Just WOW! I had such an incredible experience here! We started off in the tasting room which looks like a villa right out of Italy. The view are stunning and so are the tables and the design. We were greeted with some delicious Sav blanc while we waited for Andrea to begin our tour. Andrea was so lovely and told us all about the unique aspects of pepper bridge that set them apart, including a really cool machine that their owner developed! It was unlike any of the previous tours we'd been on. We then went to the library for a private wine and food tasting which was absolutely remarkable. The library is STUNNING! I am gluten free and pescatarian so for my pairings, I had celery salad, fried rice, and deviled eggs. They were all amazing and the portions were generous. The only tasting room we have visited during every one of our visits to Walla Walla, and always our first stop. Our most recent visit (our fifth?) was during COVID-19 Phase 2 restrictions, which required a reservation. We enjoyed the reservation-required system as it assured us we would not encounter a crowd, thus this time we arrived at 11am rather than 10am. VIEW: 5.0. The top view among Walla Walla vineyards. Looking out over vineyards to the Blue Mountains. Gorgeous and peaceful. AMBIANCE: 5.0. Cute yellow-stone appearance on the outside, with comfortable covered balcony. Low-volume comfortably-paced music which is consistently among the best background sound we encounter in Walla Walla tasting rooms, even though we don't know (for the most part) the artists. WINE: 4.5. The profound reds of Pepper Bridge are among our few top favorite WA wines. This time we tried the Reserve Tasting Flight, and found we actually prefer the regular flight. SERVICE: 5.0. The service is consistently high-quality. A nice touch was that the name of our reservation-holder (me) was printed on the wine lists we received. This place is amazing! Highly recommend visiting this estate! The staff here was so friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating! Our tastings were served to us by Isaiah. He was very nice, cordial, and attentive. All the wines that we tried here were great! The views are wonderful. The new Tasting Room is small and intimate, but just big enough. Isaiah was able to answer all of our questions and let us revisit a few wines before we decided on which bottles to buy! 10/10 service in the tasting room. We were lucky and fortunate to be able to squeeze in a facility tour as well. Walking through the production part of the facility which is located just above the cellar. Instead of using pumps to transport the wine to the barrel room, they use gravity, which is pretty cool! Christina took us on our tour and she was very kind and had lots of information that was great to hear! We got to see a bottle cellar where you can schedule an intimate chef's table and wine pairing, so we definitely need to come back for that! We visited Pepper Bridge Winery, which had a lovely space and nice, red wines. It was nice to get out of downtown Walla Walla and see where the vineyards were, and Pepper Bridge Winery has a great estate for just that. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and there were quite a few people wine tasting in and out of the tasting room space. The property is large, with an outdoor deck that looks out to the vineyards and mountains. It's truly where you wanna drink wine - best views in the house. It was my favorite part of Pepper Bridge Winery, as it really felt like we were in wine country. Pepper Bridge Winery had all reds for their tasting, which I don't hate! They had four red wines, ranging from a merlot, to a blend and two cabernet sauvignons from different years. Of all the wines we tasted my favorite was the 2015 cabernet sauvignon, which tasted like black cherries, yet had a lot of depth. But really, all of the wines here had something to offer. I would recommend visiting Pepper Bridge Winery if you are a red wine drinker. All of the wines were solid, and you cannot beat the views from here. Plus, it's dog-friendly, so don't forget your furry friend while lounging out on the outdoor deck, with a glass in hand. read more

We did the tour of the grounds with the founder, Norm. It was truly an amazing experience to hear the history of his winery, the business, and see how the wine is made. Then we had our tasting with a beautiful view of the vineyards. Our wine guide gave us great service and was extremely professional. I've been here before and had a fantastic experience. This visit was a let down.. The facility is in a gorgeous location with a fantastic view. The wines are enjoyable. The server had extremely light pours (compared to the other 12 wineries we visited). He provided minimal information and was not super engaged with talking about the winery. Although pours were small, there was a 15 minute break between wines so it took some time to get through the tasting. Probably would visit other vineyards as we appreciate the stories and history of the wineries as well as good wine. read more

This was one of our stops on our wine tour of Walla Walla. We enjoyed the wine very much. Reservations are required. We particularly enjoyed the Sauvignon Blanc and it was available at a very reasonable price point. The grounds were lovely but we were unable to enjoy them on the day we were there as it was cold and rainy. Our server was very friendly and they do have some food options available for purchase as well. Another nice touch was that they put your name on the top of your wine list which gave it a nice little personal touch. I would definitely recommend this winery if you are in the area. read more

However, with only 3 other groups in the tasting room, they turned us a way because we didn't have an appointment. We made an appointment for the next day, they made the appointment wrong, and we're still going to turn us away even though it was their fault. Very kindly another guest gave us their spot. Especially in tourist-heavy wine country hot spots, the "Disneyland effect" can be particularly intense: beautiful people, artwork-encrusted walls, soft music, gleaming stemware, immediately approachable wines that don't require a seasoned palate to appreciate. But it's facade, not the reality of a working winery, where dirty fingernails, sleep-deprived mornings, and stained teeth are all part of the process. That's what makes a visit to a first tier but down-to-earth Walla Walla winery like Pepper Bridge special: the chance to meet friendly people, taste well-made, site-specific wines, and realize that there is more to wine county than idle fantasies of the good life. A visit here is a chance to appreciate the simple things in life. Things like watering your lavender bushes and potted plants before the searing heat of a springtime afternoon arrives. Like getting licked and chewed on by a 4-month old puppy whose playground just happens to be prime vineyard real estate. Like enjoying a refreshing glass of white wine from the shade of an outdoor deck while enjoying the views of distant mountains whose higher peaks are still speckled with melting snow. If any of this sounds appealing to you, my advice is to call ahead of time to arrange a short tour of Pepper Bridge's innovative gravity-flow winery, the first of its kind in Washington. This will be followed by tasting room pours of the Bordeaux-style red and white wines that are the trademark here: a Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon white aged in a combination of neutral French oak and concrete egg; a Cabernet Franc-based red blend; a single varietal Merlot; and a classic Cabernet Sauvignon made for aging 10 years+, blended with small amounts of estate Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Cab Franc. The wines all are sourced from estate vineyards located on the hills above Walla Walla, as well as from the vineyards on the valley floor that surround the winery. Taking the tour allows you to look out from the deck at the distant hillside vineyards, essential sources for Pepper Bridge wines that balance fruit, spice, acid, and mineral elements in ways that mimic Old World wines without sacrificing the local terroir and characteristic richness of fruit in the process. Pepper Bridge is one of the valley's founding fathers, when Cabernet Sauvignon was still considered the king of red wines. Later winemakers to the valley have had greater critical success with Rhone-style Syrah and are experimenting with Tempranillo, Sangiovese, Grenache, and Carménère. Like the Napa, Sonoma, and Paso giants with which PB compares, the focus remains on the classic reds, although the current (2016) vintage of Sauvignon Blanc is especially good: expertly made with many layers of complexity, but also a sprightliness of touch that makes it taste downright delicious. People who have never tasted good Merlot are likely to be happy here, as the Merlot is quite exceptional. My preference, however, was for their Cabernet Sauvignon, especially the 2013 vintage I tasted, for its dark berry core and unfolding layers of fruit, spice, and earth, and for its ageworthy tannic structure enhanced with subtle oak. It was the best Bordeaux-style red wine I've sampled in Walla Walla wineries, on par with elegant yet restrained Napa Valleys Cabs in the $50 range, such as those made by Honig and Frog's Leap. While you won't be mistaking them for a Ridge Monte Bello anytime soon, these world-class wines deserve extensive cellaring and patience to unlock their innermost secrets. There is a vision here at Pepper Bridge that is appealing, especially if you enjoy comparing different wine growing regions. I think this vision is best experienced up close and personal, not at a Woodinville tasting room or a Michelin-starred steakhouse. Taking the tour with a staff member, hanging out on the deck with the tasting room puppy, walking among the vines and gazing out upon the distant hills where vineyards share space with wheat fields and wind turbines, it all makes Pepper Bridge more of a "place" rather than merely a 90+ award-winning wine. You can always pair your visit with other stops in the area, including PB's sister winery, Amavi, whose portfolio of wines is more varied and playful. Pepper Bridge takes its wines seriously. But not at the expense, I think, of laughter or lightness of heart. Visit and decide for yourselves! read more

Always a great bottle of wine and a good winery as well! We stopped on by on a Saturday day and it was packed. All of the wines are good. We came home with a Sauvignon Blanc and the Seven Hills Vineyard wine (which had been opened earlier for an event so we got to try it). The winery has an indoor and outdoor patio with great views of their vineyard. Looks like they also have a food and wine parting (lunch) you can reserve i advance which seems like a fun option as well! read more

This was our second stop on our trip to Walla Walla for our anniversary. (Saturday 3 pm). Beautiful space. Experience was fine. Appreciated that our reservation was moved indoors when it was a cold and windy day. (The previous winery didn't extend that courtesy of moving us indoors.) Service was great to start. We both had a tasting and then some almonds and salami to snack on. We finished the snacks before wine was poured again. Probably sat there for fifteen minutes just empty waiting for the third pour. We had to remind him we were still waiting even though the space is pretty open and our empty glasses were in full view. He apologized and we understood. But still kinda sucks. He did make plate recommendations for our dinner at Brasserie Four and enjoyed it. read more

I visit Walla Walla at least once a year, and make a point to come to Pepper Bridge every time. The vineyard is absolutely gorgeous and picturesque. Pretty much every winery in WW that I've been to uses Pepper Bridge grapes in their Merlot and/or Cab. Pepper Bridge wines speak for themselves - they are exquisite. I've been fortunate to get a tour of their operations and it is immaculate. Reviews below seem put off by their tasting fee. I think its worth it, personally. The pours aren't stingy, for one. For two, they have a deck you can sit outside and soak up the sun and a view of the vineyard. Plus, I recommend you put that $8 toward a bottle. I'm sitting on their '04 Merlot, '05 Cab, and '06 Merlot. Oh, and my boyfriend just proposed here, and they helped set the whole thing up. So maybe I'm biased, but I don't think so. read more

Pepper Bridge Winery is one of, if not THE, oldest winery in Walla Walla. You can't tell when you walk in: the tasting room is fairly new, designed in an italian villa style. There's a nice outdoor patio if you want to order full glasses of wine, and buy the prepacked charcuterie that's in the small fridge. For wine tasting, we had 5 very small pours, with 2 of 5 very good. But if you're lucky, Norm the owner will show up and either regale you with stories right there in the tasting room... OR, if he's feeling frisky, take a group of you on a free personal tour of the winery operations! If that is offered, take him up on it. You'll see the harvesting and crushing machinery, the oak barrel rooms, and the steel tanks-- all of which will seem much more interesting because Norm is telling you cool stories about them. Keep in mind, Norm is old and speaks in a soft voice. Edge up close to him so you can hear. It's worth it! read more
