I called, and a nice man said to just bring in the car. Harry is great! He said that they heard noises, but maybe it was just because of old oil. Then, after the oil was changed, he said, nope, it's something else. The oil change was done, and they also said that they could diagnose the check engine light problem. I could come back on Friday. So I did, and the wonderful Edgar fixed the trim clips and removed some yucchy stuff from my temporary fix. He also ran the diagnostics, but alas the results were the same as my cheap OBM-II. They're going to do a smoke test ($180) and figure it out. I jokingly asked if they could just use a cigar, and he laughed. He kindly explained how the machine worked. They get their parts directly from the manufacturer, which is good, and hopefully much less than the dealership. I told him that Land Rover in CO wanted $5000 to diagnose and fix the problem, and Edgar was incredulous. I'm delighted with service I received, and very convinced of the capability and honesty of the mechanics here. This is tucked away on Montauk Highway. Definitely a hidden gem, lol.

The transmission light is on and the car is having trouble switching gears/moving at a slow pace. The driver tells me to put it in accessory mode and switch the gear to neutral. He tells me to get in his truck. He proceeds to load the truck on to the flatbed. As we are on our way to the mechanic shop I noticed my daytime lights are on, I said hey you left my car on?, that can drain my battery, Tanner says it can't drain your battery. I had to tell him to pull over and cut off my car while it's on the flatbed. He pulled over and turned off the car. We now arrived to the mechanic shop. The owner asked Tanner to move the vehicle to the back where the bay doors are since the car isn't moving/driving. Tanner said okay, then proceeded to get upset and say "I hate when they want to park the vehicles in spot, the should move the car or push it into the back", I said "Why when you could just drive back more since your already in the driveway?", Tanner then asked me to go in the shop and I decided to stand in the rain and watch him unload my vehicle. He put the car into reverse and then moved the flatbed off the front tires. I did record this. I do hope all this unnecessary turning the car on in accessory mode and switching the gears didn't damage the vehicle more. I called to speak to the dispatcher/owner so they would know what happened, and the dispatcher hanged up, maybe by mistake, not sure but when I called back someone answered and then left me on hold. When I called the shop to voice my concern, the person who answered was extremely rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. We got stuck in Riverhead, NY on a recent weekend afternoon due to a power steering issue with our…read morecar. We submitted a tow request ticket on the AAA app, and Rapid Recovery Towing arrived at our location in about 18 minutes with a flatbed tow truck. They took pictures of the car before loading it onto the truck. Due to the relatively late hour (as most auto shops close early on the weekends), they couldn't take our car back to Queens, NY right away, but told us they would keep the car in their storage facility overnight and transport the car the next morning to our chosen auto repair shop. Rapid Recovery Towing called the next morning to let us know when they were on the road and their approximate arrival time, followed by another call when they were about 10 minutes away from the auto repair shop. Rapid Recovery Towing had also called the auto repair shop to inform that our car would be arriving, and of the issue with the car. Rapid Recovery Towing gets five stars for their overall great service -- a rapid response, and their timely, effective, and encompassing communications.
