I highly recommend Woolfson Eye Institute! About a year ago, I had monovision LASIK at LasikPlus, and unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience. I didn't feel that my questions and concerns were fully addressed, and I was not happy with the results. After that experience, I decided to seek a second opinion and found Woolfson Eye Institute. From my very first appointment, I felt safe and confident. The doctor took the time to listen to my concerns, answer all my questions, and explain everything clearly. After a thorough evaluation, I decided to have a LASIK enhancement with Woolfson Eye Institute, and I am so happy I did! The procedure was a success, and I am extremely happy with my results. The doctor is very caring, attentive, and always takes the time to answer all my questions and make me feel comfortable and informed. If you're looking for a doctor who has something of a bedside manner, or even a modicum of respect and listening skills, Dr. Brody IS NOT YOUR GUY. The person who referred me had said, "He's a smartass, but he's good". I had hoped to be a candidate for the TRIFOCAL LENS that I'd heard was so transforming. I was not, and I'd still need reading glasses post surgery. My decades old Radial Keratotomy surgery had left scars on my eyes, and that left 2 other LENS options. I opted for the TORIC LENS surgery, and scheduled the surgeries for each eye. I saw 2 other drs. for my 2 followup appts. for logistics reasons, and another with Dr. Brody on July 18th. We had a cruise departing Aug. 18th, and I wanted to know how much my eyes might CONTINUE TO ADJUST post surgery. It was clear, as anticipated, that I would need reading correction, but my distance vision had been really off during our drive there. His answer, "You just had RK surgery". I looked at him blankly, quite confused, and tried again to ask my question. From no more than 2 feet away, he barked, "WHAT?! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT RK STANDS FOR?!" I answered that it stood for Radial Keratotomy, then looked at my husband and asked, "What is he talking about?" My husband said to Dr. Brody, "You keep saying that she just had RK surgery. She didn't. She had Toric Lens surgery." Without an apology or change in tone, his response (I kid you not), "SHE JUST HAD RK/TORIC LENS SURGERY", a procedure you won't find in any of Woolfson Eye Institute's glossy brochures, and clearly something he made up to cover his gaffe. His demeanor was nothing short of menacing and humiliating. I can easily say that in my 73 years, I have NEVER been treated so disrespectfully and unprofessionally, by anyone in the medical field. That appt. was on July 18th, 2025, and I still wonder if it was all worth it. The absence of cataracts is great. And that is likely all that should have been offered to me. Sometimes, the most accurate thing to say is, "We don't have anything for you, given the scars on your eyes, beyond cataract removal" My floaters are much more pronounced, and oncoming headlights at night are jarring. I wear my new glasses/prescription all of the time, and will go back to my previous optometrist for future needs. While most of the staff may be awesome (including Surgical Coordinators, Jennifer and Amelia), Dr. Brody should be avoided. His ego precedes him. read more

Had an appointment there which was canceled a day before with no explanation. Made an appointment later on and drove from Monroe to Atlanta left 2 hours early and got there 31 minutes late for an 8:30am appointment and was willing to wait but was told no I have to reschedule and couldn't be fit in that day because she was "also running a little behind". Someone who doesn't care to at least speak with the patient in person and turn them away isn't someone I want working on my eyes. My husband started the process of having cataracts surgery at the Marietta location. However, we had to come to this location for a follow-up visit the next day after his eye surgery. We were told that there wasn't a doctor available at the Marietta location that day. Due to the major mess of road construction on 285 in Atlanta, the GPS really had a rough time getting us to this location. That was actually the only negative thing about this office visit. Vanessa at the front reception was very nice, welcoming, professional, and friendly, and she made this visit worth the drive. She assured us that she understood why we were a few minutes late. She even came out to the lobby to give us directions to the restrooms when we were leaving.l The office area was nice and the rest of the staff was pleasant as well. The doctor may be good - he is certainly avuncular - but the staff is horrible. They will not respond to requests for appointments (a simple initial consultation) and they are careless beyond belief with patients. Unfortunately, my wife is a patient here. My sight is precious to me and I simply cannot risk it to a medical practice that is so careless. If they are that careless and indifferent in simply booking appointments, I imagine their procedures are handled in a similar way. His office never informed me that the eye exam required dilation. Could barely see driving home. Cataract surgery at Woolfson Eye institute left me worse off than I was before the procedure in 2022 under the promise of "better vision" "it'll change your life" "you'll be really happy with the results" and "these are the best lenses there are". The Dysphotopsia (+/-), glare, halos, flare, starbursts, ghosting are so bad that I cannot drive at night, and I struggle driving in the daytime due to the swarm of obstructive floaters, cloudy/foggy/hazy vision that, when hit by light, washes out my entire field of vision. My right eye is so bad that it's always fuzzy like there's something in there. Left eye isn't much better, being the most out-of-focus and blurry. Neither eye sees clear/crisp, and my vision is always smeared, like an oily film making the world appear blurry/smudgy. I now have severe dry eyes and need eye drops all throughout the day/night. I often wake up completely clouded over and can't see a thing. It always feels like I've been wearing contacts all day and I just want to take them out but can't because this is just my crappy vision now. Doc told me I could "throw my glasses away." I then had to get 3 different pairs of reading glasses: 1.25 out to 3', 2.0/3.0 to see up close within a few inches, then need Rx glasses to see clearly overall which help very little, but at least a little better than seeing without them. Also, now on my 3rd Rx in as many years because my crappy vision just keeps getting worse. Yep, fully dependent on glasses again. I saw better before this procedure when I was wearing glasses/contacts full-time, and I saw better immediately after the procedures than I do now. My vision continues to degrade, and Woolfson refuses to acknowledge any of it. Now they've just ghosted me and labeled me a complaining patient. They've not been able to offer any realistic solution other than: YAG that "might" help with the cloudiness, but then no possibility of a lens swap (also last doc described a YAG to me so barbarically that he didn't sell it - no way I'm letting anyone at Woolfson touch my eyes again). Other option is to get a lens swap (I have no idea what type because each doc there says something different) that'll sacrifice my distance vision and leave me stuck in glasses and still have cloudy vision. So, there is no real solution other than a trade-off of crappy vision for a different kind of crappy vision, none of which will fix any of the problems I'm experiencing due to this horrible procedure. Had a "follow-up" Lasik a year after the cataract surgery (because it took a year of complaining to Woolfson before they listened) that did absolutely nothing except made it all worse. My vision always out of focus and looks "fake," like I'm looking through a pane of filmy glass. Most days it's like looking through a dirty glass of water. I absolutely HATE the way I see the world and Woolfson Eye Institute is responsible. I've been asking for my money back for 3 years and they just ignore me. I paid nearly $10k out of pocket for this garbage and I'll end up paying thousands more someplace else trying to get it fixed - and likely will be dealing with it for the rest of my life. I feel like I went from 50 to 80 yrs old overnight. None of this has made my life easier like it was supposed to. The results of this procedure have added so much struggle to my life that I can no longer enjoy the things I once loved doing because my vision is so horrible that it brings me no joy seeing the world. I literally went to Woolfson because I wanted to see better when driving at night. They (Dr. Z) told me to my face that cataract surgery would fix that and correct my vision so I could live without glasses. I got the exact opposite: I see so much worse at night and am constantly swapping out glasses between readers and Rx. This "better vision" from Woolfson has had such a negative impact on my life that I'm constantly irritated, frustrated, angry and depressed. It's caused me so much anxiety and mental detriment that I feel like my life has been put on hold. Woolfson lies about what results to expect. They only care about up-selling you a product like a used car salesman to get you to do their assembly-line surgery, then get rid of you as quickly as possible before you figure out you got duped. Once you realize you got sold a lemon, they'll kill you with kindness until the statute of limitations runs out and then completely blow you off. My last visit (Dr Hays) was so toxic and condescending that I walked out on him feeling more deflated and frustrated than before. Woolfson has lost all credibility for me, and I have zero confidence in their ability to make good on their promises. I'll never set foot in Woolfson Eye Institute again but never stop holding them accountable for the detriment they've caused me and so many others. I hope this helps others in making the decision to have this procedure, and, obviously, I would never recommend Woolfson Eye Institute as a reliable establishment to anyone. read more

If you never have to contact them by phone, this is the practice for you. Your calls will be answered by voice mail, and they MAY decide to call you back. This review is for the staff at Dr. Walrath's office. I have been searching for a doctor to do a lower Blepharoplasty on me. I called to make a consultation appointment with Dr. Walrath, but had a few questions for the person who answered the phone. Thomas was the one who answered the phone. He answered so many questions of mine and was so incredibly helpful. I couldn't believe it. I determined that since I have dermal fillers close to my eyes that I wasn't ready to have them dissolved yet for surgery. But because of Dr. Walrath's excellent medical office staff, I will absolutely be getting a consultation and most likely a surgery with him in a few months when I am ready and some of my filler has hopefully faded on its own. read more

Not a great experience - it took weeks to get an appointment for surgery after my initial appointment. Office staff was friendly - but not responsive to my calls in trying to get surgery arranged. Wait times were long - on the day of my surgery there was contention between the staff (they did not hide it well) I had some complications- this brought me back for repetitive after appointments. The Dr. seemed bothered to have to tend to the complication (which was no fault of mine). I was left with an imperfect view - and will not be returning to this practice for the other cataract removal. read more

Terrible experience on multiple levels! 1) Verified on 2 occasions with the person who schedules and who checks you in that they had verified that my insurance would cover both the evaluation and cataract surgery with this group. I was told that this was the case, until 1 week before my surgery when I was contacted and told that it would not cover their facility. Had to start all over again, delaying treatment and costing me extra, and was still billed for my evaluation. Billing coordinator said they do not verify what insurance covers in advance and that I should have done so despite my being told repeatedly that they had verified this and everything was covered. It's a great scam: they get paid for the eval whether or not they can do the surgery. 2) The evaluation itself was terrible. The doctor cut my appointment short, taking a personal call from his daughter in the exam room (it was clearly not an emergency) while I and two interns waited on him to finish chatting with her. After he hung up with her, he walked out telling me that he was sorry we didn't get to talk about the actual surgery more. I was given almost no information. 3) After my evaluation, there was no follow-up from their office like I was told there would be. I eventually contacted the surgical coordinator to get more information - almost none of it in writing, and eventually, to schedule the surgery. May be the worst experience with any doctor's office at every level that I have ever had. I will be contacting my insurance company to file a complaint against this practice. please do not choose this group for your eye surgery. I went in to have two cataracts removed and lenses placed that were to replace my need for glasses and contacts. I am now six months from surgery and my vision is terrible. A visit to a retina specialist revealed the wrong lens was place in my eye by Dr Brady. The lenses cannot be removed. also emerged from surgery with a hole in the macula of my left eye. up until now, glasses have not been an option for me. I have communicated with Dr Woolfson who responded that "they did nothing wrong." even though retina specialist said, " they should have sent you to me first." A demoralizing and insulting visit. I have years of experience in healthcare, so my expectations are pretty grounded. Woolfson also advertises that they work with insurance. If you're in a hurry, just read #4 and #5. 1. My spouse and I waited nearly 2 months for a consultation. We prepared by watching all educational materials sent to us and consulting with our insurance company before our visit so we could make relatively informed and rational decisions. Woolfson's educational materials said they work diligently with insurance companies, so it seemed in our best interests to be informed. 2. We drove more than 2 hours to make our appointment that was scheduled at 12pm. We weren't helped until 1 pm. 3. We were put into an exam room at 140 and told that the doctor would come in 10 minutes. He didn't come in until 3. 4. Doctor comes in and says my spouse needs keratoconus treatment in both eyes. We agree with the doctor and wanted the procedure he felt was needed. Trying not to waste time, we said our insurance would only cover the FDA-approved version of the procedure that Woolfson offers. Then he shifts his tone. The doctor then decides to tell us how insurance almost NEVER covers this procedure, that each eye will cost $10,000+ in overhead before he even can even BEGIN to charge his fees, and that he has a very full caseload of hundreds of patients. 5. Ok? Why advertise and imply a higher success rate of coverage if it so rarely happens? I checked your prices on Reddit, and the highest was $16,000 for two eyes. Big difference. Also, why is this being communicated only after you've been guaranteed $395+ payment for this visit? 6. We told him that we both work in public service and that our relatively robust insurance was the only way we could reasonably afford this. My spouse clearly was affected by the pressure to act and the ballooning costs. He then shifted his tone and told us to come back in 6 months to see if we could find the progression needed to get prior authorization. 7. Had Cosmetic Bilateral Upper Belpharoplasty procedure done 6 months ago. It doesn't look like they have done anything. I still have excess skin around my eyes and no eye creases. I reached out to them with pictures of my current looks requesting for corrections to be done. They said they would be willing to do so but I would have to pay for procedure all over again! I was told by operating surgeon it would take up to 6 months to heal and the new look would last 5 years or more. It is very clear they won't and can't stand behind their work. I strongly discourage using Dr. Brian Cook associated with Woolfson Eye Institute. I had cataract surgery with him last August 2021, paid $3400.00 for a specialty lens that left me blind in my right eye. My insurance was also billed $1200.00 the allotted amount for cataract surgery coverage for a total of $4600.00 for ONE eye. That eye was completely blind, unable to drive, etc. It was determined a "rare issue" so I was led to believe I would be refunded for the faulty lens. Had that lens removed and a standard cataract procedure done in both eyes, and I still can't see. I paid for the additional surgeries and after having to speak with the office manager, Jamie numerous times I received a check for $960 ish dollars as a replacement for what I paid almost a year ago. I am extremely disappointed with the Woolfson Institute. My eye optometrist sent me there for a consultation about laser surgery. I was told my insurance would pay for everything and my surgery would be at the same office. Then at the next visit, I was told my insurance would cover part of it and I would be charged $2,600 per eye. Later I received a call saying my insurance would pay for nothing, and I would be charged over $5,000 per eye. This, after 2 weeks and 2 visits. I don't know about the surgeons, but the staff was very misleading and I wasted 2 days away from work taking eye exams and seeing doctors before they had any idea what my insurance would pay for. I've had a kidney disease and have very poor vision. The got me excited about improving my vision, then blindsided me with an enormous quote on what i would have to pay. I would not recommend this place for a pair of contacts, much less any kind of surgery. Stay away from this place unless you like having the rug pulled out feom under you after being inticed with the hope of finall being able to see. I would recommend Woolfson Eye Institute to anyone and everyone. I got lasik one year ago here and had the most amazing experience. It wasn't painful at all, I had a little bit of discomfort about 2 hours after the surgery, but took a nap and when I woke up, there was no pain and I could see every leaf in every tree. Dr. Woolfson is so comforting and educated about what he does, he calmed my nerves and answered every single question I had, even the stupid ones. If the Michelin star rating was given to businesses, this place deserves all three stars. 100% worth the trip, regardless of where you live. I would be seriously concerned with letting this facility operate on your eyes. We scheduled an appt in November, appt was canceled with no reason twice, which put the appointment at the end of December. Scheduled cataract surgery for 1/9. Made multiple calls to get explanation of pricing, no one called back, had to escalate to a manager. Wouldn't use our pharmacy, so we had to go to their pharmacy. Couldn't get an actual time for the surgery. Made multiple calls and sent multiple emails over a week, got many excuses. Went up there and sat in the lobby and they still couldn't answer. We cancelled the surgery and will go elsewhere. We don't trust them at this point. If they are this disorganized and uncaring of patient support, quality of surgery and follow-up is questionable. read more

First I need to say that the staff and Dr. Day are wonderful! However, they NEVER run on schedule! I had an 8:30 am appointment and wasn't taken in back until 8:50. I was passed around for several different tests (billable hours need to be maximized!) and didn't leave the office until 10:10. During that time I spent a maximum of 20-25 min with an actual person and most of my time was spent waiting. I saw Dr. Day for a total of 5 min tops! This is a scheduling factory. If you are old enough to remember aluminum siding salesmen in the 60's and 70's these folks at Woolfson wrote the book on scams. I had an appointment with the doctor and he diagnosed me as needing cataract surgery on my left eye, I was led into an office where it was explained to me that the doctor could remove it with a scalpel or charge $550 to have it removed by lazer as my insurance would not cover that. I was also offed a higher grade lens for an additional $2000 out of pocket which I denied. I agreed to the $550 for the lazer and was told to pay on the day of the surgery, As instructed I arrived at their office prior to the procedure and was told that I owed $2000 to proceed. Blew me away. The lady tried to tell me that I had said that I wanted the high end lens which was absurd and I told her so. They must pay their deal closers a commission as she was not very convincing. I imagine they get poor folks in there who just want the ordeal over and pay the larger price, NOT ME I know when I'm being scammed and this girl isn't even very good at it. Aluminum Siding Salesmen. She tried to get me to make an appointment to do the procedure with the original lens that I placed the order with but I just left disgusted. I am extremely disappointed with Dr. Walrath, the oculoplastic surgeon at Wolfson. The Atlanta Veteran Administration eye clinic referred me to Dr. Walrath to fix my sagging eyelids, a common problem impacting one vision as one ages. Dr. Walrath thought it best to raise the eyebrows and thus raise the eyelids in the process - a relatively routine process. The pictures I was shown to explain the process depicted a clean wrinkle like scar on the brow as a result of pulling up the skin on the forehead, tightening the area above the eyebrows, and thus lifting the eyelids as well. My eyelids are raised somewhat, but now I have a wide, light red scar across my mid forehead, and a ripple of skin under the scar. (Pretty ugly, according to my wife!) Now, six months after the operation, Dr. Walrath's advice is for me is to go see dermatologists and see if they can correct the appearance. I am going to ask the Veterans Administration not refer any of their patients to him. My other long term experience with Wolfson has been very positive. Dr. Leff and Dr. Day are great eye specialists, both highly regarded. But you should avoid Dr. Walrath. read more

I went to see Dr Douglas Day at Woolfson Eye Institute for 2nd opinion/consultation evaluation on March 9th, 2020. Dr Day spent less than 5 mins with me in his office. Before this visit, I sent my previous records to his assistant Maribel Switzer before visit. Whole idea of 2nd opinion is to get expert physician do his own assessment, review previous treatment, explain his office visit's finding and explain to the pt what next step of best treatment by existing physician and/or provide recommendation. Dr Day didn't review or discuss tests performed in his office, differential dx or tx options, my previous medical records of previous Ophthalmologist. You don't start treating patient in 2nd opinion visit...but he started treating me by saying "Stop Simbrinza, it's over killed my tx and follow up in 4 weeks and if your pressure is still high in 4 weeks then we will consider surgical option". Surgery?? What surgery?? That's wrong. I was hoping for good quality interaction and excited to see him but very disappointed with his poor quality evaluation and poor bad site manner "No hi or no bye and no time for question". I was shocked and confused when he stood up and started walking out of the office without asking if I had any question or didn't say bye". What a crazy bad side manner this MD has!! I am so upset and couldn't understand what just happened in less than 5 mins!! Before I realized and settled in his office...visit was over. I would have given minus 5 star if system had allowed.
