We had another AC issue and Woods sent out technician Brendon Tracy. This is the first time they've sent anyone out and I actually felt 100% confident in their findings and their diagnostics of what's been going on with our system. He took dozens of pictures explained everything in detail to us and even gave us tips for maintaining our system in a better condition and preventing future problems. I am 100% happy with this visit. I also feel like it was a good value for what we got. Brendon explained everything to the point where we felt comfortable with what he found and what he repaired and we're ready to move forward by handling some of the maintenance on our own. I had been using Woods Comfort Systems while under warranty and had never really been satisfied but out of habit I called them when my nest thermostat stopped working. The technician said the a/c unit wasn't getting power-I needed an electrician. So I called an electrician who said the unit is definitely getting power! The problem is your A/C! So I called another HVAC company and the problem wasnt power to the unit -in fact the problem was inside my A/C unit! The Woods Comfort technician totally misdiagnosed the problem! It was an easy fix! I will not be using Woods Comfort Systems ever again and am happy I found a new HVAC company. read more

So, we had a 4 ton HVAC unit that Woods installed in 2020... and we had it serviced by Woods each year... even though we were sold some additional part each year. Last year (2024), the compressor went out and had to be replaced... even under warranty, the labor was astronomical. This April (2025), the same unit with the "new" compressor went out again... a year later... and required replacement. I'm done with Woods... good luck with the systems being installed. read more

Robert came out and did my seasonal inspection. Since I was in meetings he handled everything with care and precision while still allowing me to do my work without any supervision or worries. Great service the only thing was I asked if they had new ozone and uv bulbs knowing mine needed to be replaced wanted to know how much they were he installed and then charged me 800.00 after he installed when i asked for pricing. Needed them but I could have gotten them cheaper and installed my self. I am a service manager in the commercial electrical trade and a licensed Journeyman. Fire service technician Eduardo Mendez knew exactly what the problem was, and made only one trip back to retrieve the proper parts. He quickly repaired the leak in the reverse osmosis filter and replaced a cartridge that was overdue for replacement. He showed up on time and was extremely courteous. read more

Parts for my unit are still under warranty. I needed the blower motor replaced ~ house/unit is just 2.5 years old. They had one in stock and could replace it same day. Great!! So I thought. The tech left to go get the part; there was no mention a fee would be associated with going to get it. When I called the office to inquire about the charge, Vickie was more focused on my dad's cognitive health- which is not an issue; instead of having her attention be with the techs lack of communication skills. You would be better off not calling Woods Comfort Systems for your heating and air conditioning needs and finding another company. read more

Beware of Poor Communication and Misleading Practices with Woods Comfort HVAC Services - I recently had a frustrating experience with Woods Comfort HVAC Services that I feel others should be aware of. Here's what happened: On a Saturday, I called Woods Comfort regarding a problem with my MrCool mini-split unit. The unit wasn't pushing out cool air, so I provided the necessary information about the unit when speaking to the customer service representative. I was informed that there would be a weekend service fee, which I understood. I then asked if the quote for repair would be free, to which she confirmed it would be. I also inquired about discounts for veterans or senior citizens, and she assured me that they offer them, with the tech providing a reduction based on the cost of the repair. I decided to wait until Monday for service, so I scheduled the appointment for Monday based on what I was told. When the technician arrived, however, things took a turn. He immediately informed me that they do not service MrCool units and that they did not have parts for it. He then began discussing a loud noise coming from the unit (which hadn't occurred prior and I did not hear it, not did it occur when I FaceTimed my grandson the HVAC tech). Throughout this interaction, I recorded the techs statements for reference. I mentioned that my grandson, who works in HVAC, had suggested potential faults, but he wasn't available to look at the unit himself as he was on vacation. When the technician handed me the work order he received from the office, he pointed out that it didn't even mention the MrCool brand, nor did it reflect the information I'd shared with the service rep during the initial call. I then asked about the veteran/senior discount, as I had been told it would apply. The technician denied this, stating that the discount doesn't apply to the diagnostic fee. But, I thought the quote was supposed to be free? Instead, I was charged a $95 fee. It wasn't even a diagnostic fee -- the invoice listed a "dispatch fee" and a confusing "environmental service fee," which made no sense, as nothing was done to impact the environment, nor did he even examine key components like the compressor or capacitor. The bottom line: be cautious and ask questions before agreeing to any service. My experience with Woods Comfort raised concerns about potential fraudulent billing and misrepresentation of offered services. The communication from the initial call was misleading, and the charges didn't align with the service I received. I strongly recommend others verify everything upfront, especially when it comes to service fees, quotes, and the types of units they're willing to repair. We had a disastrous encounter with Southern Temp Control in Wimberley who charged us $400 to replace a part we didn't need to replace, as well as cutting the wiring to our whole house fan (nope, he didn't disconnect it, he literally snipped the wire.) Anyway, one AC Vendor refused to come back and honor the work he'd done so we called Wood's Comfort. They offered us a free 2nd opinion and were so responsive and communicative! On a Friday Travis came out and quickly diagnosed the issue, explaining to us clearly, concisely, and confidently what was going on. There was something wrong with the control board (we always felt it was an electronic issue) but a part would need to be ordered. Monday, the part was in and Jayden came to do the installation. Again, courteous, professional, excellent communication. My husband generally doesn't offer an opinion but he said, "those guys at Wood's have the competition beat, hands down." I agree, we've been accepting small town, sub-par service but we didn't need to. SO glad I called them. read more

5 years ago I spend $10k on a new HVAC system. In those last 5 years I have had to have them come out and work on the system 11 times. Each time charging $90-$150 just for the initial check and that cost doesn't go back into the total cost like many other AC companies will do. They quite literally NEVER have the parts on their rig so good luck with any hope of a same day fix. I even had to call them out for trying to up charge my wife when I wasn't home. They tried to tack on over $100 extra for the "part pick up" fee ON TOP of their extra charge per mile driven to pick up said part. When I paid $10k for a system i just assumed it wouldn't require 11 separate technician visits to just keep it normally functioning. Who knows what the next issue will be but I'm sure it will cost me another $500 during the coldest or hottest time of the year. Incredibly disappointed with the quality of work and materials from day one. read more

Terrible experience with this company. The customer service over the phone is fantastic but the techs cannot be trusted. The issue at hand was that my heater wasn't turning on. The first tech came out and replaced the filter, added a wire for $80 on top of the $90 fee to just show up, replaced my filter and two days later, it wasn't working again. A second tech comes out, starts poking around and a loud spark set off, which blew the electricity to my entire condo. Next thing he says, "Your board is fried" says it might because a moth got in there. Now i'm wondering why the first tech didn't notice the board was fried when he was troubleshooting... So as a result of the second visit, I continue to have no heat and now no cooling as well. If anyone has any idea of how I should handle this situation, let me know. I'm tempted to just part ways, cut my losses and find a better company. read more

Having your air-conditioning unit go out when it's 101° and humid is an ugly scene in my house. Contacted Woods when the unit first started acting up and they got me on the schedule the very next morning. I am a member of their Goldstar program, which is really inexpensive, (don't tell them that.). By being in the program, service request are given priority along with other good benefits. They did not tell me to say any of this. I'm just reflecting on the fact that I found a really good company to take care of my heating and AC needs. read more

AC went out on Tuesday afternoon. Call my "regular" company and they couldn't help. Explained we have elderly in the home... still no help. Googled AC repair 24hr... and Woods came up. Called them, and told them I had elderly in the home and no AC. Woods arranged for a tech to show up at 8:45pm. Tech was professional, did what he could, but told me the AC compressor was shot. He checked the warranty and ordered parts. Because of the 4th of July the parts took an extra day to come in... but they scheduled the replacement for early the next day. Fast forward to JR Eklund and his assistant. These guys literally climbed into the bowels of unit. Pulled the compressor out and had the new one installed within 2hrs. Can't say enough about them! They did the job on a hot day without complaint and entirely professional. Definitely will be using this company again. Their claim of rolling out the carpet for royal treatment is absolutely true! Our AC stopped cooling over the weekend and we thought we'd try to call for service on Sunday morning just to get set up or leave a VM for return call. Surprised to have someone answer and would be able to get to our home in the afternoon! Wow! Since we weren't going to be available in the afternoon, we chose to have the technician out on Monday instead. Robert Mckinney came and found the capacitor was not functioning and got it fixed in no time at all. Since our 3 AC units were installed in 2002, we had Robert check the other 2 units just in case...all were functioning well! Our A/C unit stopped cooling, naturally, on a Friday night. We called first thing Monday morning for service, and learned that we are "Gold members", meaning weekend and night service calls are billed at the same rate as those during business hours. Robert Bender is easy to talk with and shares his experiences. When we determined the fan in the attic was not working and Robert was here for a "diagnostic" visit, he visually inspected our mini-split which was also not cooling and advised us to use our air blower to clean it out - which when we did, made us cold in that area of the house! Because the fan part we needed was back-ordered for 38 days, Robert retrofitted one to get our A/C up and going again. Woods was a five star response! read more

We selected Woods when we started our entire house renovation , both HVAC & plumbing. They came were always prompt courteous and communicative. Their scope of work evolved all new HVAC system, all new water lines from city connection throughout the entirety of the home, new sewer lines and gas lines. *one area was in concrete for the sewer line In addition to all the tear out of the old system/lines we had additional things added or replaced like the tankless water heater, a water conditioning system, and a lift station for the Rv pad. As you can tell this was a huge job, every step of the way each employee and office staff have been professional, informative and at times funny!! I cherish the laughs we've had with them along this journey! The quality of work is exceptional, being my own GC anything I needed to be changed or tweaked they did so without issue. We even went through them to order fixtures that we picked out. I feel as though the pricing, warranty and attention we were given was well worth every penny spent. This company has been a pathetic excuse for a company. Unfortunately, we didn't choose them. We built a new home with Caledonia and they are the contractors they went with for HVAC. A few days after moving in, our AC suddenly stopped working. A technician came by. He was hardworking and nice, but that didn't solve the larger issue. He discovered we had a leak (on a BRAND NEW system). He let us know his company would be informed and in the meantime we'd be topped up....and then crickets. Never heard from Woods Comfort. We expected them to quickly resolve THEIR ERROR especially with 108 degree weather in the forecast. Boy, were we wrong. 10 days later the same thing happened, and we got the same response. Just a top up and no urgency to fix this. we spend 3 days almost suffering from heat stroke in over 100 degree weather because of this company. Although their technicians are great, the company is awful. Please stay away from this company. We're considering legal action--that's how bad it is. read more

Woods Comfort has been in business for a very long time and we were fortunate to come to understand why. Made a late night request when a/c in a 1 year old house stops working and received a call by 8:01 am to schedule for that afternoon. Turned out our issue was not an a/c malfunction but was caused by a bad wiring job by the electrical contractor. Travis got us back up and going and dealt with the warranty side (by now we are outside the builder's one year) and will be back to deal with a change out in the breaker box (again, a wrong installation by electrician). Bottom line, the competence and professionalism of Travis Killian and Woods Comfort was greatly appreciated and we know where we will be lined up for all maintenance related matters in the years to come.
