Let me start by saying I LOVE spa services and am a bit of a snob. If you are fine with a "fine" experience and have money to throw at it, then there is nothing that stands out as awful about the place. Prices dictate high end and the services and ambience are truly just MEH. I've tried on two different occasions. The first was a facial. Then hoped it was a fluke and went back for a head massage and deep tissue massage. I won't go back. You can find much better for much less expensive. read more

My partner qnd I went today for a couples massage that we booked same day. They were the only Woodhouse that had openings for same day couples. This is not the first time that we've been but this is the first time with our 2 masseuses. The ambiance of the place is quite nice. There's a nice small holding/quiet room with tea or water that you sit in while you wait for your service. We enjoyed our 50 min massages. I throughly enjoyed my minkyti facial with Paige. I appreciated her bubbly energy and skincare knowledge. I have to say that I was expecting the same relaxing, quiet atmosphere as the Bethesda location but Gaithersburg is much more lively, buzzy and 'in your face'. All of the trinkets and items that are present immediately upon opening the door caught me off guard. I even made the person at the check in counter laugh because she noticed my confusion - she explained how each Woodhouse is owned by a different franchiser so the set ups vary. The waiting area/relaxation room is small. There are two chaise loungers, and a few chairs with slidable ottomans. It just seemed tight in the room. The standard water and snacks were nice. I would've preferred tea but I'm not sure if that was an option since it wasn't offered. Overall the service from the check-in desk and aesthetician was fine but it seemed like there was some scheduling confusion throughout the time I was there which also added to the chaotic vibe. In the waiting I was even asked multiple times if I was who I said I was like I didn't know my name. My appointment started late but my facial was really nice. Paige was fantastic. This isn't the location I would came back to with the goal of relaxing; it would moreso be for a fun, pampering experience with friends. read more

I love this location, love all the neat boutique items for sale in the front. Those types of shopping areas always excite me for what treasure I could find. Love the locker rooms, love the furniture, love the bathrobes, love the spa relaxing/waiting area-- love everything about this place but just one major complaint-- my massage therapist gave me the worst massage I've ever had. I've been to this location one time before and my massage therapist was excellent. I should have asked who I had the first time as this last massage was a complete waste of money. Yesterday, I brought my fiancé in with me for a massage, he received an excellent massage by Daniel. My massage therapist was Lucia...and I have so many complaints I will just bullet them out: - she put hot stones on me without asking at first-- never had them before. They were way too hot and gave me uncomfortable chills all over my body when she touched them to my back. She asked me after placing them on me if I like them, I said they don't feel good on my back but I do like them on my neck...so where did she put them next? Right back on my back-- doh! -I believe her hands weren't strong enough to actually massage me so her only method was either to dig her elbow into my body or run her fingers across my skin-- nothing in between. I feel no difference in the knots in my body as an elbow to my knots make me tense up even more. -I've had hundreds of massages in my life and never, absolutely ever has anyone ever grazed my crotch at the top of my thigh until Lucia. Probably not on purpose but it was every time she went to the top of my leg...and made me extremely uncomfortable as most massage therapists tuck the sheet tightly around your privates as to not graze them with their finger tips. More training urgently needed on sheet placement and how to tuck tightly because this was NOT it -she oddly shared with me when massaging my toes that her previous massage that day was on a male young enough to crack his toes...A- none of my business and B: made me feel like she was saying I had old un-crackable toes. Either way, unnecessary comment and I'm in my 40s not 80s...and my toes still crack! Lol -I shared with her that I had just got back in the country from a three week family vacation and had done tons of walking so my feet were extremely sore. She asked what country so I did share that I was in Italy and Greece. She then launched into several personal stories from those two countries, while nice normally to share-- in the middle of my massage in a dark room while naked and trying to relax, felt disruptive. -I asked her to please use a little less pressure as she was hurting me with her deep elbow into my spine and she awkwardly laughed at me. -she had me take off my jewelry and put it into a glass dish which was fine. But then when my fiance and I were in the relaxation room, she gave me only a few minutes (5 minutes max) before interrupting our talking to ask for it back even though all my gold necklaces and bracelets were still in it. -When she would put the hot towels on me, she wouldn't lay them down gently...instead she'd drop the whole towel down from a distance which was startling to my skin/central nervous system as they were extremely hot. That also gave me the chills, something I've never experienced in a massage-- ever! Not relaxing, please lay them down gently! We spent $540...which the massages were supposed to be $200/each...I didn't want to make my fiancé feel badly so I didn't tell him about my experience until after leaving, so he did tip both of our therapists 20% each. I texted my normal massage therapist in Bethesda for a 90 minute massage as soon as I walked out the door. My body feels worse than before I went in! Hopefully the owner reads this as I think it's time for Lucia to retire. Her massages are beyond subpar. read more

Went here for a facial and it was everything you would expect in a nice spa setting. They show you to your locker and give you a robe and then I was taken immediately into the room without being offered any water or tea. That's fine. The aesthetician did a great job and it was your typical facial. The only thing I didn't like was that she never told me what she was doing. I prefer when the person tells you what each step is and what it does for your skin. I had no idea what was going on and I also never got any Eye cream, so I left with my eyes feeling very dry. Of course my face was very hydrated, but I didn't feel it did anything for my skin in the days following. There was no noticeable improvement or anything. Went in for a pedicure and was not disappointed. I was taken to a nice clean locker room and given a super soft robe to wear during my service. The waiting area after you change is fairly small and can be full if it's a busy day, but the seating is comfortable and it's just a relaxing atmosphere. The staff was attentive and offered hot tea and water. My nail technician Haruna was great. She seemed to know exactly when I felt like being chatty and when I just wanted to relax and enjoy the pampering. The nail area is pretty small, which is good so it's not noisy with other people chitchatting. But there was some kind of timer that was clicking that was a little bit distracting to me as I was trying to relax, but I'm sure it was necessary for the heated towels or whatever was going on in there. After my pedicure, I was taken back to the waiting area/lounge and was not hurried out. I was able to sit and relax for as long as I wanted, and was offered drinks again, and a warm neck rack to help me fully take advantage of the spa experience. read more

A friend gave me a 180 minute massage as a gift on a gift card last Christmas. The Woodhouse spa in Gaithersburg booklet was included, which said the massage was $190 which is what the gift card was for. I had also requested a specific masseuse when I made the appointment that I had had before who was really good and I was told I would have her today. When I got there, they gave me someone else and said that that person didn't even work on Monday. When I asked the manager about it she says I'm sorry, but that person doesn't ever work on Monday and everyone knows that. So I took the masseuse that was available. I realize these things can happen. I was the only customer in sight anywhere and I was sitting in the spa lounge waiting and waiting. My appointment was at 12:30 and they asked me to get there a half hour early which I did. They informed me they had no internet. Anyway at 12:45 being the only one waiting in the entire spa and no other customers there, I went out in the hallway to make sure they knew I had a 12:30 appointment. My masseuse was standing in the hallway she had been in and out of the lounge, I was sitting in waiting. No one ever called me. If I hadn't walked out in the hallway, I would still be sitting there . I ask her why she didn't say anything to me and I got no response whatsoever. I was not asked how I like a massage heavy, light, medium, nothing. Where do you want me to focus was the only thing that was said not hello good day nothing. I said my neck and shoulders and back. That was the last thing to be done in the least time was spent on it . I asked for more pressure it never happened, so I got a $190 foot and arm massage mostly. I thought to myself I'll take it. I've been waiting for this massage for a year and getting anything is better than nothing. Then I go out to pay. I'm told that my $190 for my gift card is no longer adequate because prices have gone up since my friend purchased this last Christmas. I had the Woodhouse spa book with me which says Swedish massage is $190 and it had the gift card in it for that. I told them they should honor that. The girl at the desk said we can't do that. The manager looked out of her office and said our prices have gone up ! I said look I didn't get the masseuse I wanted. I didn't even tell them that the massage wasn't very good and I asked them to honor the price that was quoted in the booklet I had along with the gift card. It was a $10 difference but it's the principle here. I wanted to do the right thing and tip the masseuse 20% so I gave them $100 bill to which they said we have no change. Then they said you have to go get change somewhere. A reputable business would've said will run and get that changed for you but of course not here so I walked down the street to the container store where I had to buy something in order to get change. I went back and gave them the cash $40 to tip my masseuse because that's the right thing to do but given how I was treated, given the massage I had, given that they didn't want to honor the gift card that's less than a year old and given the masseuse never even came in to get me. No one did, I will not be back and I recommend others think twice about getting a massage there. read more

First I would like to say that it's hard to find a nice couples massage place. I came here with my girlfriends for a baby shower day and have been here for my birthday that my husband surprise me for back in December . The service was so amazing for birthday that my body need some areas work on again and so was my husband. we came in thinking we book our appointment with the same people. We had one out of the two at the appointment. Wish they would had clear that up when we book the appointment and we could have maybe did another day. We both could tell after our service was done and it felt Like nothing had been work on our bodies like how it was a couple month back . Here we are day 4 and my body doesn't feel like it was work on right and my neck area is so tight . I truly though maybe it was because it was the last shift of the night or maybe they didn't understand we were looking for a deep tissue message but the amount that was spent we shouldn't be feeling like this our bodies. I had personal called to speak to the manager about our experince and I had told them at the front desk at our check out about our problem and The lady said she would put in a note and the manager isn't here right now . I called the following day and I spoke with the Manager so she called herself. I explain everything to her about our experience and she said that she needed to call her boss and run down there for me and with them and that she would get back to me. I kind find it interesting that she would need to call her boss and discuss on it if she was the manager of the facility. she reached back out the next day and basically told me that the boss is gonna give a $25 credit put onto the account and that they apologize for the experience and that there's nothing more that they could do with that and that that's the best that they can provide for us due to the experience that we had. I had ask that I would like to speak to the BOSS personal and explain to him about how my husband and she said that he's too busy between the multiple different stores that he has which doesn't have time to talk to customers and that she is the one that handles the situation. I did explain to the young lady on the phone that that's not how you truly run a business. The service that was provided for myself and husband didn't do anything for us and he answer was there is nothing more I can do for you . This is truly in my eyes a money rip off. She also told me bag the BOSS doesn't have time to call me or talk to me and hat she is the middle person . My husband and I truly love everything of this place and location but since the so call manager and boss think it's ok to take people money and not provide the service is truly wrong. Now we have to find a spot to fix the problems that they couldn't fix and they took over $300 for a service that wasn't even provide for us . The phone was left off as I will reach back out to him and see what else we can do and I can explain to him again about the problem but thanks for coming to our Spa and not much more we can do for you . . I did tell her again that isn't how you run a business and that he need to call me. I doubt that phone call will be made to me personal and here we are trying warn you guys that this place doesn't care to fix the problem. I came here last month for the first time with a friend, who made the appointment for us. Small place with a cute little shop inside. Clean locker room where you can change into the robe and slippers they provide. A separate area to chill and drink water after your massage. My massage was just okay. My massage tech completely forgot the level of pressure I requested literally 2 minutes after she asked me and started my massage. I gently reminded her, and she apologized and adjusted the pressure accordingly. She also began on my head, which I had specifically noted to avoid. It was brief, so I didn't bother to point it out. I understand she said she was doing firm pressure all day so she got used to it, but it kind of defeats the purpose of asking me at the beginning of my session and also filling out my preferences on a form online prior to the appointment (I.e. "areas of the body to be avoided" and "areas of the body requiring additional therapy"). I booked the "body balance" service, which is a 50 min Swedish massage. It was decent, but definitely not the best as she barely focused on the areas I had noted on the form (she did more of an even massage on all areas, rather than doing more on my back and legs as requested). I also timed my massage after I laid down/right before my tech came back in, and we ended about 5 minutes early (not sure why spas never give you the full time you paid for!) I paid $156 total after 20% tip (despite the so-so massage, I usually try to stick to 20% tip). Price is comparable to other spas I've been to, but level of service/skill could be improved. Willing to give it another try, but perhaps with a different massage tech. read more

Had a very weird experience and was told management would call but they have not. Had a Deep tissue massage with someone named Lucia. Horrible experience. Was not deep tissue at all. Seemed like she was untrained or unfit to give a massage due to the brace on her hand. Felt like someone was simply rubbing oil on me with the most gentle pressure and then randomly elbowing me in the wrong areas with no good strategy. She kept trying to turn my head in. Weird position and then made a comment that "you need to learn how to turn your head." She also didn't tuck the sheet correctly when doing my limbs and I felt very exposed and uncomfortable. Lots of weird breaks and downtime as well. The cherry on top- when I came out to pay I wasn't even planning on complaining was simply just not going to come back but reception asked me if I felt like it was a deep tissue massage because someone else complained about her as well. These massages are very costly and hard to make time for so was disappointed they didn't try to remedy it. read more

Wouldn't recommend. I have been to many places for a massage and services here are average and overpriced. AND I was charged full services for partial work. My massage was supposed to be 80 mins. Didn't start on time but finished on time. May facial was 30 mins, not 50 as scheduled. My wife scheduled for me and I didn't realize the cost. In total, it was $355. It wasn't until afterwards l, when my wife told me how long everything was supposed to be, that I realized I didn't get full services. Called manager and asked for partial refund. I was supposed to get 130 mins of service and got barely 100 mins. They offered $50 back, which doesn't even include tip I left Would avoid if I were you. EDIT: In response to owner, what do you call charging someone 100% for 70% work? Stealing? I very kindly asked for a 30% refund given your manager and staff admitted they didn't meet the times. I said that would make me happy and I won't leave negative reviews as that would improve my experience. You didnt agree, this the review. You should own your mistakes. I have been getting my hydra facial from Andrea and it has been sooo good. I love her attention to detail and the way my skin feels so refreshed with glow every time I finish with my facial. I have also been getting my massages from Olivia for a few years now and she's amazing. She not only is able to remove most of my knots but also makes my body feel so weightless after each massage. She can work in silence if you need or carry a light coversation as if you were longtime girlfriends. Smaller space compared to the one in Bethesda. The front entrance looks more like a boutique than a spa. Upon arrival, you change into their robes and your masseuse or facialist waits for you outside the changing room to take you to your designated room. I had a 50m facial there, but there was a period of what felt like a long time where I was just lying under the steam machine. It would've been nice if that time was occupied with a bit of a massage or something. Nevertheless, Woodhouse is the only place I can think of to take my friend for a nice spa day. They do have couples massage room if you want to be in the same room as your friend but I think since we wanted different services we were separated. read more

I really loved the professionalism from scenery, to robes, sandals, complimentary drinks and fireplace. It really sets the tranquility vibe. My favorite thing is the high quality fabrics like the sheets and the heated massage tables! However, the massage was more of a rub than a massage. This coming from someone who usually gets at least 1 massage a month if not two! I've been to many facilities and I would say it's the most high end aside from their massage service which defeats the purpose. Along with the most expensive facility I've been too. I really love massages with heavy hands and I thought putting that on my intake form; it was expected I'd receive that, but I did not. I'm unsure of the purpose of the intake form when the spots I request to focus wasn't met. I received a tranquil stone massage $150 + the 20% gravity. I never cheat people from their 20% tip. It was a basic full body massage instead of the focus points requested. Once I got my tea after the massage, I chilled around the fireplace and heard a group of 3 woman complaining that their massages were more like a rub then a massage. I wasn't alone in this feeling and that means 4 massage therapist in this facility are not offering high quality massages which is the point. I did walk away with relaxation and tranquility but the massage itself, I will now book with my normal massage place that's half the price of this business. I was blessed to receive a gift card from my sister, to get the experience to know that I'm not missing out on going to a high end massage facility like this one. I visited this location for a facial on February 23rd, and Dennis Gross was recommended. However, my experience with this facial was a disaster. My face was scabbed and peeled, and my skin looked like crepe paper. This reaction was not what I expected from a reputed service like yours. I called to speak to the manager and was asked to provide photos, which I did. The manager (Mina) was rude and condescending and spoke over me, which was not helpful. I called back and spoke to (Don), and he provided some gel that was supposed to help with the issue and took very little ownership of this problem. My skin continued to peel even after using this gel. Don never followed up, even after calling to speak to him. He would be conveniently unavailable, indicating they do not care about customer experience. Woodhouse has done nothing for me as a customer but avoids the situation. Manager. This should have been handled better and with the same rigor that is used when you make an appointment. Going to a spa should be a positive experience for you and I should not hear you selling me on the experience of others who had this facial. I recommend that anyone considering a facial think twice about it if they are looking for a five-star experience. The leadership leaves a lot to be desired. You would be better off doing your facial yourself. read more
