Our final charge was $109 per person, plus a mandatory 20% gratuity. That discrepancy was frustrating, especially given the quality of the meal. (someone else commented on this in the reviews - maybe it is time to fix the website). Unfortunately, the food was extremely disappointing. I ordered the steak frites, or "steak frits" as it was written on the menu, and it bore little resemblance to a proper steak frites. The steak was a dry, overcooked cube of meat served on top of fries that looked and tasted similar to frozen store-bought steak fries, along with an unidentified pink sauce. My wife ordered the scallops with lobster ravioli. The scallops were overcooked, and the ravioli appeared to have been previously cooked and then fried or reheated. They were and rubbery rather than fresh and tender. I realize my expectations may be higher because I am accustomed to dining in larger metropolitan areas, but we have had far better meals at several restaurants in Walla Walla. I cannot understand why anyone would make the drive specifically for this restaurant unless they were already staying at the B&B. Even then, I would recommend going into town for dinner. The service was also slow. Our server tried to remain pleasant, but she clearly seemed unhappy or overwhelmed. We were a group of six, and none of us finished our main courses. Despite the amount of uneaten food left on the table, she didn't ask whether everything was satisfactory. The one positive was the pleasant view of the surrounding canyon and landscape. Met with several people. Shook a lot of hands. Looked at some things. One guy had a map. By about 6pm I had done basically everything a businessman can legally do in one day so I decided to get dinner. Went to TMACS. Sat at the bar because I was by myself and sitting at a table by yourself makes it look like someone is coming. Nobody was coming. The lady gave me the menu. I told her I wasnt very hungry. She recommended the octopus. I said lets do it. I have always respected the octopus because it has 8 arms and still doesnt have a job. Octopus came out. Very good. Charred on the outside. Tender inside. Had some sauce and other things around it. I ate all of those too. At this point I was no longer hungry which had been the original goal. Then she asked what I wanted for dinner. This caught me off guard because I thought the octopus had counted. She recommended the bolognese. I said lets do that too. This is one thing I like about restaurants. You can just keep ordering. Bolognese came out and immediately became a serious situation. Big wide pasta. Rich meat sauce. Parmesan. Everything stuck to everything correctly. I dont know who invented bolognese but they understood that sometimes spaghetti needs more stuff on it. Very good. Halfway through dinner a glass broke. Everybody heard it. Maccarone's because the founder's actual last name is Maccarone. This guy was born with the last name Maccarone and opened a restaurant with pasta. Sometimes life tells you what to do. If his last name had been Hamburger this could have been a completely different place. Eventually they changed the name to TMACS which is much faster to say. Smart. I paid the bill. For the food: I got a small BBQ platter which came with 3-meat choices , a dinner roll and a single side choice. I chose baked beans for my side. Tri-tip, ribs and brisket for my meats. I tasted the beans nothing special but tasty. Same for the roll. The ribs were fall off the bone tender, juicy and meaty! I got three 3"-4" ribs. I also had a small pile of super thin sliced tender juicy and flavorful tri-tip and three 1/4-1/2" thick slices of brisket. The brisket was moist and had a good smoke flavor as well. I ate all the ribs, half the tri-tip and a slice of brisket. The rest went home with me as this was a hearty serving. To end our evening we were sent on our way with well wishes and thanks for patronage from our server and the bartender!
