BEWARE - this is worth the read. We had an unusual issue with our AC unit and Southern Temp Control was our first call "out." He talked about wiring, the thermostat brand (he doesn't like it) and finally decided after more than an hour that the electrical contact (outside) at the unit was corroded (it's only a few years old) and implored us to replace it. $400+ But since he clearly wasn't "certain", he also cut the line on our whole house fan, saying it "could" be the culprit and it wasn't really good for the unit to run it. Seemed sketchy but he was the expert and honestly, he's a bit scary. He promised that if this fix did not work he'd be right out to honor his commitment to us. 2 days later the issue was back, and he had his receptionist (daughter) return my call (I had supplied a code "low pressure lockout") to tell us there was a workaround-----hard reset of the compressor. I told her this was not good for the unit and while I didn't like that Rob Wolf could not come until the next afternoon, I accepted the appointment. 30 minutes later, she called back accusing me of hanging up on her (I certainly did not, I agreed to the time and said good bye.) Once again she insisted I use the workaround. She argued with me, and I finally told her I was not going to spend any more time arguing with her. I asked that Rob call me if he had more to say. The next morning I got an email from the receptionist letting us know because of my "abuse" Rob would not be coming on that day or ever. I insisted that having spent $400 already, he owed us a cure. He responded and told me he knew his daughter and I was clearly out of line because she said so. So, he's a hot head? Or maybe he knew he couldn't figure out the issue with our unit so he disavowed his promist to us? All I know is, we called Wood's Comfort System, and they were out the next morning. With a one shot solution. Oh, and they reconnected the wire Rob Wolf said he disconnected. It was actually severed; yep, he literally took snippers and just cut part of our unit's functionality right off. These guys are great, words alone can't not explain how good these guys are. They came out for a full service call. My Carrier 3.5 ton system was cooling , but was making strange noise . They identified issues with my HVAC system that other companies did not identify. A few examples , my return air duct is under size, this is not allowing the proper air flow. The system runs and cools but it causing it to run longer and use more power. the drain in the attic did not have any slope, so water was not draining. They replaced the start capacitor with a USA made Quality , capacitor. read more

Rob was awesome! Gave me his opinion over the phone based on my description of the problem. He confirmed an appointment time and got here almost exactly on time and I got a text and email confirmation of when he was on his way. He was very clear and upfront about the charges both on the phone and again in person and went to great lengths to make sure I knew what he was doing and what the problem was. Sure enough the problem was just what he thought in our phone call and was a quick and inexpensive fix since he had the part on his truck. In and out in maybe 45 minutes and our system blowing cold, and a great price too. Our go-to repair company from here on out for sure! read more

Southern Temp Control installed a new system this past weekend. Installation happened at the time promised and customer service/ interface was excellent. I installed a 30 amp cutoff switch next to the outdoor unit today (for techs to disconnect power to the service in the future, when working on the system). In the process I must have touched a thermostat wire against metal and blew a 3 amp inline fuse in the blower. Didn't know what was wrong, just that things weren't working. John called me on the phone and quickly walked me through where to go to find the fuse location and, as he was passing by our place on the way to another service call, stopped quickly to provide a new 3 amp fuse so that I could get things back up and running. In all seriousness, we compared prices before having Southern Temp Control out and they are extremely competitive. Beyond that, I continue to be blown away at the customer service, even after the sale....Highly recommend these folks for your Heating & Cooling needs!!!! read more

Who works on weekends? Southern temp control does! I called a bunch of different companies on Sunday and no one would even respond. Southern temp control was out to the house in about an hour. I really appreciated their quick response and would use them again in a heartbeat!!! Reasonably priced Update: so now I KNOW that Southern temp control is the BEST in Wimberley! The owner, Rob, was Quick to respond to my inquiry when my heater stopped working in 38° (wind chill 31°) weather today. Rain, cold, and a flash flood watch did not keep him from trudging to my house at 6:37PM to locate a short in the outside (brrrrr) unit. I have so much confidence in this man's work that I'm going to sign a maintenance agreement with him tomorrow! At $180 for two visits a year, that's pretty darn cheap to keep my CACH in top-notch condition. Thanks Rob! read more

We needed a new heat pump and Rob came out and performed a thorough survey of what was needed and provided a quote within a day. We worked on what I could do to save some costs, and agreed upon a final price for a high quality unit. He even helped me with getting a rebate from the electric company. The installation, most done by Jeremy, was top notch, using high quality components and everything installed according to code and done right. After owning a small business myself for 19 years, I found Rob did everything right, especially when it came to customer satisfaction. I can't thank Rob enough, and I truly mean that. After my heater went out on Saturday I called around and no one was willing or couldn't help. Next week, or two weeks out is mostly what I got. Rob called me back and told me once my power comes back on to call him and he would try to help me trouble shoot it over the phone. We spent almost an hour on the phone and FaceTime to correct the issue. This man was helping me out when he had no power at his own home. I was hesitant to do a couple things with high voltage but Rob reassured me on how to be safe and manage to get my heater back on. Two kids and a wife huddling in front of a space heater was terrible. As long as we have power we're keeping comfortable, but definitely would not have been able to put smiles on their faces without Robs help. Rob was very honest, polite, and was here within 2 hours after our call. After he arrived we realized we'd accidentally flipped the breaker and called him for no reason. I called first thing in the morning and he was able to come to the house very quickly on the same day in the morning, he got the A/C working and did a full diagnostic just to let me know the overall condition of my unit.
