I had a pretty good lunch while here. I opted for the petite fillet, Brussel sprouts, and a Caesar salad. My server was super friendly and took my order right away. When I received my food I was both happy and a little sad. The steak was perfectly seasoned but it came to me medium well instead of medium. It was so perfectly seasoned though I didn't mind it too much. The sprouts were lightly seasoned and quite delicious. The only reason I didn't finish them was because the salad was substantial. I almost don't want to tell you about this place because the secret will be out.... the crab cakes are insane! You have to go and try it on your own. My take out order was served in a pizza box for better travel! That was adorable! My only issue was the staff. This part of Delaware has an odd group of folks half of them seemed extra friendly (thank you so much to the man who showed me the take out area) and the rest of them seemed to be occupied with who knows. Today I was joining my friend for lunch at 11:30, I was politely offered a booth. I noticed that the table had streaks and sticky looking spots on it. I tried to get the attention of the waitress , she was getting the bar ready for day, so when I saw a male employee, I waved for him. I motioned wiping table. He came over with his cloth and berated me for waving him down to wipe the table. I mean anger poured from him. I was floored. It was "Frank" , apparently an owner. Well Frank the owner has anger issues, and he should have been polite to his usually very happy customers. For him to think it was ok to show his temper to me, is beyond comprehension. I can assure you he would not have gritted his teeth and passed a remark to my husband or sons. He was brave to show his temper to me a gray haired lady looking for a pleasant lunch with a friend. Besides the table being dirty, there were splashes of something on the glass that separated the booths. Clean your booths, be kind to your customers, do not verbally abuse women. read more

I made reservations for dinner and we had nice seating in the bar area. For starters, we ordered a bottle of Hall cabernet & the crab and spinach dip appetizer special. It was very good with plenty of crab meat and crustini bread for dipping. For dinner I ordered the pasta Isobel special. It was penne pasta, lump crab meat and baby spinach in a blush sauce and very good. My husband and daughter both ordered the 16oz ribeyes medium rare and were both cooked to perfection. For dessert we decided to share and ordered the half baked cookie and strawberry banana crème. The cookie is half baked with a scoop of vanilla ice cream drizzled with chocolate sauce. The strawberry crème is a whipped confection over a layer of bananas in a graham cracker crust topped with strawberries and blueberries. I've been going to valle's for 20 years (my parents even longer) and it still holds up! Some places I have nostalgia for haven't stood the test of time but this place has! There is something different about this garlic bread- idk what sort of magic they marinate their garlic in but it's always the main event. I got the special French onion soup which wasn't the best but still good, and the mini crab cakes. My dad enjoyed his steak as usual but was a bit salty this time. My mom ordered a half order of a chicken dish and loved it. My bf got the carbonara and was a bit disappointed since it was more creamy like fettuccine and less classic (he is picky on Italian food). We LOVE the strawberry banana cream and it's such a refreshing dessert. Thank you Mackenzie for helping us have a great meal! Asked for 6 oz fillet mignon medium rare came too done and nothing on plate except 6 oz blob of meat! No garnish, etc... also asked for asparagus and didn't receive.... Third time I have come here for a steak and they have yet to mess up the temperature. This time was their 9oz signature filet and it came out perfectly cooked. They use bacon in the mix and the only thing I'd say is it had a bit of stronger maple bacon taste but nothing so overpowering to ruin the meal at all. Either way, absent Houston White in Rehoboth, this has been my most reliable steak location. I'm a bit of a steak snob so if it makes me happy then easily it should be highly considered by others. read more

I was generously invited to celebrate mother's day with my future mother-in-law at this establishment. This place is in the neighborhood of their residence and one they frequent regularly. Ambiance upon entrance was lively. Saturday evening prior to mother's day, or just Saturday evening in general, is allegedly a popular time to dine. This place was pretty busy and I'm not sure we would have been able to obtain a table immediately if it weren't for the reservation placed pretty significantly in advance. We were seated behind a divider in the very back of the restaurant which was a pseudo-VIP room. Service was good and pleasant. The menu consists of a variety of Italian classics. I was tempted to stray from my current diet but this menu additionally had options that complied with my current dietary restrictions. Contrary to essentially any other time I patronized a restaurant, none of us ordered an alcoholic beverage. These people were sadistic and cruel enough to place a basket of warm rolls in front of my face with delicious-looking oil-infused condiment to accompany. I heard very high reviews regarding these rolls and almost lost my senses to sample a piece, for yelp review purposes only of course. Sorry to let you down. Salads come in small and large sizes. I ordered the tossed salad in a large size. As a side, I also went with asparagus which I don't usually like but am feeling peer pressured to enjoy. My GF and her Mommers ordered the crab cakes and a side of broccoli rabe which was thoroughly enjoyed by both. They both also commented on how filling the crab cakes were and I don't believe either of them finished the serving or particularly touched the broccoli rabe. My salad was good and HUGE. I couldn't even finish it and I'm a weathered binge eater by trade. The asparagus was boring but this might just be because I'm not partial to those creepy and shadily hard tubes with creepy buttresses at the top. Her pops ordered chicken parm which he states is his absolute favorite and cleaned his plate. Sister #1 ordered a standard cheese pizza which I did waver in self control and sample. There was nothing particularly special about the pizza but as a native New Yorker my standards are high. Sister #2 ordered carbonara and sister #3 crab ravioli. Both dishes received rave reviews. OMG I totally forgot to mention the appetizers. We ordered calamari (I can't comment on that shit but given the fact that it was completely finished and one of them was consumed off of the table, I'd hazard to guess that this was good) as well as caprese insalata and brussels sprouts. The caprese insalata was good but standard. The brussels sprouts were cooked to perfection, delicious and covered with a dollop of this delicious creamy garlic aoli. As far as where this stands on the Hockessin restaurant scene, I cannot say. This seems like a decent Italian food option in the area. read more

Don't serve steak unless you know how to prepare it to the customers request. It only comes with one side so I asked for onion rings, which tasted like they were frozen. My husband got the salmon which was a thin piece that tasted frozen and definitely not fresh caught as it was advertised. Where is the pride in what you serve? So, not only was the pizza cold by the time they got here (and yes, we heated it up) but two of the three where flat as a piece of cardboard and basically tasted like cardboard as well. So i grew up going to valle. it was probably my family's go-to place in the Pike Creek area. however, after several bland and mediocre meals time after time, i gave up. the pasta is NOT HOUSE MADE. how can you claim to be a real Italian restaurant without home made pasta. seriously, it takes 20 minutes at most, when the dough is prepped in advance. the service is usually decent on the front end, but the GM, who is always working, is not the friendliest. he seems to not wanna be there most of the time. who can blame him. it's a small place, full of locals. its a be a big advantage that's just unused potential. my mom went to this when it was a pizza shop. that's the only thing that's worth getting at this place. a pizza. even the subs are underwhelming. read more

Had wonderful service and delicious food. My cousin and I had ordered two bottles of wine , the crab cake appetizer, and a ceasar salad. Then my cousin went to the bathroom and I was looking at the dinner menu and the manager came up to our table and asked me if we were going to order dinner and yes we were. So in return I asked if he was kicking us out. He laughed said not but he made me feel extremely uncomfortable. There was no posting outside of the restaurant about time limits and we continued to order items. Plenty of mushrooms and they were mixed in nicely. I could tell it was a quality meat and a good amount of it but I wasn't feeling the love. I would have loved more cheese. To the Manager I am spending the weekend with my sister-in-law. Yesterday she ordered a pizza from your place that she highly recommends to everyone. She got a white pizza with spinach, mushrooms and roasted red peppers. It was the most delicious pizza either of us had ever eaten. She wanted to order another today substituting broccoli rabe for the spinach and also she requested ricotta to be added as well. The pizza that arrived was a regular cheese pizza with broccoli rabe, roasted red peppers, mushrooms and dollops of ricotta. My sister-in-law called to report the mistake. Order number of the wrong pizza was 324783 We were really looking forward to another delicious pizza. She spoke to the manager who seemed not very happy to be having criticism. He agreed to make us a new pizza. The new pizza arrived in no time and to our surprise was hastily made with no mozzarella or provolone that we could see. Absolutely no garlic like the pizza yesterday. The new pizza was flavorless. I understand it is a busy season but this is not how you resolve an issue with a loyal customer. Food was okay; cheese pizza was good. Lobster mac and cheese seemed reheated and the salads were a good size but lacked dressing and variety. Ravioli's were sloppy and bland. The most memorable experience at Valle was the obnoxious owner. It was a Friday night during lent and we had a table of 8. It was crowded and the place is small. However, we had a bill of over a hundred dollars so I think we could have been treated better. It took 20 minutes to get our drink orders; 2 wines and 6 waters. It took 35 minutes to get 1 appetizer and bread and 50 minutes to get our meal. As soon as our meal was served, the owner began hawking our table obviously looking for us to leave. It was rude. The waitress was nice but the rude owner, slow service and so-so food doesn't warrant a return visit. read more
