DO NOT RENT HERE! PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS BEFORE RENTING.
Upon first moving here, we had a previous manager who was very kind and helpful. After a few months, she had transferred, and everything got increasingly worse. We started having a mysterious leak over by the washer/dryer, in which maintenance asked "are you sure it wasn't your cat?" (because, obviously cats leave soapy liquid in the middle of the floor). Upon it being "fixed", it repeatedly happened. Then, our sink completely flooded out of nowhere. There was disgusting orange, foamy water flooding from the sink, all over the floor. After, our wall had to be cut into in order to be dried out. The process took several days to be fixed. The sink never leaked again, however, the mysterious washer leak was still happening. After about 2 months, I started waking up with bites on my face, arms, and legs. Cracks were found in my bedroom corner, which was assumed as the main issue. I was told that maintenance would come in and fix it, which they never did. I put a piece of tape over the corner, yet was still waking up with bites. I was knocking on the leasing office's door EVERY SINGLE DAY, with no response. It appeared that even during leasing hours, nobody was in the office. It took calling the corporate office to get fumigation to come in. They did a full inspection, and found nothing. The bites persisted.
Now, here's where it gets worse.
We had been there for nearly a year. We received the email asking if we would like to renew our lease. You can guess what our answer was. I tried knocking on the door several times per day to let them know that we were searching for a new apartment. No answer. I tried ringing the Ring doorbell located right next to the door. It was disconnected, and did not work. I tried calling the leasing office numerous times, just to get no answer. Upon finding a new apartment, the management at the new building struggled to get in touch with Woodbridge in order to secure proof of tenancy in not only several emails, but also several phone calls as well, just to receive no response. We had to provide a copy of our signed lease to the new apartment in order to establish proof of tenancy at Woodbridge, which was thankfully accepted.
After 2 weeks of restlessly trying to get in touch with them, as a last resort, we emailed the leasing office on December 19, 2022, stating that we would not be renewing our lease, and letting them know that the keys to the apartment would be left on the counter. Around January 4th, we were fully moved out.
After being called by Woodbridge Gardens numerous times, asking for our move out paperwork, I went back to give it to them. Shockingly, someone answered the door (after knocking at least 3 times, the last time as heavily as possible), just to inform me that we had already been billed for our move out. I was expecting maybe a $300 charge for cleaning, as we left hastily due to the way we were treated. Unfortunately, I was way off. Two weeks later, we received a heaping bill of $3,144 for our move out. Our security deposit was taken, and we were charged for an extra month of rent and utilities, keys not being returned, and, most of all, a $2,800 bill for "30 day notice fulfillment". We contacted not only Woodbridge Gardens, but Garden Communities (the corporate office), trying to dispute this, including proof of the email sent. They responded stating that because EACH tenant did not individually email to state that we were moving out, we did not give 30 days notice. We pleaded with them, just to be told that there was nothing that we could do except write them a big fat check. We began researching small court to see if we could fight it, and in doing so, were also looking for a new apartment, as our current one is too expensive. Upon applying to new apartments, we discovered that Woodbridge had put marks ON OUR CREDIT REPORTS, stating that we not only owe them money, but did not supply a 30 days notice. We are unable to apply for any new apartments because of them, and were forced to shell out $3,144 to repair our credit in order to (hopefully) be able to move to a more affordable place. Long story short, do not move here unless you want your items, and your credibility, destroyed. read more
