We went for breakfast this morning. My husband had the sausage/egg meal. His food was really good. I had the sausage omelet. Supposedly, had 3 eggs...sausage, cheese, and "smothered with gravy! It was 3 eggs, bits of sausage, I mean bits!!! No cheese inside, just a sprinkling of cheese out the outside, and no smothering of gravy. It was a spoonful. Nice place. I love the small cafe. Loaded with fun things to see I ordered a cheese omelet which is more like cheese with a little egg. I didn't look at the menu so I was not aware of swiss cheese on it . I hate Swiss cheese but my fault. Not a problem it was just on top. But truly I had 1/2 cup a cheese I scraped off. If you love cheese you would love this omlet. They are not stingy with there ingredients. I got biscuits and gravy which was very good they topped it with sausage. Nice! But again for me I had to remove most of it . Just too rich for my stomach. Can't complain but I'm the same person who wants less alcohol in my drink because it's too strong!! WHO does that!! Love everything about it. The decor is interesting and servers have been friendly every time. Haven't tried lunch, but love the breakfasts. Sausage links are some of the best I've had. The same can. We will never drive past this restaurant again, without going in to order by far the best Reuben sandwich we have ever had! Maybe just the best sandwich in general that we have ever had. This is our favorite breakfast place up in Heber. The pancakes are amazing, great service and reasonable prices.

We have a second home in Overgaard AZ and have been going to the Wood Shed Cafe for over 7 years for breakfast. After driving for 2.5 hours this morning we were looking forward to having a good cup of coffee and relaxing breakfast. We were the third couple seated in front of the restaurant in front of the bar at a table by the wall, remember us Mark? A forth couple came in and was seated in the left side dining area, then a 5th couple came in and was seated at the table next to us. All were attended to with coffee and greetings as we sat there and watched. I politely said excuse me loud enough for the chatting waitstaff behind the bar to hear me and waited as the wait staff turned around. When eye contact was made I said "may we have some coffee please?" This was after all others who entered the restaurant after us had been served and all waitstaff were standing behind the bar chatting. If looks could kill I would have keeled over in my seat as we were told "we will be there in a minute" as she turned around and returned to the waitstaff conversation. We waited another minute or so, got up and walked out. The kicker is we always eat breakfast there when at our second home and always tip 20% and their business truly slows down in the winter. Guess it will be a little slower in the future. The owner came running out of the restaurant and told us "and never come back!" He obviously was having a bad day or was not paying attention to the front of the house. Wow Mark, you must have failed the customer service class they offer on line! Way to go to lose a long time customer! Prices went up, service went down and the atmosphere and friendly waitstaff has cratered. Go to June's or Bakers Ponderosa food is good and they care about their customers!! read more

We have tried to like this place. If you want to eat in a dank, dark room with dusty bric-a-brac hanging on the walls since the 60's and be ignored by ill-trained personnel (including the owner) while locals walk in and get served, then this is your place. We have been the only customers in the place and literally have to wait for them to feel they're ready to approach your table. Have tried to like this place four separate times. The food is average but ok, the wait time for food and the overall service is horrible, in conjunction with the attitudes of the owner and workers it makes this place avoidable. The entirety of the place is "meh" bordering on "ugh" and is creating a buzz around the area that it is a place to drive by, not stop and give them the obviously much needed cash to survive the coming economic crush. But who knows, maybe the locals who buy a cup of joe and a danish can keep you open. There are other, more positive options, available nearby. Btw, we are local, we choose not to look that way. read more

Went to breakfast here Sunday morning. It is much bigger inside than it looks eleven though the parking lot was full it was only about a ten minute wait. They are not used to the high volume for any length of time so we heard some folks complain about how long it took to get food. We did not have that problem and both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Eggs were cooked perfectly, request for crispy bacon was done as asked, and allergy to eggs for the person I was with was accommodated with a smile. Now if they only had coke products instead of pepsin they would probably get a five star review from me! the inside has a very fun western theme with barbed wire holding up hats, boots and all kinds of other items. Visiting family in Overgaard, we decided to go out to breakfast. We had heard of this place so we thought we would try it. My wife had her usual French toast, I had "the woodshed", my son had the Spanish Skillet and my daughter had the egg and bacon breakfast. "The Woodshed" is 3 eggs, 4 bacon, 3 sausage, hash browns or home fries and toast. Everything was cooked just right, the bacon was thick, cooked well, and tasty. The sausage links were flavorful and had a good bite. Hash browns were also cooked perfect, with a soft potato inside and a crisp fry type outside. Loved it. My son really like his skillet of eggs, cheese, onion, home fries, jalepeno, um...and other stuff. I guess you can check the menu for the Ingredients. All I know is that not only did the little foodie like it, but my daughter finished her sizeable plate. Which is odd for her. My wife enjoyed her French toast and my in-laws said they liked their breakfast as well. I will definitely go back. We were seated right away, orders taken in a timely manner, and our food was out quick. read more

My family and I always enjoy eating here. The eggs and bacon are excellent. It can get very busy during the summer so service can sometimes suffer just a bit. It is a good place to eat with kids....very laid back and relaxed. My children enjoy the pancakes. They are big and fluffy, although this time my daughter's was a little overdone around the edge. First off. I didn't expect much from the appearance but my family and I were hungry and heading back home after the weekend. We stopped in the woodshed. The cook and I'm guessing his wife were yelling at each other very loud. Enough that we could hear most of what was being said and made us feel very uncomfortable. My wife had biscuits and gravy and said they tasted like they came frozen and in a package. I had a skillet and a side of hollandaise. I know I said I didn't expect much but this was awful. Nothing here is made fresh, the employees were yelling at each other, and they seemed to be understaffed. The waitress we had did a very good job and apologized for the food and the "noise". Other than the service, this place is a waste of money and time. Do not eat here. read more

Wood Shed is dependable breakfast fare. Don't let the outside discourage your entry. Inside, you'll find stained concrete, plenty of wood wall decor and lot's of tacky faux western memorabilia. It makes for a warm experience. Eager, attentive help overcomes the limitations of a 1-2 cook kitchen. I've only been for breakfast. Pancakes have nice spongey texture, skillets come with fried potato chunks. The sausage and bacon are par. The breakfast ham is a very wet cure. Here on vacation. Found this great little spot for breakfast. My husband had the LG biscuits and gravy and really enjoyed it. I had the senior meal, nothing special but it was good, I opted for the biscuit instead of toast, good choice. Prices aren't bad either. read more

The Woodshed Cafe is under new ownership as of sometime in 2018. I had been boycotting the restaurant due to their $1 fee to use a credit/debit card. The new owners (Bo and Christina) do not charge this fee. The service is quick and friendly. They have the same menu as the previous owners, however, they have an insert with new (and delicious) dishes. The chorizo they use for omelets, etc. is the best I've ever had. The breakfast chimichangas are amazing. I would definately give this restaurant a try. read more

Don't let outside appearances fool you. This place is so quaint inside. Bring your appetite though because the portions are huge. The food is absolutely delicious and the service was so friendly and fast. I only wish they were open for dinner, too because we would come back tonight. Descent breakfast although I felt it was a bit over-priced for the portion size. Nothing fancy, just downhome cooking with a very friendly and attentive staff. Don't judge this 'book' by it's 'cover'. The exterior may lead one to believe this is an actual 'woodshed' or some type of manufacturing business. But the interior has a very homey feel and is quite comfy. Worth a stop if your in town or passing through. read more

Do not be deceived by the outside exterior. The interior is clean and well decorated. Service is spot on. The food is home made, cooked perfectly and healthy. Boy has this place gone downhill. Our men's breakfast club used to go here one a week (8-12 men). The wait staff changed (Karen is know longer there, she was fantastic). The new staff are rude, unfriendly, incompetent. After three recent breakfasts, we all agreed to go somewhere else. This place has made a 180 turnaround with the new ownership. We used to come here because it was pretty much the only place in the area. We now come here because we love it. The coffee is no longer coffee flavored tea, it's real coffee! The menu is still being updated, but the quality and flavor of the old menu items are much better. Love the new pancakes!! They have a hint of cinnamon. Today, we're told at breakfast (my husband loves the Chorizo skillet), that the woodshed had game burgers available, just not on the menu yet. We called in an order to pick up for dinner. We had the Bison and Elk burger. Sooo good. They also have Boar and Venison. Do yourself a big favor and check this place out!! New owners are awesome! Food was just ok but the service was terrible. The place had very few customers and the waitresses seemed to be overwhelmed. One waitress said "And we thought today was going to be boring".. Had to ask for refills on coffee, and was basically ignored the entire meal. Never again. read more

Then....20 minutes later we asked a server who was passing our table if we could place our order and we were told, very condescendingly, that "it's gonna to be awhile because there are other tables in here that we're here before you." Just went for breakfast. It wasn't busy. We were seated promptly and served right away and that's when service stopped. Bacon was burnt and coffee was luke warm, otherwise food was good. Waitress never came by to ask how things were or if I needed coffee topped off. I was finally asked after I had finished eating, I declined. I was plainly done since napkin was on my plate but plates weren't cleared. Sat there for 15 minutes. I could see waitress throughout meal and after standing at counter awaiting food, while she could have checked on us several times. Plates were finally cleared when she chided a young waitress for walking past our table and not clearing it. Yet she passed us at least 8 times while going back and forth to other tables. I usually tip 20% even with sub par service. This was so bad I didn't leave a tip. read more

We were surprised that it is so cute inside, as the exterior is deceiving. We had the French toast, hash browns and eggs. Everything was really good. Service was good also. Was in there today for our first time with my wife and I agree with others this place has bad customer satisfaction when they are busy. Waited over 30 min for server to place our order once sat and given drinks. Watched as she did everything else, like butter toast, cash out tickets, and everything else but place our order so they could begin preparing our food Seemed others in the establishment were also frustrated with the wait as well and appeared to be our server's focus vs us. Even when told one more thing and she would be right back to us continued to do her other chores rather than wait on us and place our food order.. We felt ignored and felt if the server was this busy we would most likely have to wait twice as long for our food if that is the way this whole place runs. I intended to leave peacefully and try them another day so stood up and finally decided to just pay for my soda and go to elsewhere. On the way out was charged $1.90 for my soda, and an additional $1.00 because I used a debit card. No one seemed even surprised we were walking out. Aggravated I called back to advise the owner, and the owner who appeared to have been there also obviously overwhelmed with the day was more concerned in proving me wrong than listening so I just hung up. Won't go back. Went to Junes and was served ate and on the road in 30 minutes even with a fully packed house. read more
