coming apart from the meat. The chicken was well cooked. The fries were pretty standard, no complaints.

The best burger. So good. I'm thrilled this place was recommended. The service was great. The food was spectacular. Parking across the street. Highly recommend.

back again! tried their new spring menu item - pesto gnocchi with chicken, my first time trying gnocchi and it was super yummy and flavorful! cocktails were deliciously boozy. our server (didn't catch his name, but he gets extra points for being a fellow yankees fan) was amazing and very quick! [[HIGHLIGHT]]we came on a thursday night so the vibes were quite chill, a perfect date night[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Came for drinks with friends and continue to be impressed with everything about the newly renovated Wood N Tap in Hartford. From the expanded parking, to the beautiful decor to the great menu. Our server was funny and attentive. WNT has a great mule menu, with lots of variety. I ordered the prickly pear mule which is made of prickly pear vodka, pear puree, lime and ginger beer. Delicious! Also ordered the thai wings - these were some of the best wings I've ever had because they were crispy and flavorful. The thai sauce is an afterthought, though, because the crunchy consistency of the wings was so amazing. The nachos were ok to me, but the rest of my group seemed to enjoy them. I will definitely come back and bring friends because this was a great place to gather and catch up!

Valentine's Day Love/Appreciation post- This is the OG location for the Wood-n-Tap. I was there when it first opened and am still going today. They have remodeled and it is better than ever! There are also two parking lots now. So much easier to find parking. Always a spot! What is my go to when it comes to W-n-T? First off the Nachos- (aka the Monster Nachos). They are really my favorite in all the land. A huge mound of chips, cheese and deliciousness! This is and will always be a go to! Next up- love the Thai Noodle Salad with Chicken. Light and refreshing. A third favorite would be the Bison Burger. It's so good there. You also can not go wrong with the Softies, the Point Judith Calamari and the Tap Room Fries! Classics. Definitely stop by and check out their new design and if you have a large party- don't hesitate to book the back room party area. It is perfect for all celebrations and birthday parties! Now, let's go get some nachos! :)

The amount of steak that is given for the chop steak salad is ludicrous. See picture below. The sale itself is tasty.

It was a Sunday afternoon around 230p, it took a while to be seated since there was no host(ess). Eventually our server Ben came and told us to sit wherever we wanted and he will be right with us. He was super nice and friendly. We saw people come and wait and ended up turning back around bec of the no host/hostess situation. Anyway, I ordered the calamari and it came out so fast! The calamari was pretty good, pretty thickly cut though. Wished there were more of the tentacle pieces but it was yummy! Then we ordered hickory bbq burger and the bleu cheese one. Both were pretty good. They give you a lot of the sides so we were too full for dessert: My niece had chicken tenders and fries and pretty much inhaled it. The strawberry lemonade was super sweet, had to ask for a glass of water to water it down a bit, but that's everywhere. It was dull good. Place looks great!

Ask the Community - Wood n Tap

I want to watch the playoff game on Sunday. I haven't been in your new building. Are there TVs to watch?

Hi Bonnie, I'm sorry, I just saw this message this morning. Yes we have TV's in the bar of all Wood-n-Tap locations.…

This is a small eatery (I counted max 39 seats between tables and the bar) with difficult parking…read more I was able to get a spot right in front b because I went to lunch, but the parking lot has signs saying it is for employees of the wood shop next door, and no trespassing in the lot across the street, so I think street parking is the only option? Service is great, very attentive and friendly. The food is what earns this three stars. I tried a stuffie, German onion soup, a Farmhouse burger, and a key lime Mason jar. The stuffie was a little small, and most of the flavor was imparted by the ham and the squeeze of lemon. The German onion soup, I'm not sure why it was German except to not be French? Outside the name difference, the onions were way too large, and there was a total lack of flavor going on in the soup. The crock was very large too. The burger and fries looked pretty good, and I enjoyed the flavors here. The fries were rough hewn, so there was good crispness from all the edges. The toppings of the burger, and the bun, were also hearty. Unfortunately, my medium rare burger was more like raw meat with surface browning. I'm a big fan of rare steak, but ground beef needs a little more cooking. Also, the house made ketchup is really more of a marinara sauce. If I'd ended up eating more of my plate before they took it away to re-fire the burger, I would have asked to replace the ketchup. The key lime Mason jar was e everything you want to wrap up a meal. Great flavor, lightness, citrus. I did have to bring most of it home but, unlike the burger they brought back in a box, I'm excited to get back into the key lime. From an accessibility stand point, there is no ramp to get in nor handicap parking, so the evidently don't want your business. Once you're in, there are some seats you could get in, but if this place were full it would be difficult to navigate for anyone. The bathroom is a single room, but very spacious and nice. So, mixed bag for access. Your mileage may vary, but I'm not racing to return.
