Had the honor to work the opening day of the Fifa World Cup that was at the Back Nine Tavern. I gave out samples of the Modelo Mexican beer along with swag for the fifa World Cup. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. I didn't get to try the food but the sandwich's look amazing and large portions. The customers that came were previously playing golf or just came in for happy hour during my hours I was there. Walking into Nice Back Tavern, there isn't a host stand, so you kind of have to catch the attention of a server...but once you do, they're super welcoming. We were offered a choice of sitting inside or outside, and since it was a beautiful day, we chose the patio with a great view of the golf course. Definitely a win! I started with a lemonade mojito, and wow! it was refreshing and strong. One drink in and I was already feeling it (in the best way). We shared the fried mozzarella medallions, which were crispy, cheesy, and honestly better than the usual mozzarella sticks. Their house-made marinara sauce was the perfect dip. It was rich and flavorful. I was in the mood for a grinder, so I went with the Philly cheesesteak. It was packed, delicious, and super satisfying. I've heard their pizza is a must-try, so I'm already planning my next visit to give that a shot. My family recently had a Celebration of Life event at the Back Nine. The event managers were exceptional with their suggestions, help, and attention to detail. The food was ample and very good. A solid 4 stars. Lots of choices on the menu. The outside patio is amazing with lots of tables, good spacing and even larger tables with fire pits. You can see the golf course from many of the tables. The food was very good. We had the portabello sandwich and the California wrap. Both were nicely put together and attractively plated. There is also an extensive list of appetizers. The waitstaff seems well trained and I like the fact they help each other out. We've only been there for lunch so far so without trying some of the dinner entrees I'm reluctant to give it 5 stars at this point. But for lunch outside on a nice day it can't be beat! read more

1st impression the parking lot was pretty full a good sign. They were having a private event. Walking into the bar there were two couples at the bar with a couple and four people at the tables Sat. nite 6:30pm. I order a draft beer the wife a wine the beer is flat. We order a french onion soup to split it comes out looks good but I can't find any onions. My wife orders the special a Cuban sandwich and I ask the bartender which is better the meatball sub or French dip she says French dip. When I get it I look in horror the meat is black,dry and skimpy in portion. I should have sent it back but didn't The meat had an off taste to it and only ate half. The ajus had about 2 tablespoons of onions in it. Another couple walked in during our meal and I hear him order the meatball grinder. When it came I saw that it was a blackish ball with little or no sauce.He only ate half of his. Sorry this was a hit and a major miss for me, french is supposed to be medium rare. read more

We've been here a few times for both dinner on the deck and special occasion events. The food is typically decent. I've enjoyed their pizza. They're meatball sub is delicious (and I'm Italian and am typically really picky when it comes to meatballs). The back deck is so delightful- especially on a cool evening sitting around one of the fire tables. I have 2 young kids so being able to dine outside is always nice. We dined there last week and had a less than stellar experience. It was a Thursday evening. The kids and I met some family after they played golf. It was much busier than I would have expected. Waitress comes over in a huff - clearly overwhelmed. She wasn't that friendly and was rushing, She took 8 orders - drinks and meals - without writing anything down. My cousin and I chuckled about it when she walked away. We were both saying it'd be a miracle if she got it right. Well she didn't. And the worst part is that we waited about 30 mins for our meals - and the two she messed up out of the 8 were my 4 and 9 year olds. So then we waited another 15 mins for 2 pizzas. It was just annoying. Write it down next time. Well obviously be back but definitely not if something like this happens again. read more

Never been here before and work for a local company, so decided to chip and putt a few balls after work then grab a bite to eat. Nice practice area and the outside deck is a perfect spot to grab a beverage and a bite to eat. Had a burger with fries and a nice cold beer and it was delicious! I'll be back for sure. read more

A professional organization I belong to held our first meeting of the year here tonight -it was a hybrid meeting with twenty guests in the dining room and others joining us via a streamed Zoom broadcast. The Back Nine did a very nice job hosting us. It was my first time there and the place was really easy to find- just a few miles down the road from the Westfarms Mall on Route 71. The parking lot entrance was well marked, so you really can't miss the place. Our group dinner consisted of three courses- a dinner salad, a pasta course, and a choice of three entrees- beef, chicken or salmon. My dinner was fine-I thought the pasta and sauce were quite good and the two pieces of chicken were moist and tender. The potatoes, carrots, green beans, and sauce that came with the chicken were all quite good as well. The servers and bartender were friendly, efficient, courteous and professional. All twenty of our entrees came out more or less together and mine was piping hot, so the kitchen did very well tonight. Nice job Back Nine !! read more

If the Gates of Hell ever ejected a Monday for being even too dastardly for Satin himself it was this past Monday (8/5/2019). I spare you the details, but I would consider myself a WorkFarce Martyr from this Hellacious Day. Needing a quiet spot to lick my wounds I stopped at The Back Nine Tavern for a selfish one-on-one with a good ale. The Tavern has been on my Stop List for a long while. And I reached the end of this "While." Outside, the beautiful 36 hole public golf course, driving range, and it's humble and well kept stone club house (circa 1931). The Tavern on the back side over looking the course. Inside, more stone masonry and elegant arching windows of the day they were installed. At the bar, a few patrons, nearing the days final rounds. Both on the course and at the bar stool. I grab a vacant stool, scope out the room and taps. The barmaid, friendly and patient as I squinted at the twelve taps. She offered a verbal listing then said, "Our best DIPA is the Hooker Tropical Storm." Thumbs up. Quickly a froth tops ale arrived on a coaster along with an appetizer list and menu. Nice mix of choices. I look around again scoping other dishes being eaten. The pizza look awesome, and a few golfers Carbing-Up on burgers and dogs. However, the "Hawg Wings" caught my sufferin' eyes. Another ale ordered along with the Hawg Wings. The ale arrived and in about five minutes the most luscious BBQ'd gooey pork ribs slid in front of me. Celery and a sweetened blue cheese dip accompanied. As I dug into the thick juicy meat and sips of ale, the Evil from Day slithered its way back into its lava tube...without me! What an excellent reset in a magical setting. Your average golf course restaurant but with additional outdoor seating because you know....that new normal. However there is like one table in an awful spot. Awful view, dead grass, right on the side of tbe building below the stairs and kinda in a corner. I felt like I was in the hood compared to everyone else while at this table but hey a table is a table. Either way I still ended up moving to a better one haha. Anyways I was able to try their wings and what can I say? They were absolutely delicious. Ordered the Asian Cowboy Wings and the Honey Mustard Wings. The honey mustard was not overly sweet in any sense and the asian cowboy wings had an amazing sweetness with a nice kick to it. The wings themselves were meaty and cooked nicely. The blue cheese had nice chunks of cheese which went well with the celery sticks. Service was fairly quick and very friendly! Only thing I'd give a heads up on is if you sit at the tables below the deck the mosquitoes start biting when it gets dark. Like really bad. I didn't know that there was a restaurant at this golf course so close to the Costco's in New Britain! There is plenty of outdoor seating so for health reasons this is a great place for gatherings. The patio is humongous and you overlook the golf course. It is a lunch menu with plenty of sandwiches, pizza, and burgers. I would come here if you have a big group or you want to be outdoors. The view of the 18th hole is perfect. The food was delicious. Portions were large, that salad could have fed 2 people! The veal meat balls come as 2 and they are as big as a softball. Came for work lunch. Situated on a super nice golf course. The waitress was so nice and sweet. But the food was great. I got the Turkey club with sweet potato fries. It was the perfect amount of Mayo, crispy smoky bacon and Turkey. The bread was toasted lightly. And those fries... I'd go back for those alone. I had the meatball sub. The meatballs were good, but the so called baguette that it was on wasn't so good. I asked for eggplant fries as the one side with my sub. They were soggy and greasy. The very nice waitress noticed that I didn't eat them and she asked me if I would like a substitute for the fries. I had the coleslaw and it was fine. The waitress was great. Great food & drink options at this restaurant at The Stanley Golf Course. There's a good amount of seating around the bar area and a great patio outside when the weather is good. Service has consistently been good over the last six months or so since we've started going there. Two favorites of mine are the Greek chopped salad (dressing has peperoncini peppers which add a really nice kick)and the Treehugger sandwich which I've also had served in a wrap rather than a bun. It's full of roasted vegetables and melted provolone cheese. So many entree options, personal pizzas and a variety of appetizers and bar food. We belong to a private country club in the area, but when not golfing, we prefer dining at The Back Nine! read more

I've lived down the street for a few years and never knew about this restaurant. They have a great outdoor patio with excellent staff and food. It was the perfect summer day with fresh lunch and a beer while we watched the golf in a distance. Hidden gem for sure. read more

I've happily visited the Southington location multiple times and was excited to hear about the new location in New Britain. Tried the pizza and naked wings and they were both DELICIOUS!!! We really like this place. Great food, decent prices. We went the other day, the first time since Covid restrictions. We ate out on the patio, which we love. Only disappointment was that everything is paper and plastic. I'd think it would be "greener", less expensive and just as sanitary for them to use the glass/ceramic they have and wash them in the dishwasher at 130-ish degrees. Another change we didn't like.....only 1 credit card accepted per table. So if you're out with another couple (or more) and everyone is going "Dutch", either one credit card and others reimburse the one who used their card, or pay cash. (there is an ATM inside) I hope this policy is NOT permanent. read more

My family and I recently had a wedding reception for my brother and his wife. Don and his team did an amazing job! They were so accomodating from start to finish and we couldn't be happier of how everything turned out. We were concerned about the older folks getting up the hill but Don was able to get one of his staff to drive a golf cart for them and the driver was so nice and friendly and everyone appreciated the ride. Don was there during the reception to ensure all of the vendors were set up and good to go! The wait staff and bar tenders were very friendly as well! The banquet room is beautiful with plenty of space to have 100+ guests and room for a dance floor. Went to find out what all the fuss was we heard about Back Nine. We arrived nice and early. 4:30ish. We chose to eat on the patio. It was shaded and so pretty. Let me say this from the minute we entered until we all left everyone was friendly, caring and quite lovely. The 3 of us started with the nachos. Hold the peppers. Absolutely Delish. Our drinks were perfect and the nachos were perfect. Decided we were kinda full so we would share a small clams casino pizza. Nice thin crust chewy and tasty. The pizza was savory and we enjoyed it but had to take 2 pieces home. We will be back. We will bring friends. What a hit. Nice job everyone. read more

On June 2nd, I threw a 40th birthday for my husband. It was such a wonderful night and the banquet room was perfect for the occasion. Don and Adam were so accommodating when planning for the party and very easy to work with. Don and the staff working that night worked hard to make it exactly as I had wished for my husband. My husband's party was such a great time and a beautiful milestone that he/we will always remember. Our family and friends had many compliments to say about the venue and the food.
