I placed my order over the phone. The 12" deep-dish pizza took about an hour to bake, so be prepared for the wait, but it was absolutely worth it. The crust was perfectly crispy, the cheese was rich and satisfying, and the sauce was flavorful without being overly salty. Highly recommended. I tried Dominick's Italian Ristorante and had some mixed reviews about the place. Walking in, it had a classic Italian vibe on the restaurant area. There seem to have some vintage pictures on the wall and the ceiling had a decorative art on it. Oddly enough, there was no music at the time. Sitting and waiting for the food to come out is a bit awkward unless you have some people to talk to. Our server Bebe was very kind and helpful. She kept our cups full and got us what we needed during the dinner. The food was good. I got the rigatoni Dominick which was a rigatoni in vodka sauce, sausage, peppers and onions. The portion size is pretty big compared to other places. The taste was good but I think might do well with either a spicer sausage or some red chili flakes. I did finish the plate but ended up having a massive food coma after leaving. I tried the rest of my party's dishes and had mixed reviews. I tried the chicken parm which had a sweeter sauce than I am used too. The calamari Dominick tasted very similar to their linguini Del Mar without the vegetables and some shrimp and mussels. Both sauces seem a little too watery for my taste. The bread they give you is really good though. It had a very crusty outside with a soft inside. Would I go back? I might go back but I might try the pizza next time or something else. The rigatoni was good but I started getting food fatigue after eating for a while. Maybe I had too high of expectations based upon what I'd heard from others, but I found this pizza to be extremely underwhelming. The cook on the pizza was excellent and the crust was really crispy, but that's about all I liked. The sauce and everything else was very bland. And it was also very greasy. Would not make the drive and return, there are many better options within a smaller radius of my home. Also, the first time we actually tried to dine in was on a Saturday about 20m after opening. We stood inside for a good 5 minutes and no one ever came out or even acknowledged that we had come in, so we left. read more

First time ordering pizza from Dominick's. It's located in West Dundee in a very large shopping plaza that seems very vacant. I had called in an order for pick up. We ordered a pan pizza and a thin crust. We also got a side salad and the tiramisu. The pan took 50 min to cook. It was ready as promised. We took it home and really enjoyed the pizza. The thin crust isn't super thin and not too thick. I really enjoyed the generous amount of toppings as well. They don't skimp on the toppings. The tiramisu was homemade and it's so delicious. Definitely will order tiramisu again. I will be back to try other items off their menu. Really enjoyed everything we ordered. read more

Truly a hidden gem. We called in for take-out after a long day at Santa's Village. Dominick's has great dinner specials, and everything else we ordered ala carte off the menu was terrific. Honestly, they had the best NY Strip sandwich I've ever had. The chicken marsala was delicious, and the pasta specials were good. Portions were generous. I think they gave us two full loaves of bread as a bonus? We only did take-out, so I can't speak well to the service, but everyone we interacted with seemed very friendly. My parents had been going here since 1977. It was a tradition that carried on with my siblings until recently. It was so sad to see that there is new ownership. This was all done very quietly and for good reason. The new owner Mr. Sandhu must have known he was not familiar with the tradition, food, or ability to maintain this once great established. The new owner has tried to uphold the image of an "Italian" restaurant but the food and service is all very different. You can tell the soul left this place. It was funny because each of my siblings said they didn't recognize the food and figured the new workers were just your typical low skill, cheap labor type of a move made by the former Gariti family, but that wasn't it. We used to really like this place. Now everything from sauce to the chicken tenders to the customer service is bad. The pizza wasn't crispy and lacked flavor. The chicken tenders didn't look or taste like real chicken and seemed to be manufactured... the honey mustard sauce was disgusting and smelled like it had expired a week ago. The delivery driver ran off with my money - and I had anticipated asking for change after including a 20% tip. Unfortunately I will be looking everywhere else for pizza next time we want delivery. Dominicks Pizza and Restaurante in a 20+ year old dual-purpose establishment in the Chicago suburb of West Dundee, IL I say "dual-purpose" as it has two adjacent storefronts in the strip mall on the east side of Illinois 31, just north of I-94. On the right side, you'll find the entrance to the dine-in restaurant, a smallish eatery serving traditional Italian appetizers and entrees. There are three rows of tables, maybe 15 in all. Maybe more. The ambiance is nice. Subdued lighting, tablecloths, linen napkins, abundant cutlery. A friend suggested it, offered to take me, it was a "special menu" night, but apparently, the regulars knew that they could order from the regular menu, as well, and some did. I have no complaints about what I ate, but I might have made a different choice from the larger, regular menu. Just sayin'. I don't usually go out for pasta. Just not dazzling enough, and I'm at the age where I think everything is expensive, and restaurant pasta would surely fall on that list. I can think of three outstanding, memorable restaurant pasta. The Cafe DeNapoli in downtown Minneapolis, which was open for 65-70 years, now gone. A restaurant in Soho in London. And some no-name place in Bratislava. Oh. One more. Hong Kong. Oh, and the Italian Village downtown Chicago is "OK" but getting kinda tired. But that's it. I've been to Olive Garden once, over thirty years ago, wouldn't think of going again, chain restaurants are just heating up the equivalent of TV dinners these days, made in some commissary a thousand miles away. Anyway. Dinners at Dominick's include soup or salad and fresh bread. Entrees run from $15 - $22 more or less. If you're going for a tomato sauce, you can choose plain marinara or a red meat sauce. Both are thick and on the sweet side. (Tomato sweet, not sugar sweet). I went with simple, spaghetti with meat sauce. I inquired about meatballs (I like to try them everywhere) and yes, they could add them. At the conclusion of the meal, I found they were $5 for two (in sauce), so I'm at $22 for (generously) $3 worth of food ingredients. I did like the meatballs. They are large and very dense. In the cross-section you'll note some herbs, I'm going to guess these are beef and pork, not highly seasoned, but because of their density, I'm going to guess very little bread crumbs or egg for binders. In all menu choices, the servings are large and most everybody I noticed took something home (me included, that's why you have the pic of the meatball). I didn't take pix in the restaurant, the tables are close, didn't want to disturb anybody for whatever couples talk about in quiet restaurants these days. I didn't try the pizza, and I'd like to. Prices for that looked competitive with other joints in the area, about $25 for a 16 incher. And I'd buy some ala carte meatballs if they offered them. The takeout menu is fairly large and includes many of the dinners from the dine-in side, but at a considerably lower price. They do not include salad, and perhaps the portions are smaller. Dominic's is a fantastic family run business that makes you feel at home. With its Sicily-themed decor, and friendly and attentive staff, the intimacy of the place is very comfortable and familiar. We've had nothing but good service, and the food has been consistently good. They have excellent bread, there. Pazones are good, and their Parmigiana Dinner Veal Patty, Chicken or Non Breaded Eggplant is good . They will help you customize to your tastes, within reason. I am giving 4 stars since my experience with Dominick's has been mostly great over the last 10+ years. When I ordered your pesto pasta (one of my favorite dishes) last week though, it fell far short of expectations. Usually there is plenty of pesto sauce. This time there was practically none. This is one of my favorite mom and pop restaurants in the area. You cannot go wrong here. Everything from homemade pasta dishes to PIZZA. They have an array of Desserts from cannoli's, HOMEMADE Tiramisu and Italian Ice. The owners are from Sicily and the family recipes are amazing. I have never had bad service or a bad meal here. The staff is mainly all family and they provide excellent service. If you're in the area, stop in. I think you will be impressed. Perfect place for a first date.
