How about the pickled beet salad or the wedge with crispy prosciutto? Yes, absolutely. Will you be getting the fig n' pig or goat cheese and roasted red pepper pizza tonight? Umm, both, with a dish of fresh rigatoni pasta with vodka sauce. Any interest in tiramisu or zeppole? Next time, but a scoop of pistachio gelato would be delightful. We all traversed the inclement weather on the evening of December 19th to West Dundee to have one last hurrah together. Our group of 8 was supposed to be 9, but 1 missed out or did he..... we trickled in 1 or 2 at a time until our table of 8 was full. Our server a disheveled man who looked beyond miserable, beat down, and sounded like it came to our table with his Eyore voice and slapped menus down and asked for our drink orders and we asked for more time since some of us had only just sat 30 seconds prior to him coming to the table. This was the first and only pleasant part of Matt J.'s personality if there is one during our dining experience and he still seemed annoyed at bare minimum. Now before things got too much further, I simply asked our server when he brought my drink, "if anyone upon arrival had asked for the check to be split or could be split and if not could he"? He said and I quote" We don't do that here" and proceeded to follow that up with "I don't make the policy I'm just the messenger". I alerted the table with the news, I don't think the entire table heard me and we'll get to that. All drinks and food had been ordered, after this interaction he proceeded to get worse and worse, each time he came back to the table he made little comments if another drink was ordered and his anger was boiling over. The food and drinks most if not all the table seemed to be happy with their choices. I had the chicken ceasar salad and it was good. The drink was ok I had the limoncello martini, I wouldn't get it again. The pizzas I saw going around the table looked good and the dough/crust I tried from another guest was nice and chewy, not too thick not too thin. As I watched the group and server interact throughout the meal, our server you could tell was most annoyed and maybe having the worst day I just don't know. He was rude, short, and curt he kept grabbing things and grazing one of our members head with the glasses and plates and the pizza trays to the point he was like what is going on. So after all was said and done, this server brought out a singular check, two members of our group were like we would like this split please who didn't hear the initial conversation when I asked. The server again started in on "We don't do this here and that it wasn't going to happen" he also then said parties over 8, we then said well we are just at 8. This too did not go well, so we asked him to leave the check and we would figure it out. Now it wasn't just that he was rude and seemingly displeased with everything this evening, he made us ALL feel unwelcome nearly from the get go and throughout the meal. It felt like we were a hinderance to his night that we somehow we were ruining it for him. It took us about 20 min to figure out that one of us would just pay the bill and everyone else would pay that person. If we could have tipped the bussers/kitchen staff/bar staff for making our things and cleaning up what Matt J. did not we would have. We weren't even brought water until we all had to ask. So unbeknownst to me the person who decided to take the check and cover the group, left a small tip, but at least he left one. The server took the bill and card walked away with it and ACTUALLY had the audacity the size of Texas to come back over and talk smack to our entire table after processing the bill!!! First and foremost if Matt J. had even a ounce of customer service skills he would have deployed some empathy and said look "I'm sorry it's not my policy, but it's one we enforce" or said "Hey, I'm not in charge here, but I'll ask" that would have been one thing. There was nothing written on the menu, nothing written on the entry door about the verbiage of will not split check at 8+ group, nor was anything spoken to the group as we were seated. Matt J. Had every opportunity to bring the KM or GM over and I was damn near close to asking for the manager after his little outburst. Do better, be better Matt J. read more

This is the third time in a road we order to pick up , and the same bs the power went off , that's what they told us at the pick up time , ( 5 or 10 more minutes ) and here we are 25 min later finally the food is ready , another time , sorry the pizza will be ready soon (20 min later that's not soon), and again pick up time , I am hungry and we gave you guys another chance but the same thing , you said one hour for pick up but the food it's not ready and always an excuse , plus the food quality used to be great not anymore , I don't want to wait for cold pizza . Met a girlfriend here for dinner one night. We had a great time. The atmosphere was wonderful. The staff was all great. The place is clean and modern and really cute. We split a pizza, a salad, and an appetizer. Next time I'll order a different pizza. My bad I'm probably not reading the menu all the way to realize that the pizza sauce was actually substituted with harissa. I expected the jalapeños in the hot honey, and all that and I knew it was going to be spicy, which is what I like. But the substitution of the pizza sauce took away so much flavor and just made it overwhelmingly spicy. Let me tell you, I have a pretty high spice threshold. So the spice was great, but the flavor just wasn't there. The chop salad would've been awesome as a big salad for dinner, but we decided to split it, as well as the whipped goat cheese and honey appetizer. The cheese and honey were divine, but I felt the toasts were overly oily and could have just been plain old toasted in the Woodfire oven. Will I come back here? Absolutely. By far this is the best gluten-free pizza we have had. It has the springy soft texture like a regular pizza, and the crust is not too thin like most of the gluten-free pizza. If you are very sensitive, I would recommend to ask about their handling. There's only one wood fire oven. read more

Ok, we have been trying to get back here for some time. We tried it when it was first open and it was good, but service was a bit iffy. Since then, it's been very crowded and once we put our name down, left to get a drink and never got a text! Anyhow, we visited recently and wow! Really great experience. First off we sat at the bar and Elizabeth took really good care of us. Very fun and friendly and even gave me a small sample of the drink special. I had the Aperol spritz and it was the best I ever had. I was impressed at all of the creative cocktails they offer and the care and quality in which they are made. Maybe next time I will go more exotic! We shared the meatball appetizer and the Margherita pizza and both were outstanding. The meatball was truly 'gigante', so tender and served in a tasty tomato sauce with delicious bread. The Margherita was textbook, cooked properly and made with quality ingredients. This was more than enough for dinner for two and we were quite hungry. I will be back to grab a bar seat and explore the menu for all its interesting options. read more

OMG. What an amazing meal. Tables are spaced nicely, staff is wearing masks - and the food was phenomenal! It's pricey - but you can tell you are getting fresh ingredients - and that's worth it. 3 of us shared the Tuscan fries, the steakhouse pizza and the BBQ chicken (without red onion), and for dessert - a crème brulee. Everything was fantastic. I mean, I may be fantasizing about the next visit. Our service was excellent too (I can't remember our waitress's name, but she was great). Do yourself a favor and stop in (or order to go!). We are trying hard to support local establishments during this rough time.... it breaks my heart that so many are struggling. Woodfire Dundee easily has the best pizza! I've had several different restaurants' Woodfire pizzas and they don't even compete. Great food and a neat location. I had the marguerite pizza and the dough was definitely in need of a few more minutes in the oven. (I realize the fresh mozzarella is more of a liquid cheese) and there were no tomatoes on it. It was basically a cheese pizza with fresh big pieces of mozzarella. My husband had the special which was five cheese orichette and the noodles were a little chewy. This place was absolutely amazing. I got the Lobster Pizza and it's authentic. The chicken is amazing too, especially if you love the crisp from fire cooked food. The pizza is delicious and also authentic. The Italian sodas are great. And the Crème brûlée is on another level. Genuinely the only complaint I have for this place is that its quite pricey. But the quality, and honestly the quantity of the food is good enough to look paste the price. Everything is worth trying! Their staff was very friendly and helpful. We had reservations a few weeks ago. We came in with less people than we reserved for, so they made us a new table, which would have been very accommodating if it didn't seem like it was a burden on the staff. And then we sat there for a good five minutes or so before anyone came over to greet us or bring waters. It was kinda disheartening as we were there for my nephew's bday and it's a neighborhood joint my friends like. I mean, we made a reservation. We were excited to eat there. The pizza was excellent. This place is amazing. They're currently closed for a week, so I am so happy I went the day before they closed. They don't take reservations on Fridays or Saturdays so it is a bit of a wait but well worth it! Just grab a drink at the bar across the street and you're fine. The best thing was honestly the Havarti Stuffed Coccoli and both the Mushroom pizza and Sausage Rosemary pizzas were a hit. We over ordered and had a bite of pasta before taking it home. Second visit here, will be last visit. Service was alright, a bit lethargic. Chopped salad was good, but I prefer my ingredients tossed. Just a suggestion, but did not necessarily detract from enjoying it. Opted for blue cheese dressing as I do not care for balsamic vinegar. The grilled chicken add on, however, was overcooked and dry. The server did not apologize, but only said "I'll let the kitchen know." I had it placed on a side plate, which she failed to remove. If a customer has an issue with something then the item should be removed from the table. Also, the restaurant culture I come from (as part of all server and managerial training) taught the "3 A's" when handling a complaint: Apologize, Acknowledge, Act. The lackluster acknowledgment was all I received. Here's my biggest issue...I dine out to relax and try to break away from life. I do not wish to dine anywhere that showcases social or political views whether Left or Right. They were all on board with pushing a socio-political agenda here with their display of "pride flags", flowers in "pride colors" and a ceramic rainbow at the host stand. I'd much prefer an American Flag displayed somewhere, as it represents ALL American People and is all-inclusive. I felt uneasy here because of this. I have no desire to visit any establishment that pushes agenda to alienate either people of the political Left or of the political Right. I just want to dine out. read more
