Seeing a pretty mixed bag of reviews for Woodside Kitchen, so here's my take based on a recent visit. I had been craving Chinese takeout and ended up stopping by Woodside Kitchen since I was already in the area. It's a Fuzhounese-owned spot, like many takeout places around this country, and while I was there my sister went on about how places like this are slowly declining as younger Fuzhounese generations move into more corporate jobs. I ordered the General Tso's chicken combination platter, and honestly, the chicken was some of the best I've had from a takeout spot. It was tender, soft, and the best part was that there was actually more chicken than rice. The egg roll was crunchy, flavorful, and not greasy at all. I paid $11.50, even though the menu still said $10.50 and definitely needs updating, but for the portion size, I had no regrets. It was a huge amount of food and easily could have lasted me three meals. 5/5. read more

I tried the general tso's chicken and the lo mein meals from here, and both were really delicious! They were served piping hot and took a couple minutes to cool down and be ready to eat. The family that owns the store here is very kind and welcoming. While I was sitting down with my meal, there was an elderly lady there who seemed to be a regular who didn't have enough money for hers, and the owner just told her that she could pay her back next time. read more

It was my first time ordering from this Chinese restaurant and I REALLY enjoyed my meal. I had an order of steamed chicken with vegetables and garlic sauce on the side and an order of beef chow fun. The chicken tasted clean as did the vegetables and there were plenty of both. The beef chow fun was REALLY great; the oodles of noodles and slices of beef tasted homemade and not doused in MSG like other Chinese restaurants would their food. Aside from the noodles and beef being very flavorful, an important thing to note is that the beef was of good quality, which again, is not common with most Chinese restaurants. I have order delivery from woodside kitchen and I think it is okay. The food I have order is BBQ pork on fried rice with cheese stick. The cheese stick was okay, just like regular cheese stick that is sort of slightly crunchy and soft from the inside. The BBQ pork on fried rice was ehhh. Not that bad , still have the tase of the sweet and roast, but the quality was not high expectation. The meat was a little hard, not tender at all. But the taste was okay, not really bad. What I am really glad about it is the fast delivery from a big rainy day. I was at home hungry, and reluctant to go out from the massive rain, so i have order delivery. The service was fast, it say about 50min, but the delivery guy came less than 30min. The delivery guy was nice, he chat alittle with me outside the door talking about the weather and the business operations. Very friendly and patient. Ordered about x3 during this pandemic. First time food wasn't that fresh, tasted okay, but the 2nd and 3rd time when we ordered this month, the food was fresh, hot, and super early on time. Our local joint nearby closed down so having take out Chinese food again is a nice comfort during these times. read more

So I went in before reading the reviews and then my skepticism kicks in. Well, I ordered from the lunch menu. Hot and Sour soup along with chicken and broccoli. My go to place for chinese delivery. Fast and efficient. The taste is also good compared to the other take out places in the area. I also love that they have chicken nuggets on their menu. Once we opened our food, we knew there was something wrong with dragon and phoenix. For Dragon and phoenix the sauces were completely off. Last time, the one with the shrimp was in a thick red sauce, which was replaced by a white sauce (if you can even call it that) and the taste... Let's just say, we didn't finish it. I called to verify if they sent the right order in, the girl on the phone immediately started to give excuses, their chef whom she says didn't change, didn't put enough ketchup in the sauce. EXCUSE ME? this sauce can't be salvaged with ketchup. Since she kept on repeating that the chef didn't change and the problem was lack of ketchup, i just hung up and vowed never to order from them again. This is a typical Chinese restaurant, ideal for delivery and for quick eats. They have a pretty extensive menu, and the prices are pretty good. I recommend one of the combination platters, e.g. Chicken and Broccoli. The staff is friendly and the food is prepared quickly. The interior is rather run-down but it's pleasant enough. read more

Ordered over $55 worth of food for five people plus a generous tip and asked for extra napkins, five sets of chopsticks and the free sodas advertised on their site http://www.woodsidekitchenelmhurst.com/specials.aspx. They sent plastic forks, no chopsticks, no sodas and no napkins, none! And the special instructions were printed on the order which was stapled to the bag!
